I needed a switch because I only had one ethernet port left on my router but I needed to plugin a Roku box and a Printer. This switch did the job perfectly. Roku and the Printer both work well sharing a port.

With nearly all electronic devices being internet enabled, the ports included on your router are rarely enough. This situation is quickly remedied by attaching an ethernet switch to your router. Setting up the switch is simple and you should be able to complete it in just a few minutes. The switch does have to be plugged in, and the length of the cable is very short meaning you will have to install this very close to an outlet. The second part of the setup is inserting an ethernet cable from your router to power the rest of the jacks. This does mean that a five port switch really only enables you to connect four devices. If you need more than four, consider a switch with more ports. After testing my switch, I can say that all of the ports are working as expected and the connections are stable. If you have multiple devices that cannot be connected to your wireless network (or would simply be better wired,) this switch will prove invaluable.

I've purchased at least five of these -- they are small, inexpensive, and just plain work. I buy the metal version for rougher environments, and the gigabit version for high volume or video traffic environments.

This box won't work with 5 ports, it can only take one incoming, one outgoing. The other 3 ports simply wont work. To connect to another device, you have to disconnect the existing one and power cycle. It will show the green lights for all but no connection can be made other than the 2 ports. If connect to 5 ports, this device will randomly select which outpoing port to work. I tried on PS3, laptops (2 with W7 and W8) and a desktop.

I was running several compuers with this. Works great. Now I have a wireless router and no longer need this box. I have packed it away for future use, just incase.

As some of the previous reviews note, I should have done my homework. I read all the data on the box and in the product section but did not look at the reviews. Not until I opened the box did I find a sentence which noted "the Switch is not designed to share internet between multiple computers. You need to get an internet router...."Not worth sending it back, but I hope this helps others.

Bought this for the boyfriend, he said he needed it and he loves it. Only bad part is that you have to buy the cables separately.

Not a bad product at all, just not what I needed or what I was expecting. Not for using multiple internet devices at once, I still had to restart the modem every time I wanted to switch the internet out to another device.

Worked great out of the box, only issue I encountered was it wasn't very apparent where to plug in the source ethernet connection except some labeling on the front which still wasn't very clear. any ways the source input goes into port 4 so you end up with 4 ports that are usable.

Just plugged it in and everything else into it and it worked. I haven't noticed any downstream reduction in performance.

This switch works like advertised as far as i'm concerned. Plug the switch into an outlet and then plug in the Ethernet cable from the router into any port and you should be good to go after that.

One of the ports was malfunctioning and I had to return it. Otherwise is was sufficient for a netowrk switch.

Pretty simple device. I used it to branch off at my entertainment center as I only have one Ethernet coming in from my router and all I had to do was plug it in. Can't beat the price.

A no fuss 4 port ethernet switch. Doesn't care what ports you plug into. I have it connected to a Verizon Fios network adapater to provide ethernet to a number of home theatre devices and it works perfectly.

This switch has worked very well for multiple units for more than 2 years. I have not yet had a single problem with it. It does the job it was intended to do and well. The power port is located a little awkwardly but I would still rate it at 5 stars because it works so well.

I'm no techie, but this does exactly what I needed it to do without reading any directions. It split an ethernet connection so my daughter and her roommate didn't have to fight over the single connection. Done.

For the price, these "green" metal cased switches are great. Very happy with them, no problems at all. Recommended. Reasonable price for a good product.

This worked great. I needed a multi-switch to connect multiple things to my network AT ONCE to be used AT THE SAME TIME and this did the job. In my hindsight, I should have got the 10/100/1000 one.

My dorm room only has one Ethernet jack, so I bought this hoping it would work to duplicate the signal so that I could get internet to both my desktop and laptop without having to constantly switch cables. It worked great! One Ethernet cable from the wall into the box, and a cable from the box to each of the computers. I recently bought a print server and was hoping this device would also work with that, but unfortunately I did have to buy a router to get it to work for some reason. If you're just looking to split an Ethernet signal out of the wall, this works great!!

This is my 14th Trendnet Switch, having purchased most for school classrooms. Never once had any issue with these units. They are top of the line workhorses!
