First and foremost I am not giving this product a Five Starbecause of the Cash value; because I have no problem spending money on items thatI truly believe is worth having so in contrast I am rating it a Five Star because for it's Pure Performance.I teamed it up with Cat 6 UTP Ethernet Cable, Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapteron my MacBook Pro Retina Display and I am loving the true performance I am getting 85/33 Download and Upload speed.Truly a Fantastic product very much worth having.

I needed more ethernet ports on the back of my Router. Instead of running two Routers and risking interference and other issues, I opted for this. Gosh, the first thing I noticed is that it's cheap! Secondly, it's totally plug and play. I was expecting the router to act funny or lose connection with my devices, but no, the switch works flawlessly.Now, I do have low network usage devices attached to it, so I don't know what would happen with high-volume traffic, but It works great for several print servers, radio, and a world ethernet telephone that I own through the U.S. Government.You should just buy this, plug it in, and don't worry about it. I don't even need instructions. However, don't use this and expect to get multiple computers through one ethernet port to your router or hub. I would never expect that. You would be running slow and glitched.

This might well be a good product if you don't mind that while using it only ONE computer can access the internet. The brochure that accompanies the device indicates this fact in the FAQ section but it wasn't mentioned in the ad. Since I bought it to use on several computers and to stream videos at the same time, it wasn't right for me. In these days, when most things are wi-fi, this device is rather redundant.

When I bought this I was hoping I would be able to plug one ethernet cable into the ethernet jack in my wall and this device,and then plug another ethernet cable into my laptop and to this device,and then a 3rd ethernet cable into my ps3 and to this device,and then be able to use internet on the laptop and ps3 simultaneously.But unfortunately that for some stupid reason requires "2 ips" as the Indian broken-english-speaking TRENDnet phone support guy told me.So if you were hoping to use internet simultaneously on multiple devices with the device, think again.I literally just threw it in the trash, not even worth sending back or keeping.

Tried three different VOIP carriers and the only thing besides VOIP they had in common is that this model does not work with their systems. Had to purchase netgrear f105 intead. Total waste of money for an outdated product. I do not mean outdated by windows XP being it's primary working system, because that was not it. The unit just could not handle sending and receiving simple signals like other unmanaged 10/100 switches. Not just one either, 5 switches and none worked!

Best thing I can say about this switch is that I forget that it's there. It's a small unit so I didn't need to find a lot of space for it and it just works. There was no setup, just plugged in the power, plugged in the ethernet from the router, and plugged in the ethernet to the two computers I was hooking up, and I was connected to the internet on both before I could get sat down in my chair. I am using this to connect 2 computers to an ethernet port on a Lynksys wireless router located over 150 feet away and I have great, uninterupted upload and download speeds on both.

I have a cable input into my apartment. Was hoping to use this to connect both my TV (Netflix) and computer to that modem with this device. It doesn't work. I still have to pull and swap. My modem refuses to recognize the ending device without powering down then back up. Also the design is a bit light. Item comes with recommendation NOT to put anything on top of it due to heat, but its so light back connections pull it off level. Needs a little more weight.

This ethernet switch is just what I needed and only $10 shipped to my door!! All I had to do was plug it in and plug the ethernet cable from internet to one port and the one from my computer to another. No set up, no drivers to load, no password. Couldn't be any easier. It's very small and compact and light. Will sit very unobtrusively by the computer or can be mounted on the wall. Highly recommended!

This switch was simple to install. Plug in the power, attach ethernet cables, and my devices were up and runiing in less than 5 minutes. This is nothing fancy, but it will allow me to split my internet connectio with four other devices.The case is plastic (and light) so I could see the potential of the ethernet cables moving the device, but with hat being said, there are two screw slots on the back where the unit could be securely mounted to a wall, bench, or vene your desk if you desire. This is a nice, compact swith that does the job, and doesn't take up too much room. This was a great purchase and the installation was a no brainer, even if you aren't a "Techy".

I bought this assuming it would offer a single solution to a maxed out 5-port Netgear switch. Had I know the directions noted that it was not designed to share an internet connection, I would not have purchased it. As it is, by the time I used it, I was outside the return period from Amazon. It was only after repeated complaints from family members that the internet was not working, that I read the instructions (my own fault). I assumed all switches were designed to share an internet connection, another mistake on my part. If I just wanted to connect multiple items to a server or shared PC or printer, it works OK. While I am sure the more network proficient will criticize my assumptions and conclusions, I find that a small switch that is unable to share an internet connection rather useless. A small switch like this one appears designed for home users, and what do home users frequently use a networked PC or appliance for, but to connect to the internet? Definitely not recommended for home use. I ended up getting a Netgear 8-port switch and it appears to work fine sharing the internet.

I like the Switch a lot and use it all the time. My only complaint would be that it's a little funny to use. It says 8-Port but you need one for the uplink. The strange thing is it doesn't indicate which port is for the uplink. I later found out it could be any one of the ports. That sounds great but for me, I'd rather they call it a 7-Port switch, and have a dedicated uplink port on labeled on the device.I do really like Trendnet though and have gone to them for several networking needs. I'd recommend this on that name alone.

I bought this to add a second item to a single network outlet. I connected it to the network and connected both items to it and it worked fine. Cost was good and simple connection. I have another switch in the house that "feels/looks" like higher quality but bottom line this does what I wanted it to do and at a good price. I am rating 4 stars only because it looked flimsy but it works fine. I have had it now for about 4 weeks and it is still working fine.

I ran a 50' ethernet cable from our router to another room to this switch. With that cable in port one and the PC and printer connected to ports 2 and 3 everything worked just fine. The PC can connect to the internet and we can use the printer wirelessly from out iPhones and iPads.

This little switch works perfectly, i only had one Ethernet connection in my bedroom for my computer and the WiFi kept dropping off on my XBOX so i got this so i could hard-wire my XBOX along with my computer and man this works perfectly; with both connected i haven't seen any drop in speed and now my XBOX doesn't time out. Cant beat the price!!!

Very simple appliance; ergo, pure 'plug and play' to provide connection sharing from one existing Ethernet feed to 4 separate devices. It was just the ticket when I bought a Roku and needed to split the laptop's data connection from the DSL modem.I didn't want to spend a lot, and I knew from previous experience that TRENDnet is the real deal for networking devices. This purchase hasn't disappointed me yet, 37 months later. It just works, always, and that's as it should be. Who wants to be plugging and unplugging to reset connectivity? Not I! No regrets here. The only other item you need is a pair of Ethernet cables to go along with this switch.

I recently received a Mac laptop for work and wanted to be able to use the remote desktop connection (to connect to my Windows laptop) for the programs that aren't available yet through our corporate app store. I only have one ethernet connection in my office and was looking for a solution when I found this. I was worried by the lack of instructions when I opened the box, but everything was very simple and it 'just worked' when I connected everything.I'll mostly use this in my office for that remote desktop connection, but this device is very small & light and I'll consider bring this on future business trips for when there's a conference room with limited connections.

Relocated my Xbox slim to another room. I did not want to shell out almost $60.00 for a pair of rabbit ears. Bought this little box, easy too hook up and increases internet speed too. It says it has 5 ports, but one, any of the five ports has too be used for the router too plug into. The instructions are a little confusing, it says too plug your computer into it using a cat5 or 6 to an available port. It only says that you must have a computer with a network adapter installed, for minimum requirement. Not so, just unplug the ethernet cat 5 or 6 from your computer and insert it into any port, i used port 1. So my ethernet cable is now running from my router to my switch rather than the computer. Now plug the computer into it and any game console. Plug the adapter into the switch and the plug the switch into a power supply. Bingo, you are up and running.

Light weight box with a bunch of ports in it. Not much else, but when do you really need? My sons room only has one network drop but he has a laptop, wii, and appleTV. Wifi is good, but not the best for all that streaming and this switch solved the problem.

I have two devices in my bedroom that require Internet access. I ran a single Ethernet cable to the bedroom and use this switch to connect to the two devices. It works great in this application. Just connected all three cables to the box and everything worked first try. Good value for the money.

Had ordered too many switches - got this 16 port & realize I needed a 24 port. Put this one away for a while when it arrived - then suddenly had an old Linksys 5 port die - it was soooo nice having this as a backup - put an 8 port in the place of the dead 5 port & then put this where the old 8 port was. Small, compact, but works like a good dream. A nice little switch for the bucks!

I purchased this switch because I needed something to handle my TiVO and Roku in my bedroom. Didn't need a gigabit switch since neither device uses gigabit, so this one fit the bill and is still working almost a year later without any issues.

Ok first I want to say that this is a very well made item, came packaged great. The problem I have is not the sellers fault. I was told by someone that this is what I needed to make my one RJ45 port coming out of my cable modem into more ports. So I ordered this device. And it's not what I need. And since it was my fault they would take 8 dollars of the 14 I paid for it. So it didn't make dollars and sense to ship it back so I kept it. If and when I find out what it is that is needed to make this happen, and this seller has that item I would order from them again..

I needed to "split" a single Ethernet connection between my Direct V box (for DTV on demand) and my Sony BluRay DVD player (for Netflix streaming)so I did not have to keep swapping the cable back and forth. This little Trend-net gem really fit the bill. It is small, lightweight and completely unobtrusive. The best part is there is no setup, completely plug and play. Look no further, you found what you are looking for!

I have several Trendnet switches, and they have all worked flawlessly. Like its older brothers, the plug on the power cord doesn't require more than one outlet on a crowded power supply, and the small size makes it easy to tuck in nearly anywhere.
