This is a console like no other. We all have busy working and family styles and its no different anymore in this part of the world either. The best thing I like about the pre-tense of this platform is its non-hard-core-gaming affinity for the never really played games crowed category; or complex gaming systems that would drive any new comer to gaming insanity.
I like the simplicity of the game that is included with the machine: WII SPORTS! Ii had my share of hard core gaming on the PC and PS2. However when I try to play these high end games, I honestly do not have the time or willingness to finish them. The one game I am absolutely looking forward to is Star Wars unleashed! Which is coming sometime next year I think
Anyhow, fantastic gaming console. Its for anyone new to gaming or reborn into video gaming. Has that old arcade feel to it; especially the simpler games. Fun for all the family.

My 70 year old mother loves to play as much as my 10 year old daughter!!

This remote shows ingenuity, but is not as impressive as one would think. It doesn't seem that the Wii Remote senses true 3d motion. What is meant by that (Check my Amazon profile because I discuss it on my website.) is when you swing it doesn't record the 3d position of your arm, instead it just records the swing as a slash motion in most games. That is so that when you swing you sword in Zelda: Twilight Princess the character (Link) just swings his sword. It is not like you are involved in a 3d sword battle. FPS shooters are another area where a standard controller is needed. It is too difficult to navigate the area.
The system does has its strengths. It is the best system for kids. It is the cheapest system. And Nintendo is known for making some of the best games. But for sports, online, and FPS games the X-box 360 is the better choice.

The idea and execution of the Wii is simply amazing. I never got into video games, because hitting buttons on a controller and just sitting there is boring to me. The Wii solves this for me and is a great way to both get exercise and play a game. Being physically active is a big part of my life, and this is a way to bridge both exercise and fun. Brilliant!
The sports games that come with the Wii are cartoony and get old after a while, but they are meant to show game developers what can be done. For instance, there is a Brunswick bowling game that is more difficult and is photorealistic than the bowling game that comes with the Wii.
I'm just waiting for them to have controllers that you strap to your wrists and ankles...

1) Price is VERY reasonable. I like to think of it as a suped up GC - with all of the add on features I never got (ethernet ,etc).
2) Remotes ARE AWESOME. Intiutive - and makes you THINK about the possibilites. Exercise using the WII!!!
3) Can use previous GC accessories -Thanks for the $$$ saving. Why would you redesign "yet another joystick controller" for the sake of it (or a memory card? - Speed and size - not as important - wireless way more important). INVENT and focus on breaking new ground. Again Nintendo nailed it.
4) Easy to setup. Wirelessly connected in minutes. Registered and online shopping in minutes. About 10 games to download at launch. This was COMPLETE thinking on Nintendo's part.
5) You create yourself as Mii and they get to meet people in plaza online - friends etc. It's like IM - but better packaged and really fun.
6) Nice clean sleek package to play all the previous classic nintendo games, etc. (gc,n64,supernes,nintendo,tg16 - I have all of those bulky systems and now I can time capsule them - without losing the opportunity to play the best games of those systems). Imagine the demand for GOLDENEYE and the forums that will allow you to ask for each and every game to download. Nintendo is genuis ($$$) and while they are out to make a buck - they really make you think its ALL about the gameplay with this system. PS3 will have horsepower and a boatload of features- but ultimately you need GOOD games and INGENUITY. REALLY happy with my purchase.
So ONE "I hope they improve":
1) Sensor bar - I want a longer cord. I also want the bar to allow for a movie screen between the sensors and the remotes. Also, an ability to move the sensor around (and adjust the game setup to account for where its located -like a projector). I imagine they will get an accesory for this.
Go get one! Now...the moment is here.. I'm off to try Zelda...

What can I say.... this is.. GREAT.
"But you only gave it 4 Stars!", you may be saying (or maybe not).
Well, yeah, I did. There are some issues, particularly with the Wiimote... it seems a little... touchy. And this MAY be user error, or may require another firmware update. Honestly, if I could, I'd give it **** 1/2 or **** 3/4. But without playing any other games, I can't give just the console itself a solid ***** rating... yet. :-)
One thing I can say regarding the Wiimote and Sensor bar: Experiment. Find what works. I may still have some more playing to do before I can get it just right.
Another minor letdown is the UI. I consider myself fairly intuitive with user interfaces, and there were a few spots that had me scratching my head. Nothing major, but I'd like to see this cleaned up in a later release of the firmware.
The console itself is physically stunning... I'm serious. This machine is a beautiful, elegant example of engineering. The Wiimote and Nunchuck are virtually weightless. I barely felt they were there. The console itself is beautiful. Much better looking than the PS3.
As I said, the only game I've played so far is Wii Sports... it's the perfect pack in for the Wii. The only word to describe this game is "FUN!" I've played through all the games, and the Tennis and boxing games are my favorites. Bowling's kinda lame, and golf is okay. Baseball is fun too. Overall, a great package. I know they say you can sit on the couch and make small movements, but... no... GET UP AND MOVE! :-)
Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, and I highly recommend picking one up. I've also got Zelda, Rayman, Trauma Center, and Super Monkey Ball to go through, and I will review those as well.

I have about 20 games to date and my whole family enjoys each and every one of them (ok, I like the first person shooters and they like Wii Sports) in one way or another. Watching this system in action keeps us all entertained!
The WIImote is revolutionary! No wires to tie you down!
The graphics are perfectly fine because once you get into the gaming experience they take a back seat to the controller.
My parents are in their 60's and were up till 3AM playing the WII!!!
Does anybody else's gaming system entice grandparents to stay up till 3AM? Doubtful...
The hardcore gamer who is accustomed to his 700 dollar graphics card/cards in his gaming hotbox will scoff at the WII. Rightly so!
As for me and my family, we prefer to have the whole family enjoy the system even if it keeps us up till 3AM!

After a brief tutorial, the controller feels very natural and the innovative design truly allows you to feel like you are more in "control" of what your on-screen character is doing. My wife picked up on it right away as did I and now I don't know who is more addicted, her or I!!!
Upon first contact with the system you will notice how small and surprisingly heavy the system is. But after all, they packed a truly remarkable system into a small form factor that takes up very little space and looks very curious compared to other pricier and bulky systems.
The price was great for the system, the games seem very decently priced and of course I am psyched because I got the one thing that I wanted for Christmas already. Now I can drive by and smile at all the little fanboys twiddling their thumbs and waiting impatiently in line for a ridiculously overpriced PS3 which has VERY LITTLE AVAILABILITY and in my non-expert opinion will not likely achieve the ability to compete against the big N's remarkable offering to the current console wars.
Oh yeah, a bit of advice, grab any extra controllers you might find in the stores because we had to search extensively to find an extra controller that wasn't being sold for 3 times the amount you'd expect to pay at a retailer.
One word to sum up the WII: Awesome!!!

GREAT GREAT GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and took it to my fiance's families' dinner parties and it was a huge hit! I hooked it up a few hours before the thanksgiving feast and her parents saw it. They were so impressed they were actually eager to try it. We played some Wii tennis, bowling, and a few holes of golf (golf was FUN can you believe it?).
At the actual dinner when the guests came, my fiance's mom actually asked me to show the guests the Wii--and then they all got into it too! It was crazy, never seen this many 50 yr-olds playing video games--probably because it's not like traditional video games. One of the guests said "This is incredible! This is too much fun!" and later he went to my fiance and told her that she has to take the Wii away from me otherwise she will never see me again.
Two days later, we tried it out at my fiance's aunt's house with her mother's side of the family. Again, her mom brought up the Wii and I hooked it up and everyone was watching or playing. Even her 9 yr-old cousin tried it and she wouldn't put it down when everyone was leaving--she was as good at the game as anyone else--Wii is this easy to use--only takes couple of tries to learn how to play. 4 player tennis and bowling action! Baseball was fun too, but only 2 players.
I mean I knew it was going to be fun for ME, but wasn't expecting it to be a huge hit across all ages. Making Miis is one of the most fun aspects of the Wii. You can make virtual avatars to use in Mii compatible games such as Wii Sports. I specialize in politicians and celebrities, including Dubya, Cheney, Hilary, Kerry, Saddam, Kim Jung Il, Michael Jackson, various Star Trek characters, etc. It's very amusing to use these fun avatars in your games: imagine tennis matches of Dubya and Cheney vs Saddam and Kim Jung Il.
[...].

My brother and I love to do boxing on the Wii Sports in which it comes with. I K.O.'d him 3 times in a row! It's a workout too! I find myself sweating after a couple of rounds, and, no, it's not just hot where I live.
Tennis is the next best sports to play. Then Bowling, Baseball, and Golf, in that order (in my opinion that is).
Check out the information on Wikipedia. It will give you tons of information about this most popular system. Just look at the sales compared to the PS3! Have you ever noticed there are always PS3's sitting on the shelf but never a Wii? That goes to show how popular it is.
Graphics: B+
Gameplay: A+++++++++++++++(this could go awhile)++++++
Multiplayer: A++
Fun: (Too much to put)
In closing, GET ONE IF YOU WANT!!!
I got mine at ShopKo for $250! They are an excellent supplier of Wii's
