I ordered this to split my internet between a credit card machine and a gift card machine for my small ice cream shop here in Boston. I plugged this switch into an electrical outlet, then plugged in the internet cable. Then I ran one cable each from the Trendnet switch to each card machine (credit card, gift card). It worked like a charm. Nothing to set up, just worked right out of the box as it should. It's inexpensive and it works, what more can one ask for. Thanks Trendnet!

I purchased the TRENDnet 5-Port Ethernet Switch because I had one 50 foot long cat5 ethernet cable running from my Netgear wireless router and needed to connect both my Panasonic blu ray player and my Onkyo receiver to the router. Plugged in the 50 foot cat5 ethernet cable to the TRENDnet. Used one blue and one yellow 3' cat5 cables (not included) to connect the Panasonic blu ray and Onkyo receiver to the TRENDnet. Powered on the Trendnet. Total time to install and stream Netflix was 2 minutes. It was that easy.HIGHLY Recommend!

I had absolutely no luck with this. Purchased it because of the good reviews and the price, but it never worked. Only good for a paper weight.

I am satisfied with this product. This is my first ethernet switch. I purchased this item after reading a lot of reviews. For the price and features, this product is great. It was easy to set up. Although the labelling of ports as to which can be used as input is rudimentary, it is logical to use the first port that is next to the "power" LED. So, essentially, this is a 4-port switch. I have a single Comcast cable account (single IP address) and I use this switch to split the internet connection between my LCD TV (to browse the internet from the couch, watch movies on NetFlix) using my Wii console and my laptop so that I can use either to connect to the internet. It works great without any issues. So the switch enables a single IP address to be split between one computer and other non-computer devices like a gaming console. You cannot use more than one computer using a switch. You will need a wired/wireless router which incidentally I bought ( a wired TRENDnet 4-Port Broadband router for $25.00) subsequently and am currently using. More details on this when I write my review for the router which is working great. I am still using the switch to split the internet connection at the TV end to connect to another laptop. The possibilities are endless. BTW, I bought all the cables, router, Wii LAN adapter, etc from Amazon.

Did what it did, great price for a 5 port switch. I use to split the LAN for my kids room printer and computers. no nose and works great.why buy 2x of the cost for the brand name stuff but work the same.

This product was installed in one of my outbuildings and had three web cams running on it. I added controlbynet's X301 WebRelay Internet switch to it and I could NOT communicate with the appliance, I would get maybe a 25% ping response rate (or usually 0%.) For a day I thought I had a problem with the X301. It would work fine in the house on the LAN, but once in the outbuilding - no go.The three web cams seemed to work okay which initially led me to believe the problem was with the X301 device. To make a long troubleshooting story short (I've got hours of time in running down this problem), I bought another switch (a D-Link) and the X301 and the three web cams were extremely happy (and reliable.)I've been a geek for a very long time, but I've never run into anything like this before. My only conclusion is the bandwidth of this little switch isn't good enough to handle the kind of traffic I was subjecting it to. Not sure I would ever take a chance again on a product from this company (I was going to say manufacturer, but there are few of them and many businesses selling products essentially designed and produced offshore.)

I bought this so that I could have multiple computers and gaming devices plugged into the wired network simultaneously, since wireless coverage is way too slow for my tastes. Thankfully, this little black box does the job perfectly. If you have multiple devices that need to share a single network jack, pick one of these up. Well worth the low price.

I needed something inexpensive to use in a classroom to add more computer stations. This product fit the bill perfectly; it is a plug and play device that took little time to set up and become operational. I will order more for other classrooms at my school.

died within two weeks ... support by email only ...you as the user are responsible for the mailing which makes it cheaper to dump the item.Buy a Netgear instead.

Bought this about 2 years ago,packed my old G wireless router away & hooked my puters up with ethernet wires to this thing. Very small. never hardly gets warm & works like a champ. All puters share one printer & if someone wants to use their laptop I just hand em a ethernet cabe & let em plug in. Simply flawless performace.

The very small size is highly desirable, excellent metal construction is a very good detail/plus, unit runs very cool, after 12hrs plus, the heat dissipates fairly well. I don't recall seeing any documentation, or if it was there i probably didn't pay much attention to it. No problems with hooking it up, basically plug-n-play. Front panel display is basic but adequate design, and gives you quick diagnosis of all connections. It is wired from the rear, keeps the desk area clean and orgainized. The unused ports are supposed to have internal circuitry to automatically reduce in power consumption at those ports, making this a "green" design. so far i've had it over a month with no issues.

I got this switch because I only have one Ethernet port in my bedroom. I am very surprised by its size, weight, and functionality. Also, I was able to mount it on the wall right next to the Ethernet port with no problems. Currently, I have four Ethernet cables plugged into it.1. My Desktop computer. This is always on, and I am almost always downloading something or playing online games.2. My Playstation 3. Again, almost always playing online games (I have a roommate, so sometimes they are both being used at the same time)3. My laptop computer, for when I am video chatting or doing some bandwidth- intense surfing4. An extra cord for when my roommate/friends come over and they plug in their laptops for faster download speedsI have never had a problem where one device was slowing down another, but I have fairly fast internet at home so that may contribute to the speeds. The reliability and functionality of this device makes me forget its there sometimes.

Take a look at the specifications -- this switch is actually on the small side, which is nice, unless you like your switches bulky. As for the functionality, there's not much to say: it passes packets back and forth, and the lights blink off and on.

This 8-port GREENnet ethernet switch works perfectly for my needs. I use it to connect my TV, PS3, and HD satellite receiver to a single ethernet connection for my home network, with ports to spare for future home theater components.Not much need for documentation. This item is purely plug and play....the easiest I've ever seen.Unlike a regular ethernet switch, the unused ports are consuming less power (40% less) which will save a little money on my electric bill. This power reduction also occurs when a connected component is turned off.This is my second TrendNet purchase, having previously bought a wireless access point to extend the range of my wireless home network. Both TrendNet products were easy to install, plug and play. Whenever I get around to replacing my old Belkin router, I will surely buy a TrendNet GREENnet router.Very satisfied - I recommend this product.

This is a compact switch a little larger than a cigarette pack. It works well and sits unobtrusively behind my HTPC/Internet TV/AV receiver console. I use it to connect my HTPC and an internet TV box to the internet via a 100 ft CAT5e cable I ran out to my TV room from my internet router.I've used it to copy 6GB files to my HTPC from my PC and I got throughput of about 8.9 megabytes/sec which is quite decent for 100Mbit ethernet. No problems with dropped connections or connectivity in the two weeks I've had it.

I was faced with a situation wherein there was one wire going to a desktop, and I needed some way to also wire in a blu-ray player to get Netflix on it. A router was more money and hassle than I wanted to go through, and there was no way of running another cable through through the wall to feed the blu-ray player.I figured this might do the job, and it works like a charm! Of course, we only use one at a time, NEVER both. With that in mind, it works flawlessly. Sometimes Netflix has to buffer, but I think that is our unreliable internet coming from our ISP.Bottom line: This is the most bang for your buck to share a connection between multiple devices if you only ever use one at a time. For that purpose, this is PERFECT.

I needed to find a solution to connect my stereo gear to the internet because some of the new equipment required internet connection to stream audio/video and to update the hardware. This TRENDnet switch works flawlwssly. The best points:- It is very small and hides well behind all of the stereo equipment.- It only gives full power to occupied ports to save energy.- brainless setup- sturdy build with a metal caseI just plugged the internet connection from my DSL router into port one and everything else into the other ports and I was good to go.

I bought this with the Netgear WNCE 2001 wireless adapter and plugged the adapter into it to make my xbox360 and blueray player wireless and it works flawlessly. I am very happy with my purchase. Hope this helps.
