This camera takes good pictures but I can not get good action shots. The dogs, wildlife & any action pictures come out fuzzy for me. I don't know how to adjust the settings to get good action photos. The main reason I bought the camera was for action shots. I have tried sports & several other setting & every thing is still blurred. Any suggestions?

I recently purchased the Coolpix L820 after reading many reviews. My last two cameras were Canon Powershot models which did a great job on still shots but could not record a video for more than 30 seconds (battery burnout). I am very pleased with the Coolpix which took many 2-3 minute videos on my last trip. Looks like a winner!

I am not a camera expert, and I am certain there is much more I could learn to do with this camera. But for my point and shoot skill level the pictures are turning out so much better than my old camera. If you barely know how to use a camera and you are looking for an everyday camera, or a camera to take product shots with. This works great!

This camera is exactly what I was wanting. I was tired of taking pictures with my iPhone that made them grainy and mostly unfocused. I have had it since November and have taken over 500 photos already. The upload software for the computer is simple, easy to use, and quick. I can upload and email to family and friends, post to facebook, or anyplace else in under 30 minutes (depending on the number of photos I took). The picture quality is crystal clear. I can switch between different formats without missing a beat. The timer function gives plenty of time for me to setup the shot and jump in the picture. I am just now having to change the batteries so it doesn't drain them as quickly as you would expect. I haven't taken video yet but can't wait for Christmas morning! Great investment, Awesome quality, and Perfect pictures.

We bought this camera after an older point and shoot camera we had broke. We were heading to a safari vacation and I was going prepared with as much photo equipment as possible. We ended up having a GoPro 3+ Silver Edition, my Canon Digital SLR, and this L820. Thank goodness we brought it. The GoPro takes much better quality video, but has no zoom ability. My 55-250mm lens on the Digital SLR broke and left me with only the L820. The pictures came out great from macro to regular to zoomed in. I took a photo of the moon at full zoom, holding it in my hands. The stability control and zoom worked to allow me to see the full moon with great detail of the surface.I know other cameras go beyond 16MP now, but 16 should be more than enough for everyone. I would highly recommend this as a high quality point and shoot.

This camera is very nice and the 30x optical zoom is great. The issue that I have is that you cannot adjust the shutter speed and a lot of pictures come out very blurry no matter how hard I try to steady myself. The camera comes with a bunch of preset "scenes" that adjust the settings of the camera for certain situations (outdoors, party, etc.). The only scene that I can take a decent, focused indoor picture with is the "backlighting" scene. Those photos come out nicely, but I wish that I could play around with the settings a little bit more, or take indoor pictures using other preset scenes. I guess I need to by a more expensive camera to have those options. Outdoor photos come out great, though.

The Coolpix L820 Nikon is excellent. It has a deeper field of focus than many other cameras in its class.This is NOT a light weight. The menus and tools are rather easy to use. The pictures are very crisp, and the moviesare fabulous.

I love this camera since the very moment I opened the box. It has everything that I want and much more. Simple, easy to use, and the quality of the pictures & video are great. The zoom is just amazing and it comes with a very user friendly software too. If you are looking for the kind of options and features offered by an SLR camera, don't buy this; but if you just want to keep it simple and enjoy taking good pictures, you can't go wrong with this one.I already got the original AC power cable and it also works great when I take videos.However, in using video mode, the screen keeps showing a 30 minutes of maximum recording time, even when a lower resolution quality is selected, (the camera should be able to take longer shots, as you choose a lower video resolution/quality). They told me that I was using an SD card non recommended by the manufacturer. Obviously, I hadn't have access the Reference Manual at the time of the purchase, so I bought the SD card suggested by Amazon (which is not on the list, of course). I already ordered a new SD card, so let's see what happen... Apart from that, I think I will enjoy this camera for a long time.

I purchased mine in dec and by may it is broken and not repairable. The battery door is very cheaply made and your card is in there so you open it alot. 2 areas on the camera body have broken off not allowing the door to stay closed! very poor construction.

Wife has a true DSLR Nikon, and I have been wanting something a bit more than a point and shoot pocket camera. The CoolPix L820 has very good low light capability and up to 30X zoom, so it lets me do a lot more in terms of outdoor- nature- pictures. I am not ready for a full blown DSLR yet, so this was a good choice.One minor gripe is that it has very poor ability to focus at closer distances when using the higher zoom levels, and the loss of focus is sudden, compounded by a slightly insensitive zoom control. It makes some close up shots hard to impossible, where my little point and shoot camera works.After a few weeks of using it I am even more pleased. I have been amazed too at the long battery life. Image quality is quite good, the zoom and low light capabilities are simply great.I noticed some complaints about the lens cover attaching to the body- I find that there is no problem in use, and the camera failing to extend the lens and come on is a quick clue to take the cotton picking cover off. It certainly seems to be designed to deal with that, and I am starting to remember to drop the lens cover FIRST. :)I recently got an accessory kit with tripod, SD card reader, case, and cleaning kit, and find the card reader eases transfer of pictures to the computer.

I ordered this camera to take pictures oversees. While I did get it in time, despite the lateness of my order, I didn't have time to fully familiarize myself, so I couldn't find the control for the 'f' stop. Unfortunately, I couldn't adapt it to get pictures of the aurora borealis, but stills and videos were great.

I really like this small but mighty little point and shoot. The video quality is very impressive. Have shot several indoor Tae Kwon Do test videos with this and it captures the movement and speed effortlessly. I recommend lithium batteries especially if shooting video. A great small package that you would expect from Nikon.

I picked this camera because I wanted bells and whistles (1080p video recording, 30X zoom), but also ease of use, a camera that uses the same memory card as my previous camera, uses standard batteries and has an auto setting feature. I've used the auto settings on the camera outdoors (beach), indoors (party) and portraits and all the pictures came out great. In time I hope to use the more advanced settings/features but until then, I'm very happy with the ease of use and quality of the pictures.

This camera does just about everything but the dinner dishes! It's light, easy to use, and comfortable to hold. I bought it to take on a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and I know it will live up to my expectations. (Plus, I bought the red one - I get so tired of everything being black -- and it's gorgeous.) Couldn't be happier!

Bought it to replace my Canon Powershot SX10IS and it shoots superior quality images with any kind of light even without a flash, I used a triod at night to avoid blured pics at night, awesome speed and capture objects in mid-air with no problem, (day light)great optical zoom not so good the digital but I think there no good ones on any brand. A lot more settings that I know what to do with but I always use the auto mode and saves me the pain of guessing since I don't know much of photography. If you want to point and shoot and forget abut everything else and focus on enjoying the moment this is the camera for you. I feel the batteries (4 alcaline AA's) last way a lot longer than my Canon.

Well, obviously, you buy a camera for the picture quality. This camera does that well. Easy point and shoot. Pretty idiot-proof ;) There is a flaw, but not major; the battery door is obnoxiously stiff and hard to open. If you travel a lot, I think this is a good choice because it is very light. It has held up better than I ever thought it would since it is almost all plastic.I really enjoy the extreme close-ups it takes. Some are quite lovely. For example, I got up super close to a milkweed pod and it got all the seeds and silk in great definition.

Despite that the battery is not rechargeable but I never regret it. This camera is amazing. All the languages included, Great quality and it is not draining the battery like any other models. Durable and great quality. I am very happy with it. Shipping with these guys was very decent and quick. No damages especially I bought two units from them. It came with lens cover, Lanyard, set of battery and manual. It only need a memory card and you good to go immediate. I am very highly recommend it.

I'm a complete novice when it comes to a camera like this. All of my previous cameras have been strictly point and shoot and small enough to fit in my pocket. I was very wary of moving to a bigger camera, especially since I'm not very good with figuring out settings and features. I like to keep things simple and the Nikon L 820 does all of that. I am easily able to go through the different shooting modes and get back to auto without having any problems. The camera adjusts for the lighting that you are in. For example we were in a dark theater and the camera went to night mode, the pictures came out great. The camera is small enough that you can put it in a purse or diaper bag without it taking up too much space or weighing you down. I was worried about the battery life because I'm not used to having to change batteries in my camera but I've had this camera for a month and so far the batteries are still good. I'm not sure how many pictures I've taken but I've been to a few amusement parks and I covered a children's program for work and they are still going strong. I believe this is the perfect camera for a beginner or for anyone looking for a great camera at a decent price.

I am not a techy person and I hate a lot of buttons on my camera. I take simple pictures for my listings and pictures of my family. This camera is PERFECT for all of that. Simple to use. Simple to handle. Simple to upload pictures. My only complaint is the battery life. In the year I've had this camera I have had to replace the batteries 6 times. I turn it off immediately after using and don't have it on for long periods when I am using it, so the battery life is a little frustrating but overall it's a great camera.

I bought this camera this past week based off of glowing reviews and a neighbor who owns it and has taken great pictures. I have been impressed by the quality of the pictures that have been taken outside, the HD video seems very good too. However, all the action shots I've taken of my kids have been BLURRY! I'm not talking about a little blurry, but so blurry you can't see who they even are. Even when trying to take pictures of my 3 year old, the pictures are blurry unless she is 100% still (which when does that happen, right?). I have tried taking pictures on all the different settings and nothing seems to help. My old $100 Canon point and shoot would capture better pictures when kids were moving. I'm not asking for perfection, but shouldn't the camera be able to capture my son or daughter running without them looking like a smoky cloud is around them? I'm not trying to be too hard (yet) on the camera. I'd really like to know if I'm doing something wrong and maybe missing a setting. I'm not a complete novice when it comes to electronics, so I'm feeling frustrated that this is happening. I want to like the camera. I really like the price tag, but not unless I can get crisp pictures of my kids just being kids. I'm just a mom trying to capture my kids being young. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!Also, it seems as though the camera runs "slow". It takes a while between taking each picture.Please help!

Definitely recommend to anyone who wants to take great looking pictures without the cost of added lenses or high grade equipment! It take professional grade pictures quickly and effortlessly! arrived a day sooner than expected, great because it was an xmas gift! wife absolutely loves it! the auto focus is crazy with clarity and the zoom, well its insane! only downside is the slightly flimsy battery lid but this wont be an issue with the optional charger and rechargeable batteries! if anyone is wondering, as i was, the lens is not changeable, but with the equipped lens, its not a problem for most. completely blown away by the 30x zoom.

Seems like a good camera - comes with internal memory and can also accept an SD card.It can record movies, and the file plays readily on the computer without any conversion or special software.Just plug the camera into the computer and open windows explorer to find the files in the camera.What doesn't it have?1. The lens is not threaded for a filter. I like to add a UV or skylight filter for the sole purpose that in an accident I prefer the cheap filter to scratch instead of the lens.2. No viewfinder. One watches the LCD display instead.I also like that it a standard tripod can screw into the bottom of this camera.

This camera takes excellent photos and has lots of settings to compensate for lighting conditions.I had a battery problem shortly after using it. I took a few dozen photos and after uploading them to the computer the camera wouldn't turn back on - it said " battery exhausted " and wouldn't do anything. I thought, well...I guess this thing really eats batteries. It turns out that if you have it connected to your computer and turn it on to upload, then you must TURN IT OFF before disconnecting the cord. Otherwise it gives you the battery error message and you're stuck. You can reset it by opening the battery case and taking one of them out for about 5 seconds.Also, I saw another reviewer complained that you can't view pictures without the lens being out - that's wrong, you just have to hold down the play button for a few secs and then you can view your pics.Overall, I'm very happy with the camera and it takes great photos and it easy to use.

The first camera would not recognize the memory cards. I contacted Amazon and they immediately shipped out a replacement. The replacement worked fine. It's a great little camera. Very easy to use. I was a little reluctant to buy a refurbished unit but Amazon stood behind the purchase by offering to refund or replace. Recieved the replacement in 3 days.

This is the best camera that I have owned. As a senior citizen,who cannot figure out the high end cameras,this one was so easy to use. I love the quick ready to shoot feature,image stabilization,clear zoom pictures. Controls are very conveniently located. Haven't watched the instruction cd yet,having too much fun taking pictures !Also took a couple of movies,again control was easily found,easy to implement. Review of pictures quick and easy!Con: hard to see screen in bright light,no viewfinder.

I bought this camera after I had a baby because I had an old camera that didn't take very good pictures and no video. I read reviews on a few different cameras and thought this one sounded the best. Big mistake.A baby moves, and this camera doesn't do well with that. Almost every picture I take comes out blurry. The slightest movement ruins the picture. I've never had a camera that seemed to be time lapsed in every shot. I've tried every setting there is, but nothing seems to help. And when I try to use the flash I've missed out on amazing photos of my daughter because it takes so long for it to take a picture after I push the button.I've gone back to my 10 year old cheap camera. Washed out is better than blurred.

A great 35MM with tons of great features. It is quite easy to use, logical buttons and intuitive. Take great photos with a little practice...love the ability to take night photos with just the light of the moon or a streetlight.

I wanted this camera of coarse to take many many pictures, as it arrived damaged N not working N missing parts I could now use it which was what it was intended for, ruined my plans N my sons graduation day ! do not order! Amazon really disappointed me

I purchased this camera September 2013. I am a huge fan of Nikon. I also own a DSLR. While on a trip to Yosemite a couple of week ago, I received the dreadful "LENS ERROR" message. I was so incredibly disappointed that I couldn't use the 30x zoom which is the only reason I brought it with me on my trip. Prior to leaving on my trip to Yosemite, I considered bringing one camera. Thankfully, I trusted my gut and brought my DSLR with me. I'm hoping to be able to have it replaced through Nikon as I haven't even had a year yet.

I bought this last year just before I left for Mexico for 5 months. It did not have the cord to hold the cap on and I didn't have the time to complain and have it sent...otherwise, very nice camera.

I am very pleased with the performance and features on this camera. The camera was well designed, with ease of operation as an important part of it's layout. The rear mounted control buttons give you immediate access to the ability to control exposure, set the self timer, change from photo to video, or play back your photos. It is possible to set up different shots quickly because of this great layout. The 30X optical zoom is outstanding, and the image remains extremely good into the digital zoom as well.The video performance is really great, and with stereo audio as well. For the photo enthusiast, this camera should please you. At the price, it would be hard to find a better unit.

I bought this camera to replace my 6 year old Cannon Sureshot. I absolutely love it. My only one true complaint is the flash. You have to manually open it when you need it. It would be great if it could sense when you need it and open on its own like my 15 year old Nikon D40. Also it does not take good pics in very low light. My daughters are in beauty pageants and this camera is awful taking pics of them on stage when I am only sitting 3-4 rows from the stage. With all that said, it's a GREAT camera!! I do recommend rechargeable batteries or else you may go broke.

I bought this for my wife as a Christmas present.She has a compact digital camera that is very handy to carry and use, but photo quality is lacking.For good definition and depth of field, you need a bigger piece of glass.She was not interested in a full systems camera, she wanted it to be simple to use.I like that it used AA batteries, as they are easy to replace without waiting for the recharge.It is still to early to tell how she likes it, as she likes to read all the instructions first.I thought it was very straight forward and could be used right out of the box.Would definitely recommend to a friend.

I have a Canon T3i and have been closely eyeing the 70D. I wanted something with HD and a fair array of settings for photos in a more portable form- and this definitely holds up! I would recommend it as a great beginner camera.

It takes great pictures, but sometimes the pictures are blurry. I'm not a professional photographer so I'm not sure if I did not choose the right setting. I also took some videos, and they are very clear and sharp. I like the fact that you can take videos in full HD.

This is a truly wonderful camera. The size, design, and tech that Nikon put into this handy package are simply stellar! The pictures that are rendered are a wonderment in light conditions that varied from Alaskan bright, to night on the sea after sunset with the cruise ships light reflected on the ocean. It got them all just right, without my having to intervene and attempt modifying the settings. AMAZING!Now, the bad part. I ordered a NEW camera. When I opened the box, things that should have been separate were already installed on the camera (batteries and lens cap). The lens cap was missing the attachment lanyard. Further investigation showed the exposure counter at 246, AND the internal memory had a photo and a short movie on it. We were leaving on our cruise the next day, so it was not possible to return it for credit and receive a replacement. After contacting Amazon, they offered a $40 rebate on the price, offered me the option to return the camera for a full refund after returning from our trip, and apologized for the error. I COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR MORE!I took the camera to Alaska with trepidation, but it performed well indeed. It is a keeper, but this is a cautionary tale for consumers and for Amazon!

This is a good camera. The only downside i have found with it so far is the battery life is real short expecially when your uploading pictures to your computer it can die within a couple of hours so just be sure to shut it off when not in use. Also If your going to buy this camera I would reccomend you get some recharable battereis and a charger because of the low battery life. OTher than that crystal clear picture. Excellent product

I have only taken about 50 pics and 2 videos with it so far with Very good results. It has more features than I will use in my lifetime. I am 71 and an occasional experienced amateur photographer. I do not like to carry a lot of equipment with me when taking photos' and this camera can be set to shoot scenes in many varying light situations and distance from camera. The only equipment I carry besides the camera is a tripod and a monopod and a supply of AA Lithium batteries. After playing with the camera for about an hour when I received it and taking about 50 pics or so and two 2 or 3 minute videos the battery charge indicator still registers a full charge. I would recommend this camera to people who think like me and do not want to be bogged down with a ton of equipment to take good pics and videos(1080P at that). One more thing, this camera takes standard AA batteries I put lithiums' in from scratch I didn't bother with the alkaline batteries supplied with camera.

I bought this camera because I always wanted a Nikon. For the price and characteristics I gave it a try. I am very happy with the definition and the quality of the photos but I am not sure I am doing the right thing when I taking photos to people moving or at night. I don't know almost anything about photography but I could say this is a great cAmera if you know how to use it

Typically, camera quality are shelved. Anything below certain price is almost useless, anything of better quality is so expensive that it hurts. I bought this for my wife and she loves it. It takes great pics, easy to use, and does not cost an arm-and-a-leg.

Blows my (7 year old) Olympus Rebel XD away when it comes to low-light situations: goes strong without the need of flash.Built-in flash memory is useful for emergency situations, but only good for a handful of pictures - these days it shouldn't be a problem to increase the built-in flash memory to store at least 50 pictures, probably would only cost $2 more in production.Not ideal in fast-paced environments - there's quite a significant lag when trying to take a shot. But I knew that already as it has been stated in several reviews.Overall a great digital camera for beginners.

I would have given this camera a full five stars, and I still might in a few months, but for now I consider it a four. It is surely a step above a point and shoot camera with its excellent len and zoom capability. It recovers quickly so taking pictures at a family gathering, especially with little children is quite good. This is not a camera that you can switch to manual to make your own settings, however, there are many settings that I've only just begun to fool with. Overall I'm quite pleased with my choice.
