When purchased new, the wii comes with all of items needed, like the AV cable, sensor bar, wii remote, and nunchuk. It also has a good game packaged already to boot: Wii Sports.
Non-gamers can enjoy playing compilations like Wii Sports or fun party games like Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz, while hard-core action gamers can look forward to swinging out the remote as a sword or gun in games such as Call of Duty 3, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Red Steel. Feeling itchy to to be drifting down the highway? try racing games like Excite Truck, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam, and Need for Speed Carbon to satisfy your needs. All of Wii's games uses the Wii remote's unique ability to sense movement. You can wield your remote like a steering wheel, a baseball bat, a tennis racket, a sword, a pool stick, basically anything!
It's also good fun to toy around with the many channels. You can pop in some of those old gamecube games and have a little fun, or even relive the old days by buying some of some of the Nintendo Classics like Super Mario Bros. or Metroid.
The Wii's Mii channel lets you create your own avatar or just some wacky person using many styles of heads, eyes, hair, noses, and even adjust height and weight! After creating a few, put them to good use in games like Wii Sports, Wii Play, or Wario Ware: Smooth Moves.
Feeling a little funny and have a digital camera? Pop in that SD card and mess with your photos and every which way possible, making color changes, different perspectives, or just doodling a mustache on Uncle Jim.
Those of you who have Opera Connection can hook up to the internet and browse there straight from your wii, with free setup until this June!
I hope i've showed you just how great this console can be. If you're lucky enough to find one, get it for the family. It's a lot cheaper then PS3 or the Xbox360, and you will be 100% satisfied, guarunteed.

This is an extremely hard question that has no definate answer. Out of the three new-generation systems which one will you purchase? First of all let me say that it really comes down to your personal preferences. What kind of game do u like? Things like that. Welllll...
The main reasons that i would choose the Wii out of the other two are these as follows.
1. I'm not allowed to play mature games. For the many kids out there who are not allowed, i would personally think that the ps3 and the 360 may not be the best choice. Pretty much all the games worth playing on them so far are rated M. Yes, there are a few sports game, but that alone, I believe, is not worth the 400 dollars you will have to dish out.
2. Price: $250, this alone is a good reason. It is much cheaper than the Xbox 360 Premium Edition (the only edition worth getting). And as you guessed it completely and utterly destroys the PS3 price.
3. Backwards Compatibility: Any Nintedo fans out there will love this. You can download games on to the wii from Nintendo systems dating all the way back to the NES. NES SNES N64 and Gamecube titles will all be available.
4. Controllers: The next generation motion sensoring device we know as a controller. This is really something you have to try to understand. It is so simple that 4 year olds could play it. Buty yet it has enough features especially with the Nunchuck to challenge the experienced gamer. This is the biggest reason the Wii wins in my opinion. Playing=Believing
Okay, now your wondering,"There has to be something wrong!" Well your right. Although very few and minor, here are the flaws
Graphics: Although the graphics are awe-inspiring at 480p, they are not even close in my opinion to the graphics of the PS3 and the Xbox 360 at 1080i. But don't let this bother you as it used to me. Believe me after you play the Wii at your local game store, the last thing in your mind will be graphics. You will be to happy with gameplay.
Closing comments:
Do yourself a favor kids and get the Wii. You will not be dissapointed. And i used to be a doubter too. Untillll i played it. So, happy gaming until then. I hope my review has been helpful.
Peace out

It plays the gamecube games very well. We've bought as many of those as Wii games, probably. You will need gamecube controllers and a gamecub memory card to make that work.
I haven't tried the virtual console games, though it looks simple to setup. You will probably want to get gamecube or the "classic" controller for some of them, as the Wii remote won't work for all of them (just not enough buttons in the right places.)
We have had one issue arise. Our Wii stopped pulling the discs inat one point, and we suspect perhaps the toddler decided to put a few DVDs in at once, so keep this out of very young children's hands. On the bright side, Nintendo was very good to work with about a replacement. The customer service department seemed very helpful and the whole process was very painless, except for having to do without the Wii while the new one got here.
Overall the Wii has been even more fun than I expected. Everyone that has played it has thoroughly enjoyed it.

The system itself has a cool and sleek design and I love it. The control is a gimmick and you will more than likely get tired of it very fast. I bought a Classic Controller to play the games I downloaded on the virtual console. I highly suggest you do the same. Even games like Resident Evil 4 can be played with the Classic Controller.
The biggest problem with the Wii is the games that are available for it. They are, for the most part, just bad. I mean awful. The only games I found that appealed to me were Resident Evil 4 and I am waiting on Super Mario Galaxy because I love Mario. There's a couple more titles like Zelda and Metroid and Super Smash Bros. that you may like but they're not for me. No Final Fantasy or anything else good here...sorry.
Overall I would suggest buying one only for regular price. Please do not overpay for an overhyped video game machine. Be aware of the greedy nerds at all costs.

In a nutshell: the fun is top-notch; the games are still to arrive (as of october 2007)

At a price point far below the other next-gen systems out there, with features that make it unique from any other system, I highly recommend the Wii as a system that the entire family can easily use and enjoy.

after the 1st two nights of playing the baseball game that comes with it my muscles were sore and it felt as if i had been working out for a week. this is not to say a lot of the games are a workout you can sit down for quite a few, somewhat defeating the purpose behind the system. the ability to buy the wii points through the system is a great idea ensuring you dont have to run to the store if you want to get a classic game.
for the most part a lot of classic games are on the and they keep adding new ones everyday. ive downloaded supermario bros3 and it only took about 5 minutes to download and it works perfectly, you can even use the start-select trick.

The Wii is the console that you sit down and play with the family. Even those with little or no gaming experience can enjoy the Wii, with it's awesome multiplayer capabilities, and the Wiimote is just an extension of your arm that controls the game. You feel like you're in the game, and thats what makes this console the most intersting. Xbox has it's games, PS3 has it's Blu-ray and stunning graphics, but the Wii really shines in playability. You want to play the Wii, and games like Wii sports really gets everyone involved.
Overall, I think that anybody would not be disappointed getting the Wii, but the only problem with ordering off amazon, is that the versions they're selling actually cost more than the 80g PS3 bundle. Just go to Walmart and get it.

I have a feeling all those negative reviews are from individuals being paid by Billy Gates, since in every single field that Microsoft it's involved shows lack of creativity, to put together a box with top of the line video cards, it's not new, you are just taking advantage of today's standars, while the Wii have change the enjoyment of playing this totally replace board games, something it was hard to from the collective experience, i don't need top of the line graphics to have fun, and the quality of the games is totally up to the developers, the potential of the Wii rest on that, if you want a shooting experience looking at pretty pictures buy the Xbox, if you want to have fun and share a good time with family and friends or by yourself get a Wii.

Do we have fun now when we visit her. In the past there were many times when I didn't really know what to talk about. The Wii has sure changed that. And Mom is hooked. She has played until as late as 2 A.M. on more than one occasion. And we made Wii people to represent her, my grandson and myself. When we are not there she will play and call me up laughing and say that it is hilareous to see me and my grandson watching her play from the stands.
This game has brought us a lot of fun and has improved our communication because we really have something to talk about now. This game is great family entertainment that includes everyone that can hold the control in one hand regardless of their age. And it also closes the generation gap.

I truly didn't know how much fun just making mii's were going to be and wiisports is easily a game that would make money if it was sold alone.
While the graphics aren't that of the ps3 and xbox360, it has fun games to make up for that. I'm impressed with what Nintendo is doing and I was one who was put off my them for many years and it's great to see the system getting some games that will be remembered way down the road.

Conclusion: It's not a perfect system, but I can honestly say it DOES live up to alot of the hype, and well worth the purchase price for a novice or hardcore gamer.
Positives: Crowd pleaser at party, player feels more "into" the game, Opera net browser works well... not perfect but well and is free (till June), downloadable games for fee, free download of a wii survey channel, Gamecube games controller and mem card compatibility, built-in wireless works well, small footprint and convinence of wireless controller out of the box, Decent free game included (no one does thing anymore), free Wii weather channel is a neat idea that still needs work (data is a bit outdated).
Negatives: NO DVD movie support (rumored to be included on future versions), wirless keyboard a MUST option for net surfing (but not available as of yet), Downloadable video game library is extremely limited, wired ethernet connection addition accessory, Wii points system can burn you (extra points are often times wasted becuase of varies in price and limiting the purchase amounts), Game library still need much more growth, limited availability of consoles

With that said the Nintendo Wii is everything it is supposed to be, a fun for all gaming system. Though the graphics are similar to that of the Game cube the Nintendo Wii brings family fun and friends closer together. You may not be able to play your precious Halo 3 on it, but to see your wife bouncing around the room trying to pull off some of the Wario Ware mini-game moves is more than worth the price of the console.
Another great thing about this console is the ability to download old favorites right to the system and have them to play whenever you want, no need to dig through the attic to find that old copy of Mario 64!!
I say Nintendo delivered on their promise of a console that is both fun and great at bringing friends and family together.
