External speakers do not come any cooler than these! The looks are simply terrific. No one ever fails to notice them and the green glowing lights. And it is not just the looks, the sound will rock you. I got these for my teenager. They are easy to plug into the computer or CD player or iPod. The Creatures will pump out enough volume to rattle my cage when I am in another room. The quality of the sound is also very good. The bass subwoofer generates a solid, deep bass thump to accompany the bright, clear sounding speakers. The placement of the speakers is not critical.You might compare these to the Harmon/Kardon Sound Sticks. I use the Soundsticks at my own computer and they have a very different sound. The difference to me is in the mid range sounds and spatial imaging. But you pay almost twice as much to get that, Soundsticks are fussy about placement and they do not sound as good when played at the highest volumes that the Creatures can reach. The current price makes the Creatures an excellent bargain.

I'm very pleased with the quality of the sound. If you are not statisfied with your PC speakers the creature is the answer. Connect it to your ipod and you have a complete stero system. aAnd it's very portable.

Simply put these speakers sound and look great. While the subwoofer's size is about average the two speakers are very small and don't clutter up your desktop. Although you'll be surprised listening to these little speekers as they pack a powerful punch and sound great at any volume. Final note, if you own a Mac these speakers are exactely what its been waiting for, if you use a PC then they're still a great additon.

FOR SOME REASON I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT THEDESCRIPTION SAID THESE WERE WIRELESS SPEAKERS. I HAVETO RETURN THEM, BUT I REALLY DON'T KNOW IF THE QUALITYOF THE SOUND IS GOOD OR NOT.

Expensive conversation piece.Bass? What Bass? That's more like muffled sound.Higher frequencies? Terrible "beeper" speaker that hurts your ears.Mid-range? These speakers kill any voice, even bad voices - it hurts your ears. No Mid-ranges, but only high-pitched quasi-voice sound... I am putting them back in the box to give them to my nephew who might have a use for them with his x-box, etc.*UPDATE* I gave these to my nephew. He says "dude, that's cool!..."

My problem is that the "touch" sensitive volume controls on the little speakers gets stuck, either too loud or no sound at all.Oh yeah, you can't do anything to FIX the problem. So, Get a good deal, and then not be able to use them. Ever ask yourself WHY the price deal??? Now you know why!

After buying an iPod earlier this year and trying these speakers out at the Apple Store, I felt compelled to buy them on eBay. Style-wise they are a perfect match for the iPod. Sound-wise, the set of Altec Lansing speakers I planned to replace with the Creatures are a bit better. I did not realize this until putting both sets back to back, but the bass is significantly more powerful on Altec Lansing 2100s. As you may have read in reviews of the Altec Lansing speakers, they lack a bit when it comes to mid-range sounds. Because of this, if you're going for the over-all sound, you may be better off with the Creatures. If you're out for power, the Altec Lansing set is where you'll get closest to a regular stereo. Unless you're totally set on the Creatures, try out Altec Lansing 2100s and see what you think. They are considerably cheaper as well. Don't believe what you hear about Creature II speakers being the best of the price range. There are some great computer speakers on the market these days. You really need to compare them back to back and with different music to really appreciate the differences.

I do not see how you can beat these speakers for the price here at amazon.com. The sound is great at all freq's and the lows are mellow and sound very good. One very nice feature is the volume control being handy on the right speaker and it gives very even level adjustment. None of the digital jumping on the volume control as with some speakers. I love the way they look and they go perfectly with my new G5 iMac. Hooking them up could not be easier and they have good quality connectors and cables. Go for these puppies I think you will be very happy with them.

my friends proudly showed me these speakers that they are able to plug right into their Ipod. the futuristic design is wonderful. trouble is, they sound terrible. my old $58 boom box has a far fuller sound then these. these kinda sound like my childhood AM transistor radio - tinny, no mid-range. if you want decent sounding speakers and not just pretty things, keep looking...

I REALLY wanted to like these speakers. They looked futuristic like many of the other items in my office. I am going from a 6-year old pair of Altec Lansing speakers with sub to something a little newer. These were attrocious. The bass made the plastic sub rattle and was weak compared to what I am used to. I am sending these back and buying something from Altec Lansing. These might be ok for someone that has nothing.

I overpaid :( i payed $99 at my local electronics store but these little speakers are AMAZING! the sound quality is so good and the sub-woofer is amazing! And they also look great :). They are increidbly easy to set up. I got these to replace my old Sony cd play with a 51 disk changer when i got my ipod because the sony took up way to much room. These are excellent speakers that can easily replace a bedroom stereo system. I highly reccomend gettint these speakers :)

I bought these speakers for my office to plug into my JVC Sirius sattellite radio, which comes with a line-level output. These speakers rock. What a bargain. They look good in my office, have clean tight sound at low "office-level" volumes, and kick when I need to work on the weekends. A Big Thumbs Up. Only down side is a bit pricey

These speakers look really cool. But i was disapointed by its volume.......I use it to plug it to my laptop, and the sound is loud only when u sit right in front of ur computer...I ceratinly expected it to be much louder !!!However, the sound quality is really good. I would recommend it for someone who wants to use it just as an enhancement to their PC speakers and is not particular about the volume.

These speakers are incredible! They are a breeze to set up and control, the sound quality is outstanding, and the bass and treble controls have a wide range. Plus, they look really cool. Definitely a good purchase to make.

I needed some decent speakers for my office that I could plug my laptop into and listen to music with some actual range and decent sound quality.For 70 bucks these are hard to beat. No drivers are needed, they plug and play in about a minute, and the sound is great for the size.I don't understand how some people have had trouble with set up, since there isn't any. The controls are sensitive and easy to use. I like being able to adjust the volume on the speaker itself.And they are definitely a talking point when people see them in my office!

The sound clarity is very high (I have to admit), BUT its either too much or not enough bass, you see there are two knobs on the sub-woofer one for treble (which is fine) and the other for bass and that is were the problem is, when its on the middle the bass is to much, and if you turn it down a bit you lose most of the bass. So it's very hard to balance.I would suggest a two speaker set (with out a sub-woofer)

the speakers are really nice, esp. the bass.i ordered them by standard shipping yesterday, and I got them this morning, which was really surprising.the speakers are small enough not to take much space on desk and the sound quality is still nicesetting it up was very easy, page 1 of the instruction is all you need. or simply just plug in the wires with matching colors.

These speakers are AWESOME if you only want them to play music on your PC. Of course, with only 2.1 channels, they are not as well suited for gaming...The sound quality is outstanding, IF properly set up. The trick is getting the volume, bass and treble levels correct. See, Windows has these settings, iTunes has another set of these settings (independent from Windows), and the sub in this set has these settings (independent from Windows and iTunes). You have to play with these settings for a while to get the most out of these speakers, or else you can hear the clipping/overdriving of the audio signal. Once you do find the sweet spot though... These speakers ROCK. Just a side note... all of my MP3s are encoded at 320kbs, so that may help, as I don't have 128kbs garbage files to begin with...

The only thing these speakers have going for them is their unusual appearance. The touch-sensitive volume control is needlessly complex (why would anyone consider it better than, say, a KNOB?), and offer no indication of how loud the volume is. The volume control stopped working entirely five minutes after I started using the speakers.The bass was fine, but the sound was tinny and crackly no matter what I set the treble to. And the sound quality is downright awful from a distance... not only can these not fill a room with sound, but they don't sound right unless you're sitting right in front of your computer.

Just got mine from Amazon, ordered Silver but got Grey. Set them up anyway and they blew my head away on my G5. S will let you off for the colour caus there mega.Put them through Itunes express. put them in front room. No need for a system. Great sound.

These guys sound great for the price and their size, but one month after I bought them the touch button volume stopped working. When you change volume (when my still worked) it makes an annoying clicking sound through the speakers.I took off a star for the volume problem, but the sound alone is worth the purchase. They far outperform any other 3-piece in this price range.

Okay. These speakers are THE best speakers you can get for under 100 bucks. They have wonderful bass quality. (I can shake the house). They are about 3" x 3" and have the nice blue light under them. They take litterally no time to set up and they work with my iPod and iBook. They look like apple made them for this computer. If you have a PC they work great too. The heat sensitive volume control is really cool (even though I use the volume control on my computer). Overall these are great speakers for the money and have wonderful soudn quality. They also look great!

The JBL Creature II Speakers are jsut about the best spekers you can get for $100.I just got them and set them up and wow i am lisin to audioslave like never before!!!
