Standard size drive. Seems to work just fine though it is pretty hot when taken out of a King Win hot swap tray. I'm switching to Seagate Barracuda drives which are not as tall and seem to run a little bit cooler.

Now this is a pretty neat Hard Drive, at least for my usage. It's decent and fast, and with 1 TB of storage you'll hardly run out of space :D (unless you store Massive data, then it might not be enough) but 1 TB is enough for me. Western Digital seems to be widely popular among Hard drives so Glad I stuck with it.

came with no install hardware(cd) and the WD web site software dose not recognize it so not so good at all, from what I have read they must have been rejects or something can't believe amazon sells. my newr system running windows8 won't install it right?

I like to time shift digital TV with my Home Theater PC. This drives gives me lots of extra space. I have had very good luck with Western Digital brand for many years. I have worked on computers for 23 years.

Had Western Digital harddrive failure.Dropped this one in and computer immediately worked.Wonder why the original failed so soon? But the fix was a cinch. All you need is #!

One thing that Amazon needs to do is suggest a power adapter cable to go along with it. My upgrade was delayed almost a week while waiting for the adapter. At the very least the need for the adapter cable should be disclosed. Even with this minor glitch it was still a terrific buy. Thanks Amazon!

Perfect 500GB replacement. Western Digital Blue quality, 7200RPM Sata drive, worked as advertised. Loaded Windows 7 64-bit and finished up with my client and went about my day.

its better then my normal sata 1 seagate from 6 years ago but not by a whole lot the sata 3 does speed it up a lil bit but keep in mind it dosent take much to over load this like any mechanicle drive and will def be a bottleneck in a next gen system but it does its job as well as it can and i am happy with it

After decades of personal computer usage I experienced a hard disk failure. I have been pleased with the quality of Western Digital devices in my decades of work in computer department management and that made my personal choice an easy one. This HD device has only been in use for a few months to date but I have confidence it will provide a long period of service.

I got it have my windows on it as I have two 3TB SATA 7200 RPM Desktop Hard Drive an one 1TB Desktop Hard Drive an a 2.5 500 GB laptop HD all for extra storage space

Needed a relatively cheap, small, fast internal SATA hard drive for a cheap computer to reload Windows 7 on to in order to get a friends computer up and running after a "vicious" viral infection. Got it quick using PRIME. Worked perfect. Used the old corrupted hard drive as extra storage after reformatting it. Needed to use the SATA header being occupied by the optical drive for this HD ... which required the use of an EIDE adapter on the SATA optical drive ... see my review on that item ... It also worked perfect!

Seriously - this was an exact match for capacity and speed for my crashed drive so the old one was out and the new one in in under a minute. Formatting and installing windows was quick and easy. Of course installing all of the software took forever, but that is not a fault of the hardware.

I bought this hard drive to replace my seemingly failing Seagate drive I had bought a year ago. This drive has made my computer faster comparatively. It increased my boot time with Windows XP from at least 5 minutes down to only approximately 2 minutes. Game loads are also faster, along with file transfers. Install was easy and worked the first time. No complaints honestly.

I bought this to replace an IDE 200GB Hitachi...I am very happ with the performance, and the price. I am building my son a custom designed Gaming System and I needed a responsive drive...WD Caviar's are the best for this type system if you are working on a tight budget.

A good hard drive needed to replace a previous one, same model, that died a bit prematurely, hence only three stars. FYI: This smaller (nowdays) size drive may be necessary on some older computers of MS Vista vintage or earlier. I first tried a 2T drive which works as a secondary drive on my HP computer but found that the computer wouldn't boot on the enhanced format. So I purchased this drive, the same model that came originally with my HP computer and was able to get it up just fine. Apart from the untimely demise of the first drive (after ~4 years) it is a good fast hard drive.

I have no way to "Test" the drive. In normal use it installed properly and has worked well since installation. Several large data transfers have been accomplished without any known problem.I'm happy with it.

Been using Western Digital since the big boom of the internet and in my book they still are the best! To boot I still have my first 100meg (NOT GIG) Hard Drive and yes it still works after all these years. Lol keep it as a text file archive drive.

This is a good replacement drive for your old SATA drive that may be less than 500 GB. This is a bulk drive and is not shipped in a retail box which would contain SATA cable or CD Data-transfrer-drive coppy software...so if you need either of those items you need to download the software from west/Digi directly and get a SATA cable.Drive comes adequately shipped in a shrink-wrapped antistatic bag. Average price for 500 Gig drive WD-Blue is less than 55 bucks not inclu shipping...so with shipping icluded this was a good purchace for the buck.

Not the fastest drive on the market, but I haven't experienced a failure yet. Great for storing games, photos, music, videos, etc. When I play multiplayer games installed on this drive I still load faster than 90% of the people I'm playing with (MW3, BO2, SC2, Diablo, LoL, etc.).

It's only 465 GB? Come on dudes (or dudettes), really? You advertise over the expected product, not under. Anyways, just installed it last night and it seems to operate faster than the original HD that came with my computer (iMac late 2006).
