SO I got these speakers as a gift when I was believe it or not 14 years old. For those of you who are wondering that was 9 years ago. I first got them to hook up to a small tv when I got my first xbox my freshman year of high school. Since them I have used them for 3 different laptops and 2 desktop computers and they have out lived all of them. The sound is fantastic for its size and honestly maybe I got lucky but they seem to have aged very well and the sound has gotten better as they wore in. My only complaint so far is that the touch controlls for the volume on the satallite are a little touchy and dont always work. After nine years I finnaly Broke that right speaker while moving and I've enjoyed the system so much I just bought a replacement so I could keep it.

These speakers sound awesome. I can't give them 5 stars though because the low end is very weak. I am a multimedia producer which includes lots of audio production and these just don't cut it. Bass drops are almost inaudible because the sound is below the frequency that these speakers can handle. I really like the speakers but just can't use them to EQ my bass sounds. For the price and sound quality, you get a great desktop speaker system...PS: these speakers sound wicked when hooked up to my TV and PS3

I bought these to sit under my monitor on a dual screen setup. The speakers are just tall enough to slide beneath the monitor easily. They are clear, and having bass is pretty cool now. I used to own creature 1s, and these aren't much different. the creature 1s used to have a trrs plug, but now have a ps/2 connector. (i think). The controls work the same as they used to, and the sound is really good. Nice long cables to do what you need. There aren't lights on the satellites anymore, thank god, but the power switch is still on the subwoofer, which has always been a bad spot for me. The power plug is a bit touchy on my set, but is reliable so long as i don't have to get behind my computer and fiddle around.All in all, I'm very happy.

For the price, I thought this would be a nice gift for my sister on her birthday, she's pretty young but listens to a lot of music so I thought I would get it for her especially because its a product from harman audio. Well, she loved it and listens to music on it all the time. So I thought I would give it a few tests using my music, and I listen to a large variety of music from R&B to Hip-Hop to Rock and some classical, and I also consider myself somewhat of an audiophile.So after listening to it for a while, I knew that this system would not be for me because its basically just not the sound quality I want. And I know they're just computer speakers and sound nice when sitting in front of them but when turning them up a bit and listening to them from halfway in the bedroom they're not as clear as I thought they would be. So in conclusion, these speakers are pretty well built, look nice, and come from a well respected company, therefore, they're nice as a gift. But if ur an audiophile, I would recommend looking at something else in a higher price range.I personally have a 2.1 speaker system that consists of a harman kardon stereo receiver and harman kardon 2.1 speakers with a powered subwoofer that should cost about 900 dollars in my bedroom but I got for about 400 dollars. So if you want something clear and powerful for a bedroom, go for a similar system and look for good deals!

I have JBL Creature III for some months already and I can honestly write my opinion about them.Certainly - design is cool. Amazing shapes as for speakers. Then size and power - unbelievable! I had though already experienced something like this with Creative iTrigue 3330 - also small, but very powerful.I am though disappointed with JBL sensitivity for all disturbances. BT mouse use, screen saver in background makes static noises like hoover on pitch. My BF just cannot stand it as it irritates his ears. I checked all cables, connections - everything is fine. New drivers installed - no change. I asked service about it. They refer to electrostatic disturbances. Well... Where shall I put computer speakers if not by computer? Or where shall I use mouse if not by computer?If it will continue, I leave those, even if they got most compact design.

The sound quality is great as expected. The only thing I'm not a fan of is the volume control. On the older version, you could just tap the + and - to change the volume or mute it. Now you have to press and hold as if it's a button (it's not, it doesn't depress). It tends to slide across my desk this way which gets old after a while.

I bought these speakers to use in my classroom for showing filmclips from the laptop. Initially they were ok for a DVD but anything that was streamed could not be heard. After about 6 uses the volume randomly goes up and down when watching a DVD so it is impossible to hear. I paid about $97 for them...Overpriced, useless and a waste of money. I hoep to return them for a different set.

My brother gave me a white JBL Creature II several years ago and it was absolutely perfect! It didn't take up much space, the sound was excellent given its size, and to top it off it looked totally cool. However a couple of years ago my Creature was stolen and I was heartbroken. (They only stole my Creature and nothing else so that should give you an idea about how cool it was.) I tried to buy another one but apparently they had stopped making them. I didn't want to risk getting a secondhand one on eBay so I read tons of reviews about other brands of speakers and ended up with an excellent unit with a sub-woofer and outstanding sound. But it just wasn't the same as my Creature. :-(Then a couple of months ago, my Dad mentioned that he had recently seen the JBL Creature for sale on Amazon (he has a Creature too and loves it). I immediately checked it out and lo and behold, THERE IT WAS! JBL Creature III! Now black is not quite as cool as white. And the Creature II's satellite speakers each glowed green underneath for a true otherworldly ambiance while the III's don't. (The III has a green light behind the subwoofer to indicate the unit is powered on.) But I felt truly lucky that I was given another chance to have a Creature back in my home office.So now my new Creature is sitting on my desk, taking up minimal space, and providing wonderful sound. I kicked that other brand of top quality speakers to the curb. (Well, actually I gave the unit to a friend's son who rocks out to it in his garage rec room...waste not want not.)

I just got these and paired them with a MAC desktop. My prior speakers were cheap Altec Lansing VS2221 (2.1 system, actually really good but after 4 years, has started shorting out).The JBLs look great, installation is easy. The cords are a little short between the satellites and the subwoofer, so actually a bit of a stretch from the floor to the best position on my desk.Overall, they sound pretty good, but this kind of subwoofer design really limits the bass response. I listen to a lot of different music and some music just sounds flat and the bass seems to be missing some of the lows. The satellites are a bit tinny, but decent given the price. So here are my "test" songs:1. "The Humpty Dance", Digital Underground: the bass groove is what makes this song. These speakers don't do this justice and really it not the same song.2. "Crazy", Gnarls Barkley: this is a tighter bass line, but again, these speakers are lacking here, making the bass "pop" too much.3. "Basin Street Blues", Miles Davis - quite good for this. nice sound overall.4. "Bleed", Meshuggah - horrible sound for this song. The JBLs seem to be missing most of the deeper frequencies which really fill out the guitar's bite. No adjustment of the levels on the speakers could accomodate this deficiency5. "Freddie Freeloader", Miles Davis - pretty good, nice walking bass sound, but even here the bass distorts a little at higher levels. Turn it down and you start to lose a lot of the upright bass in this song.6. "Pictures of You (Extended Dub Mix), The Cure - bass is just ruined, it sounds like i'm listening to a cheap car stereo system.7. "Natural Mystic", Bob Marley - reggae just doesn't come out right with these. Sound starts to distort even at low volume.Summary:For the price, not a bad set of speakers if music is just background for you while you sit at your computer. If you care more about music, then these speakers just won't cut it.Most deep bass sounds will sound ugly. If you listen to hip-hop, metal, or reggae, these just won't cut it. Would be fine for most casual listeners, especially if jazz or simple pop music is your thing.I'm going to return these, look for other speakers. I am surprised as my prior speakers (which also cost about $60-70 had amazing sound, very full and complex. I don't think you have to spend > $100 to get great sound. Sad about this, because these are really cool looking speakers.

Yes its sound amazing when it works problems i come across is within the first 6months or so the power plug need st be wiggled for the on light to work as well as the 1/8in line in can become very fustrating when the power is going on off and input cuts out and last thing is the outlet for 2nd speaker does not work at all so i jus use one speakerOwned creature 1 loved it lasted years louder bass than creature III but this one the foam around speaker disintegrated so wanted to stick with the jbl creature lineWant to rate higher love the compact size and amazing sound but when it does not work hard to say its great for the first few months would have undoubtly gave five star

I bought this speaker during the 2011 thanksgiving sales from amazon for about 69.99usd. The speaker's quality is good, the sound is crispy everything is fine except the "innovative volume controller". The control button is not sensitive enough. You need to press it and wait for like 3 seconds to change the sound volume.The volume controller crashed after one month of using. I contacted their customer support to ask them to replace a new one for me, and it takes around almost 1.5 months to reply me back. Now I shipped the broken one back and they told me they couldn't find the package since I didn't offer them the tracking number. However, I did follow the instruction to ship back the package with the original box and all the order information include the replacement order number. I tried several times to contract their customer service "Shriram Pawar" to see if there is anyway to help me track down the package, and now she just ignored my e-mail and never replied.I will give them 0/5 rate instead of 1/5 if there is an option for that.

These speakers are awesome, for lack of a better word. I don't have to keep adjusting the volume from talking to explosions and I couldn't be happier with this choice. Also I recommend purchasing the 2 yr warranty just in case. It's only $8 and it ma save you headache in the future.CheersH8

These handsome little treble units work well next to my large Mac desktop. I use these mainly for listening to speech and not so much to music, so I have the base unit sitting in the corner on the same counter as my Mac. If you desire real thumping bass you might consider another product. But for my uses this is perfect.

Pros: These speakers are very clear and crisp sounding which I am a fan of. I really enjoy the sound that those little satellites can produce. Quality wise, the speakers seem very well put together. The knobs are solid, and the touch volume buttons are pretty neat. Takes up very little space on my desk as well.Cons: The bass in these speakers are not as good as the previous generation of Creatures. When the volume is turned up beyond normal listening volume the subwoofer starts to rattle and emit tones that are unpleasant to listen to. Not that JBL has a cheap pruduct, but a 3" sub simply cannot accomplish the bass I was personally looking for.Overall, I would say they are very good speakers if you adjust the bass and treble. Don't expect these to bring you booming deep bass, but they are not by any means bad. If JBL had kept the sub at 4" instead of 3", I would give these a 5 star.

bought this to replace a creature one that the tweeters had dry rotted on (after several years 4-5?). I really liked the neat design and decent performance of the original. This design is slightly different, looks similar and performance is similar to original design, but seem just a bit less weaker in the bass department. Not a huge difference, but does seem like a lesser product, would still buy but would prefer the old design.

I bought these speakers for my room, about a month ago, and I'm very happy with them. I was expecting them to sound a little bit more natural, but I guess that was just asking too much in the MP3 era and for this price range. Just like everything else nowadays, the mids are gone and there's a boost in both ends of the spectrum, but that's a 21st century concept. The sub distorts a little bit at max level, but that's not a problem for me, as I usually listen to music at a comfortable level, not blasting, and also they have plenty of power before that distortion. The satellites are quite good and the highs are just what JBL got us used to, meaning, they are simply beautiful. The system is very stylish and looks great in my room. The volume is controlled by 2 touch buttons on one of the satellite speakers and that's pretty cool too.In my opinion these are awesome speakers for the price range, they sound good, they're punchy and very stylish.

Please don't waste your time as I did with these. I bought these because I had a set of creature II for many years before they crapped out. The previous model had a very nice sound and the bass hit very hard but these are very janky and are not loud what so ever. The bass does not hit, the satalites dont tweet. As soon as I got the box I knew it was going to be bad as the box was much much smaller than before and the sub was so very small. SMH

The sound is excellent and the appearance of horns is funny and decorative, but maybe the cables are a little short at the time of placing them far enough away so that the sound is projected best.

They look cool but I swear that my ex's original JBL Creature speakers were very loud and these ones are very quiet. I can have all of the volumes on everything turned up to 100% and the speakers are rattling but I can't hear it very well (unless they are pointed directly at my head) when I'm in the kitchen of my 23ft RV!!! To top it off they turn themselves off randomly and you have to "reset" it by unplugging and plugging the power back in and then turning the volume on the speakers up again... I got these back in Feb of 2012 and it was back in July when the left speaker went out completely, so not even 6 months of full operating. I'm returning them to JBL on the warranty and then I'm going to see if I can get rid of these and get something that actually works. I've had $5 computer speakers from goodwill that have worked better and longer and louder than this... Bummer.

A few years ago I purchased these for my gaming PC, and even now I still use them and they sound great. Easy to use, look snazzy and sound amazing with my ASUS Xonar DS 7.1 Channels PCI Interface Sound Card. Well worth it.

I bought these speakers to replace my old jbl creature II speakers that had been blown. Was very happy with my old ones and was expecting the same quality as the last set and was glad to test them out and find that the quality of the speakers was still there. Only down side to the speakers was the bass didnt hit as hard as the old set however the tweeters were more clear. for the price of the little speakers you cant beat these speakers they are tiny enough for a computer desk and will still blow you away with the quality of sound they produce. for this being my second set i would recommend these to everyone who is looking for a cheaper set of speakers and to people who are looking for a more highend speaker set too.

These are hands down awesome speakers! I give everything 5 stars! Asthetics, quality and performance! I had some 6 year old Edifier MP300 which I loved. After 5 years I noticed the sound coming out distorted so I figured I'd get me some new ones. Well I hit the jackpot with these beauties. My JBL Creature sounds twice as loud as the Edifier and paid almost the same price for them. They were on sale on amazon for under $60 bucks so as soon as I saw that I jumped in and got them.You won't be disappointed with this creature. I'm a musician and they sound almost studio quality.

Considering the low cost of these speakers I can say with all honesty that I am pleased with them. They do not have the sort of chest-pounding bass that huge systems have, but they will fill up a room with detailed sound and a healthy amount of bass.Computer games, TV shows and movies will do just fine in a dorm room with this unit. In its price range it is amazing!

The cables are too short; there is limited space to put the speakers. Also, my husband and I have a JBL 7.1 stereo surround sound system that sounds great so I was hoping for better quality sound out of this system but it will do for good use with the computer.

I've had three sets of the older version 2 model. They were fantastic. This new version is a lower power version and the clarity/quality of output is mediocre.

I have owned two of these JBL's. They sound amazing, especially at their price point. However, they BREAK. The satellite (small) speakers tend to stop working (on both of mine) after about a year of owning them. This is incredibly frustrating because their warrantee ends at 1 year.I will not be buying these a third time. I will be investing slightly more money into a better quality speaker.

These are great speakers for the money. the sound is really incredible, if you put them on a slippery surface they move around and can fall put something rubbery underneath. overall I truly recommend these.

These are absolutely incredible. I have a pair of JBL studio monitors, around $350 each, that I've used for a long time. I needed a little more desk space so I bought these little guys and moved the monitors off of my desk. WOW, believe it or not, I've not missed a beat. These small little speakers have been simply amazing!

Sound great. Easy to setup. Simple audio jack for computers and hand held devices. Satellite speakers have shorter cords than Creature II.

Im very disappointed in these speakers. Jbl is my favorite brand cause they always sound good, not so in this case. It sounds like $20 dollar computer speakers very low in sound & the bass is very distorted . I believed the good reviews but some people are just satisfied with junk sometimes. The speakers are super small but so is the sound that comes out of them. Youve been warned.

These JBL speakers are great with excellent bass and adjustable knobs for the treble and bass plus there's an control on one of the speakers to raise or lower the volume.The finish on these are like an glossy black so it'll attract finger prints.It works well with my samsung s III,laptop,and Ipad.The wires for this system stretch far so it's good for an desk at the office or an shelf at home.

I thought this was a very innovative design. The sound is great for my old(70+) ears. It was very simple to hook up and the subwoofer does not take up a significant amount of space

JBL Creature III Self-Powered Multimedia satellite and subwoofer systemI have JBL soundsticks for over 10 years. Knowing how reliable they were as multimedia speakers I got these. Couple of things one should be aware of, the connection to the subwoofer is is very flimsy. Does not stay well connected. Also the volume control was difficult to adjust. However after fixing these minor issues all was well then. Audio was pretty good. But I this my old sound sticks sounded better.

I love these speakers. I have had lots of speaker of the years but these by far sound the best for the price.. I have a pair at home and the office. They are very small on your desk but they can be turned up with very clear sound.. Lots of people around me now have these same speakers.. Would buy again and again.. JBL know what they were doing on this design

Sold my Bose Companion 2's for these and couldn't be happier. Absolutely stellar sound. I had to rearrange my office space and I needed speakers that would fit on my desktop with two large widescreen monitors. These fit nicely even with the sub on my desk. I listen to progressive rock music (Porcupine Tree, Spock's Beard, Echolyn, Marillion, Flower Kings) and the Creature IIIs make my music come alive. Are they Vandersteens? No, they're not audiophile-quality units intended for an isolated sound room. But they sound great for what they are and they didn't cost $2000 like Vandersteens [...]. Highly recommended!

I've owned these and the soundsticks II. The sound sticks sound better, but they cost significantly more. I'd buy these again over the sound sticks, unless money is not an issue. The sound sticks have more volume and can be tilted to be directed toward the listener's ear. These cannot.

I work with a live sound system installer that has used professional JBL concert speakers for 20+ years. So I was astounded to hear what passed as acceptable for their "consumer" line. Simply put, the subwoofer puts out deep bass, while the two little speakers put out a mid-treble range... but nothing in between! I thought, "WTF happened to my music?" It's almost as if they just forgot to add a woofer to the mid-range satellite speakers. The music sounds weak and distorted. (These were uncompressed Apple Lossless tracks, btw.) Try something else, please.

This is our second set of the creature speakers as we are so pleased with our first set that we needed another set to eliminate having to move the first ones all the time! The newer speakers are just as good as the first set as far as sound quality and booming base are concerned, but most improved in that they are ever so much lighter. If you want GREAT sound and GREAT booming bass for a great price, these are the speakers for you!

I bought these cool looking speakers as a hassle-free, and cable-mess-free alternative to a home theatre for my flat tv... I gotta say, they're not bad at all when watching action movies or just listening to som music, they're pretty good for their price, obviously you're not gonna get an awesome, over the top product for less than $100 bucks, but these will make your day, really.... Also, they look really cool next to the tv, so modern and chic....

For the first time I was totally suprised to get a piece of junk from JBL, looks cheap and sound aweful, if they made it any cheaper, it would not have work... I returned it after the first day.
