Oh, I so want to love this little earpiece.Pros:Slide mic down to talk - wow, a GREAT feature that eliminates fussing with tiny buttons you can't feelStereo on demand - you can use with or without stereo - I use it in stereo mode all the time (even on phone calls) because my hearing sucksMicroUSB charge port - Standard charging system so I can use existing cablesDecent price (apparently you can get it for less than the $60 I paid)Earpiece cord is a cloth mesh - much better than typical plastic wire covering - doesn't stick to your neckMulti-pairing - (This is impressive!)Right now I have it paired to both my Droid Bionic and my Blackerry Curve. When turned on, it will connect with the last device it was connected to, according to profile. For example - yesterday I paired with my Bionic and Blackberry for phone and media profiles. When I turned it on this morning it re-connected phone to the Blackberry, and Media to the Bionic (which is how it was connected when I turned it off yesterday). Very nice. Also, it can manage simultaneous connections to different devices by profile. For example - It was paired to both Bionic and Blackberry for both media and phone profile. I turned off Bluetooth on Blackberry, and started listening to a podcast on my Bionic. Re-enabled Bluetooth on Blackberry and connected it to headset for the phone profile. When I take calls on the Blackberry they come through the headset while media playing on my Bionic pauses. When I hang up the call on the Blackberry, media on the Bionic resumes. Slick! (And frankly how it *should* work!)ConsSound quality - OMG this thing has terrible sound quality. Tinny as hell - even when I use an equalizer on my phone it's still very tinny. I've had other BT headsets (first stereo unit almost exactly like this one circa 2004) that sounded better. Sad, coming from Plantronics - their headsets usually rock. Even for phone calls the sound quality is too flat and tinny. It's bad enough that I've returned to using speakerphone instead. Some other notes:My previous comment on connectivity rated it good. I must retract that - this thing drops out horribly all the time with my Droid Bionic. Mind, I use 3 other Bluetooth devices - two Bluetooth media receivers (in 2 cars) and a *very* old LG Bluetooth earpiece (at least 5 years old). All maintain the connection far, far better than this thing. It drops ALL.THE.TIME while sitting still, phone on desk to my left - just about 18" from the headset on my head. And don't even think of putting your phone in your pocket! With my other BT devices I can walk most of the 15' range of Bluetooth from them before they drop.Changing my review to Do Not Buy. Sad, Plantronics usually produces really great headphones. If I still had the packaging I'd return it and buy the Jaybirds. They have similar reviews, but I've used a pair and they sounded FAR better than these.

*update* 06/28/10The little metal piece on the strip that holds the case to the clip has always worried me. It felt more fragile than the rest of it. The other day, it snapped. now, I have a clip, and a case, and no way to attach the two of them. Other than that, I still love this headset!I ordered this headset about a week ago. It arrived today, right on schedule. It is beautiful, and the price (that I got it for) is fantastic! I feel that the full retail price is a bit high. The first thing I noticed is the solid feeling of this headset. For something so delicate looking, it feels very sound and well built in my hand. It dosn't feel like it is just going to fall apart. That pleased me. I am so tired of new products going for what I feel is a rediculous amount of money for non exhistant quality. The case follows suit with a feeling of quality. The leather is supple, the stitching is elegant, and the cradle has a lovely (unexpected attention to detail) gloss finish, and even the button to release the headset feels like it won't break tomorrow. The unit is a little deeper than I thought (there are not a lot of side view pictures with something to scale it against), but it is still very nice. It is sleek, smooth, and easy to use. The depth of the unit makes it easy to push the multi function button without pushing the unit further into my ear. The placement of both the volume button and the multi function buttons are also very useable. The sound quality is great, and it is very user friendly. Many people have stated that the single volume button is annoying, but I have found that it is easy to use, and actually, not very necissary. I can control the volume of my headset through my phone, but have rarely found it necissary to adjust the volume at all. I use this headset mainly in the car at highway speeds, and I can hear my caller loud and clear, and no complaints from them on sound quality or background noise.I have also owned a plantronics voyager pro that also had great sound quality, however I found that the voyager pro was way too big for me. Uppon reading the reviews for that unit, I found that I was not the only female having issues with the headset not fitting due to it's large size. I was also unhappy with the flexibility of that bluetooth. It gave so easily to pressure that it was impossible to get it to put enough leverage on the side of my head to make it stay put. I had to constantly press the thing to my ear to hear my caller. For the Discovery 975, I am using the smallest ear gel piece that comes with the unit, and that is where I find a small issue. The hard plastic piece that the ear gel fits over is still a little big for my ear. I did find that my ear was a little tender after extended use, but had the same issue with my first in-ear headset. It became a non issue after my ear got used to it. I am hoping for the same result with this one. I have found that adjusting the ear gel so that the loop is further back helps with a more comfortable fit. The ear gel is very easy to adjust once you get it on the ear piece (which is a bit of a struggle) I have also found that when the loop is positioned well, the headset is very secure in my ear.I have also noticed that there are small teeth on the ear gel that line up with the small openings in the ear piece. It makes the position of the ear gel very stable. Getting the gel on is a little tough, and because the gel "zips" to the headset, you have to make sure the pegs line up with the holes. I have noticed other reviews stating that there was static noise, but that may have been because the pegs/teeth in the ear gel didnt line up propperly with the ear piece and may have created some vibration. The carrying case is another feature I absolutely LOVE. I do not like constantly wearing a bluetooth, and like to have somewhere to put it when not in use. The carrying case is the perfect solution. I can keep my bluetooth in great shape, and charge it at the same time!I did not bother charging the set until it died. Before it dies, it gives you two verbal warnings. First, battery low. Second, charge battery. I got right at five hours of use out of it! After it gave me the charge battery prompt, I put it in the charging case (did not bring the cord with me), left it plugged in for fifteen minutes, and used it again. I did not even get the battery down to warning levels after an additional hour of use. as I drove home, I plugged it in again. By the time I got home (twenty five minutes later), the case said that the headset had a full charge, and that the case had half of a charge left. The case can give two full charges to the headset before needing to be recharged it's self, AND you can charge the case by it's self, the headset by it's self, or with the charging case, OR you can charge both at the same time. If I loose the case or forget to bring it inside with me, I can STILL use my headset. SO useful!Really, the only reason I omitted the last star is the fact that t

This is my first Bluetooth headset, so I don't have a basis for comparison. The gel ear loop is pretty comfortable, and this headset seems very lightweight. I've worn it for hours at a time with no discomfort. My problem has to do with unreliable performance. I use this headset to stream podcasts and music while I'm working, and the audio cuts out quite often. I found that tilting my head a little to the right so that my jaw wasn't between the headset and the phone in my pocket significantly improved the audio playback, which seems rather silly for a Bluetooth device that's perhaps 3 feet from the signal source. This happened in my office and out walking around, so my #1 purpose for the headset is shot. For that alone, I'd return this.To make matters worse, the headset has made my phone redial the most recent contact. If it happened once, I'd assume it was my mistake. It's easy to hit the Call button. I was suspicious the second and third times. The fourth time, however, was the last straw. I took the headset off and slid the power button to the Off setting, and then I watched my iPhone (sitting on my desk) light up as it dialed my mother's number. 4 times in two days. That's ridiculous.Maybe this one is defective. Maybe it just doesn't play well with the iPhone 4. Others seem to have good reviews. I'll definitely be returning it and going with a higher-quality headset. I got it for $29.99 on sale, but the aggravation isn't worth any amount of price break.

I had a Plantronics Explorer 245. It worked fine, but battery life wasn't great. Unfortunately, it was in a shirt pocket and went through the laundry. The "bag of rice" trick didn't work, and the thing is shot. So I went out and got the M25 as a replacement.I like the way the M25 fits, and it's small, and it seems to have great battery life. What I hate about it:- it doesn't auto-connect to my (older Motorola) phone so I have to manually select it on the phone every time- it has a very short range of about 10' in open space; can't punch through a plaster wall; and I used to be able to use the Explorer 245 up to 50' away, even through walls and floors;- Sound quality is very poor; static-filled and "flangeing" sounds like everybody is either standing under a waterfall or using Auto-Tune.I think the M25 is trying to do to much, like processing out background noise etc. I don't want it to do that. I'm using my ancient corded VoiceStar headset, where I can actually hear the other party instead of added static and processing noise. But my phone only has a single USB port for everything, so I can't use the corded headset while the phone is charging, which really defeats my purpose.I'm going to go looking for a less "can-do" headset that doesn't try to do to much and just lets me talk on the phone.

I just bought this headset to use it with Skype on my android based mobile phone and tablet. However, it does not work on either of these devices - when the headset is connected the Skype connection either does not work at all or there is no sound. I called Plantronics tech support and was informed that this headset is compatible only with Skype on Iphone and Ipad. This information is NOT included in product description which says "simple setup with Bluetooth phones" without mentioning any compatibility problems with Android devices, whose market share in the US is 54%. This looks like misleading product information, hence one star. However, Plantronics customer support seems to be better than the industry average, very responsive, even though all they did was to inform me that the product in question is a piece of crap.An afterthought- I tried to use Bluetooth on many devices, smart phone, "dumb" phone, tablet, laptop, and PC and the only time I was successful is when I connected a keyboard to a tablet. All other connections involving data transfers, tethering, or even connecting an earpiece either worked erratically or did not work at all. Needless to say that "pairing" BT devices is far more cumbersome than simply plugging in a connecting cable. It looks that Bluetooth is a modern example of a Rube Goldberg machine.

I'm one of those people who does a lot of research before buying something like this. In the past, I had Plantronics Voyager 510 and loved the sound quality. However, being a female with small ears who also wears glasses, the bulky piece of the 510 that went up over and wrapped around behind the ear cartilidge never wanted to stay behind my ear, and so would often come loose and fall out.I then tried the voyager 520 since it had a smaller ear loop. I thought that one had worse sound quality, and actually fell out of my ear easier than the 510. So, I went back to using the 510.Then, I lost the 510, and hence, my reason for researching new headsets. After all of this, I had figured out that, along with sound quality, stable fit was a hugely important quality for me. I actually went to a few local cell phone stores to try different headsets on and narrowed it down to the Plantronics Discovery 975 or the Motorola one that is supposed to work kind of like the jawbone. It had a piece that went pretty far into year ear that sensed the sound of your voice through your own bones.I ended up going with the Discovery 975 for several reasons. 1)the 975 has voice dial and last number redial capabilities (which I had gotten used to on my old Plantronics sets and liked a lot). I understand this feature doesn't work with every type of phone, but on my old motorola flip phones, and on my current Blackberry Tour, it does work. 2) I could get the 975 from Amazon directly (and more cheaply than at local stores), who I trust more than 3rd party sellers online. 3) I liked the idea of having a case for the headset to keep it safe in my purse. That it was a charging case was even better. 4) the reviews for sound quality for the 975 seemed better for my purposes. The jawbone feature of the motorola had to be manually engaged if you were in a noisy situation, and then the reviews said you still had to talk loud and enunciate much to be heard and understood. The 975's noise reduction features are always engaged. 5) I had had Plantronics bluetooths in the past, and was overall pretty happy with them (at least I was with the Voyager 510).SOUND QUALITYAfter using the 975 for about a month now, I have been very happy with the sound quality - both what I hear at my end and what others tell me I sound like. In my car, in noisy grocery stores, and outside in at least moderate wind, the sound has always been quite good, or so my husband tells me. I can hear others very well also.FITI am EXTREMELY happy with the fit. I could go to a concert and head bang, and I don't think it would come out. In fact, one day I did a pretty forceful head shake demo for one of my co-workers, and she was super impressed. Before I even received the 975, I also ordered some ear loops for it on ebay (the one shown in one of the reader-submitted pictures). I don't need it. In fact, I'd say (unless it stretches with use) the 975 is far more comfortable without it, and just as stable in my ear. Some other reviews claim the 975 itself is uncomfortable with the silicone stabilizer loop that goes in your ear fold. Maybe a little uncomfortable after several hours of having it in your ear, but you could always try a smaller silicone piece. Three sizes are included. Plus, it is so easy to take on and off, I sometimes just set it on my desk, and if I hear my phone ring, I just slip it in quick and start talking. Most of all, I'm thrilled that it says in without anything (especially anything heavy or bulky) going over the back of my ear. Now it doesn't matter if I'm wearing my glasses (or my bulkier sunglasses). I can still wear my bluetooth without having to worry that it will fall out.VOLUME BUTTONSome have complained about the small volume button and only having three volume levels to toggle through rather than an up and down volume rocker. I don't think it's that small or hard to use, especially if you have a little bit of fingernail on any of your fingers. However, I think these people are forgetting that you can adjust the volume to very specific levels using the volume controls on your phone itself. At least I can using the up and down buttons on the side of my blackberry (and the same was true with my older plantronics sets and my old motorola flip phones.)CALL BUTTONThis is the main button that does most everything. Turns it on, turns it off, answers calls, ends calls, initiates voice dial, initiates last number redial. I don't have a problem with it. But then, I'm used to how Plantronics sets up its controls. If you are new to plantronics, you might have to play with it a little to get the hang of it, but I think it's pretty easy.CASEI very much like the charging case, and the charging status indicator is nice, too. You can even charge the 975 in the case while the headset is connected to your phone, and if your phone rings, just pop it out of your case, put it in your ear, and you're good to go. Now I don't have to worry about t

I must admit I was a bit dubious at first. This earpiece, attractive as it is, is about the size of my little finger and weighs a whole heck of a lot less. Plus, it had to be complicated. Maybe not for the ordinary person, but I'd only been a member of the cellphone generation for a few months. And then there is the crazy person factor to consider. You know what I mean, you see them in the bar and the stores and the parks and the parking lots, in big buildings and small, you see them everywhere, these people who seem to be talking to themselves, sometimes even shouting to themselves. Did I really want anybody to think I was one of them.Maybe, we've been in the new Millennium for twelve years now, so what the heck, I got a cell phone, why not step all the way into the future. But could I do it? Could I figure out how to set this baby up, or was I going to have to go to the AT&T store and have the nice people there do it for me?First things first, after I opened the box after I got it, I found the earpiece enclosed in an attractive plastic, bubble enclosure, however, unlike so many of the things you buy these days, from Star Wars figures to lipstick, all I had to do to get the gizmo out of the wrap was to pull off a small piece of clear tape and everything unpacked nicely, no steak knifes, scissors and razor blades needed.Out of the box, I read the first couple of pages of the manual, pushed the center button on the earpiece, set my Razor cell phone to settings, clicked on the Bluetooth simple, clicked on hands free, entered the super secret four number code of 0000 that manuel said to enter and son of gun, that's all there was to it. No call to tech support, no going to the AT&T store, no hair pulling, lip biting or swearing. So how does it work? Like a treat. I drive hands free, talk to my friends when I'm on my long walks, talk to my editor when I'm shopping and you know what, one thing I've learned is you don't have to shout. Normal talking works fine when you're outside and inside you can even whisper and the other party hears just fine. And I hear fine too.I've only had this goody for a couple weeks now, but I don't know how I ever lived without it. When I first got my cell phone it wasn't a big deal, I hardly used it, thought of it as something I'd only use in an emergency, but I'm talking up a storm now and enjoying every minute of it.

Over the years, I've tried dozens of BT Headsets by different manufacturers - aliph, BlueAnt, Motorola, Jabra...you name it, I've tried them out. Used to being jaded & feeling like each one had good things, but not "the whole package."Trying out the earlier model, the Discovery 925, changed my perspective. I loved it! Comfortable, good sound quality (and the case/charger worked well too). When the 975 came out with better wind noise protection & a li-ion battery in the case/charger, as well as a sleeker design, I had to try it. Being a heavy phone user (3000+ minutes/month) and in/out of the office, crawling around foreclosures & walking land lots in desert heat in the summer means that my headset is used, abused and tortured.By far, the Plantronics Discovery 975 is the best overall. Value, comfort, convenience, sound quality, etc. The comfort is incredible (it took a little getting used to having an in-ear design & trusting it to stay put, but that was pretty quick). Throw in sleek & stylish too. There may be some that have better noise suppression, there may be some that have a longer initial battery life...but not the overall package...and not for under $75.I do wish that the volume control was a bit easier - and better interface with more advanced BT capabilities, but that's something that Plantronics can roll out with the next generation in this series. This model goes from the boardroom to the dirt roads & vacant lots without a problem - and my ear doesn't get sore or sweaty & gunky.Call quality is good - and the little voice that gently warns "Lost Connection" has kept me from leaving my phone behind several times. Since finding this little gem, I NEVER (almost) use my phone without it. Why occupy one of my hands just hold a hot slab of phone to my head when I could use it for something better...like writing notes while talking to a client & grabbing my coffee with the other?

Well when I got the M25 I plugged it in to charge for 5 min or so just to test it out. I specifically got it to listen to music/books and to be light weight and comfortable. Pairing was super easy, no problem there. However when I listen to music on my LG motion the signal/connection sucks! It breaks up continuously and stops working after about 30 seconds. I decided maybe it wasn't fully charged even though it said it had 11hrs of life so i plugged it back and and waited a few hours. Once again super easy to link up but music over M25 was terrible (however the calling seemed to work)! I had my old iPhone 3g laying around and so for s***s and giggles i wanted to see if the connection was better for that one. Works amazingly for the iPhone! Now I'm just confused, so I have another set of bluetooth head-phones (the Motorola S10-HD) so i decided to pair them with LG-motion and they work flawlessly. So I have no idea with the problem is between the M25 and my LG motion. I will be returning the M25, if they worked as well with the LG motion as they do with the iphone i would be super happy. So yes they do work, but not with my phone, so my suggestion is to keep your receipt!

I have both the jawbone ERA and the M25. Bottom line:Jawbone ERA: Pros: bells and whistles, extras, great mic, Cons: pricy, flat sound quality, heavy,Plantronics: M25: Pros: great speaker sound quality, very light in the ear. great mic. Cons: no USB charging solution included.Between the two I would buy the M25 hands down. I can buy 3 m25 for the same price as 1 jawbone. Jawbone ERA Bluetooth Headset - Shadowbox - Retail PackagingI called a friend and asked how the I sound when using the m25 and he said he could not tell I was on a headset. When I switched betweent the phone and m25 he said the headset sounded crisp and clear.Rated at 11 hrs of talk time vs 5 for the jawbone. I have yet test to test actual times. It's half the size and much lighter which is important. You don't feel the weight so it's easy to wear long term as it stays in the ear.YTest the m25 with music it was clear the m25 sounds so much better then the jawbone. Richer bass, brighter highs, nothing harsh or flat, for a headrest. The jawbone obviously did not sound as good switching between the two of them.I have had no problem with connection. The range is good so far an have no problem walking around the office or putting the phone in my pocket. There's no indication of compression and connection noise. This is my 4th different headset over the years and by far this is the M25 out performs the others.I'll have to report back when I have tested the following: Mic camparison between the two Noisy situation Talk time, charge time, standby by time RangeOverall I have been very happy with the performance of the m25

I have had a Plantronics M50 headset for about 10 months and was going to order one for my wife, but bought this instead. I was reluctant to order the M25 because of the mixed reviews and was not sure of the new gel loop earpiece. It is a very good headset and comfortable. I have not worn it all day yet, but the loop wedges in the ear and does not bother me so far. This is a little shorter than the M50 and about 70% as thick. Without the wraparound earpiece, it feels much smaller. The M25 has an eleven hour talk time and when you turn it on, it tells you how many hours are available.I do not have the dropped connection issues with the M25 that others have reported. It has a tad shorter range than the M50, but this is not a problem. The advertised range is 33' and so far meets the claim.11/14/12 update- This headset is comfortable to wear all day.Volume- It is better than the M50. The M50 even at the lowest setting can hurt my ear to the point that I jammed a piece of cotton in the ear bud. This M25 has a reasonable level, but does not make you go deaf.Range- The M50 does win this one, but the M25 can easily go 25'.If I were to order a headset today, I would pick this over the M50. The M50 is very good, but this has better volume, is more comfortable and smaller to drop in your pocket(just turn off first to avoid pocket redial)

I purchased this bluetooth for my husband for a Christmas gift. I asked him his views on the product and he said that it's almost perfect, but can get uncomfortable after long periods of time wearing it. This isn't generally an issue for him, however, because he uses it solely for the car. He said the sound quality is great, he's used it on two different devices, and he could tell a marked difference in the quality while using it with the cheaper, lower quality phone, than with the more expensive and higher end phone. He suggests that the negative reviews about sound quality likely is caused by the quality of the Bluetooth on the phone itself, rather than this device. Beside the comfort issue (which may just be how his ears are shaped, since it's more comfortable in his left ear than his right), he would give this 5 stars. Because he's happy with it, I'm happy with it. You certainly can't beat the price of this Bluetooth headset. Highly recommended for those wanting a Bluetooth headset on a budget.

Got this yesterday and it doesn't always connect. Sometimes it does and sometimes it does not. I assume had a I paid a little more I might have gotten one that was not a POS but as this is....even though I got it yesterday, I will probably trash it. The frustration of trying to make it work is absolutely annoying. I paid for something that will just sit (or wind up in the trash dump). I got mine at Verizon Wireless and as they are little more than professional scam artists in that store, I am sure they will not be willing to help and Plantronics said "hey ship it back to us and we can ship you a new one"...so I have to pay for the shipping. Give this was not very expensive, i am going to have to invest more to have it work than I would have otherwise. I should have wary of Plantronics from my past experience with them but I was an idiot and just got it anyway. So if you have time to spare to try to make it work, money to spare when it doesn't and a super high level of tolerance for frustration (as well as patience)....give it a try. If not, stay as far away as you can. I can't understand how anyone gave this a good rating. They must work at the phone stores that cell these awful things.

There are so many things to like about the Plantronics Discovery 975 that ultimately I had to give it 4 stars. Unfortunately, what keeps me from giving it a perfect rating is the one thing you'd expect from a headset this expensive - the audio quality. I really tested this 975 in many conditions, over 3 weeks, and on two separate phones, and ultimately it fell short of my expectations for a perfect bluetooth headset. The out-of-the box experience is very good - I could easily pair it with my BlackBerry Curve, as well as my iPhone 3GS. On the iPhone, you don't even have to type the security code to pair. What's to like:1) extremely lightweight - you barely feel anything in your earIt took me some getting used to the fit of the ear adapter. It fits just inside your ear rim, but not in your ear itself. You barely feel it's there, and although it would seem this design wouldn't be stable, I could never make it fall out.Of course, not everyone's ears are the same, so Plantronics includes ear adapters of 3 different sizes. But I suspect not everyone will be comfortable with the fit.One thing that does take some getting used to if you've used other headsets - with the ear design, you must hold onto the headset with 2 fingers and then press the button.2) the protective charging case - simply brilliantThe storage case (which is a very nice quality leather) also has a battery that recharges the headset when it it stored in the case. A small LCD display shows the battery level of the case and the headset. And, if you need to recharge it takes less than 3 hours to charge both the case and the headset. In my experience using the headset, and using the storage case, I found that I could go a complete week (avg. 1-2 hrs/day use) without having to pull out the wall charger. That is outstanding performance, and a real bonus for this set.3) minimalist design - minimizes the dreaded "big bluetooth headset is not a fashion accessory" syndromeDefinitely one of the less obtrusive, more elegant designs.4) remembers two paired bluetooth profiles, so if you switch phones you don't have to repeat the pairing process.Unfortunately, although this feature is useful, it's not quite what I would have liked. Instead of looking for either device, the Plantronics 975 will only auto-connect with the last device you paired. To switch to a different paired device, you must manually disconnect on your phone, and then manually activate. I would have preferred a model similar to what my car Bluetooth system uses - it will search for either paired device, in order, and then automatically pair with the device it finds. I guess you could find arguments for either design approach. What's not to like:1) audio qualityThis is a hard one. Plantronics boasts of its dual-microphone design with "WindSmart" and "AudioIQ2" sound processing technologies.Indeed, the WindSmart is impressive. Unlike less expensive headsets, I could carry on a conversation outside on a fairly windy day, and the person on the other end of the line never hear the wind.As for "AudioIQ2", Plantronics needs to go back to the drawing board. The DSP algorithms cause an ever-so-slightly shrill sound that seems to cause problems with the ability to use voice-recognition commands on both my BlackBerry Curve and my iPhone 3GS (to use BlueTooth VoiceCommand on your iPhone 3GS, you must update to 3.1).Even worse, over 3 weeks of heavy use I had 3 separate occasions, 2 on the BlackBerry, one on my iPhone 3GS, where audio quality was completely unacceptable. In all cases, the phones were on my belt, so distance was not a factor. In 1 instance, there was so much static and background noise that I had to disconnect the headset and pickup my BlackBerry. On two other occasions, the people on the other end of the conversation said that they had a difficult time understanding me. In general, these were rare when you look at my usage. But I have to compare with my trusty, 2-year-old Motorola H500 which never had an audio problem. Ultimately, this is what makes me hesitate to recommend the Discovery 975.2) volume controlWhile Plantronics markets their headsets as "ingeniously simple" I would beg to differ. The two-button design is extraordinarily complex if you try to read the manual, and what combinations do what. For most operations, it IS indeed easy - just use the single activation button cleverly designed in the design. However, the volume control is a single button, which toggles between preset "low" "medium" and "high" settings. These are direct volume level commands, and on my BlackBerry Curve, the "high" volume is about 8/10 level. On my iPhone it's closer to 9/10 but still not max. It would have been so much simpler and better in daily use to have a small up/down volume rocker.2) no option for over-the-ear mountIf you find yourself using the headset button frequently, you'll wish that you had an over-the-ear option (like competing headsets from Jawbone) to stabilize the design. I also suspect that

Works prefect with my Galaxy SIII and with a Blackberry 9700 Bold.Pros:* Connects instantly to max 2 phones at a time.* Small size.* Standard micro-USB charging jack.* Can stream music or other audio from phone to headset.* Light weight.* Battery last long time.Cons:* Single volume button rather than up/down volume.* Noise cancellation not as effective as some other headsets.* Not comfortable for long hours.* One size ear bud gel.I have a Plantronics M50 too and the M25 its more comfortable. I know its not the best of the market but do the job well. Some people wrote bad reviews about the range of it from the cellphone but what they want...a WIFI range? I test it and it cover 10ft to 12ft, that's enough for me.

The Plantronics Discovery 975 is a solid performer, comfortable to use, and stylish with lots of small improvements over the Plantronics Discovery 925, but the buttons are still not the easiest to use.PROS:- Excellent call quality- Great battery life (5 hour talk time)- Charging case provides an additional 10 hours of talk time- Good noise canceling- Voice prompts- Great range- Stylish looks- Multiple ear tip cover sizes- Battery status indicator on case- Good warranty serviceCONS:- Multi-function button difficult to press- Very small, single volume button- No longer includes USB charging cable- Price premium- Some questionable build qualityI have personally used Bluetooth headsets for several years now with my most recent favorite being the Plantronics Discovery 925, which the 975 succeeds. While the Discovery 975 is much improved, some annoyances still remain.PAIRINGPairing the 975 to my Blackberry Curve and Motorola Droid was easy. After charging, I turned it on and set my phone to search for devices. After it was found, I typed in the pairing code and that was it.FITThe fit is one of the most important features of a headset for me. I have tried plenty that were either difficult to put on, were uncomfortable, or would not stay on. The unique gel ear tips on the 975, which come in 3 sizes, allow me to insert it in my ears in such a way that it is snug but not too uncomfortable, using what they call a "stabilizer loop." That being said, I have never had a headset so comfortable that I could leave it in all day. A couple of hours of continuous use would probably be my limit. The 975 weighs just 8 grams, which is the same as the 925.STYLEThe 925 and 975 are very similar in dimensions and size. The obvious difference in appearance between the two is the change from a triangular boom mic to the single skinny boom mic. I personally like this change to a more simple and understated design. It draws less attention to the wearer than the design of the 925. I don't think ANYONE should walk around town with their unused headsets in their ear, because quite frankly, it is the epitome of douchebaggery. I stole that word directly from a Wired article with Brad Pitt on the cover. Also quote, "He can barely pull it off, and you are not him." It is NOT jewelry folks. If you have been watching the TV show "24" Season 8, you might have noticed that it appears that CTU staff are wearing the 975 in their ears. Also, the front of the 975 is now a faux leather material rather than just plastic. I found different part numbers on the Plantronics website which led me to believe that they will have a silver version of the headset available in addition to the graphite version but I have yet to see it. I have included some photos of the 925 and 975 for comparison.CALL QUALITYThe call quality is amazing from both ends. The 975 features the dual-mic AudioIQ2 noise canceling technology to create amazing clarity and noise cancellation. I couldn't personally tell a big difference in call quality between the 925 and 975 but then, I usually turn my car radio off and roll up the windows when I make or take calls. Noise cancellation effectiveness may be more noticeable in noisy environments. Voice prompts are a welcome feature addition. Instead of trying to decipher a series of beeps, a voice will notify you of mute on/off, battery low/recharge battery, and lost connection.BATTERY & CHARGINGBoth the 925 and 975 are rated for 5 hours of talk time and about a week standby. Note, that if you turn on multipoint, you'll lose about 3 days of standby time. Amazingly, the 975 charges in just 90 minutes, whereas the 925 takes a full 3 hours using the AC adapter. The 925 came with a USB charging cable in addition to the AC charger, but Plantronics has omitted this highly welcome accessory from the 975. I love being able to charge the headset from my computer at work. The battery in the 925's charging case is Nickel-metal hydride, which always bugged me. Plantronics must have read my mind because the 975 and charging case batteries are now both Lithium ion. More changes to the charging case include an LCD status display for battery life as well as relocation of the charging port from the bottom of the case to the side. I always found it idiotic that the charging port was on the bottom, so again, kudos to Plantronics for correcting this. The case is actually bigger too and they changed the material a bit. I prefer the look and feel of the 925's case but not a big deal.BUTTONSThere are just 2 buttons on the Discovery 975. The main multifunction button and a tiny single volume button. In order to change the volume, you must cycle through all volume levels in order to find the desired setting. I would have preferred separate volume up/down buttons, but I have gotten used to it. The multifunction button controls everything else. The multifunction button however, is part of the boom mic and as such, is extremely difficult

I bought my first one when they had just hit the market. I needed something discrete to use for lectures and pod-casts while working and wanted the benefits of stereo listening while jogging. The 855 has been the best thing I could find. There's only two other designs I've found that are an "in the ear" design with a removable secondary ear-bud. One was the Mobifren and it was a nice idea but horrible execution and the other was a cheap foreign knock off of this design that didn't even have a manufacturer on listed on the box. I wish Plantronics would update the electronics but keep this package... they've, sadly, discontinued this in favor of the Backbeat. I'm not even remotely interested in the back-beat because it's stereo ONLY. I'll just have to keep buying refurbs and used units until they're all gone or the batteries die on the shelf... and given that they're lithium polymer... that give me, what... maybe six years after manufacture of the last unit... at most? Maybe someone will have a better design by then. Who knows, Bluetooth may even be a thing of the past by then.

Have had 5 different headsets and I purchased my first 975 about 4 years ago. This earpiece is perfect if you need one with good volume. The 975 will adjust to a high volume and with no distortion. It also has great range. You can be further away from your phone without fade or disconnection then any other Bluetooth I've encountered. The battery lasts longer and the portable charging case is an excellent touch. The only complaint I have is, the paint chips very easily. That is why I bought the second one. I wouldn't have needed a second if the paint was more durable. This would be a 5 star rating if the paint didn't chip. Would recommend to anyone who travels a lot or is on the phone a lot during the day.

I wasn't expecting much, but so far I'm very impressed. I chose this one mainly because it seemed to be the one most likely to fit my small ears & be lightweight. It does fulfill this completely and is almost unnoticeable in my ear. Sound quality is very good. It paired easily both with my Motorola Droid 3 and my Acer Aspire laptop. Range is very good as I could walk to other rooms and sound didn't degrade. I've had it less than 24 hrs so far, but I'm happy with it. I've determined range is dependent on what version of bluetooth you are connected to. If your phone or other device is BT 3.0+ as my laptop is, then you'll get more range. Otherwise if like my phone your at BT 2.1, then you'll get much less range.

I've had the M25 for a couple of months now and I love the way it fits in my ear. It's very comfortable and many times I forget I even have it in. The volume and the clarity is as good as can be expected in any bluetooth. The reason I am writing this review is because several days ago I forgot to remove it from some clothing and it went through the wash. I left it dry out several days without turning it on. I then turned it on and it did not turn on at first so I then charged it for several hours hoping the heat generated from the charging would further dry it out. After several hours of charging I tried it again and this time it turned on and works perfectly. I know it's not advertised as waterproof and who knows how many other washings it can survive (I won't be testing that theory if at all possible) but it's nice to know it still works after the accidental washing.

Initally I liked this earpiece. The longer I wore it, the more it hurt my ear. It fits really snug around your ear causing pressure to the inside of your ear where the piece sits. It also is lacking the flexibility (swivel) of the arm on the piece. Meaning, you cannot rotate to fit the other ear by turning it; you have to disconnect the piece to switch ears. It also kept disconnecting from my phone. After each call, it would power itself off and I would have to reconnect when I realized it wasnt connected.

The car charger adapter did not work from the beginning. When I called customer service, I was told accessories were not covered, and given the product part number to purchase a new one. Why would I want to do business with a company that does not stand behind its brand new product? The Bluetooth headset seems to work acceptably well, even though I find it uncomfortable to wear for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Product worked great.... for about three months. I don't know when I will learn my lesson. I keep buying these $20 Plantronics bluetooth and for some reason I am always suprised when they stop working after about three months. I am not particularly hard on them, I mainly use them for my daily commute, but no matter how hard I try I can't seem to get one to last longer than three months! VERY Frustrating. I like the way the Plantronics fit vs other Bluetooth options, but I am going to go broke replacing these darn things.

Pro:- excellent battery life- very good noise cancelling- very light- very discreet (unlike others which use strong colors and flashy LEDs too much)Cons:- so light and comfy I sometimes forget I'm wearing it and end up looking like a douchebag (talking to people face-to-face while still wearing it)- the ear tips, while more than sufficient for regular use, sometimes fail to hold the headset in place when chewing or runningPlease note that you'll have to develop a habit of placing it into its case after use. It's very very easy to lose the headset when it's not in its case.
