I have this wired to a Trendnet TEW-647GA 802.11 b/g/n wireless gaming adapter that's connected wirelessly to our wireless router, which then is wired to our cable modem. Our tv and blu-ray go through this switch to get to the gaming adapter for internet access. The Auto-MDIX ports make for easy connection, since it doesn't matter which device (tv, blu-ray, gaming adapter) wires to which port.I've had this switch installed since late December 2011 and its power has only been cycled as a result of neighborhood power outage or because of work on electrical outlets. I have not had to cycle power due to malfunction.Along with its reliability, I like that it saves a little power by powering down unused ports and by using less power for short cables. At the time I bought mine, the 8 port was either cheaper or just a dollar or two more than the 5 port, so I went with the 8 port since it has a slightly faster switching fabric, probably to accommodate the 3 extra devices.

The TRENDnet 8-Port switch works fine. Simple plug-and-play. No software or setup required. No problems with it at all to date.The switch is connected through a CAT-5e cable to a remote gateway approximately 60' away. Three computers, a video surveillance DVR and a U-Verse TV box are connected to the switch and all work great with no programming or setup of the switch.Very satisfied with this inexpensive switch. It does the job with no problem.

VERY reasonably prices ethernet switch! It took a second to intall and works like a charm. I have several devices connected to this including a wireless router, and I have not noticed any degradation in speed on any device so far. The construction looks ok, I have it tucked in one corner below my desk, so hopefully it shouldn't suffer any damage and should last a long time.

I came across this switch while thinking what I needed was an ethernet cable splitter. We have a smart LG TV that runs their old "Netcast" software (which has since been replaced by the "Smart" software on newer TV's). We have multiple Roku boxes for other places in the house and decided we wanted the same functionality for this main TV (a nicer Netflix interface, Pandora, etc.) I had run an ethernet cable from my router to the TV to maximize movie streaming quality. I needed something to feed that ethernet cable into both the TV and the new Roku box to be added. A reviewer for the splitter solution cautioned that with a splitter, you can't have both sources hooked up at the same time. So I was directed to the switch. This one was the least expensive and all the reviews were encouraging. I installed it today, and everything works exactly as I hoped. The TV still brings in its native "Netflix" stuff (Picassa, etc.)and the HDMI-connected Roku box input can be selected for the Roku stuff. The switch sits in the back of the cabinet "doing it's thing", with 2 open ports to possibly connect a laptop (that room gets lousy wireless reception) or maybe a wireless extender.

This TrendNet 5 port switch works very well. It's sort of what I expected but I was confused. You have to connect the ethernet cable to the 5th port and then it distributes to 4 other ports. It's very easy to use no hardware installation needed. I have a 100ft ethernet cable from my router in the living room to my room. And it splits up into my Desktop and PS3 it works much better then Wifi. And it's faster for me anyways.

Reduced electrical consumption, but not sure why anyone would want a 100Mbs when Gigabit (1000) is available for 10 x the speed that you should be getting when wired.

This product is great! I use this in my college dorm. I am only provided with 1 ethernet jack at my desk. Like most people, I have multiple devices that use an ethernet connection: apple tv, networked printer, and a laptop. This device takes up minimal space and does exactly what I need it to do. Now I don't have to change the cable around every time I want to use a different device.

I'm a big fan of Trendnet, Netgear and Cisco. I can't stand Dlink anymore due to the lower quality and I've never been a huge fan of Linksys.This switch, at the right price, is a great value. Either 5 or 8 ports and it's green, so it's powering down ports that are not in use. I own the 5 and 8 port switches.I would buy these again.
