Next generation consoles are Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 (in which PlayStation 3 60GB is better)So please stop buying this console in such expensive prices and you will see that they will drop it to the original price "250 dollars" or if you have somebody that is overseas, and I am pretty sure you do, tell them to send you one, it cost only 40 dollars to send it with insurance and everything. I'll do it for 20 bucks, jajaja.Thank you for reading this and take care.

However, the Wii complements the gaming rig nicely given the controls and interface. Naturally, the graphics are 2 generations behind in complexity, but this is more than made up for by the fun factor of the games.
Also, if you are trying to get someone that isn't into video games to start playing, this is your gateway drug. It certainly isn't Crysis, WoW or Halo3 which probably would reinforce the negative aspects of video gaming to those that might be coming in with a negative vibe. The reason is that the games are ridiculously simple. Wii baseball, for example only has pitching and batting, you don't have to deal with all the 'usual' complexity of fielding, base-stealing, substitutions and so on. You just swing the bat, that's it! Trust me, put that controller in their hand, load up Wii sports and watch the addiction start :)

The Wii is an entirely different gaming experience that the 360. In fact, it's unlike anything I've ever experienced thus far. For the most part, I play games like Gears of War, Crackdown, FEAR, etc. on my Xbox 360. These are games that take full advantage of the processing power of the Xbox - this is the 1080i stuff that just looks amazing on my XBR2. However, when I want to play something that's just plain fun. . . the Wii is fast and easy to use!
I know there are games like Madden '07 that are available on both systems, but the graphics aren't going to approach the same quality as that of the Xbox. So, that begs the question, why buy the Wii version? For the new type of game playing. . . motion detection in the Wii remote! The WAY you play the games can actually be more important than the raw processing power of the unit itself! Yeah! Sounds crazy, but it's true!
Nintendo certainly hit one out of the park with the Wii! There are some in-depth shooters for this system (Red Steel, COD3, Far Cry, etc.) and some more on the way (Metroid Prime 3 Corruption) as well as games that don't require as much involvement or commitment (Elebits, Smooth Moves, Ray Man, etc.). Either way, the Wii is a LOT of fun and the controllers aren't an issue for extended gaming periods.
I think a lot of people expected to be able to walk into stores and just pick up a Wii a few weeks after launch. The irony is that I've seen PS3s just collecting dust on shelves in Best Buy and Wal-Mart, while I've yet to see a Wii on the store shelves! Obviously Wii would like to play!

After much begging and pleading with friends, my boss in California (I live across the country) was able to snag one and ship it to me. It was a huge Christmas surprise and now my husband, my two children and I have all become addicted.
Our friends came up on New Years Eve and we spent all night playing with the system. Bowling was great, boxing was great, and baseball was a hit! We even enjoyed playing Wii Play. My friend's husband goes to a gym and says that he felt as though he got more of a workout that he enjoyed than he does at his expensive gym, so now they're looking into getting one.
The Wii is truly the best system Nintendo has designed yet. If you don't have one, try one. I guarantee you'll love it, especially if you have young children!

Wow. That's all I had to say after plugging the Wii in at my home on November 19th. After months of waiting, it is finally here, and for once, this game system actually met and possibly exceeded my expectations. Know before continuing that I'm not a Nintendo fanboy, I hated the Gamecube, own a PS2 and will be buying an Xbox 360. Well, after buying this, I don't know if i will be needing that 360.
The biggest thing about the Wii is it's new controller. Instead of the traditional two-handed gamepad with 2-4 buttons and some analog sticks, the Wii's input system is shaped like a TV remote control. It has a couple of buttons on it, but not nearly as many as the average controller. How can you play complex games with such a simple controller? The answer is motion control.
The Wii's controller has accelerometers inside of it, allowing it to sense when you wave, swing, punch, stab, or shake. It can also interact with a sensor bar placed on top of the television to make a pointer for the TV. For example, to select a menu option, you just point at the option with the remote and click the A button. This creates a whole new gaming experience. It's like one of those arcade games at the local mall, but it works better, and no more 25 cents per turn!
The remote is also very comfortable. For games that would need two analog sticks, such as shooters, there is a connectable perephial with an analog stick and two shoulder buttons, which is called the Nunchuk. In a shooting game, this would handle movement and the remote would handle the aiming. It takes a very short amount of time to get used to, but once you do, it is much more comfortable than the normal controller. You can spread your hands out instead of hunched up, holding your hands together.
The Wii Remote is functional, efficient, comfortable, and smart. It is so much better than controllers of the past, and I hope this is a sign of things to come from Nintendo.

I TRADED IN MY PS2 AND GAMES TO GET THIS SYSTEM. FINALLY THEY STARTED GETTING MORE WIIS IN ALL THE STORES SO I GOT ONE. I WAS SO EXCITED THAT I PLAYED IT FOR 8 HOURS NON STOP. BUT THEN FOR SOME REASON I JUST STOPPED. I WANNA PLAY IT AT THIS MOMENT BUT FOR SOME REASON IM JUST NOT. I STILL THINK YOU SHOULD GET IT THOUGH. ITS KINDA WORTH IT

The Nintendo Wii, as most everyone knows, is attempting to innovate the gaming industry with its revolutionary motion controller [the wiimote]. Most sites general reviews point out the main points of the innovative controller and weaker graphics. However after playing Zelda, a game designed for gamecube, I am not upset with the Wiis power at all. The graphics are amazing, and considering the game is designed on gamecube, it can only get better.
The wiimote is very intuitive on all games I have played, although a few of the Wii Sports had a small learning curve [I am looking at you Wii Golf]. After a while of playing it has become second nature and I cant even think of playing a game like Zelda on the gamecube.
This is also the first time I have had my parents play a video game with me.. in.. well, I cant remember the last time my parents played a video game, period. Within the first week i've already had 4 non-gamers play the wii and love it, and I plan on exposing more.
The wii also has several other features including WiiConnect24 which utilizes wifi or wireless internet [wifi usb adapters can be purchased if you dont have wireless and they work great, I am running one currently]. This system checks over the internet every 15-30 minutes for updates or messages and will alert you with a nifty blue light if you have one. You can be friends with people by exchanging a 16 digit friend code, and then you are connected. Other features inclue the Mii setting in which you make character representations of yourselfs to play in Wii Sports [hopefully more games coming soon]. These can also be sent to friends. On top of these, the wii also lets you purchase older nintendo games and sega games from $5-$10 to save on the console, and is also backwards complatable with the gamecube system and controllers.
Overall the wii is a great and innovative system with many games to come including Smash Brothers online (which will not utilize the wiimote, sadly), Pokemon Online, Mario Galaxies, Metroid, and more!

the game itself is good but not as good as the hype
Not really worth the cost

It's great for birthday parties, Thanksgiving, and other times you get together with friends. It just kind of draws a crowd.
There are also a lot of fun single player games as well such as Zelda, Paper Mario, Metroid, etc.
If you want a system for Group fun. We have both a Wii and a XBOX 360. The perfect combo for all range of games.
If I were to just have one though, it would be the Wii due to the fact I do not have the time to play a lot of video games and I usually play with friends when they come over. Though online play with friends is great with the XBOX 360, I'm more of the type of guy who enjoys seeing the face of the person I am beating at tennis.

I enjoy the activities with Wii Sports and Wii Play. I like the competition with my able-bodied family members as we each tabulate our Wii Age each day.
It even has a sense of humor. It calculated my Wii Age at 20 years (the best score possible) and I hooted so loudly. But, then there was movement on the screen and I noticed that my age was rocking back and forth. Then it fell off and I was really just 35 years old. This game console was trash-talking me! I will get there. Just wait and see.

The controller is not that good either, fun for a bit but no lasting power.

I understand now what was one of Nintendo's main goal in making this system. They wanted a REVOLUTION, not only in the way games were played, but also regarding WHO would play them: EVERYBODY. They wanted to make something where in everybody, from the 5 year old baby cousin to the 85 year old grandma to play and ENJOY this cool and wonderful system which gives you excercise as well! It attracts not only hardcore gamers but non gamers as well because when you play you are no longer simply smashing buttons - You are also physically DOING the actions you are perfomring on screen! So if you're shooting, you are actually aiming the controller on the TV screen and carefully marking your shot, almost like in real life!
Again, I was so amazed as this was my first time seeing my ENTIRE family all in one place playing TOGETHER a videogame. This is a day I will never forget. Just wait untill we get all four wiimotes - WHOA! What a heck of a fun day THAT would that be!
I highly recommend the Nintendo Wii for all gamers of all degress of all ages! Even if you already have another new next-gen system, what's another $250? Remember now, Wii also let's you download and play games from previous Nintendo systems (anyone up for Super Mario RPG for SNES or Golden Eye 007 for N64)! Just pick one up this bad baby and you've done yourself a favor. Seriously, people, you just won't believe it untill you play it. I'm sure glad I did!

As of right now (Early October 2007), there are still not quite enough Wii titles to draw lots of gamers, though its backwards-compatibility with the GameCube (over 90% of GameCube games will work with the Wii) and Virtual Console option (downloading games from previous Nintendo as well as Sega Genesis and TurboGrafx-16 platforms) does help that some right now.
Much more outside development will be needed to make this platform viable in the long term, but if developers can get a handle on integrating the motion-control features, this platform will be the class of its generation.
Indeed, if developers can truly harness the motion control technology, there is little way that it can be otherwise.
