I found this product while looking for a way to split the LAN at my job into two. We get one ethernet cord running to our desk and that's it. I was worried that my company would have some kind of block to not allow this to happen (they don't allow streaming video, audio, etc... so they block a lot of things). I found the unit on sell (about half price) and decided it was worth the price to try it. I tried it at home at first and it worked great (I have a router at home, so don't really need this at home, but just wanted to make sure it worked at home so if it didn't at the office, then I'd know it wasn't the device). I unplugged the ethernet from one computer, plugged this in and plugged in two computers. So, basically, there was one ethernet cord going from the router to the TRENDnet box and two computers branched off from there. Worked great - no set up needed, just plug-n-play. So, now for the big test: I took it to work. Worked with no big problems - same plug-n-play. The only thing is that when I plug my computer directly to the work LAN, it says the connection at 1 GBPS, but through this device, it shows up as 100 MBPS. I can't really tell any problems so far with speed - everything is working as normal, but now I have online access on both my work computer and my laptop. So, for me, this device works as advertised and meets my needs.PS - sorry for my non-technical review, but I'm no tech expert!PPS - don't forget you'll need an additional ethernet cord to make this connection. I didn't think of it at first, but luckily remembered before I finished my transaction and was able to pick up a cheap 3-footer.

Plug 4 PC/laptop in and it works right away. However, I probably should have spent another $5 on getting the Cisco/Linksys SD205 5-port 10/100 Switch instead. The Cisco one is more sturdy, offers one more port, and supports higher bandwidth.

I received the TRENDnet 5-Port 10/100Mbps Ethernet Switch in the mail and it took longer to take it out of the box than it did to hook it up and have it working. I have used it for two months with absolutely no problems. I have also not detected any connection speed loss by running popular internet speed tests. For the price this is an excellent product.

Great price I wish it was a gigabit though since sometimes multiple hd streams kill the bandwidth other than that its making all my products in a central area perform better than wireless of course.

I needed to "split" a single Ethernet connection between my DirecTV box (for DTV on demand) and my Samsung BluRay DVD player (for Netflix streaming)so I did not have to keep swapping the cable back and forth. This little Trendnet gem really fit the bill. It is small, lightweight and completely unobtrusive. The best part is there is no setup, completely plug and play. Look no further, you found what you are looking for!Update 06/16/2011: My orginal ethernet splitter is still working great and I recently bought another one for my game room. Seriously, buy this item!

UPDATED: Worked great for 2 years, but then, I changed the internet service provider to AT&T, and this stopped working for multiple devices. Apparently all AT&T modems have a restriction where the same IP address gets assigned to each device connected via this switch (this was not the case with the other provider). So, only the device I start first gets connected to the web. No other devices can get connected. I had to stop using this switch and buy an AT&T modem to make multiple connections work at the same time.In summary, this does NOT work if you have AT&T internet service.

I was a little skeptical at first because of the low price BUT I needed something on my Entertainment Center to switch internet options (ROKU to Media Center(NuVue)). Well, this did the trick and I have been very pleased with the results. Construction wise ,it's all plastic but it will perform properly and that is all that counts...

I have two of these, they just work, end of story. Yay!Other reviewers have noted that the setup guide says it's not for hooking multiple computers up to the internet. That language wasn't in the docs for the units I got. I'm guessing that they were just trying to say "This is not a router. It does not firewall, and it doesn't provide DHCP service. It just extends the reach of a router by adding more physical ports to the network.", and that's true of any switch or hub. You most likely already have a router (or "gateway"), so don't worry about it.

Used this to extend my wired network to my Sony BRAVIA V-Series KDL-46V5100 46-Inch 1080p 120Hz LCD HDTV, Black, PlayStation 3 80 GB and Wii. Worked right out of the box with no issues what so ever. comes with a 6ft power and instruction manual.

I just hooked up the cables, and it worked right away. I don't have any problems for 3 months now. I simply don't remember its existence. It is the most inexpensive switch I can find, and it is small. Cannot have a better deal than this. Highly recommended.Upadate on 4/25/2012: It dies after one and half years. I use this switch for two printers to share the network. Printer are constatntly not responding. Or they will print after a long time. At frist I didn't thinnk switch is the one to blame. Unfortunately it is the one. I took two stars off this. it is cheap, but quality is not great.

I needed some more ethernet ports in my home network to attach a network storage device. Ordered one of these based on positive reviews. Opened it up, plugged a cable in from my router, plugged in the other things I needed to this switch. Everything worked perfectly! What a relief! You do not need to know anything to use this switch. It figures out which plug is getting the input signal and then switches it to the other three ports. Everything should be this painless.

Used this for my entertainment area since I needed to hook both my Dish DVR and Sony Blue Ray to the internet. This and a couple of cables and I'm all set! Price is right too.

I got one of these a while back for my home network, and it has worked great. Because of this, when I needed some switches for a network I was building at my church, I ordered 3 of these. Alas, I couldn't get them to work with their older 10BaseT network - for some unknown reason it would connect with the network but it wouldn't work with the church's DHCP server. I opened 2 of them and they both had the same result. I tried one of them at home and it worked fine, so I don't think they were defective - there was just some kind of incompatibility. I borrowed a Netgear switch from my work and tried it and it worked, so I ordered 3 of the same model NETGEAR FS608 8-Port Fast Ethernet Switch to replace the TRENDnets. They have been working great. I returned the 3 TRENDnets and Amazon was great enough to refund nearly the entire amount for them even though I had opened 2 of them. That's why I just love Amazon!!

This thing is about the size of the average man's wallet, both length and height. The power brick can hardly be called a brick as it is about half the size of the unit. I'm using this as a bridge in detached room about 70 feet away from the router located inside the house. It works with no problems and there is no virtually no setup.

This little light switch works like a champ.. I have 3 PCs connected to this box for almost a year now and no problem so far... easy to set up (plug and play) and the connection speed is fast. What a bargain! I would buy it again.

I am very happy with this little blue switch. No configuration needed. Just plug in the cables and this little box figures out which line feeds the others. Simplicity! I'm using it for my PS3, Cable Box, and XBOX 360. No issues whatsoever! Highly recommended!

If you need to split one ethernet connection 2-4 ways, this is a great and simple way to do it. The product is very self-explanatory and just works. Would recommend it to anyone.

Wanted to use this little item to split internet connection from a Netgear HDX101 powerline adapter located behind my media cabinet. Needed internet access to Blu-Ray player, DirectTV receiver, XBOX 360, and AVR receiver. Didn't know if it would work with a powereline adapter. As another reviewer has noted, the literature with the switch says it will only allow 1 internet connection. This is WRONG! I am now running 4 internet devices off the switch instead of a single device at the powerline adapter. Had spoke with 3 Netgear tech support types who said it could not be done in the manner I describe, that I would need an additional HDX101 for each add'l internet device. One $20 switch vs 3 add'l HDX101's at $65 ea??? Pretty simple math!!Great product!! Just plug and Play!!

My main desktop and router are on the opposite side of my HTPC, Xbox 360 and Blu-Ray player. I run one long cable from the router over to the other side of the room and used this baby to split the internet connection between the 3 devices. Works flawlessly. I am now able to have all three devices connected without having to manually switch myself. A must have for setups where multiple internet devices are in close proximity. Highly recommended!

As with other reviews, this little guy worked perfectly and was plug and play, no setup required. I wish everything with computers could be this easy.
