So far we haven't experienced any issues with the camera. The picture quality is good. However video quality is affected depending on what application it's used with. We've tested with both Gmail and Windows Live. The video was clear in both however Windows Live seemed to have superior clarity even when on full-screen display. It's proved itself more reliable than the two Logitech cameras we've also tested. LifeCamStudio is a quality product. I'd give it four stars.

No tools necessary to mount this very accurate camera to the top of your monitor. [it simply rests in place, so those with active family members may want to add tape or a screw] Great image right away and somewhat easy set-up with enclosed software. The specialty filters were especially nice. Unfortunately, installation comes to an abrupt halt and I can't seem to get any farther.

Install the software, plug into open USB port. Start the software. I chose not to install the optional software. Perfect for low light.

I have a really fast workstation, but according to the other reviewers it can't really do 1080p. 1080p is NOT a camera resolution, it is a video resolution.But I really don't know myself. The software would crash or say "An unexpected error occurred". I spent quite a while finding a web version and downloading, trying multiple reinstalls. Nothing worked. Microsoft doesn't support XP?As a plain, lo-rez camera it works about as well as those I already have under $20. Why can't they separate the software or make it easy to install instead of the broken all-or-none blob.Find some other model.

Okay, I like it. I am not much into PC to PC video communication, but this could change my mind. I have only had a couple of video conference situations, but it seems to live up to Microsoft's claims.What I didn't like is having to download software to make it work on my Windows 7 PC. There were also some issues with auto-focus in low light conditions. The base is questionable - I had trouble keeping it in the right place on flat surfaces and it didn't fit on my LCD monitor very well.Once I had the software (Microsoft Live!) loaded, it was at least fun to use. I was able change the video with effects and add-on objects. Sound was pretty good as well.Barring my few concerns, I am quite pleased with this little camera. I see many other uses for this and I plan on looking into what I can do with Linux.

I thought that this was a pretty good little webcam although there are others out there that are of a bit higher quality concerning their basic functions, but for the average user, I would say that you really couldn't go wrong with this camera. The picture quality is more than sufficient for the average user, although I do tend to agree with some of the other users concerning the low-light capabilities of this camera being below standard. I also tend to agree that the bracket should have either been made better, or even better yet, there should have been a couple of different mounting brackets along with the camera in order to mount it more securely depending upon the individual users preference. But those two small complaints aside, I would strongly recommend this computer mounted video camera.Shawn KovacichCreator of numerous books and DVD's.

The Microsoft LifeCam Studio is everything as advertised. Great low light performance. The auto-focus works perfectly. A good value for the money.

Have found nothing bad about this. wife talks to her relatives overseas and they say the picture is so clear you think she is in the same room. uses this thru SKYPE (TM) and never has a problem. web cam turns on automatically. absolutely goof proof. any one can use it.

This webcam was super easy to install on the computer and works well for informal applications such as conversing with family. All the hype on the box didn't match my experience, which is that it's an average camera. If you want a camera for professional use such as work teleconferences, I recommend you look for a camera with better resolution.

For people like me - not a "techie", and no desire to be one - this is a great camera. It is easy to install, easy to use, has great resolution, handles Skype and web-chatting like a dream. I have read some of the other reviews with quibbles about the refocusing capabilities, etc. etc. ... and you know what? - I'm not Steven Spielberg and I'm never going to be. It works great - `nuff said.

This device is far superior to the basic Logitech eyeball I was using before. The picture quality is excellent, and it's easy to hook the device onto the computer or anything else. The one glitch is that the camera has a hard time staying focused with a moving object such as a toddler or baby. I didn't notice this problem with my Logitech. The blurring and refocusing is annoying for the viewer. For this reason, I would not recommend this device for webcam visits with children, but it is excellent if movement is not an issue.

I picked up the LifeCam studio today (not on Amazon). It's a great HD webcam, and I think it is better than Logitech's offerings in the same space. It does have a tendency to auto-focus a lot, but that is not a deal breaker for me. I like that it can be attached to a tripod. I use a 42" Sony TV as my computer monitor. Any camera I place on top of it would be looking down at the top of my head. My tripod is always nearby anyway - so this is a good option for me. Shop around - great holiday prices are available at retail stores.

My main disappointment with this product was that, while it purports to support 1080p video, this is not an "out of the box" feature, but one that requires additional equipment. Given what I was lead to believe in the advertisement on the side of the box, this is a substantial disappointment. The device itself operates well, including with third party programs, not withstanding some issues with the focus in low-light conditions. The physical set-up for standing the camera was a nice choice, beating the option of clamps without question. On the whole good, but not great, particularly not for the price.

As noted by others, this webcam is not really 1080p with the built in software. You can take a photo at that resolution but video isn't possible. Even at 720p, the quality isn't that great as the picture tends to be jumpy. However, the image quality and light performance are excellent, particularly at lower resolutions. The included software is skimpy, particularly in comparison to offerings from competitors such as Logitech. With the combination of the resolution limits and a rather slow autofocus its hard to see this being useful in creative application. This is a good product but it doesn't live up to its billing.

I bought this camera because I do a lot of webchatting. This picture is very sharp, but if you move, then the camera re-focuses and it take 2-3 seconds which is very distracting. I'm not impressed with the poor autofocus feature and I'm returning mine.I'm ordered the Logitec HD camera, which is real HD, unlike what this model "claims" to be.

I've had four webcams, three of them from Microsoft. This is the best yet, which is to say the image quality is decent (although not 1080)and the sound is crisp.But it's still a webcam, not a video recorder. Naturally, it's not going to do well in low light. I'd never try to shoot footage on my expensive and capable video cam with the kind of light I and most people use while in front of their monitor, so why should we expect a cheap webcam to do so?You also have to have a computer that can keep up with the requirements of this cam - one of my computer does, the other doesn't. But that's not the cam's fault.

This is the best webcam I have tried.I love the built-in microphone.It is adjustable for different ratios of screen size so can be used on different types of monitors.The clarity of pictures is exceptional and I like the special effects of different faces.The price thru' Amazon.com and quick delivery were the best that I found.Here, in Canada, the price at local big box stores ran at $120.

This camera is remarkably good for the money. The picture is good and it's easy to install and use. Hubby and I thought it makes sense that you can buy a good webcam at a lower cost, since the computer is doing the processing work and providing the power and whatnot, as compared to a handheld camera that must supply all of its components itself. But we're pleased with this little camera. It is be good for recording reviews, Skype-type applications, and even recording little family videos. Would recommend if someone asked me about webcams.

I own a Logitech HD Pro Webcam C910 with 1080p Video that is so much better than this unit. I have a 2nd computer that I was planning to use this webcam for just chatting, but it seems to distort images. Maybe I am alone in finding this to be a problem, but unless I turn on lights to the brightest setting in the room and surround myself with dazzling light or sit in sunlight, the camera is not worth the current asking price. It will be okay for its intended purpose ... chatting... but not much else. It doesn't seem to take HD videos, at least none that my Mac can utilize.Sorry, not a recommended item.

first off anyone who compares this to the cinema cam is a moron! and the fact that it only does 1080p pics and not video (720P) is clearly written on the box, so again, anyone complaining is a moron! the cam is great, for the price the video is clear and the mic transmits just fine. unless you are willing to pay thousands for studio quality video, then this is the cam for you. works great with windows 7 64bit.

I wanted a basic web cam just to be able to do web chats with family and this is perfect for me. The picture quality is wonderful and the only thing to watch is that you have enough light on so you don't have trouble with low light focus. Its sound is very good and no friction. I did have a little trouble getting it positioned as it wouldn't just clamp on my desktop as I hoped. Otherwise,it is fine and the software was easy to use to install it. Good deal for the price as well.

if you are looking for a dash cam, try the LifeCam,it's great,just hook it up to your laptop and go,only thing that would make this product better would be a remote control!
