I love this camera. It has a really great view that for the most part is really clear. The only part that I would change about this camera is that it had a rechargeable battery and that when you were zoomed in all of the way inside the picture wasn't a little blurry and yellow.

The zoom is impressive although you cant easily do a smooth zoom in or zoom out. For catching pictures of the kids and pets this camera is where its at.

This camera is very versatile and takes remarkable pictures easily on automatic settings. I've barely cracked the surface of everything it can do but I have tried the special effects and they are impressive. I use the 8 mpxl setting and have found it to be more than adequate for photo-shop and e-mailing. Camera has everything you need to begin immediately and I took several difficult night shots with street lamps in the background and no question, this is a terrific CMOS sensor. Went to a Bar-B-Que and found the camera takes all kinds of lighting shots and the colors are vivid. By the way, the "red" body drew attention for being very up-to-date. The only issue is the dreaded lens cap problem where-in the cap sits on the body and snaps in. While secure, it must be removed before operating the camera or the lens telescopes into it upon operation and could jam eventually. All-in-all, I expect years of great photos and good memories with this Nikon. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a better quality automatic point and shoot in an SLR format.

Surprised with this camera. First, it feels cheaply made when you pick it up. Second, this camera must of been made for a girl or someone with very small hands. Almost impossible with my hands, (fairly large hands) to get a feel for this camera. The feel of plastic in this camera, out-ways all the positive items of this camera. I gave the camera to my niece.

Wish that the battery life was longer in this camera. Did not realize that it took 4 AAA batteries. Had I realized that I would not have bought it. The life of the battery lasts through about 50 pictures and maybe 1 video that is about 10 minutes long.

Bought this for my husband but didn't want to spend a fortune so I bought it refurbished. Well, it is perfect! Works great! We have a lot of wildlife around our home and this gets every detail of them. You can even see the distinct strands of fur and the whiskers on the deer. I read that it pays to buy refurbished because it's usually a problem with the packaging or a small problem that can be fixed easily. Second refurbished product I bought and would definitely buy another. My husband can't praise this camera enough. He is so happy with it.

I bought this camera for a trip I was planing to the patagonia. I tried it before I left just in case and it worked perfectly. A day after I got there, it went crazy. It took ages to take just 1 picture and eventually when I came back, none of the pictures I took were in the sd card. I lost everything. Someone told me it might've been because of the cold, but it wasn't that terrible. Now Im back home and it works perfectly again, but I no longer need it. So basically... good luck.

Fabulous! This is the camera I have been looking for! I have an online shop and it is necessary to take clear, sharp photos so that anything I'm selling looks just as good online as it does in person. I still need to learn how to use this camera, which I will be doing this week.

I received this camera as a Christmas present, I am quite happy with it! I wanted a nicer camera to mostly take action shots of my dogs and to take before and after photos in my dog grooming salon. My grooming salon has bright florescent lights and every other camera I've used take terrible photos. The nikon photos came our beautiful on the easy auto mode, no adjustments needed! I've taken pictures when it's cloudy, nighttime outside, and nighttime inside and I haven't been disappointed. If you are looking for a nicer camera but don't want to break the bank I highly recommend the Nikon L820!

Overall, the quality of photos is gret but if the subject is moving it looks terrible. I assume I just have it in the wrong mode. I'll be getting a bigger lense in the next year or so. I am happy I bought this camera.

Nikon scored a home run with this one. Two days after I got it, I took a three week trip to Europe shooting under all sorts of conditions and 1200 exposures later I was convinced that this was Nikon's best product ever. I've owned half a dozen of their SLR's over the years and always admired their reliability and durability as well as the quality of images they produced but combining the CMOS sensor with an excellent glass zoom lens that gives me wide angle to extreme tele shots is a super idea. I know that for 200 dollars you've got to cut corners but it would have been nice if they could have included a users manual too. I didn't want to carry a tablet and besides I was in a lot of places that didn't have wifi so I had to learn by experimentation. Fortunately the camera is very user friendly once you understand the way the menus are organized.

I bought a Coolpix L810 3 weeks ago. I made several videos with it as well as some stills, all on the set of AA batteries of AA batteries that came with it. It worked great.Yesterday I took it out of its case, loaded new batteries and tried to shoot video. It immediately started eating batteries. A brand new set of batteries only lasted about 15 seconds then the camera shut down. You can watch the battery power drop as it goes. Then I figured out that the batteries that came with it, though they say they are Alkaline AA, are more powerful than the ones I was trying to use. I went to the store and got some rechargables and it seems OK again. Shoots very good pictures and video.

I purchased this for my fiancée as a Christmas gift. She had been using her smartphone as a camera and moving shots are really blurry. The same blurry motion shots are what I get with this camera. I read all the instructions, and it even has specific settings for motion but they don't really help. I think it's safe to say that if you want action shot performance, you need to step up and spend the money. This camera takes great still shots and the video works great too. I'm just saying, do not expect high end performance from a budget priced camera.

I bought this camera as a gift for my wife. We have both just retired and have grandchildren and felt it would be nice to own a quality camera that can take stills and videos. It's a way better camera than anything we've ever owned before. We've never been hobbyists or ever seriously involved with photography. But we want all our future attempts to be high quality and so far this product has not disappointed. I really can't see how anyone can go wrong by purchasing this Nikon Coolpix L820.

Have a professional photographer friend who suggested this model camera. Wasn't wanting a SLR because it was too bulky for my need. Did not want a point and shoot due to lack of features. This hit the mark. Great camera! Only downside is that you have to remember to pop the flash up manually even if it is in flash mode.

Camera takes excellent photos, love the features and ease of use. 30X zoom is powerful and great for taking photos of subjects normally too far away.Only complaint is the lens cap design is very poor. The lens cap must be removed before turning the camera on, or potential damage to the lens mechanism is likely.

Camera is only good in the right light conditions, making it impossible to take good pictures when indoor or with low light without the flash. It's almost imposible not to take shaky pictures. Do not even try because you might end up frustrated.When in low light and without flash, it takes worst pictures than my cell phone.The person who designed how the lenses protrude when you turn on the camera on, and how it hits the lenses cover if you forget to take it off before, should be fired and I hope he never designs a camera again.The only thing that is very very good is the 30x Zoom

i like the nice size of the viewer screen. its very clear and bright. I havent taken very many pictures yet with it but they look nice for what i have taken. came with photo editing software and the maunual for the camera both on cds. has many "scene" icons to use for different situations. like low light or action, etc. good camera so far.

As an amateur photographer, I have been more than satisfied with my Nikon COOLPIX L820. It is very easy to use and also provides a wide range of alternative settings. I find it is comfortable to handle. While traveling, I can readily access my camera because it fits snugly into the carrying case which I bought with the camera. So I can quickly take it out and snap shots as I travel by bus or train. The downloading system allows me to quickly transfer photos from the camera to my computer. Overall, I am very happy with this choice of camera and the price.

This is a quality camera, but they put the buttons right where a normal person would grab the camera to carry it around in their hand. Not only that, but the buttons are active even when the power is off. It sucks so much that I may return it, and try some other brand. I mean, it's really annoying. They give you a tiny little rubber pad at the top right corner to put your thumb on, and the rest is buttons. LAMEThe other problem is that the smallest video size takes up too much memory to be useful AT ALL, and we have a 2GB memory card. The longest video we can shoot is 23 minutes. WHAT!?!?!?!The only reason I gave it 3 stars is because there is no 2.5LOUSY PLANNING GUYS

This is a nice camera. Works well and takes great pictures.I am somewhat disappointed however that it does not have a rechargeable battery. In defense f the camera howeverthe batteries last much longer than in older cameras. My only complaint.

This camera is functional and zooms in well but for any type of activity shot you have to use the consecutive and you sacrifice timing of the getting any shot for another 30-45 seconds. For the money a good camera but if taking pictures of kids in sports not so great.

This camera is a piece of JUNK I purchased this camera in September 2013 for my friend birthday and took it on one trip too NY. The memory card stopped working. I was told it would cost me $140.00 for the circuit board.DON'T BUY IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP.

We wanted a camera that would allow us to zoom more and have more setting options for pictures. We love to travel and camp/hike so wanted to capture great pictures. We did a lot of research and this camera had the best reviews and features for this type of camera. This isn't an SDR camera and you don't have the option to switch lens. However, you can zoom 30x and do 360 degree pics.We have had this camera for about 2 months and have loved the pictures so far. They are very crisp pictures. Some of which I took from a moving car :)

I ordered this for my mother in law as a gift for her husband. I own a Nikon cool pix L100 and recommended this l820 and they are very happy with it. I wish I had waited and got the L820 it is the same as a L100 but with a little better everything. Thanks BB

In terms of the picture quality, zoom, looks its all good. The only downside is it needs 4 A2 batteries which makes it little difficult to handle when you travel around. I might have omitted this information while buying it. Had it been a product with lithium batteries, it would have been more suitable. 1 and half * less for the battery, otherwise good value for money.

Our last few cameras have been Fujifilms and I had gotten used to the slow recovery time. Unfortunately our last camera was stolen and the backup finally failed after a drop last month. After reading reviews on several cameras I decided on the L820. I have to say I'm extremely pleased. The recovery time between shots is exceptional - I mean like 2-3x faster than our previous Fujis. The pictures look great. Color balance appears normal to my eye and I haven't found anything to not like. I'm very pleased with this purchase and recommend it to anyone looking for a simple point-and-shoot that has some excellent versatility.One last thing: the ability to take closeup shots without using macros is very good. Much better than our previous cameras.

When I put the SD card in I got an error message that the card couldn't be used. I took it to a camera shop and they tried several different cards and got the same error. I ended up returning the camera. It did take incredible pictures and the zoom was awesome! I don't think this is typical of Nikon cameras!!!

The camera only hold like 10pictures before saying "out of memory". I have tried to do formatting for the memory card, but I think the memory card that comes with the camera just literally hold like 10 photos. I haven't had time to do more research but I bought this camera instead of others because I wanted one that was idiot proof to use and didn't require a ton of research.

A definite step up from the "credit card" point and shoot cameras. It has a nice selection of features and an excellent configuration. The controls are intuitive to me and the battery life is great. I needed something better than a "credit card" camera but didn't need a DSLR. This is a wonderful middle ground camera.I would suggest this for folks that know cameras a bit. For the beginning user, I would highly suggest reading the manual through. (It is clear and easy to read and find the info you are after.)All in all, a great camera and at a better price point than others in its category.

Looked at cameras in the store to see what I liked with regards to the feel, weight, etc. Then after searching around online. I just got knowledge overload and went with this Nikon because I liked the feel of it in the store and it had a 30x zoom lens to take soccer photos.It performed very well on our trip to Colorado. I tried using some of the stabilization features and that made it take too long to get a shot. I also had trouble in lower light situations and the pictures came out blurred. The sports setting for taking many shots was great for the "jump" photo of the wedding party. The zoom worked great for catching a hummingbird in motion. I had trouble loading the pictures into the software so I just used them from the computer folder.Great camera at a great price for taking photos that are better than with a smaller point and shoot without having settings and lenses to worry about.

I bought this camera 3 weeks ago during one trip to Florida.I used to change the settings according to the place I was taking the pictures but this camera has a remarkable automatic mode, specially with a lot of light.I stopped loosing time doing it at the second day. The automatic works very well.The pictures were all great, except for low light pictures. I will have to try a bit more.Anyway for the price there is no competition. This is the best camera for less than $200.I would consider buying rechargeable batteries. I took about 500 pictures with the included batteries before changing them.500 pictures is nothing when you use a good camera like this. You will want to take much more.

It was a last minute Christmas gift for my mom, and she absolutely loves it. I work at best buy and have sold this camera before, but always knew in the back of my head amazon has it cheaper. It's easy to use, has great zoom, fun features, the list goes on. I would recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for an uncomplicated camera that takes better pictures then an iPhone

This may not be the greatest camera available, but for an advanced amatuer it's nearly perfect. Both stills and video come out clear and crisp. It's a point-and-shoot when that's all you need yet has advanced settings and functions for when you feel more creative. The focal length allows for well-focused close shots as well as distant images. It's light and easy to hold. Downloading images to Picasa or another application is as easy as connecting a USB cable or inserting the memory card in your reader. It takes standard AA batteries.In summery, it's an easy to use camera that doesn't require an advanced degree in photography. But if you have one you'll likely enjoy using it, too.

I have used Nikon SLR's for years....I grew up on Nikons!I was excited to find a Nikon DSLR in this price range, I read all the reviews on how great this camera was and decided to buy it.But it did not live up to my satisfaction. Every single photo I took, that had any kind of movement with the subjectthe photos were blurry! I read and re-read the manual thinking it was something was set wrong on camera and it still did not takegood photos...I am a semi-professional and I know my cameras....I could not figure out why this camera ALWAYS tookblurry photos when the subject was moving....any kind of movement,,,the photos were blurry! I returned this and was very disappointed.

Took the camera on a Christmas cruise. It was easy to use and the zoom lens was amazing! Agreed with other reviews that not being able to fit the lens cap back on the lens while extended, was a little annoying, but overall, enjoyed taking pictures with it. It's light weight, so very easy to handle and carry. Did have a little issue with the viewer screen going black when I turned the camera vertically. Not sure why this happened, but worked around it.
