This is not my first printer. It is expensive to operate. Lexmark goes out of their way to not let you use non lexmark ink cartridges. They have manipulated the firmware and printhead through "updates" more than once. In reading other reviews, Lexmark replies but does not address the real issue that their cartridges do not last long (yes the XL ones) and that lexmark goes out of their way to not let you use other brands. Hence, they price gouge. They have a great warranty because they want you to continually buy their over priced cartridges. As a result of them manipulating, you will experience some down time as the firmware updates have hiccups, while you are waiting for them to send you a new printhead or you have to reinstall and and reload the software. There are printhead failures (which result in lexmark having to send a new one) because each new printhead redesign is flawed. It is flawed, because lexmark is so focus on making their printer incompatible with other non lexmark ink cartridges. This printer uses the 100xl for black ink which sells for roughly $28.00 USD. But the 105XL which sells for $5.00USD fits in this printer. They look identical and almost work identical. Lexmark manipulated the 105xl to not work. Do a search and you can find a tedious, but money saving way around this. When it works, the printer does its job. I'll give it that. But, I don't appreciate being deceived and gouged! Shame on you, Lexmark!

I have had this printer for some time now. I have replaced the print head cartridge twice. This is the poorest quality printer I have ever owned. I have had nothing but trouble with it since I got it. I do not recommend this printer to anyone. I have gone through all the troubleshooting help they offer and still have horizontal lines in my black ink. I have exhausted every avenue of help. I do not recommend this product for anyone.

I bought this printer 16 months ago, and now it seems to be absolutely dead. Even when it was working, it seemed that you had to practically beg it to print something for you. It seemed to always need to be re-booted, and then when it started, it seemed to dump about half of its ink during some sort of 'cleaning' procedure. This more than negated any Lexmark claims that this printer 'has the lowest printing cost', or however they have chosen to word their advertising. Within months of getting this printer, the print head needed to be replaced, but even after that, it only offered mediocre performance, and that was on its best days. Also, the color print quality was never very good, as there were almost always 'lines' in the finished printing job. This has been the first and last time that I will every buy a Lexmark product.2/23/13 UPDATE - In order to get at least SOME use out of this product before tossing it in the garbage, I set it to print in black and white only. I made this change many months ago, and even though it has not printed in color in ages (and I think the bad print head [which has been replaced once already] prevents it from doing a good job printing in color) THE PRINTER IS NOW TELLING ME THAT I AM NEARLY OUT OF COLOR INK!!!! This is not only the worst printer that I have ever owned, but it is definitely the worst product I have ever owned.

Never, and I repeat never, buy a Lexmark. First and foremost. They have you download "firmware". They tell you that it's to make the printer perform better. Any download notifications you receive if you purchase this printer, DO NOT MAKE THE DOWNLOAD. What the downloads actually does is make the printer unable to use any aftermarket cartridges and you are stuck where you can ONLY use Lexmark printer cartridges. Lexmark cartridges are extremely expensive compared to aftermarket. Unfortunately, after you download their firmware, you cannot undo the download. In fact, there is a pending investigation which will, hopefully turn into a class action lawsuit for all of us unfortunate folks who did the downloads and were lied to by Lexmark. This is unfair trade practice, and that is what is being investigated at this time. I hope this gives you enough information to stay away from Lexmark, period.

It prints beautifully, the first time, every cartridge. Beyond that, it's a crapshoot. There are times I'll get two or three printings before either blue or yellow clogs up, rendering the whole color cartridge useless, and there are others where I'll buy new cartridges, print something, go back to print something else in a day or two, and again, one color clogged. The black never seems to clog or dry out unless I go weeks or months without use, but the color is useless. Throw in the fact that it has fed paper crooked since day one (bad design on Lexmark's part), and you'll begin to see my frustrations.Also, the two-pack of cartridges costs more than the printer itself. That probably should've been my fist warning.

I work in a hospital laboratory. We have 2 Lexmark 650's for printing results from the instrumentation. On average we have had to replace 1 a year. Either the print quality goes south or the printer starts wrinkling and folding the printouts. On talking with the instrument manufacturers it seems that this is a common problem with this particular model.If you print high volumes stay away from this printer. It's too expensive for the ammount of time it will be usable. I can get mine replaced for free, but $400+ is a lot to pay for a home printer that might fail on you in a year or so.

I guess Lexmark may have quality control issues with the Pinnacle Pro901 AIO printer. The customer reviews mainly fall into two categories: 5-star and 1-star. It means customers are either very happy or very mad. Most of the 1-star reviews are printer-head related issues.I have been using this Pinnacle Pro901 for 8 months now. I assume that's long enough for me to provide some feedbacks.First of all, the Pro901 is big and taking up quite some space for my small study room.Installation is pretty easy as the wireless is almost flawless. I have 5 PCs in various rooms along with 2 laptops. I like that I can print from everywhere in my house. But be careful, if you ever change your network password, you need to "RE-install" the printer to each machine.Also, same as most other network-capable printers, this printer is either in network mode, or in USB mode. You can not connect it to PCs through wireless network and USB cable at the same time.The printing quality is good. This printer has two-side printing capability. Just one minor issue, the paper holder could get stuck once a while when you replaced it after refilling paper.The touchscreen control is clear and easy to use. Very user friendly.The scan function works well. When scanning to computer, the touch screen allows you to pick which computer you want to go to. I have been using a single-function Canon scanner with paperPort software for years for documenting. In comparing with my Canon scanner, the scan quality from this printer is good. I don't have the need to convert scanned files into editable documents. But OCR software is provided with this printer's software package.Cost is one key benefit for using this printer....the $5 black ink cartridge is hard to beat. However, like most of other inkjet based printers, if any of the color ink cartridge runs out, the printer won't print. So, you need to limit the color ink usage to achieve minimum ink expense goal.Like other AIO printers, this printer has the automatic sleep mode. If it sits idle for 30 minutes, the LCD screen and printer go into a sleep mode. It can be easily waken back up when needed, even though the printer is connected wirelessly.I have used other inkjet printers like, HP, Canon, Brothers...etc. I think I am happy with this printer from functions point of view and from on-going ink cartridge cost point of view. I highly recommend this printer for home or small office use. But watch out for the quality control issue.

After reading many recent reviews, all which agreed this was an outstanding printer I decided to try this printer. Some reviewers did not all give this an overall high rating, mainly because at the time of the reviews it was priced at 40% above the HP and Canon similar inkjet options at 400 dollars plus. However, in side by side comparisons this printer was generally rated better for most features, it was just thought by the reviewers to be too expensive. However, at it's current price which has dramatically dropped, possibly as a result of reviewers who did not rank this printer well due to its price, it is a great value. It has a low print cost, excellent copy and scan functions and a great fax. photo copies look great and the text quality is very sharp and clear. Text while very good isn't as deep black as I would like, but it is good and near laser quality. If you just need black and white text, I would however suggest looking at a laser or hp or cannon, as the blackness of their ink/text is a bit more appealing to my eye. This machine is extremely fast, and not too loud. The quality of the fax, scanner and sheet feeder is probably better than the competition at this price point and the software seems to be solid so far, unlike some of the competition. At the time of this review this a great value. It can be found at walmart cheaper with free delivery at the time of this review.

I think the other reviews cover functionality well, so suffice it to say that I am happy with how this printer performs and really love the double sided printing capability. I've had this printer for over a year now and though there have been a few problems with printer heads, I have to give credit to Lexmark's customer service as they always come through for me. Yes, I've had a couple of replacement printer heads (guessing manufacturing quality isn't up to speed) and today I had an alignment problem. Rather than toss me around which is what HP used to do to me (and my bank and so forth), Lexmark is simply sending me a replacement printer! So on one hand, you could question the quality, but when a company backs up their product with such great customer service, then they have earned my loyality. This model may not work for everyone, but I would strongly consider any Lexmark product given that their customer service is second to none!

I have owned this printer for one year, the print head was replaced within a month after purchasing last year and the problems have continued. Continuious lock ups which cause me to have to unplug it to reset all the time ( it goes to sleep and won't wake up), software problems including never getting a PDF to print correctly from a windows or Mac machine, and the latest (which I'm sure is a print head problem AGAIN) every time I use it I have to deal clean it and it only prints ok immediately after the deep cleaning (multiple cartridges changed out, no improvement just wasted money. Give it 2 hours and it needs it again. I HAVE BEEN REALLY DISAPOINTED!!! I bought this printer to replace my HP all n one that died after 5 years, it had its quirks, BUT nothing like this piece of junk!!! It's amazing how bad things have gotten, so I guess I am going to donate this thing to someone (possibly my worst enemy) and buy another HP. Oh and I forgot, not that many are better, but the Indian support center I called when they replaced the printer head, WAS TERRIBLE!!! 2 or 3 hours on the phone to get the head replaced.

I've had this printer for about 2 years. You have to buy cartridges frequently (they are not cheap) because I suspect the ink is drying in the cartridges. We are replacing cartridges even though the indicator says there is still some ink left--it won't print otherwise. We don't get even close to a hundred pages (text only) for each cartridge. This is our first Lexmark printer and it is a disappointment.

After about 3 weeks we are very pleased with this printer...Very easy to set up wireless for both computers in our home and the print quality is very good...Have not had this printer long enough to rate the ink usage or cost in that regard but otherwise we are very happy and pleased with it and would recommend to anyone if you have room in your computer cabinet...It is a bit large and bulky but that did not create a problem for us..

If you want a printer that doesn't do half of what it is supposed to this is the item for you. It is supposed to be wireless but for the life of me I can't get the wifi to work. The biggest gripe I have is the ink. Burns through ink like crazy. One black cartridge may last 100 sheets if you have it on the lowest setting. The printer cuts off the bottom of images and if you are out of the colored inks the darn thing won't let you print in just black.I will never buy a Lexmark printer as long as I shall live. I would give it zero stars but can't.

Avoid lexmark products. Every time I have upgraded the firmware I have regretted it. Each time the printer has become more unresponsive. Now it simply doesn't show up as a wireless printer despite the fact that it worked in this capacity for at least 3 years before the last firmware upgrade. I will never buy another lexmark product as long as I live!!!! Also, the scanner on this only works if you are using windows (sorry mac and linux users). I have had good experience with the workforce, I'm going to try that instead.

Took everything I had to muster up one star since that was my only option. I could go on and on about how awful this printer is, but I will just say it's been a joke since day one. For the times when it did actually kind of print, the quality was substandard at best. The machine really shouldn't be called a printer, because it doesn't fulfill any of your printing needs. I've owned several printers over the years and this isn't even in the same caliber of machines. No comparison. It would never be here if I had read reviews like I do everything before I buy, but it was purchased by my husband as a gift. I guess he hates me. :) It has been 6 months of pure frustration and disappointment trying to endlessly "fix" problem after problem while talking to technical support who you can't understand and who conveniently NEVER have record of me calling for help...despite doing it numerous times. Good luck if you STILL choose to purchase this unique piece of trash. Sorry, but that's the best I could come up with. Oh..and I'm a positive person. Had I not been, this review would have been much more critical. :)

Get this: in order to get a customer service rep to LISTEN to me I had to surrender control of my PC to some guy in some other country. The support rep then installed and ran some EXE's as I watched him remotely scamper around in my computer. What a security disaster! Does that sound fun? Never mind that he had no interest in hearing what steps and results I had already gone through. In the end, he did not conclude that my printhead was shot (google it - it is a notorius problem), he declared that the magenta was low. Never mind that every single cartridge was BRAND NEW lexmark branded ink. Well, in the end they shipped us a black ink; yeah, that $5 one (not the magenta). Not that it would have helped anyway. For all his spastic intrusion into my computer, he didn't get any different results then I had already gotten myself. At BEST our printhead was shot, but he seemed to reeaaally want to come to some other conclusion. Well, even before I had hung up, I knew I was giving up on this costly piece of Lexmark garbage and vowing NEVER to go near this company again. There are lots of options with printer manufacturers - there is no reason to put up with painfully faulty hardware and a support ethic that requires you to surrender your operating system to their staff just to get their audience. Lexmark once had a good name, didn't it?? I would advise to RUN FROM THIS INSULT AND INJURY! NEVER a lexmark again. Wow.

I am only giving this printer one star because zero is not an option. I purchased this printer two years ago because I was tired of spending a fortune on print cartridges. This was advertised as the cheapest printer in terms of replacement cartridges. Well, I have to admit that it is....because this printer DOES NOT EVER PRINT!!! I mean never. I think in two years I have gotten ten pages out of this stupid thing. No wonder it is so cheap!! I see they have discontinued this printer now, so good luck getting help...not that it ever helped anyway.

I did my homework and read a lot of online reviews and this printer was always ranked under the first 3 printers. My guess is that none of the professional reviewers ever plugged this printer in and really tried to work with it. This printer has the worst software I've ever had to deal with and I've setup my fair share of printers. It is arcane, confusing, and inconsistent and lacks features other manufacturers provide. I could not get the scanner to work to initiate scans from my PC. One other annoying "feature" is that if you want to switch from wireless to network printing the machine has to reboot - my 3 years old $50 Brother MF printer didn't need to do that. Print quality was OK but printing itself is very noisy. So, if you're printing a lot and work in small office go get yourself some ear plugs.I ended up sending it back and replaced it with an Epson Workforce 845 printer. So far I'm happy with that one.

We haven't owned a Lexmark printer in the past, but we'd read some good things about this one and liked the nice small footprint for printing, scanning, and faxing in our home office on our Windows 7 HP computer.On the positive side, it mostly works as advertised - for a while.On the negative, I believe that Lexmark took shortcuts on software, firmware, and obviously on support - perhaps in a rush to get this product to retail store shelves. We followed installation procedures carefully with the new printer, and though it worked initially, we had frequent problems with the wi-fi function. On some days, perhaps when the wind blew in just the right direction - the printer would not respond to it's primary directive - it wouldn't print. We tried turning the printer on and off - no good. Only if we re-booted our computer would the printer again begin to respond. It would remain happy for some unspecified period of time before again refusing to print; only a computer re-boot would do! We'll see if it keeps up - we have just downloaded updated firmware.Continuing in the negative category, my wife was pleased to be able to scan many old family photos directly to a USB connected flash drive. Cool feature! But after scanning 3 pictures, it refuses to scan another one. Perhaps another Lexmark Pro705 strike? "Unfair to printer! Unfair to scanner! We won't print! We won't scan!" Really hard to tell why it's initiating work stoppages, only that it does with regularity.Finally my primary issue with Lexmark. When I started trying to sort out the problems with our computer, I found a page that noted there was updated firmware for the Pro705. Great. Downloaded firmware update utility. It failed. Also part of the Lexmark work stoppage? I tried this numerous times, all programs closed, doors open, on my head; wouldn't work. I gave up for a few weeks and decided to attack again after another unscheduled outage. This time I found a Lexmark recommendation to use the installed printer's update program to get the most current software. Great! Simple to find the program under the "Lexmark Programs" on my Windows 7 machine. Ran the update program as suggested. "You have updates. Downloading 4 Files." Yeehaaw! Hang on.... "Download failed" Are you beginning to see the Lexmark trend now?More on-line research on the support site for Lexmark. Finally found a page that referred to a known issue with the printer software and firmware that was shipped with my computer. I was assuming that this was all shipped with my computer AFTER it had been tested for functionality and stability. That would be an incorrect assumption. The Lexmark web page basically says, "if you installed the printer with the software we shipped, you need to uninstall everything and start over." Don't belive me? Direct quote:"If you used one of the original CDs from the above list you need to uninstall the driver, then download and install the latest version for Windows 7 from Lexmark website."[...]So finally, I find out what to do! Start over! We'll see how this update works out - but it doesn't change the fact that you get dragged through the thorny underbrush by Lexmark before you even have a chance to get this product to work correctly. That's bad enough, but since I registered with Lexmark, I would have loved for them to send me an e-mail letting me know how badly screwed up my software and firmware was for this product.Now the bottom line - I'd recommend looking past Lexmark and explore other brands - any other brands!

i love almost everything about this printer, the scanner works great, the print quality is good, it's fast, I like the duplexing option. The UI needs some shortcuts for email scanning, but other than that the only thing that I don't like is the fact that it is never working.I mean i can get it working, and when it's working i like it but it takes the following steps.1. try printing several times2. unplug, replug in the printer3. reboot computerif I forget 3 i can't print. Why do I have to reboot my computer? It queues and after the printer power cycles it doesn't help. As soon as my pc gets logged in it will kick off the print job. My wife hates this, and so do I. I generally rarely reboot, it is a big PITA. I'm going to try to put the power on a timer so it cycles regularly, but this is really a terrible solution.My firmware is up to date, the only thing solution I've seen is the power timer.

It worked great for the first ink cartridge. Then I bought more. I even bought the Lexmark brand to be safe, but if it sat for a few months between prints, it had to cleaned and aligned, which just wasted most of the ink. This kept happening so I bought a generic refill to save money. It worked great for the first few prints - it sat for a few days then nothing. I just can't get the darn thing to print black no matter what I try. If any one of your 4 colors is low it will refuse to print. That's the real scam.

Superficially, this printer is a feature-packed all-in-one for the price. Duplex printing, scanning, an amazing touch screen, adjustable paper tray, slots for memory cards, etc. You can read about all the great features by scrolling up. My only positive addition to all that info is that set-up was blissfully easy on my Mac. The printerhead and cartridge installation gave me no problems and the Lexmark Setup Assistant instructions were clear, with diagrams and text. In addition, enabling wireless printing on my home network was similarly painless.I really wanted to like this printer. I really did. $4.99/black cartridge and $4.50/black cartridge if you buy the 105XL two-pack at Staples... Staples employee was honest about the color cartridges being priced higher than average, but "at only $4.99/black cartridge, it's still cost-effective."The SmartSolutions "apps" were functions that existed as buttons on my old Canon MX310. I found it funny that a shortcut for a Black and White copy was considered an app. I could go on, but that's not my main gripe here.The first doc I printed was 16 pages long. A few clicks, Apple + P, a change of quality to QUICK, Two-sided printing selected... I waited. I picked it up. I grimaced. Was smearing normal for a new printer these days? My old Canon MX310 that I had traded in had never gone through smudging like this. I changed the quality to BEST, and actually selected the type of paper I was using before printing this time. Smearing AGAIN! I let the printer rest, geared up another doc, printed... and this time was just horrible. All of the diagrams and text on all the pages except for the first were washed out at NORMAL quality. After all of this strife, I came to the conclusion that the two-sided printing (when the printer maneuvers the paper to print on the other side) smears the black ink. What is the point of duplex printing if the printer smears the text on the first side!?A quick Google search of this printer revealed that other users had severe problems with the cheap (in price and quality) black ink smearing as well. A scan of various forums has led me to believe that I have either a faulty ink cartridge(s) or a defective printhead. If my Staples easy 14-day return policy had already expired, I would definitely contact Lexmark for a replacement. After making the mistake of falling for marketing gimmicks, I will stay FAR FAR away from anything with that insidious Lexmark logo.

I had my confirmations saved on my old yahoo mail account which I recently had to close because it got infected.I recently went to the local Target and Best Buy and they had no Lexmark printers. I wonder if this is because they're return ratio is high?
