I got this because of a mail in rebate. It works great with my verizon FiOS router used as a modem (I disabled the radio so I could get the wireless N out of this one). I also notice increased speed in wired connections since this is a gigabit router. There are better routers out there but for the price/performance I couldn't beat this one.

I've owned many routers before and the brand I dislike most are Linkys. I've done very little research on these TP-Link routers but they gave been solid. This is the second one I've owned and all I got to say is these are so simple to setup that it's fool proof. For business I will only use Netgear bc they are the most reliable hardware built thus far but man, I'm leaning towards TPLINK everything. The range provided for all my wireless toys is phenomenal! I get signal across the street from my neighbors house! I will continue to support this company so long as they keep up with the good work and make it easy to use.

This router has been great. It was very easy to set up. I have a small apartment but, I haven't had any drops do to the router and I get service no matter where I am. I've always been wired, this is my first wireless router and I did not have any problems getting started. The CD that it came with was useful for my PC. My Mac automatically recognized the device and worked immediately. Great product and great price.

This quick review is for the TP-LINK WP1043ND wireless router.This thing has been nothing but a pain. If you don't mind rebooting every couple of days than it is a bargain. I have kept up with every update tplink has released but no change.. I only give it one star because when it works it is fast. Otherwise junk.

I bought this router for a few key reasons over other better known units: price, gigabit ethernet, 802.11n, and (most importantly to me) hackability. I can't stand most routers' stock firmware. The interface is typically very clunky, and many features and options I like to have at my disposal are unavailable. This router is fully supported by the DD-WRT project, and it works perfectly.This router is fine out of the box for the average user who doesn't want to spend a whole lot of time setting it up, but if you're more of a power user this is definitely one worth getting. I prefer having the external antennae over the internal ones many routers now have. It's nice to be able to position the antennae for optimum throughput and range, and to be able to swap them out if you want different ones. I also use a Roku 2 XS that I have connected via ethernet, so having Gigabit is a bonus.Admittedly it's not the most stylish router on the market, but it's a lot more capable and customizable than the designer ones.You can't go wrong with this box. Highly recommended.

I definitely suggest throwing DD-WRT on it, and crank the transmit power up, it'll smooth it right out. I had some issues with the stock firmware, so I put DD-WRT on it, make sure you read up on the process for this unit. It's a little different, there is a process you have to go through to DD-WRT and have the WAN port work, total process took me under 20min. No More hiccups.

Not bad if you don't mind rebooting it nearly every day! Fully updated, configured and used with a range of computers and phones yet. . . still locks up from time to time. But I guess I can take solace in the fact that I'm not alone. Perhaps this router isn't really meant for much home-use beyond one computer.

The installation CD is not readable, I end up downloading software from their website, but you have to know which file to download it is very confusing, and if you download wrong file you may destroy the router. And it is not faster then my 10 years old Actiontec.

Got it 3 months ago, followed instructions and in 5 minutes all laptops, phones and Xbox in the house were up and running, streaming videos and doing fast online gaming with no problem. Fast and simple. Period.

This unit replaced a Linksys WRT54G that I had for almost 10 years. I swore by that Linksys router as I never had any issues with it. It just worked. I've had this model above for around 5 months and it's been rock solid with excellent documentation to get you started. Make sure you get the latest firmware when you install it. The directions walk you through the very short process.

I've been using routers and wireless connections for over ten years. This is the best router I've had, by far. I bought it to upgrade from a perfectly good old wireless-g setup. Whoever designed the TP-LINK TL-WR1043ND paid great attention to detail. No hardware or software clunkiness here, suitable for novices and experienced users alike. It automatically addresses a certain "gotcha" of some DSL modems. In an included instruction sheet it tells you how to take care of a silly "gotcha" of some cable Internet service providers, when you replace one router by another.I normally prefer not to use hand-holding installation "wizards" but to configure manually by logging into the built-in Web server in the router. This time I decided to make an exception and to use the wizard on the included CD. I was able to get almost all the configuration features I wanted. The only feature I had to add manually was wireless MAC address filtering, which allows me to restrict access not only with WPA2-PSK security (done within the wizard) but also to restrict access to a list of computers I specify.The range is good, but as high-definition streaming contect through devices such as Roku located very far from the router may become an issue in the future, I've ordered the TP-LINK TL-ANT2403N booster antenna.

Maybe i got a bad unit, but I finally gave up after several months of use. I had to reset the unit once every three days, and eventually daily. I have since flashed with DD-WRT, and am using as a wireless bridge, but will not trust this as my primary router going forward.

The reason I bought this router as I needed to upgrade from my current Linksys wrt150N router to a 300mbps router. I am a big fan of Linksys as I never had any issues with them. When looking for a new router, I was impressed with this router's features and the price tag and wanted to give it a try.This router initially worked pretty good and was able to give me a decent signal even from my basement to the second floor. But recently after couple of weeks, it started dropping wireless signals. The only way to connect it back would be to do a hard reset of the router. This router has some great features for the price but due to the flakiness of the signal, I might return it and go with soemthing like Linksys which I have always used and never had issues.

While I've used wireless networks for years, this would be the first one I would set up entirely by myself for a friend's parents. I found the specs on this one excellent for the money. I also found tech support from the California tech support (not the main number) to be very helpful. His instructions were MUCH easier than using the CD or the manual. The only thing lacking in the documentation was the IP address (it should have been on the unit), but the tech gave me the 192.168.1.1 address and away we went!

My ipad keeps getting disconnected from this router and it's getting more frequent, almost every single day I have to access the tp-link router interface and reboot it. Usually this works but i have also had to subsequently reboot the cable modem. The ethernet continues to work for my main computer. I have now had this router for about 3 months.when it works, this router is good. I only bought it to get internet connection with my new ipad but after about a week of use it started dropping out, meaning that i had to enter the 192.168.1.1 into a browser window on my computer (wired with ethernet through the router) and reboot the router. Now, imagine having to do this every day. What's the point?! It's obviously not fit for the purpose advertised, not to mention a complete pain in the neck!Perhaps the radio transmission is not robust enough, as I have tried changing the channel. Some routers have 20 or 30 channels available but this one only has 13. I tried them all, just in case the neighbours are using the same frequency and knocking me out. And by the way, distance is not an issue as the drop-outs occur even when the ipad is right next to or nearby the router.One thing to note: my ipad (3rd gen.) works flawlessly everywhere else. Set-up and connection is easy and it remembers all other wireless connections.

This review is not meant to be all inclusive but we have cable with 10Mbps down and 1.5Up data rates.. I moved the old wireless TP-Link TL-WR841ND wireless router from the upstairs computer room and just patched the ethernet cable that went to the downstairs office, where most of the equipment resides, to the output of the cable modem and then plugged the downstairs cable into the wireless router. This left the upstairs computer room without a direct wired connection to the internet. Enter the TP-Link TL-WN822N 300 Mbps high gain USB wireless adapter to re-connect the upstairs computer room.I purchased the TL-WR1043ND on sale from Amazon because I wanted the 1000Mbps ethernet connecting my T61 Lenovo notebook, Dell main desktop and a core-duo work notebook so I could transfer large files rapidly. The wired part of the router more than doubled my transfer speed. The system wirelessly connects another T23 notebook, smartphone, rooted Nook color, TV computer and upstairs computer via the WN822N. The bad news is that the router locks up about once a week and this wreaks havoc by the time we figure it out the house is in a tizzy.I am strongly considering the replacement of the WR1043ND with the WR841ND for the wireless part and using the WR1043ND just as a 1000 Mbps switch. I have come to expect more from TP-Link and am disappointed in this model. It appears to be an issue with the router as I do not have to reset the cable modem. I have the latest software installed so it may be a hardware issue in the router.

If you have used other Tp-link products, the setup was a breeze. The setup is how the old linksys products used to be. The range is great. Works excellent in tandem with my Tp-link dedicated access point. I would highly recommend this product.The only con is that it does not do ipv6. Not a concern for now as my provider does not offer ipv6.

Have had a Tplink TL-WR740N for three years and it was great. This one died yesterday (Friday) late and it was after 5 when the trouble was pinpointed. Today is 31st day since I ordered it, but only the 26th day I have had it. Opted to replace, but Almazon has sent UPS mailing label & they say must be there by 17th. Drove 13.5 miles one way to get in real UPS store, but nothing will go out till Mon. the 17th. Interesting delima. If they don't credit me for old one; I am paying more than I paid before for questionable router. Hope Amazon does as well as Newegg has for me. This router puts out a better signal than the last one and has worked fine. On the web at 2:30 lost web between then and 3:30, was after 5 when old router was put online so no way to get bad roiuter shipped yesterday.We will see. If amazon comes thru and new router works, will be 5 star happy with it.

I live on the other side of the country and my mom no longer has anyone techsavvy close. I did have a BSD box running locally with a wireless access point running at her house but since I was no longer local it wasn't a great idea to keep that going. I searched around for a decent priced long range N router and this popped up. I bought this late 2011 so it's been running great for a year with no issues at all. It's a basic setup in the house and I was able to walk my sister though the setup. I'd by another one of these if I ever move away from my AppleExtreme.

We ordered one a few weeks ago, thinking it would be a good choice for a new wireless router (ours was not an "n" and we were getting dropped regularly as we used our iDevices). We had a very difficult time getting connected. Our desktops were a breeze, since they are linked by cable; our iPad worked well mostly; our iPod Touch would not stay connected; our laptop was fairly quick to connect; our Wii was a long process to get it to connect wirelessly. We contacted tech support (via email -- no chat option), tried a few of their recommendations... and then they finally recommended we return it to Amazon and get another. Well, we got a replacement quickly from Amazon... but it's just as bad. Went to Radio Shack today to get a different brand (Netgear) and we're up and running with no extra programming, no trial & error, no dropped connections. Will be sending the 2nd one back to Amazon for a refund/credit.

This product works right out of the box, but unfortunately it will disconnect the internet at random within a day or two. This is the 3rd day I had this product, and I had to rest its power twice.. I do not recommended.I check the support forum, other people are having the same issues too.

This is an ok product. I bought it specifically to put DDWRT. While it works great when it works. It has disconnection problems at times. A reboot fixes it, it's a little annoying, but not frequent enough to make it worth replacing. The speeds and range are great. If it wasn't buggy it would be easily 5 stars.

I read many reviews about the product before buying this router. Many people had issue with USB storage sharing. When the router is used to stream HD videos, it streams very nicely, but in few hours the internet stopped working and had to reboot the router to make the internet work again. To solve this problem I touched the router and I noticed that it is very hot. Then I said no wonder it's hot as the router was streaming HD videos and other people in home were using internet too much. Then I hang the router on wall and kept some space (about 1.5-2.0 cm) between the router and wall. This helped a lot to keep the router cool while streaming HD videos with high usage of internet. I have placed this router near window so that it gets better air circulation. So that's it, this router is now performing very nice and it does not require reboot anymore. You may use any other method to keep the router cool because that's the bottom line.Highly recommended router at this price with awesome features !Must have this router for HOME !

This unit knows how to satisfy the purchaser, a perfect wireless router for a low cost.Tons and tons of user configuration options and the range is top notch.Only issue here is that it does freeze up like once a week of full use and requires a hard reboot.
