its a 'nice' camera except when you zoom in its all blurry, you cant get a clear picture at all if its zoomed in. and you can't do close ups with this camera at all. all the pictures are blurry unless its steady on a tripod or table. my samsung galaxy s3 takes waaaay better photos. its the same as any other point and shoot digital camera except designed to look like a nikon dslr. not worth $200. and if you forget to take the lens cap off your camera will break. i suggest either buying a cheaper regular digital camera or an expensive photography dslr camera.

I love this camera! I had an SLR, but that was more camera than I needed. I researched and compared a lot and settled on this bad boy. I haven't used it a whole lot, but I am extremely pleased thus far.

The wife and I don't have a lot of experience with different brands of cameras. The wife's parents have the 510 series so I decided to buy the cheaper 820 model as it saved me $100 plus dollars.

Takes great photos and easy to use. Have used it for a wedding a wedding party and several outdoor photos. Only issues is trying to get the lighting right.

I got this camera to replace an older Canon. It was definitely the right choice. I did a special scrapbooking project over a weeks time, taking over 700 photos and the camera really performed well (on one set of batteries, nonetheless). Pictures are crisp and clear even in lower light situations, both indoors and outdoors. The zoom allowed me to get excellent close-ups from a distance without the blur I would get from my old Canon. The macro feature allows amazing close-ups. I'm more than satisfied with this camera.

This is an mazing camera! I really don't know what else to say! My photos are brilliant! And I am NOT a photographer by any stretch of the imagination. I am very pleased. Thanks to everyone who answered my questions ahead of time about this camera. I was not disappointed in the least and neither will you be. No tho mention the amazing amazon price i got . . . under $180 for this! Brand New Even!

while there are some settings that can't be manually set, over all this a very good automatic with lots of ways to adjust settings type of camera. if you want to see a lady happy, buy her a camera like this and see her face when she takes a picture of her children

This may be a really good entrance to start to take fancy pictures as you like. You can learn and get a lot of things when you bring this camera to outside. But you should have 4 rechargeable batteries (AA).

It has lived up to all my expectations. It takes great photos with a minimum amount of time spent to learn its' functions. I carry it wherever I go. It is light and looks great. I have a lot more "testing" to do in various conditions, but so far I cannot fault the camera.

I just got this camera and I love it. Easy to use and it takes great pictures. For the money it's really hard to beat.The pictures are sharp and clear. Zoom works fine and the battery life is great.Overall, it's just another great Nikon camera and I plan on getting the D3200 next year.

I think the COOLPIX L820 is by far one of the best in this category. The COOLPIX L820 is easy to use/operate and it just simply takes great pictures and video. This is the only camera I own and I use it everyday. The only down-side in my opinion is the batteries. Gone are the flat, rectangle rechargeable batteries (needing only one) to 4 x AA. I change batteries frequently.

I have never given a one-star rating on anything before this. However, this is the worst camera I've ever owned. The biggest problem is the focus - - simply put, it doesn't, not if there is any movement at all in a two-second window. This is the slowest camera I've ever owned, and I wish someone else had mentioned that in these reviews. If you are ONLY doing still subject photos, you could survive with this camera, but otherwise, save your money for a nicer Sony or Canon - - this one is junk.

I love this camera. It is easy to use and fairly small for how much it has to offer. I love the fact that you can download pics to your computer so easy. I sell on ebay a lot and use my camera often. The only gripe I have is that when using the option for it to self adjust it will pic things that make no sense.

As expected, light camera, with features and price it competes directly to Canon SX500IS, and Sony H200. The 30X optical zoom delivers nice optical quality. only downsides are image quality at higher ISO settings.

This is a good camera, great for the money. The zoom is excellent. The color is ok, but not great. The clarity or sharpness is good, but not great. Overall a good camera. I was surprised at it size, smaller than I had expected. Compared to a smart phone..this is way better, no comparison really. However, it's still just a point and shoot camera..I do like taking nature photographs and having a camera with a good zoom is nice to have. (not worrying about carrying around a bunch of expenses lenses a definite plus in my book). However, I don't think I'll be happy until I step up to a DSLR.

For a $200 price tag this is a very good camera, nice zoom although a little too sensitive, but I can get used to it. If posible get a 32 GB SD card so space won't be an issue.

great camera - completely meets our needs. Purchased as present for my daughter's birthday & she loves it. She is still learning all the features & functions, but has used it so far to take great sports pics & low-light pics. high expectations as she continues to explore the capabilities.

I love that this camera lets me take as many pictures as I want without stopping to process! With my other camera it would take forever to take pictures because I would have to wait for it to sometimes process between every picture. With this camera I haven't had to wait yet, love it! I can take some really closeup pictures of birds in our backyard too. I haven't experimented with it much yet but would recommend it to anyone in general.

Haven't played with it too much but love everything about it so far. Took a picture of my niece sleeping and it looked liked all the lights were on!(and didn't even use special setting) Loving the zoom too! Only wish the book with it went into more details about different settings, haven't played the cd/dvd that came with it yet so maybe it'll have more info

So far, so good. It has done everything I wanted it to, but I haven't worked it very hard yet. I wanted a better camera than my old Sony point-and-shoot for my vacation, and this does the trick.

I had hoped for better quality close ups and greater ease of use than the previous edition (L810), but found the same limitations and blurring on higher optical scenes. The only GOOD thing, is the camera is light-weight and easy to handle (for someone with arthritis).The batteries don't last long and I'm constantly changing them. This will be my last Nikon (it's the 3rd and final). Perhaps this is better suited for someone with more experience and knowledge in photography. I wanted a camera to use "just for fun". Didn't think I'd have to go to classes to get the most out of it.

Cool "pre-DSLR" camera for beginners just getting into photography. Lots of features to play around with before you drop the big bucks on a nice DSLR. Also, takes excellent pictures for a sub $200 point and shoot.

I have used cool pix for years and i thought this cool zoom lens would be an upgrade, but I have to say it wasn't right for me. It is too heavy, the display screen scratched instantly from shirt buttons while the camera hung on me using the included strap. I had to return. I am disappointed. Maybe I will just use my iPhone from now on...but no zoom.

I am still getting used to the camera. So far, I am loving it. I am using it mainly for the kiddos, but I really look forward to taking it out and about. I did go to Target and purchase some screen protectors.. I would recommend something.. the screen is big!!

The Nikon L820 exceeds my expectations. Having one lens that can range from a good wide angle to a super zoom is an incredible convenience. I never want to go back to the days when I lugged around multiple heavy lenses and had to stop and change lenses for various needs. The ability to shoot in low light is awesome. The antishake ability allows me to use the zoom without a tripod even though I am 71 years old. The only problem with the camera is the size...not that it is very large or heavy by any means but it will not fit in my pocket. Can't have everything.Joel Saland,Albuquerque, New Mexico

I was looking for something smaller than a more professional type camera and I have the small Coolpix but wanted better quality pictures, so I decided on this camera. It has many photo settings and most stuff I have no clue on how to use. It took great pictures and movies. I love the stabilization setting since many times I was taking photos out of the car window.
