I've purchased this printer as replacement for an HP printer, tempted by cheap black cartridge #905 (ca $ 5.00). This "energy star" printer saves (??) energy, but ruins my health, whenever I try tu use it... I takes minuts to start it, if its off or in sleep mode - "energy saver", blah, blah, blah. It's OK if you use it to print directly, or from its scanner, but if u want to use it from the computer, it does not exist. It needs jump start (besides problems mentioned above). I disconect all cables in the back of it, put them back, and there you go, 1 print job will be done!!!! What a success. Try to print once again out of the computer, and ... see above. Lately I intended to print something direct from the printer (for prints out of the computer I keep using my really old HP Deskjet 6540, I fill cartridges by myself), I lifted cover to put document on the screen, I've heard little noise, just to realize, that little piece of plastic from hanger on left side cracked. Now to use this great Lexmark printer I have to press left back corner with some 10 lb weights - not surprise little skinny piece of plastic, stressed by tension gave way. It seems this Lexmark Pinnacle Pro 901 printer will and up, as some other Made in China electronics ed up in my house - thrown to the concrete driveway from steps in front of my house.

My X6650 is about a year old. Works good except for the Power Saver will not wake up wirelessly. What's the point of Wireless access, if it goes to sleep after 4 hours and then won't even communicate? (The menu has no disable for Power Saver, which turns off the WiFi receiver apparently. The sleep timer setting only goes up to 240 minutes, so if you wait more than 4 hours between printing, the WiFi turns off and then the printer is unreachable). So, everytime I want to print something wirelessly I get a "no wireless commenication" error, so I have to walk across the house to press the Power button to wake it up. I know my SSID, WPA2 keys and all that are set up correctly, because the WiFi light comes on immediately after pressing the blinking power button, and it promptly connects to my laptop (blinking power indicator indicates sleep mode).I searched the manual, Lexmark's website, dnd Google looking for a way to keep the WiFi connection alive - nada. I don't understand why they don't leave the WiFi on, and wake up the rest of the printer when my laptop connects!Never had too many jamming or double-feeding problems with the document feeder in copier and scanner mode, unless the paper has a lot of wrinkles of folds. My old Epson had constant double-document feeds. My old Epson's ink jets clogged up constantly, whether I used their ink or not, even a day after running cleaner solution through them. Leximark, on the other hand, seems to at least tolerate its own ink cartridges (haven't tried no-name ink cartridges yet - But I will after the printer is older). If you always by the Lexmark 3x Extended life cartridges, they have a decent life span for the price (remember the ink cartridges included with the unit have even LESS ink than the standard Lexmark retail ink cartridges - Very bad PR, because too many customers think the original cartridges are all they can expect from cartridges they buy - Thus they often start off buying no-name ink cartridges. The Extended Like cartridges are a dumb marketing idea too - Why don't they just fill all their cartridges up? The ink probably costs less to manufacture than the cartridge shell and printhead!

Overall this is an OK printer for the price, offering lots of bang for the buck, but if you are looking for a decent photo printer, look elsewhere. This puppy chews through ink cartridges like you wouldn't believe when printing photos. I just printed 60 4x6 color photos (premium paper / best quality / (20)8.5x11 sheets with (3) 4x6s per sheet) on a brand spanking new #33 OEM color cartridge and that was all she wrote. I just figured out what I paid per print - figuring on the ink alone it came out to almost $0.50 per print and again that's not factoring in the paper. YIKES! I would have been better off ordering the pics through one of the many online services that offer cheap print deals.Since I'm stuck with this printer for now I'm going to try the #35 high yield and/or possibly try some refilled or non-OEM cartridges to try to bring the price per print down and hopefully not have to sacrifice quality. There's no way I can continue to average $0.50+ per print and I'm not going to sacrifice quality to make the carts last longer as the prints are just barely acceptable at the top quality settings so I don't want to go down to normal quality or lower as I've tried that and the prints were not acceptable at those levels IMO. Also I have tried the #31 along with a #33 which only produced minimal improvement in my prints but certainly not worth the extra $$$ for the #31 cart so I went back to printing with the #33 only with the standard black cart in the first slot. This thing is also about as noisy as they come and it rocks, rolls and vibrates like a dickens when it's in action and PPM for the highest quality photos that it'll spit out is really slow - I'm not sure exactly what it is but it took me nearly two hours+ just to get the 20 sheets that contained 3 4x6s per sheet to print out.I suppose I should note that the multi-functionality of this machine is nice and he onboard controls are quite handy and the display that allows for some pic editing is pretty cool as well but it's something I don't really use. Regular text print is fairly fast and of good quality and non-photo color prints are pretty fast as well considering the price range of this printer. I also like having the ability to scan which really comes in handy for my business / record keeping. I've had a fair amout of success with the multiple page feeder for copying/scanning. It seems as though you have to "fluff" the pages before attempting to feed them through or else they'll stick together and one or more pages will feed through together but all-in-all it works OK. I also have found the card reader to be of some use occassionaly but not often as I do most of my editing through the software on the PC but again, it's a nice thing to have if I ever want to do some quick printing without firing up my PC.My biggest complaint is in regards to the Lexmark software that's provided with this machine as it is very clunky and difficult to use effectively. I had an old Lexmark Z model printer that I bought for $40 and sold for $20 that would print full borderless photos on 8.5x11 sheets like a charm (albeit a little slow) - it was a real overachiever. But for the life of me I can't figure out how to print full borderless photos with this print software / printer and to be honest I don't think it will do it or at least not with the standard software package that comes with the machine. Even when I choose what's supposed to be the full single page borderless template the picture still prints out with about a 1/4 inch border on all sides of the photo which is really annoying.I bought this printer based on my good experience with the old Z model printer I had in hopes of upgrading somewhat with this newer, more feature rich model but it seems like all I got was more features in the scan, copy and fax functions but the picture printing functions are really lacking. I guess it's hard to complain about a multi-function machine that costs under $100 but I suppose I just higher expectations for this machine and was hoping it would be an overachiever like my old Z model Lexmark but it is not as far as photo printing goes.

Try... just TRY to find a good printer without a bunch of crap you don't want or need. You can't.So I buy this piece of crap. Instructions are non existent. FINALLY, I get the stupid thing set up... kind of. When I unplugged it to change its location, like, 8 feet across the room, suddenly I have to go through the ENTIRE setup again, only this time the touchscreen doesn't work! Now, you can't do a damn thing WITHOUT the touchscreen, so I now have to package this pice of crap up and send it back.Don't waste your time or money on this. It's just more cheaply built, over priced Chinese garbage. Then again, American companies are so greedy now, EVERYTHING is cheaply built overpriced Chinese garbage. Better off buying a crappy $39 printer than this junk, and save over $200. I wouldn't wish this junk on my worst enemy.UPDATE: As per the instruction manual, I did not contact Amazon, but Lexmark. They told me I would have to bring the printer out to a UPS store or pay a pickup fee to ship the printer back. I refused both options, telling them that I should not be penalized further for their poor manufacturing. Finally, they agreed to do the pickup and send me a new printer. However, they did NOT send me a new printer, but a poorly packaged refurbished one. Out of frustration, I went back to Amazon, and went through the completely painless process of requesting a return and replacement. I packed up the printer, and the next day UPS was there to pick it up. Within two days, I had a new printer, but more on that later. First, back to Lexmark. As stated above, Lexmark sent me a poorly packaged refurb. This time, I didn't waste time calling their customer "service" (which is a total waste of time), and using information gleaned from Yahoo! Finance, called directly to the CEO's office. I told the secretary why I was calling, and she switched me to another person. I told this fellow that replacing a brand new, factory sealed printer that had never been used was unacceptable, and that I would be returning it at no expense to me and at no further inconvenience to me. In other words, if they wanted their printer back, they had to pay for it to be picked up.FINALLY, they had UPS pick up the refurbished printer, and on that same UPS truck was my new printer from Amazon. I can't say enough good things about the way Amazon dealt with this.So I get the printer home, go to set it up, and again - the touchscreen is not responsive. Rather than waste more time, I simply unplugged the printer, went BACK on Amazon, and requested to return the printer for a full refund.I am back in the market for an inkjet printer, but one thing is for certain - it will not be a Lexmark. The product didn't work, and their customer service was atrocious - the worst I have ever experienced. Small wonder their stock is down 20% since October 2010 (it is March 2011 as I write this)I will be buying my next printer via Amazon if at all possible, however, because the service, both customer and delivery, has been outstanding. Attention other companies: you might want to try to emulate Amazon if you want to keep your customers. So, for this transaction, I give the following scores:Amazon.com - A plus for outstanding fulfillment and customer serviceLexmark - F minus for poor quality and worse customer service.

I've owned this printer for 2 years now and have not been satisfied at all. Also, I found something today that prompted me to hopefully make sure no one purchases this or any other Lexmark printer. Lets start with why this particular model is no good and move on to why Lexmark is evil later.Cons:-Wireless is intermittent. Problem has persisted through 2 routers even though Lexmark "support" said the issue was my router.-Ink cartridges stop functioning for no apparent reason. I'm not sure if it is the built in expiration date in the chip or what(yes, the cartridges don't work after amount of time after manufacture), but I've had cartridges that report as 75% full not work, even after repeated cleaning attempts(which waste any color that is not clogged).-Set up is a pain, not hard, just stupid and unnecessary stuff. No way to connect to wireless through the printer interface, have to install software on your PC to do this, or to print at all, no generic driver(more on that later).-Not a flaw with the printer itself, but Lexmark support is not good. Long wait times, non-native support people reading from a script. Seems to be the norm for support now, but still bears saying.-Lexmark makes every effort to prevent use of non-Lexmark ink cartridges. There are ways around this but they are a pain.-Loud.Pros:-It prints sometimes. So today I was trying out a different PC cleaning program, and one of its functions discovered a service called something like lxbe_CATS-Customer Connect Service(not 100% sure that was exactly it, I've deleted any trace of it now). A quick Google search showed this to be a service that reports back to Lexmark. What exactly does it report? According to Lexmark, no personal data, but I take that with a grain of salt. Best guess of everything I've read is about ink cartridge use, I'm sure this software is mentioned in some EULA, but I hate this kind of stuff. Pretty sure this is why you can't just use any of Lexmark's newer printers, you have to install their garbage software so they can monitor you.

I purchased this printer over a year ago from Best Buy. The salesperson enthusiastically noted that the printer was more expensive than some of the others, but the cost of operation was much lower.Overall the print quality is OK. The black ink cartridge is less expensive but the color cartridges can be costly, especially if you don't get the XL cartridges. Most stores around my home sell only the regular size color cartridges which actually yield a higher cost per page than competing products.I have had nothing but problems with this printer. For the first few months the problems were annoyances (like not waking up from sleep mode) but the problems continued and worsened over time. I upgraded to the latest firmware which seemed to only help Lexmark as this "upgrade" prevented you from using refilled cartridges. I only used new cartridges but that still didn't prevent my printer from malfunctioning. The first thing to go was the printhead. I was searching for a solution and wound up at the Lexmark web site. I was automatically directed to a screen and with a few clicks a new printhead was on its way. I didn't even have to talk to technical support. Clearly, Lexmark knew that a lot of their 901s were having printhead problems.Later the "fun" really began as the printer started to act more and more erratic. The printer would make terrible noises and I would get an error message that the printhead was stuck (it wasn't). As time went on the printer started to report random error messages... "the printhead is jammed," "there are no cartridges installed," "the printer can't communicate with the yellow cartridge," and on and on. Initially, I could turn the printer off and then on to get it to print. Then I had to unplug it and now it works when it feels like it. What a shame to put this large hunk of plastic into a landfill.I can't tell you if the problem was poor design or poor quality control, but I would advise not buying this printer.

We have owned this printer for 2 years and the only good thing has been the Lexmark customer support. There are far better printers out there so you are better off spending your money elsewhere. The print quality isn't that good, especially when compared to the laser printer we purchased last year. I wasn't expecting laser printer quality but we print out a number of forms and the Lexmark Pro205 does not cut the mustard. The lines aren't sharp and small text is barely legible. We have spent countless hours dealing with WIFI connectivity issues and had to ship the first printer back because of a hardware failure. I'm writing this review because we have a printhead error so Lexmark is mailing us a new printhead. I'd say the best feature is the scanner as it can scan into .doc formats and the scan quality seems good. But at the end of the day, I do not recommend this printer.

First off, I was recommended this printer by a friend of mine, who also uses Linux-based OS's.Now, for those of you who are not familiar, Gentoo is one of the most difficult Operating Systems to install. Lexmark does not have a printer driver for this particular Linux Distribution. However, by installing their drivers on a basic Ubuntu install, I could then copy over the driver ppd file and things are working great.(I'm making more work for myself than most people would. I did test lexmark's windows driver on a virtual machine and everything was perfect. I expect Mac OS X drivers work just as well.)Printing is fast and decent. I heard that because of the cheaper black ink, the quality of black isn't as good as more expensive cartridges, but I'm still really impressed with the quality that comes out of this machine. Yes, even the black.I have not had to wait more than 5 seconds for the images I've printed, something that has really impressed me.For scanning, my friend raves about how well it works for him. In a few minutes I had scanning set up to email myself with the results of a scan. The printer didn't detect my scanning program (xsane), but I expected as much. For the slight inconvenience of having to check my email, I gained a really nice printer with great compatibility with my OS. Scanning takes about 5-10 seconds for 600 dpi, faster than what I expected.I've never been a fan of touch screens for typing, so that did irritate me (the less expensive equivalent lexmark printer had buttons, but more expensive black ink).Once you get to about 10 pages of paper left, it may not print because paper is too low. Again, just a minor irritation. Haven't tested faxing, probably won't ever. Bought this printer on sale for $150 CAD, an extra set of all colour ink + black set me back $70 CAD. It may be more expensive than buying another cheap colour printer, but I honestly see this thing lasting me over the 5 year warranty that lexmark offers (longest in the industry). It seems they are serious about supporting this printer. It has been on the market for a while now, so things have stabilized. I read many reviews that said negative things about this printer, but my experience says otherwise. If I had been running a more common linux-based OS like Ubuntu, this would have taken ~10 minutes to set up.I was looking for an HP printer originally because those are very well supported in GNU/Linux and have their own program to manage printing. However, I regret nothing.5 stars.

Purchased here Dec, 2010. Am on 3rd print head! Used as main printer for my small business (average 1 ream in 4-6 weeks) so this sucks to be down til (5yr) warranty replacement comes in. Has tendency to jam when using card stock & labels. As the feed flips paper 180 deg, this is an issue. Must be they expected issues as the rear cover is easy to access to clear jams. FYI, Lexmark will stop production of Ink Jet Printers in 2015! Their C/S reps are fairly smart but I would rather have a product that didnt need C/S calls. This printer was raved about by "tech" mags but probably because Lexmark advertises there. Print quality IS NOT photo grade as, even with (3) print heads it can have bands. I will believe Amazon reviews more than "expert" reviews w/ future purchases. FYI can't believe price has gone up 50% in 2 years! Purchased this due to "expert" reviews & 5 year warranty but...warranties dont print well :)p

I love this printer, and my wife does, too. First, I was impressed by the quality of the machine: the fit and finish says "this printer was thoughtfully made." I found the set-up to be relatively easy, although other reviewers have disagreed. The software gives step-by-step instructions; I had to uninstall and reinstall once, which I don't consider to be heart-breaking. The printer's "firmware" updated itself at installation, and was recently updated by automatic notification. Likewise, the computer software associated with the printer was just updated by notification. I got my wife a new iPad Mini for Christmas, and before the iPad was received, I was able to update the software so her new iPad could print wirelessly. Out of the box, she was able to print to the Lexmark Pro 5500 flawlessly. It is NOT a small printer, so be sure to check the specs. This printer replaced both my old printer and fax machine, so we saved space. We love it!

This printer is complete trash. It worked for the first year, but then maybe because we rarely used it. We probably printed less than 200 real pages, and 300 or more aligning the print head, printing again because of a bad first attempt, printing a "print head cleaning page". Quality went downhill after that with smeared ink, missing colors (despite FULL ink cartridges), on every attempt. Now after 2 years, I have the dreaded "Print Head Error". For the $50 they want, I'm probably going to be better off going with a new Cannon or Epson, even though I have a full set of unused color cartridges that I paid $45 for (anyone want to buy them?). With Lexmark "quality" I know the print head will just fail again in a year. And yes, I updated to the latest firmware. Although I don't see why I should have to do that. Why can't Lexmark make a printer that will PRINT, without the need to update? When I bought this 2 years ago the star rating was over 4. Now look at it, 2.8! These do not last. The only "good" thing about it is the low cost black ink, otherwise I'd give it zero star, instead of one.

This printer is difficult to network, loses its settings, guzzles ink like Homer Simpson guzzles Duff beer and only uses the most expensive, non-refillable cartridges on the market. So not only is it a bad printer. It's a bad company. They say you can buy refillable versions of "100" series cartridges, but you can't ... not from them. And like many new machines, it won't accept generics or even professionally refilled cartridges. The S600 often says it needs a new cartridge of one color or another after as few as 12 prints. That's $1 or more a page for just one of four colors! It constantly wants to clean (waste ink) itself. The Worst Printer ever from a greedy and extremely un-green company. I am sorry I bought this printer and will never buy another Lexmark product. Can I call this a SCAM on the part of Lexmark?

Most product reviews are written because a customer is either super happy or super disappointed/angry.I'm in the latter camp. This is a cheap printer and I probably shouldn't expect much. The wirelessconnectivity has been very unreliable. I have many devices on my network and this is by far themost likely to drop. I can usually get it back on (the Lexmark docs are NO help here) but inevitablyit falls off again. And finally, not everything works -- e.g., I can't seem to get the double-sidedprinting to work. Lexmark support is a joke - You can sit on hold for an hour only to learn that aslong as the printer is physically working (i.e., has a light on), it is not their problem and they'll tryto sell you "premium support" to fix the basic problem of a printer that does NOT do as advertised.I wanted to like Lexmark and their support but they have really burned that bridge. Buy somethingelse instead!

Arrived by FedEx in a few days. When I opened it, I saw the back panel partially opened and one of the hinges popped off. I was able to pop the hinge back in. This led me to believe FedEx somehow mishandled the box. So I set it up and connect to my network on Friday evening, but the ADF sensor is malfunctioning, probably from the mishandling during transport.I call Lexmark on Saturday, and they set me up with a technician, who came and replaced the sensor on Tuesday. Sometimes, there is a bit of waiting on the phone, but you get through quickly most of the time, and you get to speak with a well-spoken rep. No strange accents, good professional English. So 5 stars for excellent customer service. Now I also had trouble setting up the Scan-to-eMail and Scan-to-FTP functions on the network. This printer isn't that easy to configure and it will require some networking know-hows.I've a Windows SBS 2011 network with both Macs and PCs. My tech support rep was very knowledgeable, professional, and used perfect English. She connected directly to a Mac client on my network, controlled the both the Mac and the Lexmark printer panel remotely (it was almost futuristic, because I can see her controlling and configuring the printer on the printer's large touchscreen). After fixing my SMTP configuration, she even went to troubleshoot my NAS (network attached storage) FTP server. She opened up Mac/UNIX terminals and entered a bunch of UNIX commands, and even figured out the problem on my Netgear ReadyNAS, which is an non-Lexmark equipment. I'm speechless. 5++ stars for technical support.I'm so glad that I chose Lexmark. The touchscreen is responsive, informative, and makes everything much easier to use. It is a beautiful looking machine as well. I really like this printer. I don't think you'll regret it if you went with this.

Ok, if you are planning on buying this printer, the good news is, you wont be disappointed about the following: 1) You have cheap ink! Awesome! 2) You have an all-in-one with this cool looking, fairly functional control screen. 3) Print quality is a plus. 4) Ink cartridge replacement and auto alignment also a plus. Now for the bad news: 1) Network connectivity is sporadic and very chatty. Your printer tells on your every move! Just listen to it with WireShark, and if I had the time and the space, I would list the servers all over the world, it talks to. Does someone on a server in China need to know my ink status? Really? 2) Yep, the ink is low cost, but how low can you go when you can watch the ink graphic go down during a print job! Really, I didn't know I used color ever print job, let me just set it to black ink only! Oh man! I get to pay extra for a high cap ink cartridge. Watch that one go down printing my 8.5 x 11 certificates. Oh, and don't use an ink cartridge from another vender. You will get error messages that make nearly impossible to print anything successfully. 3) Pint management. Does my printer really need Asian fonts to print from an English only work station? Do the words CANCEL PRINT JOB mean anything to Lexmark? Does it really say, wait 45 minutes to allow your printer to finally loose its mind, re-boot, then reboot your PC, then remind it to cancel, delete, scrub the mission, and abort all freaken code speak to and from my bi-directional *. Well, you get the point. 4) Oh, the remote configuration of my beloved printer. How on earth did someone in design team meeting say, HEY! I KNOW! Lets force them to log onto the internet before they can control all these cool features from their desk top, that way we get to track their usage behavior and tell Uncle Sam that Ole Grant over there in New York is a little critical of one of your campaign contributors. Wouldn't that be fun! To imagine. Why can't I just set the quick buttons from my printer GUI so that only I know I am sending scanned copies of my ex-wife's commitment papers to my attorney? Why does Lexmark need to know that? And why can't I get the printer to wake up??? Do I really need to unplug it? Apparently, yes, I do. Hello? Lexmark? Un-happy customer wants to listen to Muze-AcK for another hour while he tries to delete his print job for the 400th time. Never mind. I guess I have to pay $5000 for a printer that will actually delete my print job and wake up when I tell it to.

I got this printer about 2 years ago because of the wireless all in one capabilities and low cost ink. About a month after the purchase I got a paper jam that managed to break a sensor and the printer quit working. After dealing with Lexmarks customer no service I had to disassemble the printer and send the broken part to them. Then I had to wait for the new part to be shipped to me and I had to re-assemble the printer. Good thing I kept my old printer. The printer worked fine for about 6 months and then the touch screen stopped working. To use the printer to copy or scan I had to power it on and off many times to make the touch screen options show up. Now the cyan ink is low and the printer has quit printing at all. I broke out my old HP which has been sitting in the closet gathering dust for 2 years and it is working fine. Now I am printer shopping for a new Non Lexmark printer. Don't let the cheap black ink fool you. The color ink is not cheap at all.

I carefully researched printers before I purchased this one. I have had nothing but trouble. While set up for the wireless was easy, every single time I load paper several sheets (often 10 or more) will feed at an angle and jam the machine. I am pretty tech savvy and know how to load paper. I have even tried several adjustments to my method...but it is virtually impossible to load paper so that it feed properly before several wasted pages. After 5-12 pages feed incorrectly it will magically start feeding properly for know apparent reason.Several pages per document will seemingly feed correctly, then jam before coming the rest of the way out. Again wasting more paper and ink.The ink runs out ridiculously quickly. I have never had to replace ink so often.I have checked to be sure there is not something broken or dropped into the feeding unit, but there really is nothing there, nothing broken. This was not Black Friday purchase or any special deal item. It was a regular purchase at a Staples store. I am very disappointed and will replace it the first opportunity I have. I wish I had not wasted my money on this one.

UPDATE: Lexmark no longer makes commercial printers, so this review is only here for people buying used or new old stock. My recommendation: avoid ALL Lexmark printers. This company now has little incentive to do anything but sell you overpriced ink. The fact that black ink is cheap becomes meaningless now that they've caused this once beautiful printer to become crippled and useless without a full compliment of color ink. I have never used my color ink, yet it was empty within a couple months of purchase.Pros-----$4.99 for a 500 page black ink cartOnce setup, wireless printing and scanning is fast and easyEnergy StarGreat dynamic touchscreen controls5 year warrantyCons----Color ink still expensive but can be disabled on MOST systems.Though it used to be Easy to disable color printing, that's no longer true. Convoluted and complicated. Lame. Lexmark is nothing but an ink sales company now. Shame. After two years the wife's Windows XP machine now insists that I buy color ink even though I've never used any color ink and it's worked fine without color ink for ages. LAME. Both win7 machines still print in black and white just fine and the printer still copies fine and prints test pages. I guess she'll just have to suffer or join the 21st century of Windows sometime because I highly doubt Lexmark is going to fix this problem. I wasted two hours of calls, chats and screen sharing with their support with no satisfaction.Update:I have never once printed using color on my 901. I've had it since 8/25/10 (2+ years) and it started claiming to be out of all four color cartridges well within the first year. In that time and since I've been through several black cartridges. Then, a couple of months ago, my wife could no longer print from her XP machine. Lexmark claimed that I needed to buy color ink. I assured them I could still print just fine from my Win7 machine, make b/w copies, etc.. After a couple hours of chatting and letting them remotely control her laptop, they got it printing again by switching from "black ink only" to "all available" - which makes little sense, but whatever. If it made sense, they would have just fixed it instantly, more so, I wouldn't have had a problem to begin with. Here we are two months later, I just put a new black ink cartridge in the Pro901 and now it's trying to tell me it can no longer print in black and white from my Windows 7 machine because the color ink is empty. It's been empty for almost two years and I've printed just fine until now. What a crock of corporate profiteering @@!#%#. Lexmark stopped making commercial hardware (printers) recently, so they're exclusively selling ink. Clearly they're not interested in just selling us $5 cartridges. Great. I will not be buying any more from them. I'm through with this throwaway company. Let me know if a class action starts. I'll take time off to rub Lexmark executives' faces in ink of ANY color ;)Support is spotty at best. Lexmark no longer makes printers so to some extent they lack incentive to support products they've already sold.Wireless setup lacks good instructions for some setupsOn my Cradlepoint router I had to disable the User Login page. Not a huge deal, but added an extra 15 minutes of trial and error to the setup and removes one additional layer of security from my home wifi.Other:To disable color printing on a per-computer basis in some Windows systems:1. Open printers folder under Control Panel.2. Right click on the Lexmark printer then choose printing preferences.3. Check the box for "print only in black".I do not use the fax function on this device, but everything else works great. Got it for $175, but it's worth the $199 price I'm seeing now.Summary-------Great value (best around) for black ink. Wireless adds crazy feng shui possibilities. (I have mine hanging from the ceiling.) Poor support.

My husband bought me this printer several years ago, and I've disliked it from the get go. First, it is SO EXTREMELY SLOW. Seriously slow just for one lousy page! I finally put it on "quick print" for most of my printing, which speeds it up considerably (but still nothing like our laser which spits them out) and for every day printing, it's fine. Printing quality drops, of course. Second, we've had numerous problems with it. It will print fine one day, then the next, no matter what is done, it won't print. Day after that, prints fine again. Very inconsistent. (That said, the past couple months we've had no problems with it. Go figure.) Third, it runs out of color ink very quickly. We were able to get a lot of life out of the black cartridge by defaulting to the quick print, but it still bleeds through a lot of ink. Lastly, we've never been able to get the scanner to work. I would not buy this printer again. If you can find it dirt cheap and just print once in awhile, this might be fine for you, but if you print even semi-regularly, I wouldn't recommend it.

This thing has had nothing but issues with streaking. Lexmark was responsive and sent me a new print head for free just to have the same issues again. That aside the nail in the coffin was when i ran out of Cyan ink and the printer will not allow you to print anything, even just using my FULL black cartridge. This is absolute BS and don't let Lexmark feed you any crap about "the printer head must have all 4 ink cartridges installed to prevent damage..." Convenient huh? Run out of yellow... cant print that 500 sheets of black ink you have left. It's a total scam and even if they did design it that way it is obviously deliberate. I will not be buying another Lexmark ever.

I have had this printer for several months now. I wanted a color printer that I would primarily use in the B&W mode as that is the more economical way. Lexmark's new $4.99 black ink cartridge WITH FREE SHIPPING was clincher for me. And the ink lasts a lot longer than I expected.Lexmark's software is about as user friendly as possible. You hit the little house on menu pad and the printer wakes, if it was sleeping, and has big icons to select to enter area you need like "copying," "scanning" or "faxing." I was able to walk my fianc?e through the menu over the phone with great ease and she is NOT very computer literate. I also wanted a printer for my "occasional" faxing. Well, once I got a printer that was fax friendly, I use the faxing feature a lot more than thought I would. For example, when my children miss school (I have six of them in grade school), I fax in their absentee note to the school. There are no longer any problems with kids forgetting to hand the teacher a note.My favorite feature of this printer is being able to scan all my important documents and keep them handy for retrieval. The wireless scanning is as easy as bringing up the "Lexmark Printer Home" icon that I "pinned to my start menu." I hit the icon and up comes the software. Next, I select from a menu, "photos, documents, email or my favorite a "PDF document." I select the "scan to PDF document" and the printer automatically scans then asks me if I have another page to add to the document. Then after the scan is finished, it actually dates the document and asks me where I want to save it. I have a file on my desktop with all my important papers, utilities and other house bills in a series of files under "important papers." Then I have a folder for each one of my children with all their reports cards, doctor visits, inoculations, ect. This is such an easy way to keep organized. Once a week, I just plug in my pen drive and back up all the documents. I can't imagine it being any easier. The only flaw I have experienced in the 5-6 months is the computer did not recognize the printer. I just unplugged the printer and it automatically reset the sync. I believe the problem was probably my computer and not the printer.I have my desktop and laptop synced to the printer and it works fantastic. I cannot articulate how pleased I am with this all-in-one. And Lexmark's tech support ALWAYS answers the phone within 5-10 minutes and most of the time it is shorter. They are friendly and most helpful. I usually don't write reviews, but this is such a phenomenal product that I felt compelled to write about it. If you are frustrated or displeased, I recommend you call the support team and they will resolve whatever issue you have. And with it being backed by the industry best five-year warranty, I don't how you can go wrong. The only caveat is that the printer must be registered within 90 days.Lexmark really caught me by surprise with this printer. I can honestly say, I don't know why anyone can give it less than 4 stars. I wish I could give it a 7. Yes hyperbole for effect, but this product is everything you would wish for and more.PS Amazon.com has a great price with the ultimate best return policy if ever needed!!!

Хорошо
This is the fastest printer I've ever seen, both in black and white and color - it truly does print over 20 pages per minute of text once it gets going. Big paper tray - pretty fantastic job with the scanner auto feed and the printer duplexer. The ink cartridges have enormous capacity - the downside is that when it hasn't been used in a few days - it takes over a minute of clicking and making noise before it starts printing - which leads me to believe it's wasting a fair amount of ink.Has both ethernet and wifi connectivity, which is pretty brilliant. The only downside is that rich graphics take it a while to process.Overall, a capable commercial grade inkjet - especially for frequent use.

I'm a very tech savvy mac user. I bought this printer on it's excellent reviews from Consumer reports. I have had nothing but trouble for years with it. Here are some of the problems I've had: (Please keep in mind my struggles have beein with a 27 in iMac with snow leopard, lion, and now mountain lion.)Wireless printing is pretty much worthless (I finally have given up and just leave it hard-wired)Paper jams are a common occurrenceDriver downloads have been problematic throughout the life of the printer.Duplex printing is difficultI'm one of those people who likes to get to "the bottom" of the problem. I have spent hours and hours struggling with this printer. When I finally get a new one, I'll definitely be taking a large blunt object to this one or setting it aflame. Please don't torture yourself by buying this printer.-DocStizzle DDS

1. Either very little ink in cartridges or this printer uses an inordinate amount of ink even when one uses the quick print setting most regularly2. Spooling takes several minutes as does printing. Stops and starts during printing, often printing 1 line, stopping, printing another, stopping. . .3. Color or small images take up to 5 minutes to print.4. Wireless connectivity is spotty. I even purchased a new wireless modem thinking it might be the issue. Still have to disconnect and reconnect printer every time I want to print as it loses wireless connectivity even when modem, printer, and computer are all in the same room!5. Already was sent a new printer head which fixed other issues when it was newer.Overall, very frustrating. I'll not buy Lexmark again, that's for sure!
