The perfect 1st camera for me. Full HD, 16MP, with 30x Zoom Lens with that price is just perfect. I was originally going to buy the Sony RX100 or a Canon T3i but I did not want to drop that amount of money on a camera and then have to buy all the lenses for it. There are a lot of cameras out there better than the Coolpix L820 but, it all comes down to what you are using it for. I use it to shoot youtube videos and take amateur photos of electronic components (small resistors and PCBs).

I bought this camera mainly for its zoom capabilities. Im not the steadiest guy in the world but even at full zoom this camera works great.

I bought this camera to be able to tape my kid singing the national anthem at a huge stadium. i was seated in the nose bleed section, from our seats we could see the boys on the field, but they were like tiny bugs on the field. We zoomed in and could clearly and easily identify our child from the rest, all of the faces were clear. It was truly amazing. when i zoomed out at the end and showed the size of the stadium and the distance from which we were video taping it, people watching the video were astounded. Great camera!

I purchased this camera, the L820 Accessory Kit and the Case Logic Case for my daughter and son-in-law for Christmas. It took them about 5 minutes to have it ready to snap pictures. They are THRILLED. Great gift, great price.

I have a Nikon DSL, and I love it, but I wanted something a little simpler to use for some occasions. This camera takes beautiful pictures and is very easy to use. It is especially good for very low light conditions. And the price is right. My only complaint, and others have mentioned it, is that the battery case is tricky to get open and shut. Otherwise I am enjoying it. In my experience you can't go wrong with Nikon, and this is a very good starting point.

I am just amazed by this camera...It does everything, does it right, and 16 Mp.Why would anyone buy anything else?Most other cameras of this quality and capability are 3 or 4 times as much.

The buttons are counter-intuitively located. Who knows how to review one's recent shots, which is so easy to do on other cameras? It also weighs quite a lot more than I anticipated from its marketing. And what's with having two W-T adjusters, one on each side of the camera? It seems to have all KINDS of trouble focusing in its default mode, and it won't allow the picture to be taken until it decides. The only reasons I am not giving it a 2 or a 1 are that A) it's red; and B) I'll probably get used to its oddities sooner or later.

First thing is the color; it's really sharp looking, it's a patent red or wine w/black ...very nice!Second is of course the range of zoom = 30x.Third is that you can take pictures in 'any' lighting or 'any' time of day.The rest are just as amazing features like; clarity, 3" screen, large hand grip for holding the camera & many,many other features.It's just a great camera.Oh I forgot, it runs on batteries. (You don't have to charge it!!!)

We took the Nikon COOLPIX L820 with us to Hawaii and it did not disappoint us. Pictures came out awesome. I especially liked the zoom on this camera. Good buy!!

The photos were blurry no matter which mode I use in. The continual shooting feature did not work at all. it is just an awful camera. If you are planning to use it with children, is a bad decision, you will never get a clear picture.

This is my second purchase of this camera. I live in the tropics and I use my camera every day...salt air, jungle, etc. Usually cameras last one or two years at most. This one made it over three years with very hard use. You can't go wrong with this camera. Very user friendly.

My wife took a 10 trip to Thailand and brought 4 extra batteries with her. She took about 35 pictures with the first set of batteries and about 40 pictures with the second set. My suggestion to any buyers of this camera is to bring lots of extra batteries with them if they plan on taking lots of pictures. When she came home i went to download the pictures and found that the USB cable was about 10" long! It would not have cost them much more than a couple of pennys to send a cable of useful length in the camera package. I wrote to Nikon about the cable, their response was that a shorter cable last longer. That is BULL!

I bought this for my husband. He has enjoyed it thus far. He particularly likes the clear pictures he is getting with the zoom feature. I don't think I'd want a camera this large to lug around, but he is doesn't mind. I have to admit it does take much better pictures than my little old Polaroid digital.

the camera came withouit battery charger, withouit many of the daily needs for my useand although I am careful to observe such, it was refurbished and not a discounted camera

I just got this around Thanksgiving time and wish I would have saved my money to for a DSLR instead. This camera doesn't auto focus about half the time. It won't auto flash about half the time and the picture is too dark to see clearly.

I am a novice when it comes to photography. I love the out doors, sunsets, animal pictures, concert pictures, etc. I bought this camera solely for the zoom. I am attending a concert, and I want to be sure to be able to take clear pictures from a distance. I have only had this for 2 days, but I absolutely love it. It is easy to use, the design fits in your hand easily, and it takes great pictures. I would recommend this product to anyone.

The camera is easy to use and takes good clear STILL shots. Any action shots or sport shots are unfocused. I have tried many different camera settings and still cannot get a good image.

I rated this 5 stars because it has AMAZING zoom, it comes with everything needed in the box, including batteries: (camera, lens cap, batteries, neck strap, and cords for plugging it in to the tv), it takes great pictures, the grip is great, and easy to use. the only bad things it that it uses AA batteries (which some would say is an advantage,) and you have to remember to take the lens cap off or the lens will get stuck, but that's not Nikon's fault, it is nearly impossible to stop that... and it is really hard to shut the battery/sd card compartment. overall i would rate it 50 stars if I could. I recommend this to beginner/medium photographers. great price at amazon!

This is an amazing camera! Takes excellent photos, easy to use, great zoom, batteries last a long time. Only drawback, for the money it would have been nice to get a case, but fortunately I had an Olympus case that fits perfectly.

I purchased this camera a couple of months ago and it was a slight upgrade from my L-810. Both these Nikon cameras are the only ones I've been able to get good (great) moon pictures with and are excellent on low light pictures. As far as I'm concerned, this was actually an upgrade from my Nikon D-7000 DSLR and is much more user friendly. Disregard all the complaints about the lens cap being attached to the camera body and lack of a viewfinder,just buy this camera, learn how to use it (easy) and enjoy the heck out of it! Erik M.

The card reader broke after 2 months and I sent it back to Nikon for repairs. They said that I abused or dropped the camera and they want $113 to fix it. The camera worked fine without a memory card but was dead with a variety of cards that works elsewhere.I will never buy another Nikon until they fix it for free. If they do I will repost.

I ordered this product with a specific purpose in mind: to take my friend hiking up Diamond Head Crater in Hawaii. It went above and beyond my expectations! The 30x zoom was amazing! I took so many photos from closeup shots on sea turtles to zoomed in all the way shots. All photos were so vibrant and beautiful! I have had Nikon cameras in the past but this by far is your best ever! Loved it! I can't wait to go touring castles in Europe!

It does everything I need it to do so far. It could use some improvement in these areas:1. use the flat square type batteries instead of 4 double As. The ones that it came with exhausted after about 150 shots and frequent playback2. The continuous sports mode should be faster. I saw a lot of blur on the motion shots.3. The LCD should allow tilt and foldBeing a novice, I don't mind not having manual mode. It takes good pictures with very little effort.

its a nikon, what needs to be said? The pics are perfection crisp and beautiful, I got tired of using my galaxy S4 for pics and videos, I wanted something that would capture more beauty, this cam does it and then some, it is the very best bang for your buck i am so glad i bought it

I bought this camera in addition to my pocket camera for those times I want a greater choice of features. This camera takes incredible pictures whether in macro or telephoto. I find that when taking macro it is best to use a tripod and use the the self-timer to avoid any posssibility of camera shake when pressing the shutter release. After studying numerous cameras I chose this one for it's many features and very reasonable price.

Only thing I would like to see different is a rechargeable battery... this is powered by AA batteries. It seems like too nice of a camera to not have it's own rechargeable battery.
