Purchased this printer two and half years ago after extensive research. Liked the idea of the 5 year warranty and liked all the features. Scanning has been a nice feature but have only used it for a couple pages at a time. Also has been good for printing large quantities of envelopes. I don't use the color capabilities much so the print head went bad but..Lexmark replaced it and sent me all new ink. Wow - nice but the color print quality has always been mediocre. I used it with an old Dell running windows XP but also have an HPLaser Jet 5 that always seems to print much better even though it must be 15 years old now. I decided to connect the Pro805 to my Laptop running Windows 7 and have been struggling for the past two days. Combing the internet for solutions to the "computer won't communicate to printer" error message. Lexmark support has been worthless. If I knew all the hassles that I would have with this printer I would never have purchased. Very disappointed and after reading the more recent reviews I realize everyone else has had pretty much the same experience.

I purchased this printer based on its review in 'Consumer Reports Magazine'. It excelled in print speed, print quality (for text), and very importantβ¦operating costs. So why the 4-stars instead of five? First, the printer software lacks a "Print Preview" feature which is common on my Canon printers. So now when I need to preview a document before printing, I'll send to my Canon printer (which I use mainly for printer quality photos), preview it, cancel the print and start over again sending it to the Lexmark (can be a pain in the neck at times). Second and of less importance, it is noisy compared to Canon printers, which have a "Quiet Printing" option in the software. But when all is said and done I'm a frugal person and operating costs count, big time. Canon's are way more expensive to operate for daily printing chores than this Lexmark...and I'm satisfied to work around the print preview issue and tolerate the noise to save the cost of operating. (I only wish Lexmark would update its software to include a print preview option...that would make this a 5-star printer in my opinion.)

I'm glad to see Amazon is no longer offering this to their customers - can purchase on Amazon, but must do so from another company. That should say it all!!!I read reviews before purchasing it in June 2010, which were positive at the time. However, this product has haunted me every since. Three main problems:1. Print head error (Lexmark has replaced it twice)2. Wireless "communication not available" when trying to print, almost daily!!! Only way to fix the problem is to unplug the printer, AND restart the computer before it will reset!!3. By the way, you can't print a black and white document if one of the 3 colored inks is out, or too low. What a money making scam for Lexmark!! I set my print preferences to "use black ink only", but the colored ink keeps disappearing, causing me to buy more ink I'm not using, just so I can print a black and white document. Oh, by the way - Lexmark cartridges are some of the most expensive on the market!!!

I bought this printer because it claimed low printing costs. The high yield toner cartridge is claimed to give 9000 pages per cartridge. However, the best I have been able to get is about 6000 pages per cartridge and the print quality starts to deteriorate long before that. Shaking the cartridge it to distribute the toner helps, but it never lasts past 6000 pages. That might be acceptable if the printer were reliableAfter 14 months in service the power supply is having problems out and the printer just stops several times a day. The Lexmark on-line service people were helpful in diagnosing the problem, but the local authorized Lexmark service center told me it does not service this model. An independent repair shop has said it will be at least $200 to replace the power supply and suggested that it might be better to buy a new printer. (This company does not sell printers, so I am sure they were not trying to make a quick sale.)On the good side, the printer was quick, quiet, and fairly easy to use, but given the problems with Lexmark service, the misleading claims about page yield, and the cost of repair, I cannot recommend it.

I purchased this product for the advertised low cost of ink, wireless capabilities, and the warranty. Of all of these the nice features are the only thing I could use it for now.First, I've had numerous issues on my Mac with printing to the computer. Sometimes it would not print and others it would print and I will still get a message saying there was a communication error.Second, I hardly use the printer anymore and I'm sure I've gone through ink MUCH faster than they advertise. I would love to see how many pages I've printed but...which leads me to my next point. After 1 1/2 years (bought 3/11), the unit won't print. As I said, it's not like it's getting used a lot everyday. I get the perpetual paper jam. Luckily I bought the extended warranty through Office Max because...And here's my last point, you have to register the unit within 30 days to get the 5 year warranty! Never mind the fact that I have a dated receipt. I would have to provide the registration email for Lexmark to repair/replace the unit. That may have been in the small print but usually receipts suffice. This was my first and probably last Lexmark product. Highly disappointed!

I bought this printer back in 2006, and it finally died on me last week, so it lasted for nearly 8 years. The printer is decent if you're just printing out office documents or school papers, although toward the end of its lifespan the printer started eating paper if you didn't pull it out as it printed.I mostly used the scanner for artwork. Basic linework usually came out somewhat crisp (though not perfect), but any color was muted and muddied. I liked that it gave me the option to crop out certain areas of a piece of artwork and only scan that area, but the software used for scanning was slow and would sometimes freeze, especially if I was scanning a lot of images (which I often did).It was alright for what the price was (about $60) and it got me through four years of college, but you could probably find something better these days.

On paper it all sounds good. It has class leading features, it is reasonably priced,it uses inexpensive ink etc... It was reasonably easy to install. If I have written this review the next day I bought it, probably I would say good things. A week later, probably I would not be as much enthusiastic. A year later I am completely disappointed and probably Lexmark will have tough time to sell me another of their products. It takes a lot to gain a loyal customer, it takes a single bad experience to loose a costomer (sometimes forever.)The printer was connected to a secure wireless network and energy saving mode was setup. After a day or two, printer could not be reached wirelessly, not even turning it off and on again would reset it. One had to unplug and plug again to wake it up. Taking it out of the energy saving mode seemed to help a little but still the printer would not wake up, at random. For three days you may not have any problem but then, two days in a row it may need an unplugging/plugging back sequence and so on. Very annoying. After printing about 520 pages and about a dozen photos on small photographic paper the black cartrige ran out of ink (which is expected). After I installed a new black cartridge (genuine lexmark) first it did not recognize that I inserted a brand new cartridge. After unseating and reinstalling the cartridge it started having blank streaks so I first followed the directions for cleaning the head, which did not work, then a deep cleaning, which was interrupted by near empty cyan cartridge warning. I installed brand new color cartridges (all three, again genuine lexmark cartridges) and repeated the deep cleaning. Now all colors had streaks. After another deep cleaning sequence. The printer told me that the brand new cyan was running out of ink. I again took the cyan cartridge out and reinstalled it. Now the printer told me that there is a problem with the printer head and asked me to take it out and clean the connections which I followed. After reinstallation of cartridges the printer stop printing the colors. I could not clean the head because the printer would tell me I ran out of cyan ink whereas the ink display would show 1/2 full. Since it will cost me more (probably new head, new cartridges + down time) to fix the problem than replace the printer, hopefully with something better, Lexmark 805 will go to the recycling bin. When it worked, printed characters would bleed on regular 20 lb paper. The quality of printing photos was mediocre on photopaper and any color picture, even a smaller one, on regular paper would curl the paper. In the past I have used Canon, Epson inkjets and I am using an HP AOI inkjet at my office (4 years, and still going strong) none gave me as many problems as Lexmark 805. Believe the users that gave poor reviews to this product. It does not deserve your hard-earned dollars. So, I am again in the market for a new wireless AOI. Just do not suggest any of the "disposable" printers. I am sick and tired of cheaply built, expansive to maintain pieces of junk. I do not mind to pay a little more for something reliable and robust.

I have to keep restarting the printer so the laptops in our house can communicate with it. One minute it is printing fine the next it stops communicating and needs to be restarted. Not what you want from a wireless printer. When it prints its pretty good but I print a fare amount and its just not reliable enough. Wish I had bought a Canon instead. This is a printer problem, not Laptop or router. The wife keeps complaining about it so I won't be buying a Lexmark again ever. Why can't these types of devices work for the user as expected, not as if it is cheap either ! All commercial companies should look after their customers better else they won't have any future customers. Buyers beware..***** UPDATE - JUST WASTED ANOTHER HOUR AS IT FELL OFF THE NETWORK AGAIN ... Could not get to print from either laptop, even though I could ping the printer from them and the router can see it connected. Had to Set Factory Default and run through setup again, gave static IP again and its back on the network again but for how long???? Any more problems and I'll be knocking on Lexmarks door asking for my money back.

I have three of the printers and have been happy with them until recently. The inexpensive 105XL black inkjet cartridges are the obvious sell point for this printer. I have had some service issues over the past year and Lexmark service has been top notch. HOWEVER, lately I have been getting the dreaded "Communication not available" error pop up screen on my Windows 7 computers. This occurs on both wired and wireless connections. Firmware is updated. Fixed IP address has been tried. Error still occurs. A search on the web will show that many are having similar connection issues. Lexmark does have a troubleshooting article on their website (Document ID:SO4473 ), but from the variety of solutions offered it seems that Lexmark really doesn't understand what the root problem is and Lexmark is just grasping at straws.Lexmark is exiting the inkjet business. [...]Therefore, it will be unlikely that Lexmark will focus on fixing these problems. Therefore I cannot recommend this printer and will be recycling mine once I use up existing inkjet inventory.

I bought this printer 13 months ago so the review is informed by experience. It performs well. It is easier to understand how to use it than any other printer I have owned, and has a small footprint. All functions and the software are commendable. It doesn't jam often, and I print a lot on the backs of previously used pages. Duplex mode is slow and less robust but bearable. But...The original printhead failed after 1 month. The internet liberally documents an apparent design flaw. Fantastic customer service handled my call quickly and competently and sent a replacement (with ink!) that arrived in just a couple of days and it worked great. Twelve months later, the replacement printhead failed. I had a similar customer service experience. They again quickly dealt with my call and sent another replacement printhead (again with free ink!) at no charge. I just cannot bring myself to downgrade them when they have been such stand-up guys, even though it has taken a few hours of my time. Let's hear it for honoring a five-year warranty. Recommendation: Don't hesitate to call them if you have this problem. Now for the trick: It is only a penny a page only if you can print exclusively with black and not with a blend of expensive color inks to create gray and maybe black. NOTE: JUST CHOOSING "PRINT USING BLACK INK ONLY" IN THE PRINT DIALOG BOX IS NOT ENOUGH. YOU NEED TO ALSO MAKE THIS SAME CHOICE IN THE PRINTER DEFAULT SETTINGS. It is possible this trick is just necessary when in the Quick Print mode that I usually use and printing in a gray instead of black to save ink and printer faster. I am not sure about that but I do know I need to make that switch to not use color ink. There is a vague statement in the manual about how the printer "may" use the color cartridges to print grays. Watch out.May 2012 addition to the review : After 18 months, either the firmware or software has crapped out (all is up to date, I even reinstalled the software to try to fix it). I have to unplug and replug the printer almost every day because it loses track of itself and won't print or even turn off. On account of this I severely downgraded my rating.

After years of faithful relationship with LEXMARK my last experience with this model went wrong in all senses:1. The new model bought from AMAZON started to have issues just before the year: Problems with the network connection and internal reboots that couldn't be explained by the tech support. An RMA was agreed and the new printer was sent.2. The new printer was not a new printer, but a refurbished printer that since the moment of arrival it didn't work at all and the second complaint in less than 10 days was submitted. Unbelievable to have this with a replacement printer. A new RMA was requested and the help-desk was supposed to have in the mail.3. After 2 months of fighting this issue with LEXMARK the second RMA was received. It worked fairly better that the previous printers. Just that after a couple of months in the working a hinge internal to the scanning bed just broke. The official answer from LEXMARK is that the printer is out of WARRANTY and the printer has not solution. They offered a 20% discount over a new printer. My first question was if LEXMARK match pricing over a major distributor, as it is AMAZON.com and the answer was NO. Financially it doesn't make any sense because for saving just $35.20 they lost another customer to their competitors (I would've accepted less discount, but if it was considered below the AMAZON.com price I found). Sometimes this kind of decision can bring a business down, and more when your products are not considered in the top 5 ([...]). Thanks for that decision I'll be exploring for better options to the one offered by LEXMARK, which clearly denotes low quality in the product, service and commercial sense. The idea of this review is to provide a very objective view of my experience with this printer and the company who supports it.

Most of the reviews here say the same thing, so I will keep this one short. First, the printer itself is fantastic, and very easy to use. It is a great all in one, and I find the print quality is more than acceptable. As others have stated, for $5.00 you can replace the black ink which will yield approximately 500 pages, which is incredible. Replacing the color is not so cost effective, but let's be honest, what printer out there today is cheap to replace color ink, sans doing it yourself which never seems to be the same. The touchscreen on this printer is nothing short of amazing, and is incredibly user friendly. When I need to make a quick copy, the ability to do this from the printer, without ever having to access my computer is great. As far as the wireless is concerned, I have no real complaints here either. Sure, it seems slow at times, but let's be serious here for a moment. I think we all have become way to critical of technology, and lost sight of the details. Even if it takes 30 seconds to print at times, the fact is you are sending a document, picture, etc. through thin air, and then have it received by your printer where it is reassembled and printed out, just as you had created it. Can't help but think of Willy Wonka and Mike T.V. So this printer is 5 stars then, right? Not so fast turbo. Unfortunately, the printer has one MAJOR design flaw. The print head. I have owned this printer for a couple of months, and have already replaced the print head twice, and the entire printer once. This last time, so far so good. It seems that for some reason, the print head clogs, and then your are out of luck. No amount of cleaning, deep cleaning, etc. is going to fix it, and it's time to call Lexmark. Fortunately, they are very helpful and quick to send out a new print head, complete with new ink. But this is a huge hassle, and if it's your only printer, you may find yourself running to Office Depot to print. I could almost excuse the clogging as a result of sitting idle, if it were not for my Canon Pixma Pro 9000, which I use for professional photographic prints. I have let that printer sit idle for months, and I can turn it on, and it will print perfect first time, ever time. I would use it daily, except the print ink for it is nothing short of needing a small loan. So would I recommend this printer? If you can accept the fact that you will more than likely have to send back at least one print head, and hope they fix this problem permanently in the future, than sure. Otherwise, keep looking and pray for the rest of us. Well, not so short after all. Just my .02

I received this printer and my first thought was "Whew" wireless, this is going to be a pain...Well I'm happy to say I was wrong.First things first:PACKAGING:This printer was packed such that the instructions and installation CD, were right on top. No foraging around looking for this essential piece of information. You receive the printer, this folder of information with the CD, a power cord, a USB cord and a phone cord.THINGS TO SET UP THE FIRST TIME:When you get this printer, you will need to do the following:1. Install the SW2. Update the SW3. Communicate with your computer during setup4. Install the Print head5. Install the inks (4 in all)6. Hook up to your wireless network7. Hook up to your FAX if you choose to use it such8. Run a test print. And it goes so smoothly you can't believe you did all this!Key here is to FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS.One of the first instructions tells you not to hook up anything and to follow the directions as to when to hook stuff up. I don't know what happens if you don't listen. I do know that if you follow directions in less than a half hour you will have a smoothly hooked up printer that is not only accessible to the computer you set it up with, but clearly visible on your network. The directions show up both on your computer due to the wizard you are following during hook-up, but some also are on the printer display once it is active.MINOR ISSUES:I found insertion of the ink cartridge to be a bit questionable. I felt I had to press harder than I would have expected to. I did get a click to confirm, but suspect others might not press hard enough resulting in improperly inserted cartridges.SUBSEQUENT HOOK UPS:The first computer we hooked it up with was a wired setup, Windows XP desktop. The second computer we hooked it up with was a wireless laptop with Windows 7. In this case, the CD did not have the drivers but easily accessed the web for the correct ones and the printer was hooked up, in no time. The next machine was a Windows XP desktop and it also went well.Key here in each case we used the installation CD. We did not try to hook up by just looking up the drivers on the Lexmark site. However since in all cases of these setups, the website was polled for either updates or the original drivers, I'm sure this would work too.USAGE:We have only printed several items and each was flawless. The two-sided printing was great for minimizing paper. Mind you we all know it is the ink that costs the most. However, this two-page printing was easy to do, within the printer settings.I've scanned one item (a magazine article) using the OCR capability and it was easy to do and find within the application. Quite easy in comparison to many other printers I have tried to do this with.I will add to this section as I do more.DOUBLE-SIDED COPY DILEMMA:One thing I had to school myself to do, is not touch the paper when it comes forward in the delivery chute until it is done. Since this printer does two-sided copies, it will send a page forward into the delivery chute, prior to pulling it back in, to print the other side. They clearly show you are not to touch the paper yet in the display, but having used single-sided copy printers so long, it was nearly automatic to assume the copy was done, despite the warning. It would be better if the paper did not go right into the delivery chute so visibly.INK AVAILABILITY:A quick check around, I did not find the ink at a popular warehouse store. I found the ink online, only at one of the two popular office supply places near where I live. I'm assuming they would also carry it locally. So close to Black Friday, I didn't venture there in person. They do provide an easy link within the printer application directly to Lexmark to buy ink and it is comparatively priced, to the one office store online. However there seems to be a high yield version, that I'm ignorant on, at the moment. The Standard Black is the typical, twice as much as the separate three colors: Cyan, Magenta and Yellow. A quick check seemed to be inline with many of the other printers out there. An update, both local office stores have this ink and it is comparatively priced. However the warehouse store still does not.SUMMARY:It is hard to write a summary on a printer I have done so little with so far. I plan to update this review. However it looks sleek, it installed well and so far; it performed well. The lack of ink availability may be due to it being so new.FEATURES 4 in 1:This printer has a sheet feeder for the scanner and a flat bed. You can also fax with it as well as copy too. This 4 in 1 set of features was essential to me, having had various 4 in 1 printers for over 10 years now.You would think for personal use, this would not be handy, but how many times have you had to take document to work to copy or to the drug store at 10-25 cents each. Also if you have found something interesting in a magazine or book, it is a simple thing to scan in and put it into your computer for later reference. Thi

Too bad there is not a rating less than 1 star for this POS. I overcame most of the obstacles that this printer dishes out. Now it is almost useless. I get a message that the ink is low, put in a new cartridge, same message. Then it tells me it wont print anymore until I put in a new cartridge. but wait, it has all new cartridges WTF? OK, the work around is to print from your computer, dont try and make a copy unless you scan it, save it and then print it. I am taking this POS out to the desert soon along with some various weapons. I am going to destroy this thing and post it on youtube. Stay tuned for that. Total Junk. If you ever read a good review....it's fake. Check out the reviews on Lexmarks website...all positive. People just cant believe how wonderful this printer is....all fake. Why do I know? I have 3 of them. Yeah, thats right, and they all are terrible. If you buy one, you will think of me and postulate....why didn't I listen?

I bought a Pinnacle Pro901 for my for my home office and it worked great for months. So I purchased an identical one for my small business. And then the problems began, and not just with one of the printers but with both. I began receiving lots of messages from the printer that needed translation.1) "There is a problem communicating with the printer" means "You need to unplug this piece of junk and plug it back in or there is no chance anything will happen." When the computer is in another room and the power strip is behind a cabinet that is always "fun." A helpful message from the Lexmark would have been, "Move the power strip out from behind the cabinet because this will happen over and over and over again."2) Scan to email is a great feature - or was a great future when it worked. Now I just use a thumb drive. It is much less frustrating.3) The most recent problem is paper jams. Both of these printers are less than two years old and one is less than a year old. The older one in my home office is jamming.. guess I know what to expect at my business office in the near future. And lest you think that I may perhaps be over-using the printer at my office and should have bought a printer "designed for business," I am in a profession where I don't print all that much.

I am a Lexmark dealer. I like (most) Lexmark products. I like this Lexmark product.Yes, scanning could be easier. Ricoh is easier but their machines are no where near Lexmark in other aspects of user friendliness (okay... they're weird). HP is easier but their drivers are huge, take over your computer, and are full of crapware.Printing on Macs is a problem? For a printer that uses IP Port 9100 and supports Postscript natively? Really? OS 10 is Unix. Unix prints Postscript. You don't need any software from Lexmark and anyone who knows Mac OS should be able to print to this machine in under a minute.Low toner cartridge yield? All printer manufacturers rate their cartridges at 5% yield. That means 5% of the page is black. 5% is a double spaced business letter with no graphics. If your pages have more on them, you're going to less less yield. You would be amazed at how white a 5% page looks. Finally, most lower-end MFPs idea of emailing is to scan to your computer and open Outlook. This machine will do it direct but does not support SMTP servers that require SSL. It will work fine with an in-house Exchange, Domino, etc. server or many ISP's servers. It is, after all, a printer, not a computer. It is a solid, $400 multifunction that I have and will continue to recommend. Many 1-star reviewers here appear to not know anything out networking or setting up their computer and are blaming Lexmark for not catering to the lowest common denominator. I, for one, appreciate the lack of crapware which, I admit, might make set up easier for someone who isn't qualified to set up the device in the first place.

1) touch screen becomes unresponsive/frozen after just a few months, and requires a hard reboot by unplugging the power cord to restore the screen, then after the printer becomes inactive for a little while the screen becomes unresponsive again2) wifi scan never works properly, files sent to pc will become corrupted useless3) wifi printing only works at random requiring reboot/reset to print4) even though you only use black ink for printing, it requires you to replace ALL the color inks as well evert few months, costing unnecessary $5) epson has one of the worst printing softwares i ever used, it's clunky, constantly freezes doesnt work. This printer has caused me endless headache over the year just to do some basic printing and scanning, it was stupid of me to buy a 8 pack ink replacement, just waiting for the ink to run out before i throw this piece of garbage out.I will never buy another epson printer, they may be able to improve the hardware with a better printer, but the software it uses is the same junk.

Looked at reviews for reliable, low cost per copy, fast, consumer grade copier-printer. Lexmark came out at the top. This is our first experience with a consumer grade machine - the 35cpm duplexing RADF machine we kept at home after closing our copier business a decade ago was starting to break.Unboxed and set it up with no problems, got it networked easily enough. We will not use the fax feature. Could have used wireless networking, but chose the variant without it based on price. Scanning works OK, but not as handy as our Fujitsu ScanSnap.Having been in the copier business, we knew that speed sells; customers changing to a slower machine were invariably disappointed. When I hit "Print" the paper is in the output tray by the time I turn around. Nice. No waiting.Have had the machine more than a month now, not through the original toner cartridge.Would recommend this to anyone.

I had it for a few years there are a few reviews that say this printer is not compatible with refillable cartridges and unfortunately those review are wrong this printer supports the 36XLA refillable black cartridge and it has a separate slot cartridge for color printing.I'll be honest I like the rest am not happy with this printer in regards to usage the lower-end cartridges only prints 175 pages before you need to buy another one, and I have gotten to a few of them rather quickly with moderate use. I recently purchased the 36XLA and waiting for that hopefully that will last awhile then the standard stock ones.Fortunately, for regular printing I use a laser black printer for copying and printing from another company.

I purchased my Lexmark 901 about two years ago and used it primarily connected wirelessly with pc's running xp and xp pro, some it Windows 7 as well as an apple mac. All went ok until recently and I am still trying to figure out if it was the change of a new pc with Window 8 64 Pro or from wireless WEP security to WPA-2. Lexmark does not have a clean install for Windows 8. They tell you to use a generic Windows 8 driver but the better way is to install the driver from the install CD. At least then Win8 can identify it.However, with my new Win8 computer I also beefed up wireless security to WPA-2 personal, and now the printer randomly disconnects (no communication with the network).Nothing helpful on the Lexmark support website and if you call they steer you to a paid support line.I would no buy a Lexmark again. I am going back to HP for much more professional customer service and support.

I agree with most reviews here. Ink cartridges can be a real pain in the wrong place...even though I bought my replacements from Lexmark; I've had tons of issues with ink.1. Printing only using Black ink... sets counter for color ink down as well. So, the ink indicator says "Low Ink" when I rarely or never used Color ink...Replaced all Ink from Lexmark..2. I don't print that very often and after a long dry spell..the printer won't print at all (black ink or all). Ink levels all show more than 35-70% and still the printouts & Test page come out like POS. Seems like the ink just dried out sitting there and I tried cleaning printhead, realigning & whatnot...No Go.I'm currently using it as a scanner - that is one thing it does right...but, that's one expensive scanner. Would not recommend!

I purchased the Lexmark C540N to replace a Samsung color laser that I wanted to smash to smithereens out of frustration (constant paper jams) and I was really happy at first with the Lexmark. The first bad omen was when it wouldn't print because it kept saying the waste toner receptacle was full - after printing only 20 pages. I contacted tech support and they shipped me a new receptacle which worked fine. Then one of the cartridges ran out of ink - at around 150 or so pages and I couldn't print anything - definitely not good. Buyer's remorse really kicked in when I resarched replacement toner - there are no refill kits for these cartridges nor refurbished units. Even if I purchased the "return program" cartridges - where you basically promise to return the old cartridges to Lexmark - the high yield toner wound up costing more than what I paid for the printer - almost $300. Then the horror really set in - 400 to 500 pages later, I ran out of toner again. A sick empty feeling in my stomach hit me as I realized what a colossal mistake I made in buying this thing. It's been sitting in my basement for almost a year now as I decided to stop flushing so much money down the drain on toner and wait and see if the cartridge prices would come down or either a refill kit or refurbished cartridges would become available, but unfortunately, nothing. Lexmark has a tight-fisted control of the market when it comes to used cartridges I guess. As for the print quality, I do have to say that when it prints, it does so beautifully - the images are very sharp and vivid. But when you run out of ink, the ouch factor really kicks in. If you want really nice prints and don't mind the expense, then I highly recommend the printer. If you're on a budget, look for something else.

We've been using Lexmark all-in-one printers in our home office for years, and I'm not going to lie: Lexmark printers really sucked 4-5 years ago. We'd buy a Lexmark printer for under $100 and there'd always be some issues. Nevertheless, they always paid for themselves after some time. After our last one died (S405, I think), I did some research and was considering getting another brand. However, I came across this model and was able to get it below retail (approx $180 shipped). This printer has a very nice look to it. It's not cheap-looking at all. The display on the printer is a nice, full-color screen. It's capable of printing on both sides of a piece of paper, which is unheard of at such a low price, and you don't have to buy any additional parts for duplex printing. You can put a lot of paper in this bad boy, and with the two trays, you can have different types of paper, obviously. The printer is very capable of printing photos, but don't get this printer if you'll be mostly printing photos. This is a printer for typical office printing, but if you need it to step up to the plate, it definitely is up to the challenge. The most important feature of this printer is that it boasts the least expensive brand-name ink of any manufacturer out there. This is a big deal for an office setting or for people who do a lot of printing. You'll save about 75% on ink ($5 per high-yield cartridge), which can be hundreds of dollars per year. Just think of all the things you can buy when you save a few hundred bucks a year on ink! You might be paying a little bit of a premium on this printer coming out of the gate, but if you use it, the thing will pay for itself in no time at all.In a nutshell, do yourself a favor, buy this printer, and save some money!

Bought the Pro205 at the same time I bought a new iMac because it would support air print. Worked for about a week then paper would not feed. Numerous calls to tech support confirmed that I had done all the proper trouble shooting and that the printer was defective. Due to illness I allowed took much time to pass between the occurrence of the problem and the purchase date and on my most recent call was told that the unit was out of warranty and they had no resolution. I will take it to the recycling center today. For those contemplating the purchase of a Lexmark printer, it is worth noting that almost all Lexmark printers grade poorly on the customer rating. I don't think I got a lemon-I think Lexmark manufactures lemons. Comparable HP & Canon products are better choices.
