I am decently pleased with the speakers, they're stylish no doubt about that, but if you are looking for any kind of bass what so ever these are most certainly not for you. I didn't mind not having bass for my computer because i have 1500 watt home theater system with an ipod dock so if i feel like cranking the tunes or watching movies with explosions n such i have that; i pretty much just didnt want to have to listen to audio through my laptop speakers. the mids and highs do fairly well and it generates enough deep tones to create a nice contrast, as long as you keep the volume at decent level the sound is quite crisp. the touch volume design is very nice but the power button on the back of the sub makes it a pain to keep on the ground, so mine just sits behind the laptop. All in all they are worth the $63 i spent, but i think if i could make my decision again i would try looking for something with a little more bass, even with having a great system already in my room something just seems wrong about a subwoofer speaker being only 3" with 15 watts of total power. so my suggestion is if this will be the main source for your audio experience its worth spending more on a different 2.1 system with more "oomph", but if all your looking for is a crisp clean sound with no real desire for bass these will do fine.

I bought this to my room to connect with PS3, now i can experience a smooth and perfect sound watching movies in my small room. Very nice sound for this JBL Creature!!!

got these speakers to beef up my sound on my new computer because i like to listen to music while i work. the sound is crisp and clear even with bass cranked. while they won't make the windows rattle, they definitely will fill the room with sound. besides that, they look really cool!

I really love these speakers. The sound quality is amazing. The only reason I give them 4 stars is because the bass gets a little distorted at higher volumes, but that isn't really what these speakers are designed for. I would highly recommend these to anyone.

I replaced my Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System with Subwoofer for these JBL III. The sounds seems lower, but much crisper. The JBL bass is much louder. I had this for 2 months and the power cable wire is missing up. The right speaker is giving out because of this. I have to move the wire left and right to find the sweet spot. You know how that goes...eventually it will stop working completely. I could just replace the power cable, but I paid good money for it to last more then 2 months.

I got this for my son in law for Christmas. He was thrilled with it. Everyone was amazed by the sound quality. He was so worried something would happen to it on the flight home. It is new age looking and next generation sound!

fantastic sound and even better price. i am a young adult and am in love with this product. sound is perfect and the bass goes very well with it. happy i bought this highly recommend. only problem is at and near the max volume the quality of the speakers and bass is lower and not as good but besides that its good.

I was extremely happy with this product, which I paid less than $70 for. It was sleek, lightweight, and portable. For the price, it delivered a crisp sound with amazing bass tones. I've had it for 3 months, and now the "audio in" is such that one must fiddle with the cable in order for all of the sound to register. I used this product as anyone would, so I feel comfortable saying that this is an indication of poor quality.When it works, it's great. But it's more fragile than it seems, apparently.

I was on the road working and my travel speakers (Audio engine A2) finally gave out on me. After researching for 2 days I decided on these and kept my fingers crossed that they would do the job. Yes they did small, powerful and relatively inexpensive compared to my old speakers ($200.00) Only thing is I wish they had a bit more mid range but for the money and the portability they are great. I would definitely buy them again...

I bought these speakers and had connection problems and it seems that the cable from the computer to the speakers is bad, I changed it and problem solved. The speakers should be placed on the floor not on desks or tables to hear the bass well. Excellent product

Originally i thought judging by the specs that this product would last.Well,I was definetly wrong. Out of the box it had a nice sleek appearance, and I really liked the ability to increase the volume directly from the subwoofer.I noticed after powering it up it had some kind of loud feedback sound being generated...Hmm...Shut it off, and re-started my pc, making sure the sound level was completly minimized! Thought it was the fact that it was being connected to a 3.5mm jack, so instead of directly going into pc port, I used a sound card adapter w/headphone jack/mic...Did not change anything!Bottom line I proceeded to return it, and received another set, hoping that only that set was defecctive..Nope same behaviors/results w/second set!!! Yike it was nothing but a pure heaadache, and not to mention a waste of time...I am quite disturbed because JBL usually covers everything I thought in terms of design/performance..:-(If this product was given to me as a gift I would only let it sit as a display, since the functionality is useless.

Aight, so i purchased these speaks cuz they had good reviews and they were a good price. Also, i have previously owned JBL speakers and I trust their brand. After receiving the speakers I took 'em out of tha box and assembled 'em. It was extremely easy to get the speakers working, you just put in four plugs and your set. Then I proceeded to play some music. First, i wanted to test the sub so i put on some real thug shiiii. Then after testing the sub I moved on to some reggae then some classic rock. The speakers performed well (with proper adjustments to treble and bass and the equalizer on my itunes, which took like 2 mins) however, there was some distortion on the satellite speakers, which was disappointing, but hey i only payed 62 for the set so im not complaining.Overall, I would recommend these speakers to anyone who is just looking to jam out in their bedroom, dormroom, kitchen, whatever and dont want to spend alot on some bose or other high-end speakers. Just keep in mind that while the quality of the sound these speakers produce is greatttt (especially for their price) it is still not top notch, so if ur lookin for TOP NOTCH sound quality you may want to invest your money in some other speakers.

I have a set of the original JBL Creature speakers on my Mac. Loved the sound, but was not sure if the Creature IIIs would be as good. They sound just as good as the originals. Its still hard to believe how such a rich, full sound can be made by such small speakers. The only difference between the original Creatures and the IIIs is the color (used to be silver) and the originals have a small LED in the bottom of each satellite speaker to indicate they are turned on. Highly recommend.

The speakers work very well, I like the design is sleek and doesn't take up tons of space. The other good thing about them is that you can position the two smaller speakers how ever works best.

I was spectacularly blown away by this speaker system. Both the sound quality of the satellites and the bass coming from the sub help me to give them the title of sensational. For the price range that these are sold at, they are the best choice for anyone who would be looking for a system that will knock their socks off. I currently use them as a sort of surround sound system, along with some other speakers, and they perform phenomenally. They put out such crystal clear sound that is so unknown in small systems of this nature. I was so impressed with them that I am considering buying a second set for my basement, and highly recommend them to anyone who would like to own anything from a compact set of computer speakers to an entertainment center.

Naturally after super satisfactory time with JBL Creature I, I checked the reviews out, and purchased JBL Creature III. The weight of III over I has gone down substantially by about 50 percent, about normal for new products, what not normal is the poor quality and wonky connectors. My JBL III is still working after 6 months, but my Apple iMac speakers have just about as much volume, and far less hiss. The culprit appears to be the wonky connectors on JBL III. I don't see any case for retuning the item, because it still "working". If I drop down a big textbook on my desk, the adjacent Creature III can go louder or the volume disappears. I won't be buying Creature IV.

Good quality speakers, would be better if they were wireless. I use them for my computer and so far have had no problems with them. I would prefer if the power button was on the tweeter speakers instead of the sub because it's annoying bending over to turn off.

The Darth Vader enclosure was what initially attracted me to this along with the JBL name. It turned out to be a solid system and very attractive as a general purpose speaker system.Pros:* compact size satellites and subwoofer* good sound qualityCons:* volume knobs on subwoofer seem to go in the opposite direction than indicated* sound quality diminishes at higher volumes* volume controls on satellite speaker are a bit difficult to adjust at timesOverall, I'm very happy with the purchase and would recommend it to others. No regrets.

These speakers produced decent treble and bass sound combination for a small den/office. It's not meant for larger room. We used these Creatures all the time for listening a different types of music on the computer, games and mp3 players. However the weight of Creatures III bass speakers are lighter when compared to the previous generation Creatures II. Possibly they made the plastic thinner and used smaller components inside. The sound is good but IMHO - the older generation CreaturesII have better overall sounding. The wires connecting to the two small speakers are short and one of the plugs uses the old PS2 style to prevent missed wiring. For the other wire, we had to use a RCA extender & another RCA cable to make our wire routing work. However, for the sound vs. price range (~$65-75)- the sounds from Creatures III are better than than many of the competitors that we've listened to. Overall we enjoyed the sound generated from these Creatures III.

If you want excellent sounding speakers that don't take up a lot of space and won't put a huge dent in your wallet, these are the ones to buy. They definitely are small, but you wouldn't know it for the sound. Clean incredible sound with no distortion at normal listening levels. If you want to shake the walls and wake the neighbors, look elsewhere. Bottom line is that you're not going to get better performance in a speaker system anywhere near this price range.I've read other's complaints about the volume controls on the speakers. Personally, I like the setup. Tap right button to raise volume, left button to lower it. Separate knobs on the sub for bass/ treble. This isn't rocket science, people. Highly recommended.

Speakers have always been an area, for one reason or another, that I always skimp on. It's the last piece of equipment in my current computer that needed upgraded and I noticed it quite badly after I went to a new sound card. Why spend 100 dollars on an audio processor to listen to it through glorified tin cans.After a lot of research I decided on these speakers. I don't regret the decision at all. They have a really small footprint on my already crowded desk, fill my office with crystal clear audio and sound fantastic. They're a huge update to the Harmon/Kardon HK195s I was using. Everything sounds so much better. I definitely would buy these speakers again.

Got my Beautiful JBL Speakers and I was so excited. Too bad beautiful was all they ended up being. Two days later... they sopped working. I tried every trouble shooting tip in the book, but it just didn't happen for me. I expected a bit more since I paid a bit more :o/Sigh... on to the next one I guess.

Don't get me wrong, they're good quality and all; but not what I was expecting. I finally replaced my harmon/kardon soundstick 2s and these JBLs just can't keep up with the old ones. Obviously, the soundsticks cost twice as much, but they have at least twice the power. The JBL subwoofer is extremely lacking in power, but makes up for it in sound quality. Long story short, I wish I would have gotten the new H/K soundsticks.....

These speakers are pretty awesome. The shape is very unique and pretty much an eye turner when entertaining guests and family. For how small these things are, they have excellent sound quality. I'm not an expert on speakers/sound/etc but I do love music, and for the size of these to have crisp clear music play through - is an A+ in my book. The subwoofer has excellent output, it doesn't rattle your windows but it feels like the base is beating in your chest (Yeah, it's that awesome!) For $64 you really can't beat the price for the quality of sound that the Creature III produces. I highly recommend this set of speakers for the home/office, they'd probably work awesome in your garage/workshop!

I bought these speakers to give my laptop good kicking sound. The price is right for the sound and sheer coolness of the design speaks for itself. It's incredible that such crisp treble and kickin' bass is packed into a small speaker set. This is another reason that moved me to get these: they fitted my small home desk very neatly, although the base was a bit bigger than i expected.On the down side, the treble and bass controls are the inverse of what is printed in the base. Rotating the treble control towards the + sign actually decreases the treble. The same happens with the bass control. It's a minor annoyance but i would expect the people at JBL to get something as simple as this straight. Tech support was not helpful and their first response was a bit on the impolite side. The people at JBL say this counter-intuitively operation is actually the way they were designed. I ended up returning the first speaker set i got because whenever i moved the left speaker a little it would lose sound completely. Make sure to check yours thoroughly, because i got good support only from amazon.com but that will last only the first 30 days.I am satisfied with the speakers and really love the sound and design, so i'm more than happy to keep them. Unfortunately, impolite tech support, counter-intuitive operation and a wire soldered wrong do not speak very highly of JBL.

Is it really possible to buy a speaker set that sounds this good and costs so little? Yes it is. These speakers sound great. No, they are not pro studio monitors. But for what they are they can not be beat, even for twice the price. If you are looking for outstanding clean highs with just enough bass rumble to warm the soul, these are the right choice for you. With the money you save on these you can expand your music library :)

I was searching for a good set of 2.1 speakers for my desktop. I was not concerned with size, color, brand, or features. The only thing I cared about was the sound, clarity, and bass reproduction. Nothing else mattered to me, well maybe price too. For under a 100, my options were slim for what I wanted. I almost made the mistake of buying the Bose companion 2.0. I have owned klipsch 2.1/5.1, Logitech z-5/v20/z5500, and cambridge soundworks 5.1/2.1. These speakers really do produce excellent sound, the clarity and bass are not perfect but very close that I can't really tell the difference. It just sounds great. For the price, it's worth every penny.

An iHome I had gotten as a gift a few years ago died, so I was in the market for a new set of speakers. I'm a college student with a house so, obviously I needed something with a little more "oomph" to it. Man, the JBL Creature III did not disappoint. Easy set-up, great sound for everyday listening, and a whole lot of bang for when you need it. Best speaker buy for the money. As well, my buddy has had his original "Creature" sub+speaker set for nearly 4 years now. Durable and high quality? Get out, but no, it's true. Definitely invest.

I received this system about 3 weeks after i ordered it, of course shipping will take a bit longer to Hawaii, so I cannot complain. The box itself was extremely light, and opening and setting it up couldnt be much easier. The problem I ran into was where exactly I was going to put it. At first I placed it right on top of my desk, but then noticed that the Bass didnt have much feeling-- I then placed the sub on the floor, and it performed perfectly. So think about where you put it first--

The subwoofer died after 9 months of moderate use. The sound was decent but nothing to brag about. I liked the fact that the speakers were small and took up litle space. Unfortunately, the subwoofer has died. I've never owned a set of speakers/subwoofer that lasted for such a short amount of time. I paid twice what amazon is charging now. They may be worth the asking price now but definately not worth risking 130 bucks.

My roomie had a Creature II and I was hoping that the next generation was going to be at least as good as the last--- and it is! Great look, sound, feel; everything. It'd be nice if the cords were longer, but they're just right for me; I mainly use it to pump the music or movie from my laptop. Great bass (I listen to folk and jazz and alternative) for the music I like. I recommend it!

I liked the original JBL Creature very much --- while it lasted. All the laudatory remarks in the other reviews are true --- except you might need to put a six year expiration date on them. If JBL is making the satellites of the Creature III out of the same material they used in my original JBL Creature, the suspension/compliance material will disintegrate in 6 years - I mean, shred into tatters, leaving buzzing distortion where beautiful music once was ... BOTH satellite speakers --- in splendid synchronized obsolescence. The subwoofer appears to be o.k. I would salvage the subwoofer except that the system requires the satellite be plugged in with the electrostatic volume control.Now, the question is, did JBL choose a material that is bound to disintegrate in 6 years, or was there just a bad batch of foam that got mixed into the production? I have come across other reports of Creature satellite disintegration on the web. But not massive numbers of reports. That would imply the "bad batch" explanation. In which case you shouldn't have to worry much about this problem in any set you would buy.My only other complaint about the JBL Creature is that the midrange was weak - which is a common complaint in reviews of the JBL Creature II, but this could be partially compensated for by the equalizer in iTunes. I wonder whether the Creature III has been able to achieve a more even frequency response than the original.

I really like this speaker. I really do. It's small, simple, sophisticated. I bought this speaker for my room so don't need anything too powerful. I was deciding between JBL and logitech z5500. The logitech is much heavier, bigger subwoofer, and priced almost twice as JBL.Easy choice.1 star got deducted because I kinda hate the volume button. It was expected though, but I didn't know it was going to be this annoying. The problem is that because the satellite speaker was so light, whenever I tried to change the volume I accidentally moved the speaker. Now this is one of my OCDs.. whenever I moved the speaker out of its position, I spent a great amount of time to get it back into its place, to make sure its symmetrical with the other one.Minor complaint, but good enough to 1 star deduction..Overall very satisfied with the purchase... for the amount I paid this is a very good speaker..

I wanted a nice simple sound system for my Imac. I knew someone who had the older white set, I always liked the sound. So when I found the new version ,it was a no-brainer. The speakers sound great , when I'm listening to pandora or itunes.

Well, I don't know how to rate these speakers.They sounded fantastic,for two weeks then they started to hum and about an hour later that was it,belly up.No sound at all.I remember reading a review about someone having the same problem,I wish I listened ,now I have to send them back, I think I'll get my money back,and try something else!!!

So I just got these in the mail today and took them out of the package and was almost really mad--they are so small! I thought there could be no way that these little things would be worth the $100 I just paid for them. But then once I hooked them up I was astonished! The quality and sound of them is fantastic and blows the $100 Altec Lansing set I had before.I quickly tried all sorts of music, from bass-heavy techno to screaming guitar metal and found that they remained quite crisp and clear for both, with heavy bass and full sound. Honestly, as they sit here on my desk the sound just fills the room and I don't know how the little things do it. Seriously, they are just three little cool looking things and somehow they are filling this whole room with sound.Now of course its not a high end system and I've seen things more powerful but for such a compact, cool looking, $100 system, I'd definitely say this is top notch.

The sound this system produces is totally unmatched for a computer speaker system. When I finally made the change to MP4 and began the arduous task of converting my audio collection of 500+ CD's to MP4's, I thought that my next task would be to go out shopping for a new home stereo and a MP3 player that could hook up to it so I could utilize the fruits of my labor. Well let's say that I am only in the market now for a MP3 player for remote use but am no longer planning on purchasing a new home stereo for playing my audio files, because I found the JBL Creatures. Hooking these up to my home computer has turned my home computer into a phenominally sounding home stereo in my living room. Everyone that has stopped by my home has their jaws uncontrollably drop to the floor in awe when they discover all of those great sounds are coming from this unique and stylish little set of computer speakers. You have to believe me, this is the best computer speaker system ever invented. I recommend that the JBL Creatures be your next computer accessory investment...or for that matter...your next home audio investment. I know if you do buy these, I will be reading your 5 Star review in here soon too.

I bought these speakers with a gift card and had been eyeing them out for a while. I have them connected to my computer and television and movies and games sound great. Plus the little speakers look great. I only wish there was a remote to wirelessly control the volume.

My friend's wife has one of these...I saw it and like the way how it looked and sound. So I order one right then and there. I was so excited to receive it. No problems with my package it would have arrived as shedule if my dumb neighbor would have stop sending ups away all because he didn't know that my apt was at the side. I love this product, I use it for my laptop while watching movies and playing pandora on my iPhone. Its loud enough to have a house party sou da like a dvd surround system. I am very satisfied and would recommend it to my friends/family :).

This speaker package is a great buy if your looking for external speakers for computer, TV or Ipod. Work great, easy to set up and use. Great bass and easily adjustable bass/treble buttons on sub woofer. After the first few days, rumbling started happening in the satellites even when the bass was turned all the way down. I think it's a defect in these specific speakers because they otherwise work great. returning and looking into buying a different pair.

I bought these speakers in 2003 from the Apple store and they are still working great. They have survived many, many moves. I can't count the number of times I've spilled drinks on them. The sound is great and they turn up very very loud, too. They are so tiny, they will fit anywhere.The only only drawback is the subwoofer makes an awkward footrest. I could get a real footrest, I guess. But the subwoofer is right there. ...Oh and the power supply buzzes, but I imagine that's because it's been plugged in for the last seven years and is very very angry.

Great value. Great sound. Great looks. Easy set up. For the money, JBL's Creature lll computer speakers imo are a perfect choice.
