We bought this router to replace a 11 year old but functional linksys router. Setup was easy. All four of our household laptops and our one wireless printer connected. After two days the router started to lock out users. We reset the router for a few days and then called tech support. Rinse and repeat for about three weeks with multiple TP Link staff. They do not keep notes on your calls so I became adept at keeping my own notes.I am note sure on the actual technical reason for the lock outs, but we appear to be ok at this point.I never had any issues with the Linksys router.

I bought this router to replace an older, slower one and have been very pleased with the product. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is the fact that it does hang up on occasion and has to be restarted. The previous unit I had would do this several times a day, while I've had this one for about a month now and have only had it hang up a couple of times. So all in all, it's a VERY minimal problem.As far as coverage, it is excellent. I have a 2-story condo and get a full, strong signal in every corner of the house.I would recommend, and already have recommended, this product to a friend any day of the week.

Replaced a Netgear cable modem/wireless router supplied by TWC. The TP-Link router has more software features and better signal strength than the Netgear. Mounted it in the basement with all of the other cable, telephone, and alarm equipment. It has decent whole house coverage. I wanted to get coverage to my patio so I installed a TP_Link ranger extender upstairs and now have coverage inside and out. Typically there are 3 Iphones, an Ipad, an Ipod, an android phone, and a laptop connected to my network. Never have had a conflict. Together with a Cisco cable modem, I saved $10/mo. on my cable bill. Total investment for both $89.94.

It worked great for the first two months, then the signal is bad, internet connection on and off, you can restart the router, it will behave for about 20 minutes, and then goes to the same situation, signal weak and on and off frequently.I bought in Mid May from B&H since at that time, it is cheaper. The router began to misbehave in Mid Jul.I think I saw this behavior in some review here, was hesitating buying, finally decided to risk -- it does bite me.Guess need to buy reliable routers next timeHorrible experience with this companyAfter they saw me post this review here, they offer me to RMA back the faulty unit and stating that they want to trouble shot in their lab.Everybody knows what does RMA mean I guess here, but this company does NOT1. I provide them address and waiting for them to give me RMA label, after 7 days, no communication, response from them2. I email them again, asking what is the status of RMA, they reply back asking me that they need my credit card information, which is normal in case I do not ship back their faulty unit back3. However, I was so surprised that they need my credit card information to pay for the shipping fee -- then what is RMA for? -- That is bull shit.You had a fault product, causing customer trouble, you shall clean your own problem, now it is customer's responsibility, if you can NOT standby your product. Customer can only avoid this product

I bought this router because it is pretty full-featured at such a great price. I wanted something to bridge the wireless connection from my cable modem and this did the trick. I did flash the firmware to DD-WRT, which is an open source firmware with more advanced settings. I would only recommend this if you are really confident in your troubleshooting skills, as the firmware is not easy to follow.Uptime has been great, but I honestly saw very little difference in moving the antennas around. I thought having 3 would allow me to position them in some magical way for better coverage, but per my wifi meter on my android phone it didn't make a noticeable difference. I will say, however, that the range is great. I'm able to leave my house, walk about 200 ft into my cul-de-sac and have no issues. My wife even was able to facetime outdoors.

This Tp link router is poorly designed marginal stability . The major problem is with over heating because there are no ventilation holes on the top of the router like my old reliable Linksys WRT54GS that need to be replace due to wps security hack issue . Also I was looking for great wifi speed and range of a N router. Yes the Toilet Paper tl -wr 1043 nd gave me faster speeds and range but at the expense of stability . I was averaging at least one reset of the router and dsl every two days and some days I have to reset the bloody thing 3 to 4 times a day. The glossy white finish and the lack of air holes on the top and bottom of the router (like my old linksys had and TP's replacement the wonderful stable asus rt-n16 ) cause constant heat crashes. Second the set up is a pain in the Arse Ive never had a router where it need the Pppoe setting to connect to the internet because my speedstream dsl modem handles that (neither the linksys or Asus needed it) and the stock firmware is poop at best and needs to be upgrade immediately and guess what ? You got to due the needless pain in the neck setup all over again. This is cheap for a reason if the sold it for more cash retailers would stop carry it because of the insane returns . Honest pass on this router it just a headache .

First quick background of who I am. I've worked professionally with computers since I was 18 (16 years now), I've been pulling computers apart and putting them back together since I was 15 and I always build my own machines from the ground up. I believe I'm a fairly advanced user. I am returning this router but let me break down the positives and the negatives (that lead me to return it).Positives: - Speed is great and it keeps its wireless and wired connections at all times. - Setup is quick and easy.Negatives: - Interferes with my wireless keyboard - Interferes with my Playstation 3 (when it's plugged in I am no longer able to use my playstation controllers wirelessly) - Gaming online through my PS3 just won't work even after I set up the port forwarding correctly (which I shouldn't need to do in the first place and haven't in many previous routers). - Struggle installing any wireless devices such as printers - A couple of times I've had to reset the router because it won't allow me access to its web interface. I can ping the router just fine, but it won't let me access it. I turned off software firewalls to make sure that wasn't the problem.I am giving it two stars instead of one just in case there's user error involved but I feel very confident with my experience that this isn't the case. Overall I am very disappointed and annoyed that I have to send it back and get another brand of router. I'll probably go with Netgear as they've worked fine for me in the past. I have a small home office and issues like this takes away time from work so it's been a frustrating experience.

This router sets up nice and easy without any CDROMS like any router if you know what you're doing. But this Wireless N speed exaggerations need to stop. I have tried many "N" routers and WiFi adaptors now, and I've come to the conclusion that they are all dangerously close to false advertising territory. Sure, you can get close to a "up to" speed for a few minutes if the planets are aligned just right, but ultimately the tiniest interference will drop you back down to the 65-130mps range even using a "300" speed adapter. That (300) is a complete joke and I've never attained it once.Car makers get pinged for stating wild MPG ratings, and someone should rein in these nutty electronics claims. Radios with 3 mile ranges good for 1/4 mile....300mps wireless good for 100mps....Battery backups with 2 hour runtimes good for 12 minutes....END the madness.

About once a week, WiFi router causes some clients to go into an endless loop of re-entering password. Other devices continue to work OK and still others get ignored entirely. After a restart or power reboot, the TL-WR1043ND works for a few days or a week before doing it again. I switched two nearby PC's over the wired on its backplane, at one time it was servicing one and ignoring the other. Again, a reboot fixed it... for a time.E-mail support is sort of responsive, but I get stuck at the top of the debugging checklist at every cycle, and then on Nov 11th everyone went on vacation and I've written twice since then with no response. The only purpose of tech support I can see seems to be to get consumers past the point where they can return the product to the retailer... which is where I'm at now.I'll update this review if I ever get some real support and/or a resolution.

I bought this router so that I could use it with the free software Gargoyle firmware [...].I can't comment on the software that was installed with the router, because I use Gargoyle. Gargoyle allows me to calculate my internet usage, so I don't exceed the bandwidth cap of my internet provider. The firmware has lots of other features, but for me, this was the thing I had been searching for. I can allocate a certain amount of bandwidth to each family member and have this quota reset daily, monthly, etc. I don't worry about my teen running my internet bill up during the night or getting my contract cancelled.Now, as for the hardware itself- I'm pleased. I've had this up and running for several months without issue. I have excellent coverage (greater than my 1600 sq ft home).

Replaced a linksys n-150 model... the kind with no antenna... had to restart that thing constantly because it randomly deicded to block images... So far I haven't had to restart this router even once. I plugged up an external hard drive to it and it's nice to be able to access that from any device in my network. Nice integrated OS, easy to navigate and set up... installation took less than 10 minutes... Range is alright, altogether, for the price, you can't beat this router.

I have replaced my Linksys Cisco WRT54GS with this router 2 weeks ago and all is well except for my 1st generation Wii that won't accept a WAP-PK pw wifi oh well . The one Major thing in setting the router up is Setting it's internal Clock to the right time and I did that and the router has not gone offline or reset at all . I get great coverage in my Apt with the router so 4 stars causes it won't play nice with my Wii .

Would not install, I contacted TP link support (worthless) only to have them say they are not sure it may be defective. The representative did not speak good English and did not seem to understand what she was doing. I believe she was just reading a list of BS and had received little or no training. I will not deal with this company ever, after wasting an hour and a half on the combined hold time and the tech support putting me through the ropes. If you buy it; good luck

Fast, Easy Setup, Clean WiFi, and Fast Ethernet. I have haven't had one problem with this router. I replaced a netgear router with this and I have started buying other TP-Link WiFi and Ethernet devices. It is very fast and I use it with a TP-LINK dsl modem, and Tp-Link un-managed 5 port switch and the TL WA901ND Access Point in Repeater Mode. This is a great item everything is fast on it, I like dual band but it very limited uses. I also suggest using the larger 8 DBi Tp Link antenna's on here and any access points it helps Allot.This router also Has WDS bridging in it and has the ability to use bandwidth control, Very Good over all, and I know about 8011.2 ac and I Prefer this to the 5ghz and and the AC. the reason why is 5ghz is very limited to what devices have it on them and AC will take a while to get out on other device then routers and WiFi adapters.

my network friend was able to trace the lock out problem that some users and i are experiencing. he said that when he released the isp ip address and then renewed it the router came back.he told me to include this in my review that if the mfgr. cares the can look at this and maybe isolate the problems that many users are experiencing.my issues.of course i need to reboot it at least once a day or log into it and release/renew my ip address. when i hook up my netgear router which this one replaced (wanted better range at fair price) do not have to reboot at all. so its not the isp but something in the router thats related to the isp, but the issue lies with in the router my friend says.ftp:can copy files from it but not to it from ftp client.usb: is attached but no documentation aside from on screen. usb dosnt work, once its setup shouldn't it look like a network attached drive to OSX.LOTS OF USB ATTACHED ISSUES.IF YOU WANT THIS ROUTER STRICTLY FOR INTERNET SURFING, ITS FINE EXEPT FOR THE DAILY REBOOT. DONT GET IT IF YOU WANT ACCESS TO NAS. DOSNT WORK.IM NOT GOING TO TRY AND GET SUPPORT. IM DISABLED. IF THEY WANT TO FIX THEIR OSX ISSUES AND EMAIL ME BACK WHEN THEY ARE FIXED, NO PROBLEM. THIS REVIEW WILL STAND UNTIL SUCH TIME. IM NOT THEIR OSX BETA TESTER.

I bought this router after looking long and hard for a replacement for my dead Netgear router. I have nothing to knock the old Netgear, it just died (halfway expected) under the strain. This one may last as long as the Netgear, time will tell.The usage on this router is the following: - Hooked up to a gigabit modem pushing 50Mpbs+ - Is the backbone for the entire house network, both with wireless devices (all 13 of them) and 4 wired devices. - Average workday is 13 hours (of nonstop streaming or live content)Pros: - Signal strength is slightly better than the prior router (due to the antennas) - Full Gigabit speed (with the appropriate CAT 6a wire) - Strong Security Options (try using a 45 character password on other devices)Cons: - Restarted once on its own....all the devices get annoyed when there is no internet :) - A bit flimsy (slightly thinner plastic case) than older routersWill update this review since I have only owned it for two months.

I did a bit of research before purchasing this router. My Linksys began having problems with wireless, and would reboot when trying to browse large file folders between networked PCs. I was looking for something with more RAM than the Linksys, but unfortunately manufacturers don't make memory specs easy to find. According to some reputable sites, this router has 32MB, 4 times more than my Linksys. This is also a top-of-the-line model at a great price and also had some good reviews. It may be important to know that this is not a dual band router. It operates only on the 2.4GHz band and not on 5GHz. I was going to go with a Netgear router since I wasn't very familiar with TP-Link, but I thought this router was too good to pass up. So far it hasn't failed to impress me. I performed set up through the GUI, so I didn't use the included disc. The GUI is straight-forward and I was able to get up and running quickly. Wireless is consistent and reliable with great signal strength, and tranferring and browsing files between PCs has worked flawlessly. I usually have between 5 and 10 devices connected both wired and wirelessly at one time, and the router hasn't skipped a beat where my old router would have trouble when video streaming, gaming and web browsing simultaneously. Update August 25, 2012: I've had this device for about 5 months now and it has been working with zero problems. Absolutely no reboots necessary and I've only had to update the firmware for a minor DST issue which didn't affect the operation of the router.

I bought this router to upgrade my home networks to support the new coming Synology NAS and ROKU stream player. The NAS, Cable Modem, printer and my main PC sit in my study room. A GigaBit Ethernet Network is highly recmmonded to connect those devices. While, the ROKU player has to stay with my TV in the living room. The living room and the study room is aparted by a guest bath room, which may attenuate the WiFi signal significant. This gives me a lot difficulties in find a solution. After at least one week's research online, I selected this TP-Link router mainly for its performance, which supports both Gigabit Ethernet and powerful 802.11n WiFi.The box came pretty quick after I placed the order. The router looks much better than my expection. The white is bright with the logo shining in the center. The setup procedure is quick and easy. I have read the reviews by previouse buyer. I bypassed the CD setup, using Webpage setup to update the firmware. I set the wireless to 11n only mode to achieve the ultimate connection speed for the steaming. There external anntena provided very helpful space deversity for the MIMO, which guranted the good coverage with sufficient bandwidth. The signal strenth at my ROKU player in the living room are always ranked good to ecellent. My previous Netgear N300 router can never achieve that. Both the NAS and stream player work very well now.However I have several 11bg only devices in my home, which cannot be covered by 11n only WiFi signal. I made the Netgear N300 the complimentary router. I set it in 11bgn mixed mode with the same SSID and secure setting as my TP-Link router. I specified the TP-Link WiFi to work in Channel 1 and the Netgear WiFi to work in Channel 8. By the way, I established a unified single WiFi networks, taking advantages of 11n's bandwidth and 11bg's compatability.The network sharing feature works. However, it is not a bonus to me, for I have the NAS installed.

This works as advertised. It took no extra effort to set-up. The QSS button makes connections easy - if the other device has one (I have found that most do not have such a button). The signal is strong and stable. I've had 5 devices connected at once, w/ a cable modem on the other end, and no issues doing simple internet work and streaming in a two level house. However, the most effective range is about 40 feet. It will work well, but more inconsistently, at further ranges. I would buy another one of these.

Bought this router 6 months ago and it works fine. Biggest problem I have is that router has to be rebooted twice a week for wireless to work. Restored and updated firmware, but problem still exists. It is becoming a real pain and I do not see any new firmware either. Hope tplink can fix this issue.

Got this router to use as a gigabit switch. Works flawlessly. The range isn't as far as the Netgear N900 I just got, but thats a $130 router vs this $25 (after rebate). I installed it in the house panel to do switch duties but left the wifi on, it should perform much better when not cooped up in a panel with ton of wires to cause interference. Great product overall, would buy again!

This is my first wireless router and I have to say that it is everything that I expected. It was easy to set up and it doesn't take up alot of space or look out of place. We run multiple laptops and phones off of it at the same time. Signal strength is good in all rooms of the house and I can even get signal while outside in the yard. I would recommend this router to anybody that is looking for an inexpensive and easy to use system.

i purchased one of this product 6 month ago! It's grate!!! After firmware update I can use the cloud throug my smartphone and ps3! I connecte 2TB external hard drive, and now it's media server with 2 TB for 60$ The range is very big, I can go out , and my phone or pc still connected! About 150 meters. So i decided buy another one one week ago, for my frend. So it's still grate and shipped in 3 days!!! Loving it! The best modem, and best price!
