I bought this headset primarily for driving use. This head set is small, lightweight and reasonably comfortable to wear. Now I use it regularly even when not driving. What I liked about this headset.a. Affordable, light, compact.b. A2DP function: Normally a wireless headset can only provide audio when making 'calls'. While a wired headset can provide audio when making calls plus, listening to media (audio, video), games, phone system sounds, gps, etc. In a nutshell the wireless headset now works like a regular wired headset. At times I use the headset to watch media or play games as not to disturb my children while they sleep beside me.Note: This headset is primarily designed to provide voice clarity when making calls. Sound is very clear and perfect when it comes to 'people speaking' type of audio. Don't expect audio quality to be excellent when it comes to listening to music (treble and bass) -- definitely no stereo sound as you need a left and right headset to get this.c. Long battery life: With A2DP function, headset will be pointless if it has poor battery life. M25 is rated at 11 hours talk time and 125 days standby time. Have been using this headset for 4 days now and the battery still registers 9 hours of talk time. There are instances that I forgot to turn the unit off the entire day. Battery life from 10 hours registered 9 hours the following day. The battery consumption in my opinion is superb!d. Can connect to 2 devices at the same timeI have not tried to connect to 2 phones yet. But I do connect to my mobile phone and PC at the same time and hear audio from both. A limitation I found here is that the PC will always register as phone 1 and my mobile phone will be registered as phone 2.Device registered in phone 2 will not have A2DP function. While the PC registered in phone 1 seem to have A2DP as I hear all PC system sounds from the headset.e. Plantronics App from Android marketPlantronics come with a 'Headset Battery Meter' app from Android Market. I can see the battery life of my device from my android app which is a plus for me. (note: headset will also tell you remaining talk time each time headset is turned on).Clarifying issues encountered by other reviewers.1. Disconnection issues: Personally I have not yet encountered any disconnection issues with the following scenarios.Driving: Headset on my ear, phone is either in my pocket or in one of the cup holders in the vehicle (range: within 3 feet).Regular use: Headset on my ear, phone in my pocket. (range: within 2 feet)PC use: Headset on my ear connected to Notebook PC (range: 3 feet)Other notes:Difference between M25 and M55.M55 is basically an M25 with added voice command feature. You can say 'answer' or 'ignore' to accept or reject calls. That is the only major difference that I know and the rest should be the same. The voice command feature comes at a premium of USD 10.00. Vocalyst feature will add more voice command features by controlling your mobile phone with an annual subscription rate. This added feature I do not require hence I went with the M25 instead.

I had been very happy with the Plantronics Voyager PRO Bluetooth Headset would have kept this one for years, as it perfectly satisfied all of my needs. But I had an accident with the one that I reviewed here in 2009, so I decided to see what other Plantronics Bluetooth headsets were available.Picked up this Plantronics Voyager 520 Bluetooth Headset as it had been recommended by a friend as a reasonably priced alternative, which it is. It's certainly better than my older Motorola H500-series Bluetooth headsets, but not quite in the same league as the Plantronics Voyager PRO series, and for a number of reasons.Likes:+ Very simple setup and pairing; couldn't be easier+ Excellent battery life; easily meets 8 hours of talk time+ Comfortable earloop; swivels to fit either ear+ Excellent and clearly written instructions+ Works with Skype through the computer+ Good one-button controlsCompromises:* Wind noise higher than expected; oyager PRO series is far better* Moderate noise cancellation; Voyager PRO series is far better* Claimed range of "up to 33 feet" was rareDislikes:- High static levels; annoying to parties on the other end- Proprietary plug on the charger; should be a standard Micro USB- Junky plastic desk charging cradle; not worthy of the Plantronics name- Soft plastic separated on the earloop; had to fix with SuperGlue, more than onceRegular Use:As noted in the beginning, this was picked up as reasonably priced alternative to the Plantronics Voyager PRO series. I'm neutral on the design of this Voyager 520, though the chrome look could have been muted and not so glitzy, but it was the ability to communicate and sometimes for extended periods that was important. In that, this headsetdid well except for the occasional high static levels experienced, where none had been there with the older Voyager PRO (and more on this later).But... the two-piece ear loop separated and had to be glued together, and this had to be done a few times. Once I lost the soft plastic part for a couple of days and luckily found it. The last time, I cleaned both parts carefully with isopropyl alcohol before using the SuperGlue, and so far it has held. This is apparently a common problem as I found on the Plantronics site when I went to see if they had a tech solution. Plantronics needs to go back to the drawing board on this. But my biggest complaint is that this Plantronics Voyager 520 requires a proprietary plug for charging in a world that has gone to Micro USB plugs. In fact, the Plantronics Voyager PRO HD, Voyager PRO+, Discovery 975, Savor M1100, M100, and even their discontinued Explorer 240, 360 and 390 all use the universal Micro USB plugs for charging, so why should this model be different? Plantronics needs to work on their charging connector. It may not matter that much, but note that this Plantronics Voyager 520 Bluetooth Headset is listed here as Item model number: 75859-01. On the Plantronics site, it's listed as P/N: 75859-01, and according to them, the "Product is Discontinued" so be aware of that. All this being said, I moved on to the Plantronics Voyager PRO+ Bluetooth Headset earlier this year, and like it's earlier PRO series sibling it's a 5-star offering. The Voyager 520 has been set aside as a backup, and so far it hasn't been needed. I could have gone for the Plantronics Voyager Pro HD but in truth didn't know if I would have used all of its extra features. There are other more economical models to pick from, such as the highly-rated Plantronics M50 (which does have micro USB charging), but as a loyal fan of this company's products, I would suggest steering away from this Voyager 520 Headset... you'll be happier with others.7/28/2012

Great and easy to sync with Netbook and Tablet. Amazing audio quality and other side can hear me really clear. Good to use with Skype. 90% compatible with Ubuntu (Linux), meaning everything works with exception of answering phone calls and hanging up (working on finding or writing a script to fix that). If you turn the device off and then on it will only take about 5 seconds to sync again with your device!! (if your device is set to do so automatically). The only thing I found confusing was the instructions to sync to devices with the headset, I don't think it works as advertise but I might be doing something wrong. The headset does in fact pairs with two devices but does not pick the call from the first device that get a call in. If you answer with the phone then it will automatically send it to the headset regardless of what device was it. I don't care to much about that feature but thought of adding the comment since someone else might care. Also the instruction on how to accomplish these are more tricky and will not work exactly as explain depending on your device, also the battery will get drain very quickly in the dual sync mode. About AudioIQ2 technology uuhmmm, I think its somehow adjusting my volume because I have never needed to change the volume on the headset even if on a loud environment. I thought its purpose was to cancel noise from outside so that the other party can hear you clearly but although the other side of the conversation can hear me clearly they also mention they hear every other detail in the background very clearly too. I guess I don't know what is really doing because there is no on off for that setting, is constantly working. Now! that is not a complain is more of an observation because I still love the headset. The charging case is awesome and lets you know exactly how much battery charge is left and gives you two more charges even while the headset is sync with a device. its been a week a few phone calls (about 4 or 5) one been a two hours long and still have not needed to plug in to wall(i have been using the case battery). Although if you use the phone daily for hours I bet you will need to charge it at least twice in a week to the wall. Again as I explain above is a really good Bluetooth headset worth the price.

I work for a large telecommunications company. My duties include frequent work outside (ohio weather, rain & snow for half the year), and occasional work on telephone poles.I purchased this bluetooth so as to allow me to get work done, whilst still assisting other techs with their questions as they phoned for help.Outside use:Very solid performance, good quality on both ends of conversation. The only issue I have faced in hearing the other party, is during excessively strong winds (moot point really. During these conditions it's difficult to hear people on phone without the headset, as well as people standing next to you).Up on telephone poles it can tend to get a bit windier than ground level. The technology used in this headset was pivotal in allowing me to make use of my phone while on a pole.Inside use:Inside use was good, it was plenty loud for my taste (good adjustability). People standing next to me were unable to hear the other end of the conversation (Fun times with the headset with crazy customers, techs on the other end of the line would talk smack about the customer, while you would do your best to keep a straight face).Earpiece & retentionPreviously I had a bluetooth with the over ear design, It was a cheaply produced unit. It tended to irritate my ear where the plastic mold came together (left a slight lip in the plastic ear retainer, scratching my ear, causing irritation). I had no such issues with this unit, for i did not us the ear loop. I will say it took time to get used to the rubber eartips. I tried different positions until i found the optimal location allowing me to use for extended periods without irritation (about 2 weeks until I was able to wear this unit without irritation).I used the medium ear piece which allowed pretty tight retention in ear. Never had any issues with headset falling out due to gaffing telephone poles, crawling in craw spaces, etc (typical cable TV technician work).I will say pressing the call answer button with gloves on (during winter months) was pretty difficult (small button, with a plastic pivot press). I usually found myself answering by flipping my work phone open (auto answer) then closed (no auto end call). Also pressing the button was a bit hard on your ear considering the only thing holding it on was the eartips.I had this unit for just over 2 years, and it has failed. It served me quite well, talking on the phone for several hours a day, 6 days a week, for 2 years (my company recently indicated to me that they are unsure how i get any work done, considering the amount of time spent on the phone :)I'm unsure if the failure was the battery (end of life) or my negligence. The day it failed I was outside in heavy heavy rain (not the first time, but usually i would place headset in my chest pocket when not talking during rain). The charge port on the unit is facing up, if the headset is in your right ear. I'm guessing water flooded the USB charge port, and broke the unit. All in all this unit is very robust, small sleek design (less talk time than some of the bulkier units, but thats the tradeoff if this is the look your're going for). I feel that 2 years of service in the conditions it endured is pretty darn good.My next unit will be a Plantronics Voyager PRO+ Bluetooth Headset. This should afford extra talk time which has become more important to me now that several other techs have acquired bluetooth headsets.

I've been using Plantronics Voyager series Bluetooth headsets exclusively for the last 5-6 years replacing them after about 2 years when they started to physically fall apart. My last one, while glued together in couple of places, still works like a charm and I'm keeping it in the second car as a spare. However, when I decided that it needs to be replaced as the "full-time" headset, I looked at what else Plantronics has to offer and ran across M25.Since I wasn't looking for any advanced features that it's missing but which are presented to its more expensive relative (M50?) I reluctantly decided to give it a try. The primary reason for not buying another Voyager right away was price - $25 vs. $100 was just too appealing but I was concerned that small headset with short boom (well, technically there is no boom at all) and flat ear piece just won't cut it because of quality. When it came though, I quickly changed my mind. The device is tiny, light and after some getting used to, the over the ear "hanger" made a lot of sense. It pairs with the phone at lighting speed (about 2-3 times quicker than my old Voyager) and so far I've been very impressed with noise canceling features. Not only everybody I talk to say they can hear me better, but it also appears to be filtering out the incoming white noise as well. One more feature that I'm finding very useful that my old Voyager Pro didn't have (the newer ones may already have it) is that I can now hear the driving directions from my Droid through it as before the phone conversations would go through the headset and driving directions would have to be passed to the speakerphone on the phone itself. So, basically, it can dub as mono headphone as well.In short, highly recommend so far! Can't really comment on reliability yet as I only have it for about a month, but the battery seem to be doing ok and consistent with usage - the headset "speaks" how much batter life you got left when it's turned on.

Oh, I so want to love this little earpiece.Pros:Slide mic down to talk - wow, a GREAT feature that eliminates fussing with tiny buttons you can't feelStereo on demand - you can use with or without stereo - I use it in stereo mode all the time (even on phone calls) because my hearing sucksMicroUSB charge port - Standard charging system so I can use existing cablesDecent price (apparently you can get it for less than the $60 I paid)Earpiece cord is a cloth mesh - much better than typical plastic wire covering - doesn't stick to your neckMulti-pairing - (This is impressive!)Right now I have it paired to both my Droid Bionic and my Blackerry Curve. When turned on, it will connect with the last device it was connected to, according to profile. For example - yesterday I paired with my Bionic and Blackberry for phone and media profiles. When I turned it on this morning it re-connected phone to the Blackberry, and Media to the Bionic (which is how it was connected when I turned it off yesterday). Very nice. Also, it can manage simultaneous connections to different devices by profile. For example - It was paired to both Bionic and Blackberry for both media and phone profile. I turned off Bluetooth on Blackberry, and started listening to a podcast on my Bionic. Re-enabled Bluetooth on Blackberry and connected it to headset for the phone profile. When I take calls on the Blackberry they come through the headset while media playing on my Bionic pauses. When I hang up the call on the Blackberry, media on the Bionic resumes. Slick! (And frankly how it *should* work!)ConsSound quality - OMG this thing has terrible sound quality. Tinny as hell - even when I use an equalizer on my phone it's still very tinny. I've had other BT headsets (first stereo unit almost exactly like this one circa 2004) that sounded better. Sad, coming from Plantronics - their headsets usually rock. Even for phone calls the sound quality is too flat and tinny. It's bad enough that I've returned to using speakerphone instead. Some other notes:My previous comment on connectivity rated it good. I must retract that - this thing drops out horribly all the time with my Droid Bionic. Mind, I use 3 other Bluetooth devices - two Bluetooth media receivers (in 2 cars) and a *very* old LG Bluetooth earpiece (at least 5 years old). All maintain the connection far, far better than this thing. It drops ALL.THE.TIME while sitting still, phone on desk to my left - just about 18" from the headset on my head. And don't even think of putting your phone in your pocket! With my other BT devices I can walk most of the 15' range of Bluetooth from them before they drop.Changing my review to Do Not Buy. Sad, Plantronics usually produces really great headphones. If I still had the packaging I'd return it and buy the Jaybirds. They have similar reviews, but I've used a pair and they sounded FAR better than these.

*update* 06/28/10The little metal piece on the strip that holds the case to the clip has always worried me. It felt more fragile than the rest of it. The other day, it snapped. now, I have a clip, and a case, and no way to attach the two of them. Other than that, I still love this headset!I ordered this headset about a week ago. It arrived today, right on schedule. It is beautiful, and the price (that I got it for) is fantastic! I feel that the full retail price is a bit high. The first thing I noticed is the solid feeling of this headset. For something so delicate looking, it feels very sound and well built in my hand. It dosn't feel like it is just going to fall apart. That pleased me. I am so tired of new products going for what I feel is a rediculous amount of money for non exhistant quality. The case follows suit with a feeling of quality. The leather is supple, the stitching is elegant, and the cradle has a lovely (unexpected attention to detail) gloss finish, and even the button to release the headset feels like it won't break tomorrow. The unit is a little deeper than I thought (there are not a lot of side view pictures with something to scale it against), but it is still very nice. It is sleek, smooth, and easy to use. The depth of the unit makes it easy to push the multi function button without pushing the unit further into my ear. The placement of both the volume button and the multi function buttons are also very useable. The sound quality is great, and it is very user friendly. Many people have stated that the single volume button is annoying, but I have found that it is easy to use, and actually, not very necissary. I can control the volume of my headset through my phone, but have rarely found it necissary to adjust the volume at all. I use this headset mainly in the car at highway speeds, and I can hear my caller loud and clear, and no complaints from them on sound quality or background noise.I have also owned a plantronics voyager pro that also had great sound quality, however I found that the voyager pro was way too big for me. Uppon reading the reviews for that unit, I found that I was not the only female having issues with the headset not fitting due to it's large size. I was also unhappy with the flexibility of that bluetooth. It gave so easily to pressure that it was impossible to get it to put enough leverage on the side of my head to make it stay put. I had to constantly press the thing to my ear to hear my caller. For the Discovery 975, I am using the smallest ear gel piece that comes with the unit, and that is where I find a small issue. The hard plastic piece that the ear gel fits over is still a little big for my ear. I did find that my ear was a little tender after extended use, but had the same issue with my first in-ear headset. It became a non issue after my ear got used to it. I am hoping for the same result with this one. I have found that adjusting the ear gel so that the loop is further back helps with a more comfortable fit. The ear gel is very easy to adjust once you get it on the ear piece (which is a bit of a struggle) I have also found that when the loop is positioned well, the headset is very secure in my ear.I have also noticed that there are small teeth on the ear gel that line up with the small openings in the ear piece. It makes the position of the ear gel very stable. Getting the gel on is a little tough, and because the gel "zips" to the headset, you have to make sure the pegs line up with the holes. I have noticed other reviews stating that there was static noise, but that may have been because the pegs/teeth in the ear gel didnt line up propperly with the ear piece and may have created some vibration. The carrying case is another feature I absolutely LOVE. I do not like constantly wearing a bluetooth, and like to have somewhere to put it when not in use. The carrying case is the perfect solution. I can keep my bluetooth in great shape, and charge it at the same time!I did not bother charging the set until it died. Before it dies, it gives you two verbal warnings. First, battery low. Second, charge battery. I got right at five hours of use out of it! After it gave me the charge battery prompt, I put it in the charging case (did not bring the cord with me), left it plugged in for fifteen minutes, and used it again. I did not even get the battery down to warning levels after an additional hour of use. as I drove home, I plugged it in again. By the time I got home (twenty five minutes later), the case said that the headset had a full charge, and that the case had half of a charge left. The case can give two full charges to the headset before needing to be recharged it's self, AND you can charge the case by it's self, the headset by it's self, or with the charging case, OR you can charge both at the same time. If I loose the case or forget to bring it inside with me, I can STILL use my headset. SO useful!Really, the only reason I omitted the last star is the fact that t

This is my first Bluetooth headset, so I don't have a basis for comparison. The gel ear loop is pretty comfortable, and this headset seems very lightweight. I've worn it for hours at a time with no discomfort. My problem has to do with unreliable performance. I use this headset to stream podcasts and music while I'm working, and the audio cuts out quite often. I found that tilting my head a little to the right so that my jaw wasn't between the headset and the phone in my pocket significantly improved the audio playback, which seems rather silly for a Bluetooth device that's perhaps 3 feet from the signal source. This happened in my office and out walking around, so my #1 purpose for the headset is shot. For that alone, I'd return this.To make matters worse, the headset has made my phone redial the most recent contact. If it happened once, I'd assume it was my mistake. It's easy to hit the Call button. I was suspicious the second and third times. The fourth time, however, was the last straw. I took the headset off and slid the power button to the Off setting, and then I watched my iPhone (sitting on my desk) light up as it dialed my mother's number. 4 times in two days. That's ridiculous.Maybe this one is defective. Maybe it just doesn't play well with the iPhone 4. Others seem to have good reviews. I'll definitely be returning it and going with a higher-quality headset. I got it for $29.99 on sale, but the aggravation isn't worth any amount of price break.

I had a Plantronics Explorer 245. It worked fine, but battery life wasn't great. Unfortunately, it was in a shirt pocket and went through the laundry. The "bag of rice" trick didn't work, and the thing is shot. So I went out and got the M25 as a replacement.I like the way the M25 fits, and it's small, and it seems to have great battery life. What I hate about it:- it doesn't auto-connect to my (older Motorola) phone so I have to manually select it on the phone every time- it has a very short range of about 10' in open space; can't punch through a plaster wall; and I used to be able to use the Explorer 245 up to 50' away, even through walls and floors;- Sound quality is very poor; static-filled and "flangeing" sounds like everybody is either standing under a waterfall or using Auto-Tune.I think the M25 is trying to do to much, like processing out background noise etc. I don't want it to do that. I'm using my ancient corded VoiceStar headset, where I can actually hear the other party instead of added static and processing noise. But my phone only has a single USB port for everything, so I can't use the corded headset while the phone is charging, which really defeats my purpose.I'm going to go looking for a less "can-do" headset that doesn't try to do to much and just lets me talk on the phone.

Ужасно

I just bought this headset to use it with Skype on my android based mobile phone and tablet. However, it does not work on either of these devices - when the headset is connected the Skype connection either does not work at all or there is no sound. I called Plantronics tech support and was informed that this headset is compatible only with Skype on Iphone and Ipad. This information is NOT included in product description which says "simple setup with Bluetooth phones" without mentioning any compatibility problems with Android devices, whose market share in the US is 54%. This looks like misleading product information, hence one star. However, Plantronics customer support seems to be better than the industry average, very responsive, even though all they did was to inform me that the product in question is a piece of crap.An afterthought- I tried to use Bluetooth on many devices, smart phone, "dumb" phone, tablet, laptop, and PC and the only time I was successful is when I connected a keyboard to a tablet. All other connections involving data transfers, tethering, or even connecting an earpiece either worked erratically or did not work at all. Needless to say that "pairing" BT devices is far more cumbersome than simply plugging in a connecting cable. It looks that Bluetooth is a modern example of a Rube Goldberg machine.

Великолепно

I'm one of those people who does a lot of research before buying something like this. In the past, I had Plantronics Voyager 510 and loved the sound quality. However, being a female with small ears who also wears glasses, the bulky piece of the 510 that went up over and wrapped around behind the ear cartilidge never wanted to stay behind my ear, and so would often come loose and fall out.I then tried the voyager 520 since it had a smaller ear loop. I thought that one had worse sound quality, and actually fell out of my ear easier than the 510. So, I went back to using the 510.Then, I lost the 510, and hence, my reason for researching new headsets. After all of this, I had figured out that, along with sound quality, stable fit was a hugely important quality for me. I actually went to a few local cell phone stores to try different headsets on and narrowed it down to the Plantronics Discovery 975 or the Motorola one that is supposed to work kind of like the jawbone. It had a piece that went pretty far into year ear that sensed the sound of your voice through your own bones.I ended up going with the Discovery 975 for several reasons. 1)the 975 has voice dial and last number redial capabilities (which I had gotten used to on my old Plantronics sets and liked a lot). I understand this feature doesn't work with every type of phone, but on my old motorola flip phones, and on my current Blackberry Tour, it does work. 2) I could get the 975 from Amazon directly (and more cheaply than at local stores), who I trust more than 3rd party sellers online. 3) I liked the idea of having a case for the headset to keep it safe in my purse. That it was a charging case was even better. 4) the reviews for sound quality for the 975 seemed better for my purposes. The jawbone feature of the motorola had to be manually engaged if you were in a noisy situation, and then the reviews said you still had to talk loud and enunciate much to be heard and understood. The 975's noise reduction features are always engaged. 5) I had had Plantronics bluetooths in the past, and was overall pretty happy with them (at least I was with the Voyager 510).SOUND QUALITYAfter using the 975 for about a month now, I have been very happy with the sound quality - both what I hear at my end and what others tell me I sound like. In my car, in noisy grocery stores, and outside in at least moderate wind, the sound has always been quite good, or so my husband tells me. I can hear others very well also.FITI am EXTREMELY happy with the fit. I could go to a concert and head bang, and I don't think it would come out. In fact, one day I did a pretty forceful head shake demo for one of my co-workers, and she was super impressed. Before I even received the 975, I also ordered some ear loops for it on ebay (the one shown in one of the reader-submitted pictures). I don't need it. In fact, I'd say (unless it stretches with use) the 975 is far more comfortable without it, and just as stable in my ear. Some other reviews claim the 975 itself is uncomfortable with the silicone stabilizer loop that goes in your ear fold. Maybe a little uncomfortable after several hours of having it in your ear, but you could always try a smaller silicone piece. Three sizes are included. Plus, it is so easy to take on and off, I sometimes just set it on my desk, and if I hear my phone ring, I just slip it in quick and start talking. Most of all, I'm thrilled that it says in without anything (especially anything heavy or bulky) going over the back of my ear. Now it doesn't matter if I'm wearing my glasses (or my bulkier sunglasses). I can still wear my bluetooth without having to worry that it will fall out.VOLUME BUTTONSome have complained about the small volume button and only having three volume levels to toggle through rather than an up and down volume rocker. I don't think it's that small or hard to use, especially if you have a little bit of fingernail on any of your fingers. However, I think these people are forgetting that you can adjust the volume to very specific levels using the volume controls on your phone itself. At least I can using the up and down buttons on the side of my blackberry (and the same was true with my older plantronics sets and my old motorola flip phones.)CALL BUTTONThis is the main button that does most everything. Turns it on, turns it off, answers calls, ends calls, initiates voice dial, initiates last number redial. I don't have a problem with it. But then, I'm used to how Plantronics sets up its controls. If you are new to plantronics, you might have to play with it a little to get the hang of it, but I think it's pretty easy.CASEI very much like the charging case, and the charging status indicator is nice, too. You can even charge the 975 in the case while the headset is connected to your phone, and if your phone rings, just pop it out of your case, put it in your ear, and you're good to go. Now I don't have to worry about t
