Since I sit in front of my computer almost all day, and since I listen to music almost all day, it's important for me to have decent speakers, and the JBL Creature II fits. The only quibble I have is that the bass and treble controls should be on one of the small speakers instead of on the sub-woofer, which for me is on the floor. So if I want to adjust the bass and treble, I have to get under the desk, and then I just feel like taking a nap under there a la George Castanza.

My friend Eric told me about these speakers after he had just gotten them and installed them in his dorm room. He swore by these speakers, and asked me what did I have to loose? They are only 40 bucks! I bought them, and can safely say these are the greatest purchase I have made this year. Granted the sub is only about 8 inches and the speakers are tiny as well, they still pack a massive punch. These are by far the greatest bang for your buck and I would go as far as to say they would out perform some of the higher dollar speakers! Great buy!

I just purchased these speakers after reading both the positive and negative reviews posted here. [...] The money was well spent. The sound output from the cheap headphone jack of my laptop is prodigious. The room I listen in is 130 sq. ft (10 x 13) and for this size room the volume level is sufficient to fill the room but not shake the walls. For wall shaking you have to spend quite a bit more.I have a corner desk and the woofer is situated in the corner. In this location there is more than enough bass output. I actually have to turn down the bass just past the halfway detent just to keep the bass under control. The satellites are located at the corners of the desk for a nice wide stereo separation (about 5 feet).I was considering spending more, but why? There are definitely better speakers out there for the discerning audiophile ear. But these babies definitely do the job and quite well I may add! For the money, I think they are an outstanding value.Imagine the sound quality if I were to pop for a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS sound card for my laptop and hook the creatures up to that. That is my next purchase.Well done JBL.

Not Much to Review....JBL At this price? If you want midrange look for something else$ If you have a Mac, the Creature 11 goes great with. A lot of cords come with System!! After getting this I'm happy with the price...but I would spend more money on my next system!! Hope this helps...

THese speakers are absolutely awesome in performance, looks and price. I think the $37 must be a typo, so buy these speakers before someone notices!I've wanted these speakers since they came out, but always had other $ priorities. I'm glad I waited.One note: Look at the instructions! I set these up out of the box and was very dissapointed with the volume level. I had iTunes cranked to 11 and the sound level was weak at best. I grabbed the manual and lo-and-behold, there are touch sensetive volume controls on the satelitte speakers... D-oh! Anyway, now cranking it up to 11 blasts me (and my neighbors) out of my seat..

These JBL speakers are a great find at an unbelievably low price. They match my macbook perfectly, and they sound great. The controls are easy to access, the set up is easy, and the light under the speakers is a nice but not overpowering effect. The acoustics are not perfect, but I often find myself comparing them to speakers of twice the price. A great bargain that one should not pass up.

These speakers cost me 40$ and they sound great for speakers that cost me 40$. If you are an audiophile looking for the perfect sound, keep looking, but these speakers are fantastic for the value. Highly recommended.

I love these speakers. After enjoying them in my small computer room, I purchased these as a gift for my daughter and son-in-law who watch DVD's on their computer screen. Now, they'll not only actually hear them but hear them with speakers that give clarity and depth (with minimal investment of money!)I tried to order black speakers, but white ones arrived. Good thing the sound isn't impacted!

Excellent sound in both quality and volume, and nice compact size for the satellite speakers.My only negative point would be the tendency for the speakers' external volume controls to default to a setting of zero after some restarts of the computer, which means I have to hit the plus volume control on the right speaker before I can hear the speakers.

At first I thought this was a good product but when I turned it up a LITTLE, the bass distorted. The treble was fine, though. So, if you want bass that doesn't distort, this is not the product for you.

I have a portable XM radio for work and needed a pair a speakers and found these JBLs and the price was incredible, I ordered them and the set up easy and the sound was JBL all the way deep bass and rich treble. I you need speakers for an Ipod or laptop or XM I give these a thumbs up on quality, sound and great price. JBL Creature II 3-Piece Powered Speaker System

OMG. These speakers produce such sound! Its truly amazing how great these speakers sound and can actually echo with clear precise clarity. I think they sound better than the Bose CD player. The bass is so fun! If you love music and your ipod, you will LOVE these speakers. I bought a set for my sis-in-law and one for me. You gotta get them!

I was looking for a good yet cheap set of speakers and came across the JBL Creature speakers. The looks got me right away and I am really satisfied with the sound quality. The sound clarity and bass is good and the speakers deliver sound to most corners of the room. The tweeters are surprisingly powerful for their size and I love the touch volume control.I recommend this product for an average sized bedroom or a small living room.

Great sound, bass works amazing. People love the look. The sound control on the speakers is great, and is an instant change in volume.I'd recommend these for anyone who wants some nice speakers, but doesn't want to pay a fortune for them.

This speaker system will give you an excellent sound quality and an awesome design FOR its price. The only thing I missed is a remote control. Despite that, I think it can not be beated it in this price range.

Little speakers, medium sized sub-woofer, inmense joy...After I plugged this sound system to my computer for the first time, I was in shocked. They sounded so perfectly and had so much power!! I didn;t expect that at all. They were a huge shock in the sense that I got so much more for my money than I originally thought I would. I recommend these to anyone that wants something just below surround sound system, they will be truly an ear candy.

Classic case of 'looks good, sounds horrible'. And I don't mean they sound marginal. The sound IS that bad. Which is is disappointing because there are very few PC/MAC speaker setups that have white cables (cabling) rather than black if you're concerned about that sort of thing.

Cute product.... fast delivery... arrived in excellent shape. I was, however, somewhat disappointed with the product overall. "Loudest" volume is still too soft to be heard mere feet from the computer. The on/off button is on the BACK of the subwoofer... not too convenient. Would not buy it again.

I was very excited when my JBL Creature II came in the mail. I sat down went over the set up instructions, which were pretty self explanatory. After 2 hours of trying to get the speakers to work, & after both "not very helpful" trouble shooting points failed. I had to return the unit. The problem was that both the little speakers would not work at all! I could hear sound from the main sub woofer unit, but not the speakers.... So this assured me it was the creature's problem & not my computer. It was very annoying having to return a brand new speaker set I just bought.

I was looking for something to take with me to a summer camp. I have a non-iPod MP3 player, which rules out a lot of the nifty iPod accessories (including portable speakers).Pros - Decent sound for under $50.Cons - Not as portable as I'd like. The woofer unit, while cool looking, lacks a handle for easy transport ... The satellite speakers plugs have have unique shapes to make sure they are plugged into the proper receptables on the woofer, and it took me a minute to figure them out ... These speakers are not as loud as I would like them to be, especially outdoors. If you want to engage in speaker wars with your neighbor, perhaps this is not the product for you.Overall, though, a good value for the money.

Really good value. There is no other speaker on the market that looks this cool! The sound is really good considering it is a 2.1 system. The bass has to be turned way down unless you want to thump your neighbors (ahh! apartment life!). Big recommendation, get it while it's still on sale, notice the difference in prices for the white as opposed to the silver. If all you have is your onboard 2.1 sound, then this is a no brainer.

I just did recieve my new creature and it's simply perfect. Beside my Macbook looks great, it's sound is amazing. I don't know why Bose is so EXPENSIVE, but I do know that this speakers are the second best investment in my life (first one was my first Macbook). You must know the final price I've paid for it was nearly U$125 (int'l shipping, taxes, etc), but I'm very happy!!!

I'm not too happy that I made this purchase for the sound quality is fair at best, and the volume is lacking. I would return the speakers, but the packaging is too difficult to put back in the box, so I will likely be giving the speakers away.

This 3 piece rocks!!! Sound clarity is superb even at high decibals. Highs and lows are phenomenal. Mid range is good, but typical of satilite type sets. I am using this to replace my internal LCD 37" Samsung television. No distortion. just clear sounds and new sounds that are coming out of the woodworks. Ok, I don't live in a mansion, but this is great for our family room of 24x18'

Bought these JBLs for $38 and I have to say the are phenominal for the price the bass is rich, the audio is clear the only drawback is the controls the touch sensative volume controls and oddly labled bass and trebble controls are the only drawbacks to this system

I'll make this short and sweet; You will be very hard pressed to find a compact portable speaker system, for both computer and MP3, with better sound reproduction capabilities for the money. The bass response is impressive and the highs are as well. Pay no attention to the naysayers who complain about the controls. A child could figure them out. Bottom line: You will not be disappointed, it's a great system for the money.

I don't think it is possible to find a better multimedia speaker deal for under $40.00. The speakers set up easily and, despite their looks, can stay fairly inconspicuous. I have mine set up on top of our armoir withsome decorative plants to hide the sub. I am using this with the excellent AirPort Express to pipe my iTunes collection into the living room.

These speakers are great!! I purchased this system and when it arrived the right speaker didn't work, but no problem. Amazon emailed me a return shipping label and sent out a new speaker system immediately. I received the new one and it sounds great. I'm using it to play with my MP3(I'm not an IPOD fan), and the bass is great. It's not a blast you out of the water system, but for my needs it's plays loud enough. For the price I would recommend it.

For $40, I don't know if you can get better speakers. They look amazing with my white Macbook! The volume range is great, the bass KICKS when you turn it up, the sound is clean, and I am very happy I did not buy $300 Bose speakers. Also, just used them at a party, they get loud enough to dance to in the living room but not loud enough to dance to all the way in the kitchen. Great deal. The plugs are a little tricky (have to match up the triangles/squares... why?) and confuses people.

Bought a set of these tonight and plugged them in when I got home. About 10 minutes later, I unplugged them and reboxed them up. Gonna return them tomorrow.so....Well, to be fair, let me give the whole story.First, I got these at CompUSA, which I have never had much luck with, but that is a personal thing I suppose. I only mention it however, because once I opened up the box, there was a duplicate set of manuals (one of which was not wrapped like the other one). It seemed like they might have been opened before. But that's not necessarily bad. Maybe they just did not work for someone else.I was shopping for them because I am redoing my computer/media room and the speakers I have now are real estate hogs. I have one of the Logitech 5.1 THX sets and I love them, but I have no way to utilize the rear speakers on this particular computer and the bass unit is a bit bigger than I can use. So...I went down and grabbed this little 2.1 set up after reading a few decent reviews. I liked the looks and they sounded pretty good in the store compared the the others.Anyways, they are not bad, but they are pretty "thin" and "tinny." There is very little if any mid range and the bass, once I tested it out on a variety on styles of music and spoken word tracks, sounded more "blurred" than like proper bass.So the sound was disappointing, but they are only $100 speakers, so...But then I noticed that the little green light on the left speaker went out. I played with it for a bit then noticed that that jack in the back of the bass unit was depressed and angled lower than the others. Bottom line, I could not get the cord to stay plugged into it for more than a minute or so.So, I have a faulty unit that may not really speak to the speakers that much. True. But I do think I got a good sample of the speaker sound, and it was lacking. The unit also seems a bit fragile as the plastic, while looking nice, is very lightweight and just looked fragile. My Logitech speakers, because of their stupid short cords (short for me, that is) fall off my desk all the time when I am moving things around and I fear that if one of these JBLs fell onto my carpet it would break.Anyways, I have spent too much time saying too little probably, but there you have it. I would agree with others who say that the sound is lacking...sub-par. I also agree with others who say the unit itself is fairly flimsy. The style is great and I love the small footprint. That is what I really wanted them for. But the sound and the build quality were not worth it for me. Maybe they will be good for you. Just keep your receipt and all your packing material. : )

I bought this speaker system thinking that it looked like it could do the job. Big disappointment, it worked for about 3 weeks and then totally just quit. Save your money and buy something else!

These are simply great!!One review said that the little speakers don't work..but I think that's because you didn't properly plug them.They have shape at the end of cord and have to plug intight. Speakers are more powerful than you'd imaginethese little ones to spit out.

Wow, not going to lie. I bought these speakers becuase a buddy of mine had them, and I couldn't live without. Sweet looking, incredibly small, great base and treble. I would buy these hands down over any other $50-60 dollar speakers on the market. Great buy!
