Here's the deal. This is a great headset for a PC. Just plug it in and it works. Sound is good, mic is good. Very comfortable. The sound volume is controlled by a button on the earpiece or the keyboard. NOTE NOTE NOTE !!!!!! This does not work on a ps3 console. The volume comes through at full blast and is not adjustable on a PS3 console. It is however, a great set for pc gaming or phone calls.

I purchased this headset because my Logitech one just quit. Ages ago, I had sworn off Plantronics ever again because they would break so quickly. It's been a couple years (that's how long I've had that Logitech), so I thought I'd give Plantronics a try again.I like this headset, it's got large cushy ear protectors, and the top band has a nice cushion for your head. I like how the mic is automatically muted when it is swung to the upwards position. I don't like how when the headset is turned on/off (either by unplugging it, or turning your monitor off, if you have USB on your monitor), the volume level is lost.Pros: Large cushions for ears, head strap cushionCons: Volume level is lost when you plug and unplug it, very short cord, the cord is thin (lack of insulation), sometimes a humming can be heard until it's turned off/unplugged.

I find these very painful to wear for extended periods (more than an hour) and the microphone volume is low. They squeeze very tight against my ears, and I think the fact that I wear glasses may contribute to the pain.The mic volume is just low, period. I find some software programs insist that I use a different mic because this one can't be calibrated. The mic is positioned in the right location (about 1 inch from my mouth) but I have to practically shout to get the VU meter to move above 50%. Yet it's very good at picking up lip smacks and breathing noises. It may very well work OK for Skype, but as something for producing recordings it's a flop. I think I'll spend a bit more and hopefully get a better-quality unit with a more adjustible boom.

I bought these headphones to use with skype because I get fed up with AT&T dropping calls at home. Putting these on made we feel like I should be asking, "would you like fries with that?", but what I really cared about was the sound quality. On my end, the sound was crystal clear. However, there were constant cut-outs or distortions when I spoke that made conversation almost impossible. I think this may be related to a hyper-sensitive microphone or overly aggressive noise cancellation. I tried adjusting the microphone in all different positions but this did not make any difference. I questioned whether it was just a skype issue, but after switching to a logitech clearchat headset, I have not had any similar issues. So it is just a crappy microphone on an otherwise comfortable if goofy looking headset. I recommend the clearchat.

I purchased two pairs for co-hosts of my podcast, Stuff This Week. When we are all in studio we have professional microphones but quite often now they will just Skype in to the show using these headphones. I recently ordered the .Audio 655 to replace my old Plantronics DSP 500, which I absolutely loved (for about 5 years until the mic stopped working). I was hesitant to buy a headset that had no reviews, but so far I am very pleased.I use Skype regularly and everyone says the sound quality of my mic is superb (although they said the same with the DSP 500). The mic itself is attached to a stiff piece of plastic that swivels very smoothly (I don't anticipate it loosening any).The USB cable is pretty thin, although plenty long. I feel like I need to be cautious with it around my kitten.The buttons on the headset work nicely, although I preferred the DSP 500's method of having the volume controls located along the USB cable. Also, there is a blue light on the left earphone in the center of the audio controls. This light appears to be on at all times.I have two complaints about the headset so far:- My ears are slightly too large for ear cushions. I would rate my ears as slightly larger than normal (but not by much). Initially putting the headset on, it is extremely comfortable, but after about 20 minutes of use it becomes a little uncomfortable (this is a very mild uncomfortability).- The headset has no drivers, and Windows XP recognizes it as "Generic USB Audio Device" whereas my old DSP was registered as a "Plantronics Headset". This may not be important to most people, but I have a lot of audio devices attached to my computer (my old DSP, a Skype phone, webcam mic, speakers, and now this headset). All of my other sound devices are appropriately named; it's a shame my newest toy is not. Again, this is a very minor complaint.

The sound quality is fine, and as others have said, the microphone picks up a lot of surrounding sounds. I like that there are no drivers to install. The headphones themselves aren't very comfortable -- they feel too small and tight. It's fine for Skype conversations but I wouldn't want to listen to a lot of music.The main problem is that Windows XP doesn't switch nicely between the traditional analog audio input/output and USB, so I have to go to the Control Panel to switch back and forth every time I plug them in and out. Perhaps a driver could help with this but I didn't see a note about that in the package.

Another FINE Plantronics product. The 326 headset is excellent quality and very comfortable to wear. I have worked in a call center enviorment for more than 15 years and Plantronics products are without a doubt the best products for home or office use. I currently own 2 Plantronics headsets (the 326 and the M214C) and both are outstanding headsets.Does come with 1 year limited warranty.For the person that bought the "dead headset"...I'm sure you could have exchanged/returned the "defective" headset to where you made the purchase. Or, perhaps you could have contacted Plantronics directly. Their number is right on the on the original packaging of your purchased product which is: (800) 544-4660). Since the item would have been considered still under warranty, I'm sure they would have been happy to help resolve your issue.

Skype calls are crystal clear now, both on my end, and my callers side. I saw other reviews saying this headset is a bit uncomfortable, and they are right. It's tight on my head for the first few minutes it's on, but I tend to not notice it after a few minutes. One benefit of the tightness, is it locks out all the ambient noise so I only hear the caller.

I purchased this headset to do a semi-professional podcast, after having to return a Logitech ClearChat Pro headset that was terribly unacceptable. This Plantronics set does not suffer from the loud HUMMMMM produced by the Logitech ClearChat set but like the ClearChat the Plantronics mic is hypersensitive and its picks up every background noise in the universe. Additionally the mic on this headset is so "hot" when used on my iMac that I have to set the audio input to about 5% in Garageband. Even then it tends to pick up background sounds. This headset my work fine for VoIP/Skype calls but it is not satisfactory for creating broadcasts. In addition the headset is uncomfortable. It fits on top of the ears and causes pressure point pain in just a short period of time.

Great sound quality.I love the way you cam mute it by moving the mic.BUT, It is tiring to wear more than 10 minutes. Also it blocks out sound so if you are using these as a phone or communication device, I would recommend a one-eared headset.Great for listening to music, though too uncomfortable on the ears.

Thus far I am quite happy with this headset; it provides clear sound, consistency of performance, and a great middle-ground of noise-reduction which blocks out my grandmother's television (quite loud)-- but still allows me to have a conversation with someone in the same room. It helps provide a gaming and chat experience which is immersive-- but not overly so.The construction is sturdy, with padding at the crown of the head to provide for a better fit. What I found to be surprising is that this headset is conducive to a smaller head, which I had yet to track down for my gaming needs. I can unequivacobly state that this is a quality headset.

The item works as expected and the headphone speakers are clear. The microphone is also above average. I find the headset uncomfortable, though. The ear cups are too big to be on-the-ear headphones and too small to be over-the-ear headphones. One additional thing to consider with USB headphones is that you sometimes need to restart software after plugging them in or unplugging them from your computer, which is not a big deal. I use this set with Dragon Naturally Speaking 10 and Skype, and it works well with both.

We ordered three of these for use in our office. Turns out they are not compatible with Macintosh computers, because Macs lack a microphone input jack (the line-in jack does not amplify the signal enough). For a while I was fooled into thinking they were working, but I realized that Skype was just using the Mac's built-in mic instead. (forehead slap)Incompatibility with Mac would have been nice to know before buying, Amazon. [...] Although to be fair it's not just this model, apparently USB headsets are the only kind that will work on a Mac.Otherwise, the ergonomics seem fine for this price range. Audio quality through headphones seems quite good, inline headphone volume and microphone sensitivity/mute settings is nice (with shirt clip). Wish we could keep them.

The title says it all. The sound quality is great, but for me I can't where them for over a few minute without them hurting my ears. No matter what I do to adjust them I can't find a way to live with them. I try never to use this set of earphones and now use my "traveling set" of folding plantronics all the time without a noticeable decrease in sound quality. The microphone on this headset is good. Possibly too good. It's way too sensitive to noise. It will pick up ever single background noise. It will pick up and transmit your breathing. It has no filter on the mic to soften your pops (P's are very hard letters and tend to pop loudly when you say them). If the sensitivity could be turned down quite a bit, and had they included a couple pop filters, this product would be perfect. As it stands, the people you are talking to are going to pick up every little annoying sound you have. And good luck trying to find a pop filter to cover this mic. If they exist for sell somewhere, I would love to know where.

The headset works well and is reasonably comfortable, however the USB plug broke off when I pulled away from my computer. The USB plug for the headset is soldered directly to a circuit board, which is where the break occurred. It would be nice if the circuitry was moved to the headset itself, or at least better strain relief was utilized.

i was concerned about getting a headset to use for voip that wasnt too expensive but would provide good quality and this fit the bill perfectly. in my experience plantronics makes good quality dependable headsets and im glad i went with this one here.

THE HEADSET OFFERS GOOD SOUND QUALITY BUT AFTER USING IT FOR ABOUT 30 MIN'S IT STARTS TO HURT MY HEAD - FITS TOO TIGHT ON THE EARSNEXT TIME I WOULD TRY A PRODUCT ON FIRST IN A STORE THEN DECIDE IF I WANT TO PURCHASE.TOO MUSH OF A HASSLE TO RETURN THESE. I bought this at Best Buy because I had a gift card and I need a replacement headset right away. It was at least $10-15 more, but I bought it back in the summer. So the Amazon price may have been the same then.If you don't like a bulky headset, this isn't for you. If you travel a lot, you might want a folding model for more portability.That being said, this is great for home/office use. I bought mine to use with Skype, and for some internet radio, [...]. The control are easy to use; it's plug and play, and the USB cable length is generous, although I some may say it's not long enough.It's well worth the money, especially Amazon has it for less.

Pros: Plug and play software is good and works almost instantly. This product is decent because it's exactly what I needed and works perfect.Cons: The headset in an on-ear headset. So unless you have tiny ears it will kinda sit on top of your ears a little bit (it might hurt after a while), and it is a little shaky. As in it shouldn't be abused or it might break, but if you're a normal human being who respects things he/she buys then you should be good.

I purchased this product based on past experience with Plantronics products. Yet again they come through with a great product for the cost. I knew going into the purchase that I wasn't getting a high end pair of headphones or a studio quality microphone. The quality of sound is high enough I wish my mp3 player had a USB port to hook them to. I did a quick recording with the microphone and there was no background noise picked up, yet my voice was crystal clear.Well worth the 30 dollars if you are looking for a good headset on a budget.

I've tried logitech's comparably priced set and these have them beat by a mile. A little on the flimsy side of sturdy and 100% plastic but for less than $30 I challenge you to find a better set. I recommend them all the time. I've seen much worse quality headsets for more money. Excellent entry-level product. Nice job Plantronics!

If it wasn't for the slightly uncomfortable fit, these would be awesome headphones. It seems like they are slanted back a little too much. I only wear them for 30 to 60 minutes at a time to prepare training presentations.The sound and record quality is awesome. This more than makes up for the less than stellar fit. Having a USB headphone is far superior to any of the speaker jack headphones that I previously used.

I used to have a bluetooth headset to chat with my friends and teammates through the playstation network but it hurt my ears, its battery drained up with each gaming session and the sound was really really lacking. That why I searched for a USB headset and was recomended this brand plantronics.Now I dont have to worry about those 3 problemas. The build is high quality, the sound is excellent and its so easy to use: just plug it in and the OS will recognize it as an audio device. If you are looking for an economic gaming headset solution, look no further.

Provides decent quality sound through USB. Comfortable to wear for long gaming periods, although ears can be expected to get warm and/or sweaty. The retractable boom mic is a great feature and it provides good quality noise cancellation. I have not had the mic pick up background sounds and noises at all. USB plug-and-play makes this very easy to use.

This headset doesn't have a single flaw. I'd mention it's a little tight on my head, but I happen to have a big dome =(. The bass output is unbelievable. Sturdy construction. Microphone reception is clear and it cancels background noise. Six stars.

I use this headset on Skype to talk to friends and family. The sound is very clear and blocks off any surrounding sounds. When I'm not using it, my kids use it for their computer games. It is very easy to use and serves my purpose well.

I bought two, for Christmas presents, for me and my wife. We love them. They are great for music, skype, and Rosetta Stone. They work fine and install right out of the hard to open plastic shell container. Great product. Haven't tried voip yet.

Bought this to record audio and for online conversations. Used it for a month and then I started getting reports of bad buzzing from others. Also started hearing buzzing on recordings. A call to Plantronics support yielded that an offer for an exchange. The catch being that I needed to ship my now 2 month old product to them on my dime. This is terrible considering I just paid them for the product and it stopped working after only a month. Poor quality control and policy it seems. Expected much better from such a dominant player in the space.

Got this to make SIP calls. Works fantastic. Especially with the feature that swinging the boom up mutes the mic. Want to listen to music? No thanks. Very muddy sound.

First, it came shipped encased in carbonite. Seriously, you cannot open this with scissors alone, you need specialized cutting tools.Second, IT DIDN'T WORK. Yes, it was dead on arrival. I can't comment on a working version of this product, it might be nice, but by buying this you are definitely gambling your money. It might not work at all.

This Plantronics headphone and microphone is not only comfortable to wear, but the sound quality from the headphones are amazing! I was also told that the microphone is so clear that I sound as if I am right in the room.Can't beat that type of quality!

Couldn't believe the voice quality while using our VOIP system. Easy to keep on for calls. Swing boom mic is great. It does block out most back ground noise, but not all.

Great headset for sound quality! Volume was great for hearing people on internet phone usage, and they could hear me great too. Music sounded great too. Just the headset was too heavy for all day use. It hurt my ears. Put too much pressure on my glasses. Better for a larger head maybe or if you don't wear glasses.
