I have a home entertainment system that uses four internet connected devices via ethernet (Dish reciever, Sony BluRay, Xbox 360 and Panasonic TV.) I have a wifi setup in my house that all of my computers wirelessly connect to for internet, but my router also has ethernet out ports for wired devices. My TV and components are 22 ft from the router with the wires concealed, and I considered at first just buying four 25 ft ethernet cables to hook them all up from the outs on the router. I saw this product and it was cheap enough to give it a go, and it works just like a phone cord splitter. There are no "in" or "out" ports on the unit, but as long as one line is hooked up to the modem, all of the other lines get broadband. I have a pretty simple set-up, and getting this instead of four 25 foot cables actually saved me a bunch of money, and eliminated the need to conceal four cables. I'm not sure if all four devices recieve the high speed broadband simultaneously, I'm going to guess that it's the job of a dedicated router to accomplish that task- but if you want to permanently connect four devices that don't all need to be using the internet at once, this does the trick.

This thing is tiny! It looks good, too. No installation is required, which is awesome, and it makes my wired connection work so much better and connect quicker than when I was just plugging into the wall. And, I can have 4 things on at once now, most importantly. Highly recommended.

I had this only a couple of days so can't speak to longevity but it does exactly what I expected which is plug and play and no data throughput loss.I tested this extensively with file transfer from my laptop to my desktop using a Netgear Powerline XAV101v2. (I reviewed that separately). I needed multiple ports across the house for my Receiver and DVD player. I did not want to buy wireless with a 4 port adapter (expensive and unreliable) or a 4 port Powerline. I preferred flexibility and the ability to troubleshoot a specific connection.After testing the Powerline and measuring throughput of 3.2 MBps average, I installed this switch and put my laptop behind it. Throughput did not reduce .. in fact tonight it is 4.8mb!It is very small, but does not come with a CAT5 cable. Did not bother me as I have spares, but note that you need another Ethernet cable. Use Monoprice for all and every cable and adapters. They have any length cable including HDMI and their prices and shipping cost are fantastic as is their customer support via chat. Absolutely no need for Monster's .. it's a rip off. I bought a 1' cable from the Powerline to the Switch.So great product. I recommend.

Using this to split (switch) signal from Uverse to the DVR unit, a BD player, my Onkyo Home theater receiver, and my Toshiba LCD TV so all these devices can share the single ethernet cable. All have connected accetpably to internet and home network using DLNA protocol. Much "cleaner" than trying to run separate ethernet cables and more reliable than wireless connections (if you read forums). Pleased with the unit.

I'm cheap.I bought this because I thought it was something I could use to have multiple ethernet cables running from it which would allow me to access the internet from my Xbox and laptop at the same time.Lesson learned: Dont be cheap, just go and buy a $40 router and set up WiFi in your home. This thing definitely confused me and I'm pretty sure I have no idea what it is supposed to be used for.

This is an excellent router/switch. It is small, compact, uses very little power (less than half of my previous LinkSys unit) and looks great.... classy clean design. Hook up and use was the LEAST difficulty I have ever had installing and using one of these.My old 4 slot unit had one of the inputs go bad(the input turned into an unput). I merely exchanged the power supply and plugged it all in.... that was it. No problems with communication with anything else! Flawless, clean, and directly inserted worked perfectly. I use it in my home business office to route my DSL, my printers and each of 3 computers into it..... everything linked instantly without one hick-up or oops to follow. ( I am still using WXP.)I would recommend this TRENDnet 8-Port to anyone needing up to 8 line inputs. So very nice! and the price cannot be better.... very reasonable. As always, when you buy through Amazon you have complete confidence that it will be right or it WILL be made right! Enjoy.

Works exactly like everything should. Open the box, plug it in, insert CAT5 cable and watch it go at 100Mbs.

Used this to split a single port on my Linksys router into multiple ports for use with several devices. Each device is getting full speed internet without any noticeable delay. With so many choices in hubs I chose the TREDnet model simply because the price. I don't see how a more expensive model could perform any better. I've only had the model for a week so I can't comment on the long term reliability however it feels solid and has worked perfectly so far. thank you Amazon for offering this great deal.

It installed without a problem, it works, and I forgot it was there. You can't really ask for more from a switch.Definitely a good deal if you need a basic switch after running out of ports on your router.

This switch worked spottedly with two of three devices I had going through it. However, it refused to work with my new Vizio television, the tv reported no ethernet signal was present. Ethernet cord was fine and I tried all five ports. So I got a router instead and bingo!, no issues with any device. So, in all I suggest you give this a miss.

I have been using 24/7 for 18 mo now and not a single problem. I really appreciate the low power capability. Every watt saved is $1/yr. Save 2 watts on average and you save $2yr. Over ten years savings pay for the cost of the product.

I bought this to hold a Halo2 Lan Party . It works well , and the eco friendly part im using lower voltage to power the Ethernet switch ! I had 6 xbox 360's hooked up to this so id have enough enemy's to kill and no screen cheating ! Works great looks like ill be having another lan Party soon .

I bought this switch christmas 2011. I thought it had a alot of ports for the price. Then, when I hooked my computer into it and my Obi110 voice adapter into it, when I went to download\upload large files on to my online storage, my obi110 calls would starting cutting in and out. I could hear the person on the other end just fine, they just kept telling me that I was cutting in and out. I had to keep disabling my LAN port on my computer just to talk on the phone. Now I have my Obi110 connected directly into my router. WARNING!!! THIS SWITCH IS NOT GOOD FOR HEAVY DOWNLOADING AND VOIP AT THE SAME TIME.

I needed a solution to expand my router (only had 4 ports) and this was easy! Just plug it to power and plug an Ethernet into it and off you go! No configuration needed!

Perfect for my needs. I have a single ethernet cable that I needed to split to give internet access to 2 computers - one Mac, one PC. Couldn't be easier. Just plug this into an electric outlet, put in ethernet cable and then connector cables going out to computers and it works perfectly. 1/3 the price of what a local store offered for their least expensive model.

Too easy.1. Plug switch into wall power.2. Plug router network line into one of the ports3. Plug other computers in the other ports and they'll be on the InternetThe first hi-tech device that actually doesn't need instructions - a driver - a masters degree in computer science. Get this and you too can have lots of wired lines to the internet. And isn't that really all we need anymore?bio

If your looking to split your lan line into multiple lines, this works like a charm. It automatically was detected by the router and created a UPNP exception for it. (make sure your router supports UPNP if you want to mimic this setup)So you can take one cat5 cable coming from your router, and split it into more.I took off one star because the picture shown is Black, but its actually an ugly blue color. Not a big deal but still bothers me a little.

I ordered this because I was sick of having to disconnect my ethernet from my PS3 or my Laptop and reconnect it every time I wanted to use one or the other. I know I could have used Wireless, but lets be honest people... Wireless sucks! So I bought this on sale and it's fantastic. Now I don't have to disconnect and reconnect anything anymore. There is no slow-down at all, this product is fantastic. Definitely would recommend.TRENDnet TE100-S5 5-Port Ethernet Switch (5 x 10/100Mbps Auto-MDIX RJ-45 Ports)

I purchased this switch to hook up my AV center components (TV, PS3, Wii, XBOX 360) to my wired home network to allow them to access the internet. At the price point of this device how could you not just spring for it? I got the item in two days (thanks prime!) and it was smaller than I expected at slightly longer than a box of playing cards. The device was easy to hook up, easy to zip tie to the back of my tv stand, and all the components that I hooked up to it worked and continue to work months later. The GREENnet switch works in full duplex mode of 100Mb up and 100Mb down and I have had zero issues with latency, bottlenecks, or dropped/unstable connections from the switch. The manual for the device says that it does not allow multiple devices to use the internet at one time. This however is not the case (at least with mine)as I've watched Netflix on VIA (Vizio Internet Apps) on my TV while downloading the latest firmware update for my PS3. I could not be happier with my purchase of this item. Once Verizon FioS releases a home router with gigabit Ethernet ports I will be upgrading to the gigabit Ethernet variant of this switch.
