So far I've played Twilight Princess, Wario-Ware, Sonic and the Secret Rings, and Super Paper Mario (and Wii Sports, Duh).
-I've had a blast with all of them.
-There's so many great titles in the que that my biggest problem will be affording everything that looks cool.
-It's cheaper by a head than the other two competitors.
-It's got those great Nintendo titles, and its success hopes for good third party support.
-The virtual console--and other Wi-Fi internet features--are great too.
Those are a few of the pros.
The cons for the system:
-No Hi-Def Support and Sub-par graphics (would it have killed Nintendo to give the gpu some anti-aliasing??) 480p looks downright nasty sometimes.
-So far alot of the third party games are crap.
-And of course, you can't seem to find the dang thing anywhere; I had to jump through many a hoop to get mine.
Final verdict: If you can find one, get one. The Wii has already given me all the zany postmodern fun that videos games should provide.
Kudos to Nintendo for the clever R&D and marketing on this guy. Now they just need to fix the supply problem.

Those 2 mistakes ended any idea of parting with the unit on eBay - at any price.
There are lots of good reviews of these systems on gamespot and IGN. If you are trying to decide whether to get a console and which one that is largely a matter of taste. For us - we like party games, both with sober family or the occasional inebriated friends. I've tried playing golf with non-gamers before and it has never been much success - you know "push up then down then back up and press these buttons" etc falls on deaf ears.
There is nothing to "teach" on how to play the Wii. My dad who, never plays videogames but likes to go bowling is a great example. He normally scores around 220 in real life. The first and only time he bowled on the Wii (it was a short visit) he scored a 217. That was higher than any of the rest of us scored - and in real life hah hah that is about right. So if that is any measure of how well the controller works, you have to conclude it works great.
If you are lucky enough to score a Wii - pick up Raymin Rabbids with it too. The party games are awesome. Can't really explain why they are so much fun since they are borderline ridiculous - never-the-less my wife can't stop playing and the rail-hunt shooting rabbits with toilet plungers has yet to grow old.

I'm usually against camping out.. but for some reason decided it was worth it. I'm glad i proved myself right. 6 1/2 hours at the local target did it. Took this baby home and after a nap and shower.. we were ready to go.
I love it. It's fun, innovative and unlike anything else. The controls are comfortable once you get past the initial shock. The system and all the games I bought (5) plus extra controller and nunchuck... are still cheaper then what I've spent thus far on my Xbox360. I'm definitely a happy "camper". This sleek little baby will definitely be loved and nurtured ;)
I have to say though.. as far a the lazy video gamer stereotype goes.. this broke that i truly believe.. I've been playing wii sports and Rayman for a few hours and my arms are tired.. haha. And yes this is a family item. My dad who last played video games when PAcMan, centipede and pong were in actually took an interest. We taught him how to bowl and play golf.. he had a blast as did my technologically impaired mom. And within a few weeks... nintendo plans to have 62 titles for our selection.. who could ask for more? REally the selection out now is relatively good and broad and plentiful compared to the launches of late and even the last gen of these consoles.
I'm happy and definitely would do it all over again. Nintendo seems to be making a decent effort to satisfy demand. i dont think you all will have to wait that long to get your hands on this...
And to all those @ the Clifton, NJ Target...... ENJOY!!!!!

And those same controls have already sucked in several family members who wouldn't otherwise dream of playing a video game. But they all love the Wii.
Definitely, there's been a dearth of decent games (particularly those that really take good advantage of the controller). But there have been enough to tide me and my Wii-lovin' 5-year-old over until we get some goodies later this year. My X-mas list is already locked in at a single item: Guitar Hero 3.
If you've got a family, or if you're just tired of the same-old-same-old in console gaming, get yourself a Wii. You won't regret it.

After researching, we realized that all the FEATURED MERCHANTS have superior feedback ratings compared to the regular third party merchants. This listing had those FEATURED MERCHANTS whereas some other Wii listings were lacking them. What we saw was that the FEATURED MERCHANTS were all listed in them and had consistent pricing. That made us more comfortable with our purchase (after reading their feedbacks).
We LOVE our Wii. The order was completed and sent within two days. Seemless ordering. Wii Sports is great fun alone or with as a pair in competitive tennis. We build up a good sweat from it playing each other.
We forgot to get an extra remote so we ran out to Target to get one (had to go to two of them since we couldn't find those either!) and we picked up Mario Party for guests to action play and Zelda for the DH.
Never thought we'd buy a gaming center for ourselves instead of the children!

I then decided to try the Wii. It was hard to get - I had to wait in line before the store opened - I felt weird having to do this. I purchased the Wii and went home to set it up.
Boy was I surprised. I was blown away. What a fantastic idea. The Wii Sports was terrific. I played for several hours and was in amazement. The graphics are not as good as the PS3, but while you're playing it doesn't matter (if you have an HD TV get a component?/composite? (whichever the better one is) cable for a much improved picture). The whole experience is very immersive.
I haven't played many games, but the ones I have so far have been great. The ability to browse the internet, get weather, and get news are a nice bonus. I look forward to future offerings.
I am very happy with my decision. Be sure to pick up an extra remote or two because playing with other people is a blast. Nintendo has a huge hit on its hands with the Wii. For about $250 it is very reasonable and a great way to add some fun into your life. Everyone is busy and this a great way to take some time to have fun alone or with others. I don't think it will get old as new and more imagine games come along.

Although the system doesn't support high end resolution screens and use high end graphic processors, who cares. The idea here hits the nail on the head - develop a moderately priced video gaming system that gives players a rich, engaging experience. It's the handheld controllers that gives the Wii the interactive experience that makes playing games on the system so fun.
Not only that, but the system is backwards compatible with previous consoles. Imagine being able to run NES, TurboGrafix, Nintendo 64, and GameCube games. All those old game cartridges, memory blocks and controllers can still be used. You can also get the Wii wired to the Internet. Simply set your Wii's wireless settings to tap into your wireless router. There, you can go shopping for Nintendo games from the past. Although the selection is small, new games will be added (and yes those that I did purchase did run).
So what's so great about the Wii? Its in the controllers. The wireless Wii remote and the nunchuck take gaming to a new level. Being able to gesture in a more natural way makes the gaming experience so lifelike and real. For example, box like you box, swing the golf club like a hack and even bowl like you normally do. The 3d spatial interpretation of the controller's position really makes this unit so unique.
I was pretty lucky to get a new Wii and I'm sure they are still hard to get this Xmas. For those dying to get one when they come in stock, get it because its a heck of a lot of fun and well worth the price!

I'm a 29 year old man who grew up with my Nintendo. The ability to play those games on which I wasted hours in my youth was one of the key to making this decision as a game system instead of the xBox 360 or the PS3. I may be supplementing my gaming systems with the PS3 or xBox 360 in the next year or so, but right now, the Wii is more than enough to keep me happy.

I was lucky to get a Wii at a local EB Games.(last piece in the shipment)
I gave it to my son as his birthday gift.
The whole family enjoyed it so much. Buyer satisfaction index is way high!
My whole body ached for 3 days after over 9 hours of play in the first day.
My wife also has not exercised so much in her entire life--the bowling, tennis, baseball.... man, is it fun!
My daughter and son both go to a small Christian academy and they just couldn't stop sharing with their friends how much fun this game is.
I sit behind them and watch them play hour after hour and cheered them when they did well, and encouraged them when defeated. This game not only burns calories but boosted family cohesion exponentially.
I see so many positive things with the Wii and the sports game included in the system.
If you value family time, this is the thing to get.
It's compact, it's reliable. After using it for over 9 hours the first day, no problems and not even feeling hot on the unit. Considering the PS3 and the Xbox 360 (i have the Xbox), all needs some kind of external cooling unit if you play extensively, it gets really hot.
On the downside, even though the Wii remote are very durable and strong, they are a bit too expensive ($40 a piece) and all the stores are still out of stock!
Highly recommended and worthwhile to put a deposit in the store to pre-order it.
Nintendo, way to go!

It got here with enough time before Christmas to not be worried about Chistmas morning.
Thank you.

Games range from $5-$10 and are fairly priced.
So while the selection of actual good Wii titles is slim (mario galaxy, resident evil), there is a horde of good and fun games available via the virtual console!
I bought the wii for the virtual console so I could play the original Castlevanias, the original zeldas, as well as the original shining force. It's soooo worth it!

For a while it was tuff to get the family to understand the Xbox or the playstation with its "tuff for non-gamer" controls but the wii, its above easy to pick it, it almost comes natural.
Zelda was the next game to try and WOW I loved every second of it, from fishing to riding a horse, it was amazing. My inner child was screaming out loud. Next was red steal and that was great. It took some getting use to never have I played a first person shooter like that but never the less it was great. After that I played some Dragon Ball Z Tenkaichi 2, and it was completely reshaped for the wii. You play as it was a boxing game and the other player is in front of you, which one feature I found great was to do some of the moves you act them out with the controller which was very very sweet. Last thing I tried was putting in Super Smash Bros Melee which I picked up from Wal-Mart very cheap with some game cube controllers and a memory card. I popped it and kicked some but with my Mario.
To sum up this, its all about the Fun factor for me, and the wii delvers.
