I'm a college student and I have a laptop, xbox 360, and only one ethernet port in my dorm. This meant that every time I wanted to have high-speed internet (as opposed to the slow wi-fi), I could only have one device connected. I looked into a solution, and this is it! Now, I can watch netflix on my 360 while skyping on my computer. Definitely worth the $13. This device lets you have up to 4 devices sharing the same connection, and without the router specs that make them unworkable in something akin to a college dorm.It doesn't slow down the internet speed either. Good product!

Have had this unit for about a month and have to say that it really works well. I was surprised how small it is and how easy it is to use. Just plug in the a/c adapter and then plug your ehternet lines into it and thats it!

The switch works well just pluged in cables and power and on came the lights. I connected two Blueray DVDs for internet streaming videos

I really love this. If you're worried about the setup time, don't be, because there is none. You literally plug it into the ethernet port in your wall or your cable modem (using any of the ports on the back), then plug various devices into the other ports, and it works. You don't need to do anything else. It just works.

I needed to "split" an ethernet connection, and thanks to other Amazon reviews realized that I needed a "switch", not a splitter. I bought this, plugged it in, and then plugged in all the ethernet cords (one from the router, one from my computer, one for the Roku), and everything works just fine.

Got this as an add on switch, simply plugged it into my other switch and started plugging ethernet cables into it. So far, so good, everything that is plugged into it is working very well. The price was very, very good also, good product. I will buy again without reservation.

I can't really rate the item since I was unable to use it. However, it was odd that it was crushed inside a larger box that had NO visible damage. It actually looked like the item was crushed then placed in the shipping box. Sent back and received a refund.

This item was in a sealed shrink-wrapped package. The words DEFECTIVE were stamped on the back of the actual unit. Parts were missing. Typical online purchase. Next time I will go to an actual store. Sent this beauty back months ago-no refund yet. i was deeply disappointed in this purchase

I have an Xbox, a desktop, a laptop, and a network printer, all previously utilizing wireless internet. After becoming irritated with some of the problems WiFi presented (slower speeds, disconnections, etc), I felt it was time to buy a network switch. After poking around on Amazon for a while, I was a bit incredulous when I saw a network switch on Amazon for under $15. I had planned to spend over $50 when I started shopping for a hub, and was quite shocked to see that there was a product that retails far below that.I eagerly bought the switch and, although I selected the free 2-day shipping option, the switch arrived the next day (thank you Prime!). I quickly set up the switch and plugged in my Brother laser printer, my Xbox, my laptop, and my desktop. Everything worked wonderfully, but my Xbox Live kept disconnecting every 3-5 minutes. After much frustration, I realized that I needed to lower my network router's firewall settings. Once I did this, I had NO problems WHATSOEVER with staying connected to Xbox Live.The Good:*The price*4 ports*Very fast--my Xbox gets extremely low ping speeds and I am able to clock my desktop connection at 20 Mbps when connected through this switch.*Plug and Play capability. It was nice not needing to configure the switch to adapt to my network, as I only had to plug it in and watch it work. Which leads me to...The Bad:*Overly simplistic. There is no way (that I can find) that I can type in an IP address or otherwise connect with this switch and change settings. This doesn't affect me, but I'm sure there are network users that this will affect. Thanks to this, there is no way for Trendnet to provide a firmware update to the users of this switch. But then again, it is a $12 switch.*Too small. This switch probably weighs barely 1/2 pound. When connected to 5 cat5 cables going in different directions, it is hard to set this switch on a desk or desktop without the cables pulling down on it and the switch moving around. I solved this by buying Scotch(R) Heavy-Duty Fasteners, 2 Sets of 1 x 3 Inches, Strips ,Black (RFD7091).Overall, this switch was a great (and negligible) investment. I highly recommend it for someone who wants to split one connection into up to 4 blazing fast connections.

Splitting the signal from my cable modem to my XBox 360 and my desktop computer does not work. This should be stated in the description to prevent people like myself from purchasing something that is useless for cable modem owners. I get activity light but no signal to the XBox. So I'm out my purchase and shipping cost. Too much hassle to repack and ship back. Very disappointed.

works as should. All devices visible on network after plugging in LAN wires. Just purchased another unit (gigabite version). Excellent price and would recommend to others.

Bought this December 11, 2010, and it failed this week. bummer. worked great until then.It was in a very full, rather warm wiring cabinet. It only cost $13 so it is hard to get too worked up about it and I can take it to the electronics recycling place. The space is really tight, so I may actually buy another one.

Bought this to share files between PC's. Works great and easy to set up. This isn't a network router so don't expect to share one internet connection with a bunch of PC's.

I bought this because I originally ran one 100' Ethernet cable from my Router to my Blu-Ray player through the attic. I got a DirecTV box shortly after, that has internet capabilities, and then an XBox 360 with the same. I realized moving the one plug around to the three devices would be a bit of a challenge. I bought this switch and it works perfectly with my E3000 router. For the tech-savvy out there, I did not have to use a crossover cable.

We recently had to network our entire house and between the two wireless N-Routers this unit was the least of the worry when it came to setup. One end is attached with 50ft Cat5e cable and the other with 25ft Cat5e. Never had an issue since day one.I know some people are picky about colors and how they look but it's black, light and really doesn't take up much space so there really isn't much to point out.

This switch works great. Took it out of the box plugged it up to my router and everything works great. Have 2 computers an xbox and wii running off it.

I ordered this because I needed to hook up my Magic Jack and my Blu Ray player and everything is working great and if I needed another port I would buy this and recommend this to anyone that needs one.

I ordered this switch for a specific project and it works so well I am ordering another for myself. To test it I connected two wireless routers and both worked perfectly. There are any number of combinations in which it can be used. Very useful piece of equipment!!!

got it, plugged it in no setup necessary it just worked. for 12 bucks this saved me having to have 2 35 foot cables coming from my router. pretty conveinent
