holding the camera when the flash pops up is the only bad thing as my finger gets in the way of the flash. a little more room on the side to hold onto would be better.i love the 20 zoom on this.

I bought this camera to replace my approximately 10 year old digital camera. Obviously the technology has advanced significantly since then, but this new camera exceeded all my expectations. The quality of picture is amazing and being able to zoom into 20x is fantastic. I would recommend this camera to anyone who likes taking photos but does not want to part with the money for a top of the range camera.

This camera for the price does ok. I wish it had a peep hole to take pictures with instead of just a screen. It has good quality images. The zoom feature works great. For the price, it is a fair deal.

After 2 years of using my Canon SX130IS, I decided to make an upgrade. But before I finally decided to buy this one, I made some research comparing Sony HX20V and WX150. Sony HX20V seem appealing. However, I have this comfort zone with Canon lenses. Aside from the fact that it's a bit cheaper than that Sony model. the WX150 is more handy in terms of size, but lacks features that the 2 higher models can offer.So when I got the camera, I checked on what upgrades I got: Smaller size, much trendier design, 20x zoom, HD Movie, Movie digest, Higher LCD resolution, faster shutter, silent mode, and the 20% improvement on image captured compared to the older model. Overall that was a good deal for $210+ I paid (tax included). I remember paying $300 dollars 2 years ago for my old camera.I originally wanted the black , but had to settle for the green due to stock availability. I'm fine with it.Also, I'm not that bothered with the flash location. Just getting used to it.I would recommend this camera. :)

If you are in the market for a dependable camera from a manufacturer that stands behinds it products, do NOT consider the Canon Powershot SX260HX (or anything else by Canon for that matter). I just had a horrible experience. We purchased the SX 260 about six weeks in advance of our once-in-a-lifetime European vacation so that I could thoroughly learn the features of the camera. Lo and behold, three days into the vacation, the display dies. I understand that this may have been a fluke and that all man-made products are subject to breakage, although this DOES seriously call into question Quality Control at Canon. But what REALLY enraged me was the way Canon chose to stand behind their product and make it right (which they didn't in any meaningful way). So I repeat, if you are in the market for a dependable camera from a company that stands behind their products, I suggest you look at Nikkon, Sony, anybody but Canon. I for one will NEVER spend another dime on any Canon product.

The reviews on this camera were outstanding so I got it. I have always had canon powershot cameras. I was surprised that the flash "popped up" when in use. The LCD screen is great. The shutter speed for my kids is slow (this is because of all the fancy checks that the camera does automatically). So I think it will be great once I get used to it. There are a lot of settings on this camera that I will likely never use as I am just a recreational photographer of life events, kids and family.

First camera I've owned that REQUIRES a memory card and it is also the first camera I've owned that has given me constant memory errors. I've tried 2 different 16GB cards and an 8GB. They all work on and off but not consistently which is very annoying. What brought me here now to write this review was the last 45 minutes I spent popping out my mem card and battery with no luck. (this has happened several times in only a couple months.) What I really dislike is I only need one picture right now. Had they provided a small amount of onboard memory I would have extracted my pic 45 minutes ago instead of dealing with the annoyance of constant memory errors. This camera worked great for a month. Not worth the money especially when there is no onboard memory. Why let a memory error situation live and breathe when it doesn't have to be that way. Not impressed

I bought this camera in preparation for a trip my company was sending me overseas. I was amazed at the clarity of the pictures. I also have a company iphone and I could tell which one had the anti-shake feature! The anti-shake feature made it so I could walk and still take clear pictures. This camera is very easy to use, I like things that are not so complicated. I do not want to keep making adjustments to get a good picture. This one was timely also where I could zoom in quickly to get a picture that was only there a few seconds. According to my calculations, it takes somewhere over 180 pictures on a charge. ( I think it is at least 465, but not sure since I took so many videos and the equivalent pictures were over 465 counting the video.) The zoom feature was fantastic, I took quite a few pictures where I zoomed in from far away. I also brought them home put them on my LED HD TV and found NO degradation in picture quality. Overall I am very pleased with the camera and wished I would have upgraded cameras earlier. This one is a five star for me. I would recommend it for those who don't want to move the functions around, I just kept it on Auto and it was fine. There were lots of changes you could make, but I did not use them. Best camera I have ever owned!

pictures are awesome and very good quality.video recording has a problem when sound its too loud (like show or some one screaming), it saturates and adds a noice to the recording.

I really like this camera! I have a Nikon D3100 DSLR, which is too bulky for my tastes for a lot of picture taking on the go, and I have been very pleased with Canon's point and shoot cameras. I used this one the first time at our local butterfly show and took beautiful pictures that I am thrilled with. Also used it for pictures of the kids going to prom--again, took some wonderful portraits and candid shots. It's very easy to use, and just the right weight in my hand, although maybe too heavy for your pocket. It does use a rechargeable battery and not AAs.

Great camera with the usual canon quality and lots of nice features for the novice photographer. I chose this camera after much research and reading reviews on Amazon. It is the perfect size for me, compact but not too small with a nice size LCD screen and zoom lens. My printed photos turned out beautiful but also show up nicely on the LCD screen to review. All in all it is a great camera for the price. I would recommend it to anyone. Charlotte

This camera does , all of the features I seek, and it does them very well indeed. It receives an excellent rating for a point and shoot.

I need a small camera for travelling and document photographing. Canon gives me a product that just fit my needs.It's light enough to carry around. The 20x optical zoom can help you catch a bird far away.It's nice when you don't want to take a heavy DSLR on business trip.

I think the camera surpassed my expectations. It clicked really neat pictures during the day as well as night. Although I had heard its low light images doesn't come out good, I found it good enough. Especially love the 20x optical zoom.Pros - Compact, Image quality, priceCons - Battery (although it can take almost 250 shots in one charge...along with videos can be a problem.)

I was looking to replace my old Canon elph SD600 (really put that camera through the wringer) which died recently and was originally looking at the powershot S110 but then found the SX260 with the 20X's zoom. I am in my yard all spring and summer and take pictures of the wild life including butterflies and insects. My old camera just could not zoom in well at all and taking more than one picture at a time was very slow. This baby takes rapid pictures plus the zoom is great; it also has face recognition and image stabilization (great for when I take videos and am not very good at keeping the camera steady) which are great for those of us who are "camera challenged". Its point and shoot settings allow even myself to take some pretty amazing pictures. Plus the screen is much bigger for viewing. I read several review comparisons of the two cameras and both had great reviews; amazingly the SX260 costs around a $100 less. Just love it; look forward to taking many close up shots of butterflies next summer with it. Canon sure knows how to make a great camera even for those of us who are total idiots about the operation of one.

After owning and/or testing 35 digital cameras since their inception, I can honestly rate this long zoom pocket cam as very good. It is still a bit overpriced over $200 considering its features. But as a small, light, zoom pocket cam, it is tough to beat in early 2013. It does have a small sensor, so most pictures, even at low ISO settings show some grain and movie mode is mediocre compared to other cams in the same price range. But it does have some features and settings that even a pro or semi-pro photographer would want and would enjoy. It is basic but it works and works well.

I have been in the market for a great point and shoot for some time! I have 2 little boys (age 2 and 7months) and priority for me was being able to capture them!It took some time to figure out how to use all the features (probably would have helped if I read the manual but I just have not had time) but considering I have just been playing around with settings, it is pretty user friendly!I love that there is an easy auto setting for when I need to be quick capturing a moment, but I also love that it has many customisable settings! I can choose shutter speed and aperture, change the white balance, etc.! I also love the quiet setting, it makes no noise or flashes at all, so I can sneak up on the boys during naps and take pictures without waking them!Overall, if you need something easy, with great quality images that allows you to take pictures of a wide range of things, this is the camera for you!!!

I bought this camera for my husband and chose it instead of a SLR because he likes to keep it in his pocket. This camera takes amazing pictures! It has an awesome zoom on it and I am still shocked at the range of the flash on it. I have enlarged several pics that he has taken and they look great! I would recommend this camera to anyone. I don't at all feel like I compromised by not buying the more expensive SLR as this suits him perfectly.

Every few years we seem to buy and replace our prior digital camera...they either stop working or as the last one (Sony), it developed a black spot in the middle of the lense and it would have cost just about as much as a new camera to get it fixed. As usual we received it quickly from Amazon (Prime is great). The camera works well...filled with features that my wife is enjoying exploring. Since she is the photographer (I am point and shoot...she is "lets be creative"), she likes the clarity of the pictures, she loves the small size (she says the weight of the camera is right...but it is heavier than our last camera). All in all...it has been a good buy.

iI did my homework and found out this was the camera for me. It was hard to find in our area so ordering through Amazon was a breeze, and I got the price and color I wanted. I've used the camera on two trips and really like the ease of using it and the quality of the pictures. It gives great zoomed-in pictures. The only reason it's a 4 start is because it was delivered and left outside in the bitter cold. I did not see it until the next day because it was behind a planter. That's really the delivery person's fault, but maybe if the envelope would have stated "fragile" or "camera" this might not have happened. I warmed it up gradually and even set it in a sealed container of rice to absorb the moisture. It appears to work find.

I received this camera quickly. I haven't had much time to use it yet, so I will come back after a period of time. HOWEVER, one of the first things I noted is the camera popup flash. It's in a ridiculous spot! I normally hold my camera with both forefingers on the top of the camera when I take a shot. If you have your left finger positioned on the top, it stops the flash from popping up about halfway. The camera then instructs me to turn it off and turn on again.Really? I personally think that is one crazy spot for a flash to pop up. I'll have to learn a new way of holding my camera for shots.

My husband bought this little camera for me for my birthday and I use it constantly! It is simple to use and the pictures come out crisp and clear. The zoom is amazing. I use it when taking pictures of birds. We compared camera shots to other taken with another camera I've had for five years and the difference in picture is fabulous! There are so many "extras" that even if I take a shot that doesn't look as good as I want I can change it as much as a I want. I will be using this one for a long time to come. It arrived far sooner than we expected which was a big plus!

I just bought this to take pictures of family, vacations, pets, etc. and the quality of the pictures are much more than I expected. The zoom is fantastic and it is fun playing with the different settings on the camera. I was also surprised that the sound was good when taking videos. The camera is also pretty sturdy. I accidentally dropped mine on concrete and feared I broke it but the only sign I dropped it was a tiny scratch on the corner that you have to squint to see. I would recommend this for anyone who just wants and easy to use camera.

who knows something about cameras and is EXTREMELY picky about everything in life! So, very high risk choice!! He's used it for about 6 months now, including on a recent trip to France, and so far I have not heard any complaints. Believe me, that's unheard of. So, while I haven't used the camera myself, I feel safe giving it 5 stars.

Great zippy portable camera -- I take this camera with me every where instead of my SLR -- Photos and HD video are crisp, vibrant and sharp. Ease of use, 20x optical and stabilizer are fantastic. Dial is easy to see and use with one finger - However, the flash seems to be a bit awkward and interferes with my finger. I have yet to try the GPS. Overall, great camera for the money!

I have purchased two of these SX260 because I like the 20x optical lens and picture quality and have had good experiences with previous Canon cameras. In both cases, after a few months of use, the lcd display goes intermittently dark. Although this does not affect the picture as such, it makes it very difficult to focus and zoom. At a local repair shop the technician said this is caused by a bad charge-coupled device(CCD)and the screen would have to be replaced (part unavailable here in Bolivia). Apparently this a common problem. I am hoping Best Buy will honor the warranty on my next trip to the USA.

To be fair, I just got this camera today, so I haven't had a lot of time with it. However, my initial impression is not great and I'm thinking of returning it and going with the Panasonic Lumix ZS20.My issues with this camera aren't different from what others have noted, but I'll reiterate them here:It really is quite slow when recording the image - almost as slow as my phone.I find it heavy to hold, made worse by the awkward way you have to hold it because of the pop up flash.I found it difficult to figure out how to set things - that may not be the case for other Canon owners; I've had Sonys in the past, so that might the issue.I'll test it out more over the next few days and revise my review if necessary.

Love this camera. Really really really great clear crisp pictures. It has an 80x zoom and those pictures and great too. I used it at to take photos of Kenny Chesney on stage at the Houston Rodeo from the top level - and it looks like you are 10 feet away - still a good clear picture. I take tons of photos now. It has a live mode so I was able to use it during my daughters high school drill team performance without having to have the flash and could zoom in on her alone. Definitely more than worth the price.

Easy to use and figure out how to do this N that. The manual is awful...tiny, almost impossible to read print, but the Canon customer service rep sent a full manual in PDF (not on their website!)....still small print, but by a series of copy & paste into a Word doc, using print screen function of the computer, was able to reproduce into something readable. Attention CANON...get a grip on minimum customer service and improve your manuals.So, at present, the only thing I can fault it with is the lack of a manual in readable print size.

I got this camera for a trip to Washington, DC. The pictures are beautiful! It has a great zoom. It fits in my purse. I also have taken it to Russia and Ireland. I have recommended it to several friends who have raved about their purchase. The picture quality is excellent.
