There is one large flaw with the plantronics USB audio line, It does not fully support 64 bit Operating Systems. If you are running Windows 7 64 bit there will be a CONSTANT buzzing sound. Aside from this they work well, and are moderately comfortable for about 4 hours. The mic quality is decent. For 64 bit system users I recommend a similar product that uses a standard 3.5 mm jack.

These are nice large headphones with a nice build quality and an affordable price. The only thing keeping me from giving this a 5 star is the sound quality. The DSP in my opinion is a gimmick. The headphones sound fine when gaming, and okay for spoken voice, but other than that, the sound quality from these things are horrendous. The DSP just pushes all the sound towards the lower end of the scale, making audio sound deep and muddy. This translates really badly with music. If you are only doing Skype calls, it's okay. If you are gaming, than it's still okay. If you do anything else, it'll sound bad. I wish there is a way to turn off the DSP function. The noise cancellation function is different from the DSP, so audio should be fine if there was a way to turn it off. It'll just be less deep and muddy. That is the only thing keeping me from giving this a 5-4 stars. If I get a comment telling me how to turn it off, than I'll edit my review accordingly.

I was searching for a cheap headset in my price range. After hours of looking, I found this and heard good reviews. I ordered it and...wow. Waaay better than I expected. I don't really have any problems with it.

My last headset, a clunky, back-slung heavy-duty Logitech gamer headset finally gave up the ghost about a month ago. I'd been having problems for years regarding the sound, but it finally gave out entirely on one side. I was strapped for funds, trying to look for a new headset that would be good for gaming, listening to a lot of music, and talking on voice with my boyfriend and other friends, without being too expensive. A lot of these are very pricy, like my Logitech one. I ordered this Plantronics set, as it fell within my price-range and seemed to have the features that I wanted. In Amazon fashion, it arrived promptly. The packaging was a battle in itself to get into, but it made actually taking out and finally plugging in the headset more satisfying. If you have a box-cutter and plenty of patience, you'll get into it.I have to say, I'm altogether WAY more pleased with this headset than I was with my Logitech gaming headset. It looks and feels light and somewhat fragile (compared to my other one) but as long as you're not too brutal on your things, you should be okay. My head is pretty tiny and it fits perfectly on the tightest setting, and is easily adjusted. The cushioned earpieces are pretty comfortable, although my ears get a bit sore after about 2-3 hours of wearing them nonstop, but that's to be expected. The cord is long and reaches my computer no problem. The sound on this is clear, and music and game sounds are great, and the stereo effect is nice--well-balanced. You can hear moderate music/sounds outside of the headset pretty easily, not a lot of noise cancellation, but this is fine.My significant other (long distance relationship) said that my voice on the microphone sounds better/clearer on this headset than the other one I had. We've done plenty of gaming together, voice + game, and this has been ideal.The only slight complaint I might have is the microphone mute button. When using it, it switches off the microphone easily, but then after a few minutes I try switching the mic back ON and it takes several switching of back on and forth to actually get my voice to sound through the mic again. Usually takes several seconds of 'hello, can you hear me?' at the other person until the mic registers again. That's the only problem I have with the headset in general, and it's not enough to deduct a star from the overall score as I'm VERY happy with the other features.I definitely recommend this headset. It's cheap, but of high value regarding its price for the way it's working for me.

For the price at first I thought it was a great deal. However, not even 2 weeks into using it I started having problems with the sound and mic. From the reviews I've read this appears to not be a regular occurance but just use caution with buying this product.

Very comfortable headset with great sound. Voice sounds great but you can not talk load which is fine with me. Very easy to setup. Only thing I wished it did have was a mute and volume buttons on the usb cord. Only negative thing I can say if you wear them more then an hour or two they do become a bit uncomfortable but not unbearable.

I purchased this headset to record training videos. The headset serves that purpose reasonably well. What I don’t care for is the pressure that the headset exerts on my head and ears – there is no adjustment for the “spring” tension. Within a few minutes I can’t wait to take them off.

I used this headset for less than one day. I found it to be very uncomfortable and very "noisy", lots of sound coming through just from normal movement when talking. This headset had poor audio quality, my voice kept echoing in my headset even with the mic gain all the way down.

Absolutely hate the headset. Worse purchase I have made ever! Bought the headset to use daily for podcasting for my Gaming News business and for personal reasons. No where on the page did it mention a blue LED light from hell that litterally shines right in my glasses and reflects into my eye ball. I have tried everything aside from ripping the headset open and cutting the light. Tech support claims there is no way to turn it off. If you wear glasses do not buy this headset. It is awful. Hopefully I can get my money back and get a new one.

I had an expectation that there would be a switch on the earpiece that would enable me to answer calls: There was no such switch on the Plantronics Audio 655 USB Multimedia Headset. Probably an infrequent user's erronious expectation.

I strictly bought this for gaming. Mic didn't work at all no matter how many settings I configured. The headphone portion did have a good sound quality. But I still had to return it. Thankfully, the return process was smooth. Good customer service overall.

Comfortable to wear. Good sound quality. No uncomfortable pitches in my ears. I like that the mouth-piece can be moved, it's easy to adjust where needed or completely out of the way. Worth every penny.

still workin a year later, and who can complain about that. soundquality is good, both input and output. i wouldn't record music with them, but for online gaming and VoiP this is a great set.

I'm reviewing this on behalf of my friend I guess seeing as I bought it for him.It doesn't work quite right with Windows 64bit.. It will somehow work, but you'll experience a lot of fuzz and distortion when you're using this. My friend and I weren't expecting this to work amazingly for 30 bucks, but to work decently at least and this fell short of expectations.

Terribly uncomfortable around the ears, especially if you were glasses as I do. All because they skimped on the size of the earphone which should fit over the ear. These fit on top of the outer edges of the ears. If you have very small ears, they'll probably work for you.

I used this headset several times to talk on my computer in a chat room. Many people said they couldn't hear me. I also used it connected to my phone, I had no problem there. It was good for listening to music.

I work from home talking to customers all day but the mute button does not work. so, coughing or sneezing is out but if i am recorded on a call with those sound i can get in trouble at work. so this product sucks now i have to go buy another one.

I had hoped that this would improve my ability to communicate but due to the cell phone technology, the headset/mic didn't come close to achieving my expectation. The headset/mic works fine but was just not compatible with my cell. It was an experiment that didn't work. I would have returned it to Amazon but they would have charged so much money in return shipping costs, it wasn't worth returning.

tis a cool headset without much weight on it but still robust.i like volume feature on the ear !had initial hiccups getting machine to detect device and allow it to play and it got better by itself!!if someone wants a wired headset i'd recommend this - simple - not expensive and good clarity.

The headset sound quality is very good. It is very comfortable on the ears, although it is a little snug. Definitely cuts out background noise. Only negative to the headset is that it doesn't have a mute/volume box on the cord. The volume button is located on the ear covering - didn't see that until I checked the ad after receiving the headset. I would recommend it for the sound and price.

I really LOVE every aspect of this. The speaker quality alone is a good reason to get this. But the one fault is the mic quality, it picks up almost no background noise, which is awesome, but the actually quality is a large downgrade from my previous headset. However it is not so bad you can't use, it just isn't the first headset I'd recommend.

This was bought to be used with speech recognition software on a laptop. The boom mic needed to be in one specific location for the program to pick it up clear enough to work. If using just to talk to someone it would most likey work better. The headphones were used only for program feedback but they were clear and very understandable.

The headset has good sound and I am told the microphone is clear. The ear pieces are a bit small for me and cause a bit of pain after wearing them for a time. I have a big head so I don't hold the manufacturer responsible for that. The head phones work and I would probably buy them again.

Edited to add on 4/28/12: After going through several other headsets and having to return them, I went back to this one. The second one was much more comfortable and the sound quality is excellent. I'm guessing that I just got a defective one the first time. I've had this for 9 months now and it is living up to my usual expectations from Plantronics. I didn't like it covering my ears, but I've adjusted to that over the months.Overall, I'm now pleased with this headset and glad I gave it another chance.Leaving the old review just because.I got this headset after doing quite a bit of research. My Plantronics GameCom Pro 1 was the best headset I've ever had, but it died after 2 years of use. I went with this one as a viable replacement. I sent it back after only one day.Comfort - Not at all. I have a small head, yet it was quite stiff and squished my ears. Maybe if I'd kept it longer it would have loosened up, but other issues made that a moot point.Quality - very bad. I was very disappointed at the sound quality, both incoming and outgoing. I use this primarily for Ventrilo, while I'm gaming, using my desktop speakers for game sounds. It doesn't have to be fancy, but people heard a distinctive hum that I simply couldn't trace. I had to turn up the volume to max to be heard. I had to do this in the Vent settings and in Control Panel. Then it kept defaulting back to low, so I had to do this every time I logged in. The incoming sound was also erratic and I was always having to adjust someone.Ease of Use - Having to constantly reset the levels made this a nightmare. I want to stick a headset on my head and not worry about it, once I get the initial setup done.Maybe I got a defective set, but considering I'm ordering this, I didn't want to take a chance on the same thing happening. I'm not thrilled with the replacement (Logitech Clear Chat), but at least I don't have to mess with levels every 30 seconds.Amazon, as always, was wonderful and I was able to return this easily.

I do a significant number of conference calls and wanted a nicer headset. I didn't care if it was wireless, but did want something comfortable. I have found the 655 from plantronics to be just that. I have started using them for listening to music as well. They have a deep sound and are very clear. Also works as expected for calls. Very clear and keep out the noise.

Previously used .355 headsets, decided I wanted to try a USB headset to see if it would fix an issue where I heard buzzing in my ear. Got the .655, plugged it in, all seemed fine until listened to music. Audio quality was about 5/10 and everything sounds rather hollow and crackly. The mic turns itself on so I hear myself through the speakers and crackling regardless if I am trying to talk to someone. Going to try and talk to plantronics support to see if they can resolve the issue or I may be returning this and saving up for a logitech or TB headset.

I am using these with the X-Lite software on Windows 7 64-bit and they work great. VOIP call quality is spectacular, especially when laptop is connected with Ethernet as opposed to Wi-Fi. Was truly plug-and-play, no configuration was necessary at all. For music listening, I was pleasantly surprised by the bass response. They can apparently get much louder than I will ever be using them.

Don't expect anything amazing from this headset, but it isn't a bad or horrible headset, especially for the price. Over all just a decent headset.From my experience of headsets (I have had many) I recommend spending $100+ on a headset (make sure its a solid brand too) and pretty much never have to buy another headset again. Its worth the investment!

I needed a new headset for Skyping for a telecommute job, and this one came highly recommended.I've since been using for video chatting and gaming.It works very well for gaming. The ear pads are comfy for long sessions, and the microphone is very clear.It's not a glamorous or expensive, but it works great.

I got mine at best buy a few years ago. It was AWESOME! I had been using $10 Sony earbuds that stretched like 2 feet and broke. So I went to best buy and because it was my first USB headset, I got the middle priced option. So I got home, opened it, and started using. It was PERFECT! It did everything from listening to music, to gaming, to recording audio, to even Skype calls. It worked right away on XP, Vista, Ubuntu, Win7, even OSX! Now for Christmas 2010 we got a PS3. So I plugged it in and started playing. IT WORKED! But afterwards I went to go plug it back into my computer, and nothing happened. So I plugged and unplugged a few times. Nothing. So I tried plugging it in when the computer was off. Nothing. I quickly went to Google and tried to the drivers for it (Generic USB Audio or something) and downloaded and STILL nothing. I tried rolling back, updating, and uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers but nothing worked. So I went and tried plugging it in to every computer in the house. Nothing. I went to the PS3 and plugged it in. It recognized it, but didn't work. No audio in or out. So now it just hangs on my wall, a symbol of what used to be.
