I'm a Logitech fan and have been using their products for years now, most recently my beloved Logitech Z Cinema 2.1 system. Unfortunately the USB interface on the Z Cinema started giving me issues recently (couldn't change volume in Mac OS X; audio cutting completely out in Windows 7 x64), so I reluctantly went looking for a replacement 2.1 system. What I love about the Z Cinema - other than its great sound - is its bevvy of features, which includes a USB interface, an intuitive remote control, helpful LED display on the satellites, and the ability to adjust bass and treble separately. Despite Logitech's surprisingly abysmal support of this system after it was released, and the fact that none of their current systems have these same features, I decided to take a chance and pick up the Z623, Logitech's current flagship system.First, the positives. The best thing about the Z623 is undoubtedly its subwoofer: it's remarkably powerful and accurate with lower frequencies, and is a noticeable improvement over the Z Cinema sub, which didn't have much definition below 80hz. This sub is closer in quality to home theater subs and better than anything I've heard in the 2.1 computer speaker segment. You WILL shake the roof with this thing. Also in the Z623's favor is its build quality. I can't complain about the cables, knobs or the construction of the satellites or sub. I do think the satellites are oddly shaped but that's just preference. Third, it's great that Logitech included a pair of RCA inputs on the sub. This allows for tons of different devices to be hooked up, like an external audio interface, which will give you superior audio quality compared to your computer's built-in sound card.Unfortunately that's where my praise ends. While I do love the sub, the bass is way too dominating compared to the other frequencies. Sure, it's easy enough to tone down with the bass knob, but the fact that it's as loud as it is at only 50% volume is indicative of an overzealous engineering team. I use my computer speakers primarily to listen to music, and more bass is not always a good thing, as music requires balance and clarity. As many other reviewers have rightly stated, the mids are relatively non-existent here, though that is almost always the case with computer speakers. For rich, accurate mids, you'll have to move up to studio monitors or hifi speakers. And as for the highs, I am surprised to say that the high end - described by many on Amazon as "crisp" and "detailed" - is considerably more muffled than my older Z Cinema speakers. Unlike the Z Cinema's dual-speaker array, the Z623 satellites only have one midrange speaker - there's no separate tweeter for the high frequencies. When I pushed the high frequencies with an equalizer, the Z623 sounded harsh and fatiguing. The lows were still great and the low-mids decent, but everything above a few hundred hertz just didn't sound right to me. It doesn't help that the Z623 lacks a treble control - that could have greatly improved its performance in different applications. For the record I A/B'ed these two sets of speakers extensively for two nights before arriving at these conclusions (going from my MacBook Pro's headphone output jack to the aux input jacks on both systems - no DAC or audio interface in between). Listening to the same content on both - primarily electronic dance music and video game soundtracks - I can easily say that I prefer the sound of the Z Cinema, which I can summarize as being brighter, more open, and subsequently more detailed. The Z623 certainly beats it in the way of bass and loudness, but that's not all I'm looking for in this kind of speaker system. Interestingly, the Z623 is only 20 watts stronger than the Z Cinema, and it's all in the subwoofer. Logitech really did not make any advances in the satellite speakers and in fact I think they took a step back. It seems to me that Logitech wanted to go all out on something that would rattle the roof on games and movies. As a result, the Z623 is a system that might wow on first listen, but doesn't hold up under scrutiny. I have to conclude that a lot of the gushing praise I read about this system on Amazon comes from people who had extremely poor sound beforehand or do not have much experience with quality speakers in general. Don't buy based on the quantity of reviews, but quality!Ultimately I decided to lose $22 and return the Z623 to Amazon. I'm back to using my Z Cinema (via 1/8" aux due to the USB problem) but will be purchasing the Harmon Kardon Soundsticks III system this weekend, which is regarded by several reputable sources as the best 2.1 computer system under $200. Of course audio is a subjective thing, and my review will probably not be embraced by many, but trust me when I say I did my homework, I compared the products and I came out unimpressed with the Z623. I would recommend looking elsewhere in this price range.

First of all I do not work for Logitech. Had to say that. Sometimes I wonder. Now that we've got that out of the way here is my review. This is my 3rd logitech 2.1 speaker system and I can tell you each one has been better than the other. The first one is still working but only one channel. The reason is my son used it for his cell phone to listen to his music but always played it at the highest setting. After 3 years one channel finally gave out, but the one that still works sounds fine. It only cost me $40 so I didn't sweat it. (I did try to save the unit by telling my son not to put it close to the highest setting for hours but you know how teens are.) The second one was an upgrade to the first one and I used it for my big screen TV. It worked fine until the 1/8' plug for TV broke. I tried to replace it but the wiring is so fine it will take a while to rewire. This time my son used his cell phone on it and tryed to not overpower it for long periods of time but pulled the wire and not the plug to unplug it from the TV to his phone. Lesson learned? I don't but now I have bought the Logitech Z623. The best part is my son can connect his cellphone with it's own cable and have one plug for the TV, one for the computer and one for the Xbox simultaeously as well. (Not all on at the same time of course. Well maybe the TV and the cell phone lol) Good thinking guys.Wow they weren't kidding when they said the bass rocked. Almost seemed like they open up a new dimension when they created this bass amplifier. I keep mine in the entertainment cabinet on a small towel. It seems to stop things from vibrating elsewhere and still give it a large bass sound. I've seen videos on "You Tube" showing the power from the bass speaker by attaching a small paper to it. It will blow the dust off your your shelf unit. The bass control on the satellite speaker works great compared to the last one I had which had the bass control on the bass speaker on the floor. A little inconvenient under the computer desk. Thanks for that little addition guys. Although I would have liked mid range and upper range controls I'm sure that would have increased the price considerably. Besides the upper and mid range work well together and if you have a computer you can use the computer to adjust these ranges as well. The highs, middles, and lows are all well balanced and sound terrific. I have been a recording artist for over 30 years and have recorded in the best recording studios in the New York, California (LA and San Fransisco), Oregon, Massachusetts, I could go on and on but my point is these speakers have a unique clarity and character all their own. My ears can attest to that.I have read many reviews on this item which convinced me to buy it. Many classical lovers didn't like it for the mear fact that it didn't sound live. If you want live, spend hundreds of dollars more and get a Bose system. I know no other to compare, but if you want a fantastic speaker system for middle of the road bucks read no further. The only other thing I would like to add is the sound you hear is the product of the information sent into the system. If you use a computer for your music you can use the equalizer functions in the software to change the sound to whatever you like. These speakers are very adaptable to a variety of music. We listen to just about everything you can imagine. The only thing you may not get is the sound of the bow on the violin, or the fingers sliding on the electric guitar or the inhaling of an opera singer before an aria, but you will get an awesome musical experience. Hoping you enjoy these speakers as much as we are in my house.

I couldn't find any reviews from Logitech Z4 owners, so I decided to take a leap and tell you all about it. First off for those of you who don't know, the Logitech Z4 2.1 system was the "mid-grade" and right under the infamous Z-2300. The Z4 remains one of the best mid-grade speaker systems ever made by Logitech. I've owned and liked the Z4 for the past 3 years but I wanted something more... I wanted more mids, more highs and of course, more bass. I was going to go the Z-2300 route and buy them used (since they are out of production as of this review). However, I wanted a system with a warranty, so I decided to pick the Z623. I never listened to the Z-2300, so I can't comment how they compare.Looks:At first glance, the Z623 feels like a more expensive system. Looks wise, they are ugly. The Z4's look more elegant. The Z623 speakers have that upside down raindrop look to them. What were Logitech thinking with this design?? The satellites took up a lot more space width and depth wise, but thats ok since the bigger drivers on the Z623 delivered more rich sound. The satellites felt expensive and did not feel cheap at all. They are made of plastic, but the hard expensive plastic feel. I also like how the satellite speakers have a metal grill protecting the drivers. On the Z4, nothing is protecting them. So the risk of damage is a lot higher. I was always paranoid around the Z4 satellite speakers for that reason. Now with the Z623, those anxieties are gone.Overall Sound:Regardless of looks, the most important part is the sound. Since the Z4's already produced great sound quality, it would take a lot to impress me, and luckily these did! First the bass hits hard and low. At the same volume level, the Z623 packed more bass. If you love bass, and need bass, this is the system for you. The bass is accurate and more boomy then the Z4's. Keep in mind the sub-woofer speaker is much bigger then the Z4's. The Z4's lacked mids and I heard the Z623 lacked mids as well. Comparatively speaking, the Z623 delivered more mids then the Z4 and I was quite relieved. I play games and listen to music and was able to hear small details I didn't hear with my Z4 and now I hear them with the Z623 because the Z623 has improved mids over the Z4 (as it should for being almost 2X more expensive...) One of the important things I look for in speakers is the highs. I want to be able to hear the bullet shells drop on the ground in Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3. I want to be able to hear the trees ruffling in Skyrim. I read a couple of reviews that said the Z623 lacked highs. I disagree. The Z623 does highs wonderfully, and I think if it was any brighter, I would have to tone them down in the EQ on my PC. Even though the Z623 does not have a separate tweeter, the Z623 delivered more highs then the Z4. It was more bright and it met my expectations for highs. FYI: Some people thing where the THX symbol is on the speaker are tweeters, but they are not. They are ports, not tweeters. Like I said, even though the speakers lack tweeters, the drivers were still able to produce very bright highs (more then the Z4). Overall, the sound on the Z623 are much better. The Z623 sound more full and rich. What I mean by this is, I was able to hear small details in the mid and highs that I didn't hear with the Z4.Also note, after about a couple days of usage, the sound started to get better. The mids and lows (sub woofer) started to sound better. Keep in mind like most speakers, it takes some time and use to loosen the coils. After about 4 days, the speakers sounded awesome. I was a bit nervous at first because the speakers didn't sound full.Sound with music:I listen to everything from techno to rap and everything in between. Music was accurate and anything with bass you could feel it. Listening to music on the Z623 breathed new life into all of my music. The Z4's played them well, but the Z623 sound range just made everything sounded more alive and in front of you, if that makes any sense.Sound with gaming:I do a lot of gaming, so sound is just as important as graphics to me. If the sound is not good, the game play suffers because if you can't hear the foot steps behind you, or a dragon coming to get you. With the Z4, the sound was great, but with the Z623, the sound is even better! When I was playing BF3, I heard more detail in the explosions. Even when reloading my weapon, I heard extra "clicking" sounds of the gun that I did not hear with the Z4. In Starcraft 2, I was able to hear more detail with the workers were mining for minerals. When playing Skyrim, the sound of the dragon fire coming towards you comes with intensity and depth that the Z4 couldn't deliver due to lack of mids. Even though the details are small, that make a huge difference because it just enhances the experience and the detail.Usability:At first, I was sad to see Logitech took the cheap route and not offer a separate pod to control the volume. I really liked how the pod worked on the Z4

.AS OF 2/4/13...I bought the item refurbished from a seller named Pandora. I received it today, but I can't use it. The cable connector on the right speaker and the connector on the subwoofer are both "male" (the speaker cannot be plugged into the subwoofer). Since the right speaker controls on/off and volume, the unit cannot be used.It was advertised as "like new". It was NOT. Aside from the major defect described above, the subwoofer grill was dented and scratched, and the subwoofer was dented on its corners and edges.Another warning: As of this review, there is a notice on Amazon that says "Special Shipping Information: This item cannot be returned to Amazon.com." The notice is several lines below the price. Amazon has this item listed as a "hazardous material". I used Amazon chat and talked to a rep. She was very nice. After a few minutes of checking, she issued me a full refund. She was also very surprised that a speaker set would be listed as a hazardous material, and she is going to check with their fulfillment center to see why. If you check other websites like J&R, Newegg, Staples, Logitech, then you'll see that none of them have a special "no returns notice" due to hazardous material.Like a few other folks, I didn't see the "no returns" notice on the page before buying...partly because I had just purchased/returned a different speaker set from Amazon (I returned it because I didn't like how it sounded). Thankfully, Amazon gave me a refund on this defective item.I still plan on buying it, and when I do, I'll update this review with product details.AS OF 2/23/13...Since Amazon still has "no returns" for this item as described above, I purchased it from J&R for 117 bucks, where they allow returns. I received this item yesterday (very fast shipping and delivery), and I really like it. It replaces standard PC speakers that I've been using for years (and those speakers were pretty good, but lacked bass). Prior to purchasing the Logitech Speaker System Z623, I tried Cyber Acoustics Subwoofer Satellite System (CA-3602a), but was disappointed and returned it (see my 2-star review for that item, if you're interested). For me, the Logitech Speaker System Z623 is a WOW product. I tried it with music (100 Best Hymns) and with a game (Mass Effect 3 Digital Deluxe Version [Download]. I can hear highs, mids, and lows. And the bass...WOW. I have the bass at the default setting (in the middle), and there is plenty of bass at that setting. Music sounds beautiful (organ music sounds like the organ is in the room, and there is a hint of vibration). In the game, when a grenade explodes or I fire a shotgun, it really packs a punch sound-wise...and that makes gaming more fun.I read several reviews that talked about cheap cable connections that break, but they must have fixed that problem. The 2 desktop speaker cables are thick, and the end connectors are sturdy. The cable between the system and the PC is a standard small PC speaker cable, but that's what I would expect. My speakers are setup and left alone...I don't move them around regularly, so I don't expect any problems with the cables or the connections. The controls on the right desktop speaker are easy to use. On the side of the right speaker, there is a headphone jack and an input jack (where you can plug-in an iPod). The subwoofer also has standard right/left RCA connectors on the back.I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I purchased a set of these for my mum who was using an old Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 set from ~2004/2005 that finally went out. These were perfect for her computer room's constraints, and since she was using the Klipsch as a 2.1 anyway, there wasn't really a huge difference in terms of footprint.First, I'll say this much: These speakers, for their size and price, are very, very impressive. Sure, they don't come quite as close to the ProMedia 5.1s in bass (I didn't expect they would, but they are VERY close with very powerful bass), but I have read other reviews that they're comparable to the current Klipsch 2.1s which, like the Logitechs, have a single subwoofer driver. The primary difference between the Klipsch 2.1s and these seems to be in the mid/high range where the single-driver satellites of the Logitechs fall off a bit in frequency response. Likewise, the base reproduction isn't quite as good as the much larger Z-5500 which is sadly no longer in production, but I'll be honest: It comes close. For as tiny as the sub seems compared to the 5500s, it packs a surprising punch. Yes, audiophiles, I'm sure its frequency response doesn't go nearly as deep, but for the average consumer these things are fantastic!Hilariously, I wasn't expecting a lot when I took some time off to set them up, so as soon as I turned on some music to give these a trial run, I was astounded that something so small could produce the bass it does! The subwoofer's driver isn't terribly large (7 inch, I think?) compared to the dual 8" drivers of the Klipsch 5.1s and the 10" of my Z-5500, but from the purely economic and somewhat subjective perspective of sound-output-per-dollar, it delivers. I'd definitely recommend these speakers if you're looking for something that has a decent amount of power, especially in the low range, but isn't nearly as expensive as other options. Also, the satellites look nice, and the sub is mounted in what feels like particle board rather than plastic as is common in MUCH cheaper options. Plus, setup is also very easy, and I'm pretty sure my mum could manage putting this set together on her own if she had to!If you're not much of an audiophile and are just looking for a relatively inexpensive (but good!) set of speakers that don't take up much room, these are perfect. The sub is somewhat largish compared to the driver size--though only about 2/3rds the size of the Klipsch and probably half that of the Z-5500s--but it should fit under or near most desks relatively well. Other reviews complained a bit about cable length, but if you've got the sub stuffed near the sound source I can't imagine it would be an issue--especially if they're used as computer speakers. Oddly, these have RCA inputs for L/R auxiliary channels on the sub, so I'd imagine these might be useful as an inexpensive 2.1 setup for movies or the likes; though, there's no HDMI, coax, or optical (and at this price, you'd be silly to expect it). These are definitely an excellent choice if you're pressed for space, and the sound reproduction is very good for their modest size. My only complaint is that the volume control is quite stiff, and my mum has osteoarthritis in her thumbs. She can turn the knobs without trouble but it might be of concern to anyone who has similar problems. One word of warning: The set appears to ship thinking it's powered on, so I'd suggest plugging in the satellites including the one with the control group (it's the one with a large serial-type cable, though somewhat similar in appearance to a DSUB connector) before plugging the sub into a power source. If you don't, you'll hear a few very startling pops. I'm not sure if that's bad for the speakers, but I wouldn't risk it again! Oh, and don't forget to break them in for a few hours as you would with most speakers.

Hello everyone,I'm a college student who is looking for affordable speakers that sound great. I currently have a Cosmio G50 laptop that comes with built in Harmon/Kardon speakers (I could not find the exact specifications unfortunately). As a result the sound quality on my laptop is pretty good, for a laptop. The highs and mids are fairly clear but the bass is lacking (especially with certain songs). Hence I decided to shop around for speakers. After reading rave reviews of the Logitech Z-2300 and hearing that the Z-623 is the best successor of the 2300s, I decided to purchase the 623s. Before I continue with the review, however, I would like to point out that I used these speakers solely for listening to music. I tested the system listening to a variety of genres, including artists such as: Fleet Foxes, The Strokes, Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers, Phonn Jaxx, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, Grizzly Bear, De La Soul, and A Tribe Called Quest.Right off the bat, after setting the 623's up and connecting it to the computer, I was blown away by the sheer power of the system; the first song I played on it was Sensual by Phonn Jaxx. I was sure that my neighbors downstairs could hear the powerful sub as it was clearly shaking my room. I listened to a few other songs and seemed satisfied with the system. However, as time went on I started to listen more critically to the way my songs sounded. I realized after about 2 weeks of listening that the main reason why I was so satisfied by the system, at the start, was because of the sheer increase of volume that it provided compared to my laptop speakers. But I soon found some "faults" with the sound of the 623's as I let my music library play.My biggest gripe was that the mid range of all songs were almost non-existent. This may or may not be a problem for some listeners, but once I picked up on the lack of mid-range I found that I could not easily ignore it. As a reference to see if the mid ranges were really lacking I listened to the same song using my SRH 440 over-ear headphones (which I highly recommend if your also looking for headphones). Furthermore with some songs the highs felt tinny and in some ways compressed. Moreover the high range could be at times shrill; painful to my ear at least. The jangly guitars of The Smith's became an earache. The bass was pretty good. I never had it turned up higher than the main volume knob though because I liked to keep my sound in balance. It can be room shaking loud if you need it, or loud enough to comfortably listen to your songs without having it overpower everything else (I personally am not a bass junkie, but I'm sure that this system could easily satisfy standards of bass junkies). In order to compensate for the lack of mid range and the shrillness of the high's, I altered the EQ settings on my itunes to see if that would help. To some extent it did, but the mid's still weren't rich sounding and it seemed another price to pay for changing the EQ settings was sacrificing the sound stage of the system (and to be honest I wasn't too too impressed with the sound stage of the system with a flat EQ setting).Overall I, personally, wasn't too impressed with the system. I am looking for accurate sound reproduction, great sound quailty, good sound stage, and balance throughout all ranges. Unfortunately the Logitech Z-623's didn't satisfy my desires. I found that at times listening to my music became a hassle, as I had to constantly tweak the EQ or turn nobs in order to get the sound to sound good. Which ulitmately took away from the realxing and pleasant feeling I get when listening to music with my headphones and even my laptop speakers. As a result I decided to return the system, and am looking for something new. HOWEVER, this does not mean that the system may not be right for you. If your looking for a cheap 2.1 system to watch movies with this system may fit the bill just fine. Or if you find that you can overlook the gripes that I had with the system then this system may work fine. My best advice before you purchase it would be to listen to the system with your music, if possible. If not then definitely keep the original packaging that the speakers came with because you may find yourself returning them (which is not a bad thing at all, it just means your shopping for a speaker system that satisfies your ears).Thank you all, I hope your hunt for great sound is fruitful.

These speakers are bad-a _ _ ! I went through a couple of bad purchases and returns until I decided on buying these babies. Got some cheap Colby mp3 speakers. What garbage! Tinny sound and after only five minutes of use the wires started to smell like they were burning. Those went in the garbage because I did not buy through Amazon. Got Bose Companion II speakers at a famous electronic store in NYC. Hor-ri-ble! I thought Bose was supposed to be so wonderful???? Those speakers got packed back in the box after a half hour. I thought that I might get used to them eventually but then, why should I have to do that? Back they went the very next day.So I did what I should have done in the very beginning....I went to Amazon and looked at every speaker system they had and read customer reviews until my head was about to explode. Then I made an informed decision and chose the Logitech Z623 Speaker System. The box itself was heavy. I asked myself what the heck is in here? The sub-woofer came out first. I thought, that sucker is huge! The I unpacked the speakers. I said out loud, OMG. These speakers are ....really big. Oh man, I could already picture my neighbors knocking on my door to complain about the noise. The hook up was so easy. All the wires were long enough so that I could position everything exactly as I needed without having to disturb my present set-up. That is important to me because I finally managed to get all the wires and whatever situated to one side of my computer desk so I had a clean a look as I could with all wires, modem, tower, etc. that come with desktop computers.(Got the cool modern looking wood/glass computer desk from Amazon, too!) Finally, I choose one of my favorite songs, turned on the speaker system and turned up the volume. As soon as the music began playing I knew for sure my neighbors would very unhappy should I choose to ramp up the volume and base. I wish I didn't care but I am a good neighbor. My ultimate test is to listen to Pat Methany's Live concert version of "First Circle". I sat back and closed my eyes. I really felt as if I were in the audience. A big satisfied smile spread over my face. I'm in love with these speakers. My only regret is that I may never be able to open these babies up to their fullest. I know the neighbors will have the cops at my door. Those freakin' neighbors!!!!Great speakers, great price....buy them NOW!!!!!!!I'm no audiophile but I was very impressed with the all-over sound. I would have no problem or embarrassment using this system at a party. I know the sound would blow people away.

All computers have their own internal speakers, but the sound is fair to poor with no bass or impact.Enter Logitech (a reputable company that makes most computer accessories) and their recent offering of a 2.1 speaker system tries to compensate for the PC"s poor internal speaker sound with a more dynamic, true sound,Logitech offered these 2.1 systems for quite a few years. They consisted of 2 satellite desktop speakers, and an attached subwoofer with a substantial 200 watts of power. The latest, the Z623 speaker system, once connected to the computer , gave the PC sound the impact, bass, and dynamic sound that was a departure from the flat PC sound. The big drawback was the soldering of all the components and cables together , so there was no way to change cables, to change speakers. To check the various components (speakers, integrity of cables, the subwoofer...If you encountered a problem , you coulsn'r ISOLATE the problem. You had to disconnect the system from your computer and SEND it back to logitech, which would send you a new or refurbished set.. So , say you stopped getting sound from R speaker: you want to disconnect or check the cable to the speaker, but you CAN'T isolate the problem as the cable is permanently attached to the fixed main cable that led to the subwoofer. You call logitech, and they tell you disassemble the entire system with the attached subwoofer, pack it in the box and send it back to logitech, and they'll replace your entire system... So you count your blessings every morning , that the system works, and that both spearkers, and subwoofer work. But if you wake up one morning, and the volume control doesn't work. you're in trouble, because your NEXT TROUBLESHOOTING step would be to DISCONNECT and SEND logitech THE WHOLE SET and they'll send you a new one.. BUT you may have to wait A COUPLE OF WEEKS.I HAD this problem twice with LOGITECH speaker systems...And it was a hassle having to disconnect THE SYSTEM, pack it,, and send it back to Logitech. I could have rectified the problem if I was able to separate each component and determine where the problem is.When the Logitech System was working, it definitely left your PC internal speakers , in the dust. Bass was just right, midrange sound produced by the twin satellites was adequate, but highs were somewhat blunted. And there was no treble control to brighten the highs. So , sound was much better and much more powerful than the PC sound, but lacked the crispness of highs and no treble controls to compensate for this shortfall.Logitech could make this a great product if they had each speaker connected with speaker wires to amp, and locate the amp on desktop with a treble control, and each satellite speaker wire connected separately to amp.. The way it is now I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND IT. You are better of getting a 20 watt amp with tone controls (lepai has a small 20 watt amp with tone controls) , and output for 2 good high freq speakers, pair of speaker wires, and a medium size subwoofer. It's a simple connection and can be gotten for under $130.

I am a logitech fan and have heard Z3 which are own by family member. Before this I got Cyber Acoustics Subwoofer Satellite System (CA-3602a) but returned it for lack of quality beats and clear sound (loudness was ok). And before that I got Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System with Subwoofer but return it for lack of enough volume and obviously not good enough quality. So while I heard a lot of praise here and the top video review is simply amazing. I bought this based on that review. But my speakers did not sound *that good*. I was skeptical did I get a fake product. But then the seller was Amazon so I highly doubt that unless it really is fake.My comparison will mostly be with Z3 since I love the sound of Z3, the crisp clear sound, deep soft beat, awesome vocals. Now these speakers may appear small but they have a lot of sound. Here are the pros and cons comparing to Z3-Cons - The voice is a little bit thick. It does not have that originality. It is more of a theater sound. - There is no shrillness control. I really do not need that but the voice is just a bit thick and not that *enjoyable* - While I heard a lot of praise here for clearity, the sound clarity, beats and vocals are not as clear as that of Z3 but then I may be wrong. - These speakers has really good beats, but then the beats of Z3 are much better (I dare to say). They are like soft pushy and clear. These ones are good but not as good as Z3.+Pros + Great theater like sound + It is fun to watch any program using these speakers, even documenataries. It makes a difference. I use it with my macbook pro + These speakers will shake your room. + You may not enjoy your car audio, once you start listening to these speakers.Overall I can *live* with it as the beats and sound is otherwise good and watching documenataries with these speakers is enjoyable. But music with these speakers are not as enjoyable as with Logitech Z-3 Wood Grained 2.1 Speakers. The clarity, vocals and beats of Z3 is simply great. Note that Z3 is very old model and not available.

My old creative I-trigue speakers were finally starting to die out on me after 5 years of pretty heavy use so I had to make a decision on which sound setup i wanted to go with for my gaming/music pc. Initially i was going to go with a home theater in a box set up, particularly the onkyo ht-s3400 refurbs that ive seen floating around relatively cheap. The problem I have is I have a small z-line computer desk and a fairly large 27 inch flat panel monitor on it. Ive got roughly 4 inchs or so on either side of the monitor to work with so i had to go with something that had a fairly small footprint for the satellite's, or kick out additional money for a larger desk. In the end I narrowed it down to these logitechs because comparative reviews showed they were very close in audio quality and volume to most of their competition in this space, the satellites would fit on my desk, and they semi-regularly go on sale for 99 bucks if you keep a close eye on amazon. After picking these up on sale in early July, I've had a few weeks to play a variety of music and games on the z623's and get a feel for the quality of the sound and build. I have to say, for 100 bucks these are definately worth it particularly if your primary focus is gaming. With the bass set at 1/2 and the satellite volume only at about 3/8 my wife was yelling at me to turn these down when I was playing WOW and Diablo III in our tri-levels basement. Explosions, gunshots and special effects all sound very good and clear right up until you get into ear bleed volume. The imaging is very good sitting 4 feet away and these speakers do a great job of providing you that feeling of being right in the middle of the action. Now for the few negatives. If you primarily listen to music on your pc these will do ok in a pinch, but your probably going to want to spend a bit more money and use an actual amp/receiver with bookshelf speakers or a powered 2.1 setup that has 2 way satellite speakers like the swan m10 or corsair sp-2500. Its not that these sound bad, just a bit flat and muted, particularly on higher notes/frequencies. I was able to play with my sound cards eq settings and get acceptable sound quality (for me) for playing music. For most people though, i expect sound quality will be just fine. Build quality, at least appearance wise is pretty average. The sub does look and feel pretty solid, with a decent steel mesh grill in front of the driver. The satellites though are constructed a bit cheaper by the look of it. They are fairly light and the plastic is rather cheap looking on close inspection. Those are really my only complaints. The z623's are great all around multimedia speakers and I am really enjoying them for gaming and casual music listening. The satellite controls for volume and bass are convenient, sound quality and volume are very good, and at the price i paid for them i think they are an exceptional value.

I had been scoping this and other 2.1 and 5.1 systems over the past year or so. Initially i had seen this at a price of 109.99 on Newegg, but I didn't know enough about it to pull the trigger right away. I've always been happy with Logitech products, so while waiting, I did additional research, liked what I saw, and decided if I saw it at that price again I'd drop the cash. The wait was a lot longer than I expected it to be, but it finally dropped. Signed up for Amazon Prime that day as well and had it on my doorstep the next afternoon for a whopping shipping cost of four bucks. WOO! Broke the speakers in pretty lightly over the next day, and progressively turned the volume up over the course of the next week. They broke in beautifully. I was looking for a smaller-sized system as my apartment is compact. It's pretty easy to set this up as to not obstruct remaining room. The satellites are a bit larger than i expected them to be. (though, the speakers they replaced have absolutely tiny satellites, and do not sound nearly as good). I laid them on their sides in order to not block the TV screen behind them. The sub is HEFTY for its size, and feels well built. Set up was a snap (with the exception of the multiple boxes i had to dig through to get to it lol). The cable lengths are adequate, but not spectacular. Ideally, a sub should sit behind the listener, which is not possible with the amount of cable provided. Nevertheless, so long as you're able to find a free corner in your room, this thing will not disappoint.Watching the new Star Trek movie (which I believe to have the best audio-leveling in recent years), vocals were clear, tense moments SOUNDED tense, and the boom when the Enterprise hit warp speed felt almost as tummy rumbling as it did in the theater.Music is quite decent (movies are admittedly better), but despite how loud the sub can get, the vocals and other instruments are never drowned out by the bass. The controls are simple, yet functional: power button, volume knob, bass knob. The bass knob "clicks" into place at 50% full volume, which i feel is more than enough for this setup. And turning it down to 0 will make your neighbors not hate you if you decide to watch a late movie. Vocals definitely lack depth in that scenario, but it's better than a call from the landlord :).A buddy was looking for a similar set up, and when he heard these, he bought a set as well (copy cat! :P ), and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these to anyone needing a quick, affordable speaker system.

Our computer is our only source of media (music, movies, shows) in our two story house. I finally had to replace a 10 yr old set of altec lansing thx 5.1 speakers. I had no desire to spend $300-$400 if I didn't have to, but my standards were pretty high coming off of the old speakers (I could blast music through both floors with the volume set at 20%). I live in a very rural area, so testing speakers at the store is not an option. Reading online reviews only made my head spin. So after a couple of weeks of reading reviews and going in circles, I found that one of the two big discount stores in our area had a free shipping promotion, so I ordered the three speakers in the title (3 among the top 5 I had narrowed it down to for under $200 and were available at that one store) and figured if I didn't like any of them, I could take them all back to the store without penalty and then jump up to the next price bracket. Thankfully the Z623's are perfect for our needs. We've had them for three weeks so I've watched shows and movies (including Platoon) and listened to various types of music both soft and loud and our family is very happy, impressed even, with the sound quality.I am not an audiophile, but I do like my music to have a nice sound and to listen to it loud and it needs to travel to various rooms (especially the kitchen which is the next room). The z506's and the t40's were just too weak for our needs. I'd say they had decent sound quality, but as I could tell immediately they were way too weak to hear while I was in the kitchen, I boxed them back up immediately without testing them further. The t40's appeared to be more physically durable and could go louder than the z506's, and probably sounded a bit better, but again, didn't really try them out much. On the other hand, when I turn the z623's up to about 50%, it is loud enuf for the next room. When I turn in up to about 75%, I can hear them upstairs pretty clearly (with the bass dominating at that distance). I stood in front of them at that volume and did not notice any weird sounds or distortion. For not being 5.1 speakers, they really do have excellent surround-sound-like quality for movies. The volume and bass control on the right speaker is nice as this was not a feature my older speakers had.If you want good quality, good sounding, powerful speakers but don't want to spend too much money, these are definitely worth trying out before shelling out over twice as much money.

I had grown quite tired of cumbersome underpowered speakers for my PC, and really wanted a setup I could place on the floor to save desk-space. Naturally, I wanted to get better sound quality and a Sub when I was shopping, and picked these against other 2.1 speakers in the $100-$200 range. They work exactly as they should, with the only slightly akward part being the thick cable of the control speaker. As discussed by other reviewers, the cables aren't terribly long. The distance you can place the Left and Right speakers from eachother is limited by them both needing to connect to the Sub, which also must be in range of the PC (or whatever device) via a rather short male-to-male audio cable. If you want more flexibility in setup, buying a longer such cable will help; These tend to be cheap and there is an example in the "frequently bought together" section on this item's page. This gives you more flexibility in placing the Sub, which is the limiting factor in placing the other speakers. I find this to be ideal, as the other 2 speaker cables are long enough to get the job done. The entire setup is centrally located underneath my computer desk but sounds great and doesn't feel "stifled" at all from being beneath me.If you disagree about the speaker cable lengths and want the sound really flying at opposite sides of your head and filling the room, then you are probably looking for a much more expensive 5.1 or 7.1 system. The control speaker also has a headphone jack and aux audio port. The Sub also has standard Red/White stereo audio inputs for using with AV composite or component outputs from devices such as your game consoles.

First of all, I realize that these are designed for use with a computer and NOT a TV. Nevertheless, I bought them to use for my TV since TV speakers blow. I figured anything should be better than my TV speakers.I bought these instead of a sound bar or 5.1 system because:a.) I am a cheapskate and I didn't want to spend $300+ on speakersb.) I have a small living room, so any speakers should suffice (they do)c.) I didn't want to have to deal with a receiverThe bass on the woofer is pretty nice. Should have plenty of rumble to satisfy you. The 2 speakers sound fine. They sound just like the TV speakers, only louder. These perform well enough for the dialogue and for the booming bass. The high and the low, if you will. Where these speakers fall short is in the middle. There is not enough full bodied sound. It doesn't sound complete. Imagine a marching band of 20 flutes and 10 tubas. It wouldn't sound right. You need some mellophones, clarinets and trumpets in there to blend the sounds together. My main point of comparison was the Samsung HW-D350 soundbar that I had previously. These speakers are not quite as good as that sound bar, but then again, they weren't as expensive either.Overall, they work fine, and maybe my 3 star review is a bit harsh, but the sound is just OK. It doesn't blow you away. Then again, is there a $130 speaker system that will blow you away? For use with computer or ipod- 4 starsFor use with TV- 3 starsAlso, I didn't realize this until after I bought them, but they are listed as a "harsh chemical" product (or something like that), so Amazon doesn't allow returns. Even if they are unopened in the box.
