I've had this printer for the past 3 weeks or so, and I am thoroughly impressed. I am an amateur photographer who insists on quality color and black and white photo prints. While, I could have spent a couple of hundred dollars more and have one with a more impressive printer, I am still a student and must live on a budget. I've been printing some of my recent photos with this and I couldn't be happier. They come out crisp and the colors are great! I have printed photos taken from scanned 35mm color slides as well as photos from my digital camera, and they have turned out great (both 4x6 and 8x10 prints). As a student, I also needed a printer that would work for document printing, and, again, I have no complaints. If you need a good all around printing and only do light to medium volumes of printing, this is a great option.

I had a C86 for around a year, and got the blank-page problem that everyone else seems to have. Oddly, though, after turning it off for a couple of days, I turned it on and an apparent miracle had occurred. It started working again. Well that bought me several more months, but a few days ago, it went down for the count. The software told its usual lie about nearly empty ink cartridges. Hoping for another "miracle", I bought a fresh round of ink, and that turned it into a boat anchor: nothing but blank pages, except for the occasional wisp of cyan. Bottom line, this was a really good printer while it lasted, got good reviews back in December '04 when I bought it. I've noticed most of the bad reviews are from 2006. Lesson learned. Don't buy another Epson. My previous printer was a Canon BJC 4550 that lasted over 6 years, and still worked fairly well when I gave it away. I just bought an HP D4160.

Don't waste your money on this piece of junk. The print heads on mine are clogged and I have gone through several sets of ink cartridges while running the "clean heads" cycle over and over as instructed by Epson Technical Support.As other reviewers have noted, this printer is an ink hog. The short time it actually worked it went through the ink cartridges like they were nothing.

I have owned numerous color jet printers though the years. Many of them Epsons which have overall been pretty good. When they had problems the manufacturer fixed quickly.However, this piece of garbage has singlehandedly convinced me to never buy Epson again. I know that manufacturers sell their color ink jets low to make money on the ink sales, thats a given; However with this printer from Epson, the ink cartridges are so small, and so expensive, ($30+ for the black alone) that it will cost you at least $.20 a copy for a B&W printout. All of that based on printing 100 pages before you have to replace the cartridge. I'm not sure I got 100 prints the last time I replaced a cartridge but will give them the benefit of the doubt. The other problem is when the printer needed cleaning, I had to replace all ink cartridges before it would clean. (not all were low but the machine didn't care, it wanted new inks before it would clean the printhead. Another $50 shot to hell)All in all this printer alone now brands Epson as thieves and bandits in my mind for producing and marketing such a blatantly costly printer. (The fact that the original C86 printer I had was defective on purchase and needed warranty replacement, - feeder problems- , didn't help)When I finish the last of the ink from this dog, it is going to find its way to the trash. Don't buy the C86, or any Epson! You'll be much happier. They may look like a value at the store but their ink costs are criminal.

If you want to print directly to CD/DVD's Epson is your only choice as far as mainstream printers. I had the R200 for about a year when it just stopped printing. Epson tech support said I should send it in for repair but it wasn't worth it to me so I found a new R220 for $50. It's pretty much the same as the R200 although it loads the tray much faster. The ink, though rather expensive lasts quite a while if you are only printing disc labels like I do. It does a pretty good job with text when needed. I've never printed a photo so I can't comment on that. I've had the R220 for about 8 months with very few problems.

I bought this as a close out at Radio shack for $49.00 year later works like a charm INK is so cheap for Ebay knock offs its sick..If you buy Epson ink cartridges your pretty much a dope. i guess for Office archive work you might want the Durabright But when you can buy like a dozen Cartridges on ebay for $20.00 man oh man..No other ink is so cheap for knock offs...

normally i research almost everything i buy, however on a whim we decided to buy the epson. what could go wrong? epson is an established name, we have them at work. well just like everyone else, the magic ink fairy that lives inside my printer decided to pack her bags and leave. but not before i droppped 60 bucks on ink refills. this piece of junk printer just decided to stop spraying ink, though paper moves through it fine. no ink flows -black or color. i will *never* buy epson again. i hope you don't either. what crap... just looking at all of the posts about this problem has me wondering if there is cause for a class action suit against epson. run epson run! you have angered us all!

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY WITH THIS PRODUCT. I CANNOT EMPHASIZE ENOUGH HOW DISAPPOINTING THIS PRINTER WAS. IT USED INK CARTRIDGES VERY QUICKLY AND AFTER REPLACING THE FOURTH BLACK CARTRIDGE, THE PRINTER QUIT PRINTING BLACK AT ALL(ONE YEAR OLD). I COULD STILL PRINT VERY FAINTLY WITH SOME COLORS FOR AWHILE. THE COLOR PRINTING QUIT WORKING TWO MONTHS LATER. THIS PRINTER LASTED 14 MONTHS AND I CAN ASSURE YOU AFTER READING MANY SIMILAR REVIEWS ABOUT THE C86 AND C88, THAT WE'LL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER EPSON!

The printer would have been a 5 (for good color prints) , if only the blk & white copier for copying text materials only, is doing its main job.Though the printer is set up on "Text" and not on "Photo" option, hitting the 'Blk & White" button will still copy your TEXT material in the PHOTO type !( wonder if this is an error on epson's part). Copying a Text in Photo type entails more ink usage since even the slightest hue of the template paper is taken or copied. And if you copy from a smaller paper size with a blank background around, it will copy the solid black background per se which certainly DRAIN a 3rd of your black ink ! I have to set up my old simpler black & white copier now, for copying text only.

I got the c86 to replace a c82(?) that bit the dust after 14 months or so. This one lasted longer, and I always replace with "Epson brand inks" but the last 2 times I changed the black ink, I had to do the clean print heads 10 or 15 times to get black, and today, I can't get any black ink to come out at all. I give up, Epson. Canon, here I come.

I bought this unit exclusively to print on CD and DVD discs. Like the other users, I also have issues with the color quality, but even more problematic is the usage of the disc tray. I experience constant error messages that the "CD/DVD tray is not set correctly." There is really only one way to insert the tray, yet that tray must be inserted with a precision akin to putting a strand of hair thru the eye of a needle. The price is good, but the frustrations of having to try half a dozen times to get a disc to print is certainly not worth it. Not recommended.

This printer requires that all four ink tanks are not "empty": cyan, majenta, yellow and black. I put empty in quotes because, as it turns out, even if you do NO color printing, the three color tanks will still eventually report themselves "empty." This happens fairly quickly, by the way, making this an expensive machine to maintain. Also, the unit will not work with generic ink cartridges. There are periodic problems with print head adlignment. The procedure Epson puts you through to try and alleviate this situation does not solve the problem; it only wastes more time, paper and ink. I will not buy or recommend Epson.

I've had this printer for 3 years and it prints pictures beatifully. I use it at home for my personal picture printing only. The color is just as it appears on the computer screen and images are vivid. I have used replacement cartridges and have only had trouble with the black ink. The ink does run out quickly as the cartridges are small but the compatible ones have worked well except for the black. I have not had trouble with paper feeding and use several sheets at a time. One will need to experiment with the settings for different computers but the end results are georgeous. I like my home printed pictures better than ones done by print shops. I've been told that some of my printed pictures look like postcards and I agree.After reading other reviews, I might be a little wary about this product, but it has performed nicely for me.

How the thousands of buyers of the Epson C80 have not risen up as a group to protest the "duping of America" is a tribute to Epson's ability to control the opinions of the buying public. Few products pursue the "screw the public" attitude with such alacrity.Today, my printer went South after it informed me that"certain parts have reached the end of their useful life". I haven't printed 2500 pages in the last 2 years.I wouldn't buy an Epson printer ever again. I would urge all who read this to make their friends aware of the travesty that is the Epson C80, and warn them against dealing with this company.Herbert Zimmerman

I am delighted with this printer! It surpasses my previous Epson in color accuracy and it is great to be able to print CD labels right on the discs. Having to replace individual color ink cartridges seemed like an inconvenience but it does make sense to replace only what is really gone. When I saw how much more rapidly the yellow ran out than other colors I was sold.

I bought the Epson R200 for use with my Powerbook G4. Having said that, it works fine with my Mac, and no further reference will be made to my OS so PC readers may continue aswell.PROS:- The CD/DVD tray works fine, as long as you read the directions and keep the top open. The printing quality on the CD or DVD is great. I've noticed no loss of quality between a CD and a piece of paper.- Front connecting USB outlet makes it easy to connect it to a computer- Ease of operationCONS:- The ink does seem to waste slightly. I've notice a little pool of ink soaked up by some white pad in my printer, which makes me a little woosy, seeing as ink's 20 bucks a pop or more or something, and this is after printing one CD.- I had to manually line up or adjust the center of printing so the disc would be printed on center. This took me quite a while, and if anyone else is wondering, I'd adjust it only by .1, .2, .3 mm and so on, NOT a full mm.- (comment on inkjet cd printers, not soley the R200) The printed disc must dry for 24 hours, but even then, dense black ink is easily smeared by a rub of the thumb. The discs can also, obviously, not get wet, like Gremlins, otherwise the ink runs. Expensive lamination devises are made, but I've found none for cheap, which kind of defeats the purpose.- The text seems blurry. This is common w/ inkjet printers, and was also the first thing I printed so it could also be a one-time thing. Also this problem is minor. If you're that worried about sharp text, buy a laserprinter.OVERALL: This printer prints great on CD's and DVD's and the software packaged with it (Epson CD Print) is pretty good, only limited by not allowing you to rotate text. However, GraphicsConverter, available online for free trial, offers great manipulation and editing of images and text rotation. The Epson CD Print works great for me otherwise, and I am very harsh on this kind of stuff. I like freedom and the ability to design very technical images and prints. It's nothing expensive and professional, but it's not at all a bad or limited package for home use, and I've created labels that look just as good as real screenprinted CD's and DVD's... Also, the printer comes with a photo editing program which is decent, although I still use graphics converter for most things.This printer is definately for those who want to print brilliant photo-images on discs, as well as text on paper. Ink smudging is to be expected slightly. And the only thing to rival inkjet CD printing would be thermal printing which is expensive, difficult, and far away in detail, or HP's new LightScribe technology which is currently monochrome, so don't expect any colorful images. I recomend this printer. Good quality, cheap price, easy to use for those who read directions, and good software packaged. I recomend a cheap warrenty too.

It printed well for (believe it or not) a year and a week. Demanded more ink, which I dutifully bought at usurious prices . . . and never printed again.I couldn't believe how much ink the thing used. Colour-printed pages would actually come out wet from the amount of ink on the paper.Epson have kitted their printers out with technology that detects when you're not using Epson ink or Epson cartridges, and I already knew that, so bought the right cartridges at sky-high prices, but to no avail.A friend also owns a much more expensive Epson printer (but in the same series). His also failed . . . after a year and a day. He could never find out what was wrong. Something to do with ink.The Epson driver-disk is very cleverly designed to make you believe you must install their software to use the driver. You don't, but I defy the average user to find out how to avoid this. The software is invasive and useless. The bloody icon is winking at me from the bottom right of my screen as I write.Epson make fine printers that are obviously designed to fail within weeks of going out of warranty. I will never buy Epson again.

This epson RX620 printer is great. the quality of the pics are unbelievable. This is my first Amazon purchase and I am very pleased with the results. Ordering and tracking were so easy. I am not a computer gu ru by far, however, you have made ordering easy even for myself. Thanks!

I purchased the Epson Stylus Photo RX620 in July 2006. After running less than 200 copies the machine had ink all over the inside and on the paper feeder.Epson replaced this unit with a new unit. Trying to run 20 copies this unit also sprayed ink all over the inside of the unit and paper in the feeder.Epson replaced this unit with a "refurbished" unit which when unpacked had loose parts from the paper feeder. Unit was shipped without locking the scanner or installing the paper feeder properly.I purchased a new unit and two months later a had a used "refurbished" unit that would not feed paper.Not happy one bit with Epson Customer Service -- Jack

This printer is teriffic for labeling CD/DVD and has made my LightScribe obsolete because of its ability to print in color. I am able to print as many pictures as I like or am able to put on the disc and then title it in any color I desire. It is sometimes cranky about pulling the tray in to complete the printing cycle but with a slight assist it will usually draw the tray into the machine. I have had to replace my tray once because it just got old and tired on the end that lays on the rollers that pull it into the machine but replacement trays are cheap. I think I paid about five dollars for the one I purchased at the authorized dealer/repair place. I love what this machine can do and would highly recommend it to anyone who needs to print a lot of labels.

I own EPSON Stylus Photo RX620 All in one printer for 3 months now, and here is my opinion. For those interested to know, I am technology literate, research a lot before buying, and try to buy what's best. Not all of my purchase met my expectations, and this printer is one of these unfortunate buys.Positive qualities: nice picture quality and options to use memory sticks, additional USB slot, cartridges are not extremely expensive as some may think.Negative qualities: not fit to scan slides (like what my parents used to get) or negatives. Basically, when scanning about 1/2 inch of the picture gets cut off. It also wastes color ink even when printing/scanning in black only, reduces image to less than 100% of original when using copy option, and sometimes fails to grab/feed the paper properly.Beware of ink usage on EPSON printers. Due to this site's review policies I cannot disclose the reason I do not recommend this printer or the review will be deleted, but put it mildly - the printer refuses printing/copying even when the cartridge still has ink in it, so you have to put a new cartridge. This ink situation involves a legal dispute, so research before buying and you will know what I mean.Some people are happy with this printer and I agree that the printer produces an outstanding photo quality. But I also think it is not worth wasting money on new cartridges, when there are printers than can print in black only when asked to and which also use all of the ink in existing cartridge before asking for a new cartridge.

I had two R300's and now this R340. All of them are great photo printers but none would print more than 2 or 3 cd's before crapping out. The feed tray will not align or the machine can't tell it is aligned and you get an endless error message that the cd tray is not loaded properly.While I am at it I want to vent about the way Epson support deals with this problem. They keep you on the phone for 45 minutes going trough very basic driver checks and reloading the printer software and then tell you you have to go to the next level of support to waste more time. They know this tray thing is mechanical but they won't address the issue headon, hoping you will go away. They should put this problem in the tech's script and not waste everyone's time with meaningless software run-arounds.Bob KerryTucson

Avoid this printer. After a year, mine stopped printing Cyan altogether. It also hates generic cartridges; they're practically guaranteed not to work. The individual color cartridges are a nice idea, but they are quite small and don't last long.You get what you pay for with printers. This one is cheap, and it perfoms accordingly.

I'm an intermediate-level photographer and professional designer, so I needed a printer that would produce gorgeous photos, in addition to performing as a copier/scanner. The RX620 is a great value for the money, and its a fabulous photo printer to boot! I compared the prints directly to an Epson R800, and to the naked eye, the results from both printers is identical (though the R800 does offer "archival" prints and it produces smaller ink droplets, it costs a lot more).The RX620 also has a built-in card reader, which you can use to print photos directly off of your digital camera's memory card. I would personally never use this feature, since I always do some sort of touch-up or post-processing to my photos on the computer. However, the card slots function as a card reader for your computer too... any card you insert into the printer shows up on my Mac's desktop. So essentially, not only does the RX620 take the place of a separate printer and scanner, it also takes the place of a memory card reader. Nice.The built-in color LCD screen is bright and allows you to check ink level on the device without resorting to a utility on the computer. That's convenient. However, I wish the LCD screen would show how far along on a print job it is. Instead, you just get a "processing" screen with no information on the job status. Still, this is a minor quibble.For most beginner through intermediate users, the RX620 will more than meet your needs. If you're looking for a multifunction device, you can't go wrong with the Epson RX620.
