My old g router got taken out by a power surge. Thought I'd try this one as at the time it had all positive reviews. Initial experience was good - install was easy and I get better signal strength and typically higher connection speed.For the average user, this router might be fine, but I run a home automation system 24/7, and have now been experiencing the following:- random dropping of both wireless and wired connections- random lost of wireless speed, down to 5.5Mbps or even 1Mbps, while signal strength is still good- dropping of wired connection when trying to stream 1080 video or copy large files (oddly connection dropped not involved in the streaming or copy)I didn't have any of these on my prior router, so can only conclude it's this router that is causing them.Another thing - the firmware update does not find the latest firmware. It said I had the latest (1.12), but tech support provided 1.13, and it's not like this was brand new version - it had been released 6 months prior. There was no improvement with this later firmware.Over all I am disappointed and feel let down - wish I had gotten a different one.

I was taken in by the misleading claims that mydlink somehow allows you to access data on your network. In fact about all you can access are specific DLink enabled products (cameras, some hard drives) and the router itself. Even the access to the router is incredibly limited, amounting to not much more that seeing who's connected and what web pages they have visited. Ok, you can block unwanted access also as long you happen to be watching when it happens or see the automatic email that gets sent. None of these things are features I care about. Don't forget, if you set your Wifi login to a sensible password, no-one's going to get in anyway!If you want a cheap 2.4 gHz WAP with 4 ports, fine (that's why I bought this product). But don't be taken in by all the big claims by this supposed "Cloud Router" (whatever that means??) or you are in for a disappointment. Read the fine print. It really doesn't do very much.Oh, lest I forget, this router resisted setting up -- it didn't automatically detect that my modem had DHCP, I had to manually set that. Plus I found that if I didn't power things up in EXACTLY the order specified on the big fold-out chart, it didn't see my modem at all.Isn't Dlink supposed to know what they're doing by now? Could'a fooled me.

I purchased this to replace an older cisco/Linksys router that was failing. After trying 2 lower end models, this and a low-end Cisco E900 refurb, I definitely learned that I have outgrown these entry level models. While wired performance was decent, as soon as I tried to connect wirelessly via WPA2 Personal, I started seeing a major performance hit. I have 2 iPhones, an iPad, 3 laptops, an xbox, wifi dvd player, and directv wireless connecting, and must have been pushing it beyond it's limits.While this device might be good for people with 1-2 wireless devices, it clearly didn't scale well for my needs. I sent it back and ordered an ASUS RT-N56U, which is working like a charm so far.

It worked well for couple of months, when I rearranged some wires the device switched off and that's it the switch in the back would stay on unless I keep holding it. The seller did not have an option for exchange they only allowed return. When I returned I am being charged $12 for restocking. Is this for real you are going to restock a defective product? Come on Amazon I have been customer for a long time haven't see this type of customer service. I did mention defective product when I chose to return, now which lucky one is going to get this device.

The set up instructions are pretty clear. I had it up and running in about 15 minutes including setting up a MyDlink account and security. The signal is very strong. Hokked multiple devices to it in minutes. The router is in my basement and when I run a speed test on the computer hooked directly to my DSL modem, it is the same speed as my laptop on wireless two floors away. It's pretty small, the antennas swivel, so you can stand it up and it's thinner than a VHS tape. I've only had it a day, so this is only an initial review, but so far so good.

My mother got an I pad and needed wireless so I selected and installed the DIR-605L for her. While I can say that many other times the installation of routers and modems has gone awry this time it all went as smooth as clock work except for one very minor hitch. From a performance point of view this router seems to put out a strong signal and the performance of her device was very impressive. The only problem I encountered was setting up a D-Link account her making note of the new router as her last product was a D-Link wired router and there seemed no way to easily update the hardware info on the account page? Please note that the account set up had nothing to do with actually getting the device to work but it's still a good idea to have an account with D-Link to register your purchase. When we used her email address it said we already had an account but there was no way to retrieve the forgotten password for the old account. Anyway, I spend more time trying to sort out the account update than I did actually setting up the router. The bottom line is I would certainly purchase the DIR-605L again.

Since my old Netgear N wireless (not very old actually) quit working and calling the out-of-this-country customer service was less than pleasant - they (laughingly) wanted me to purchase a one hundred dollar (life-time) warranty since my product was out-of-warranty and for them to "fix" my Netgear I needed warranty... endless loop of laughable frustration. Hitting my head on a brick wall would have been more help. So, I threw the Netgear away (a wasteful shame) and went to Amazon to find a replacement. This D-Link was a great price and arrived very fast - easy to set up, no problems at all. The range is much broader also, so I am happy with this D-Link router!

I have used three wi-fi routers before - two Linksys and one D-Link. They all served me well. I brought this one because we moved recently and left our old router back. The router started acting up on the day it arrived. The tech support took more than 1.5 hours to get this running doing the usual jigs of updating firmware and resetting a couple of times, but I thought all's well that ends well. It worked fine for three days and then the signal started dropping. And on fifth day it just stopped broadcasting. It would even not work when hard-wired, although all blinking lights indicated that it should be working fine. The customer support agent I spoke to kept on trying the same old tricks ... reset the router, copy MAC address ... nothing that had not been done before - and was very unfriendly and rude. After struggling for 90 minutes, he announced that it is defective and I should return it. To sum up, it was a horrible experience and I would not recommend D-Link to anyone.

Was using the old Linksys 320n Router, until it died on me after a couple years.I then replaced it with the Cisco E1200... But reception or range dropped with the new Cisco router.I was advised to get a router with multiple external antennas, to improve range / reception.Bought the Dlink 605L, thinking the range would improve with the large dual antennas.Unfortunately, the Wifi reception did not improve over the Cisco e1200 and am disappointed with the Dlink 605L reception.The big antennas on the Dlink 605L don't offer any significant range improvement over the Cisco e1200 with NO external antennas ! Huh ?!?I found a used Linksys 320N on eBay and Im now back to 100% connection throughout my home and with good reception everywhere.I have since dumped both my new Dlink 605L and my new Cisco e1200 :(

When I first received this router and started to install it was not easy, as they stated. Router is working ok now but had trouble installing, 1st on desktop and more trouble installing on laptop. Configuratiion to set it up, for me, was not clear and I kept trying and finally was able to configure laptop to work. Still unable to get laptop to print through this router. HP printer is Deskjet F4140 and connected by USB through my home network. So far unable to see any Cloud use with this router. I would rate the router Good, but some features are not working properly. Maybe it is because it requires extra configuration that I have not been able to do yet. I would probably rate this router at 3 1/2 since it is working.

I tried streaming a Denon 3313CL AVR through this router through ethernet cable. It was unable to assign the Denon an ip address. My other devices linked easily, wired and wireless, but when I connected the Denon, everything went south. Port forwarding didn't seem to work. If you are an IT genius and really know how to tweak all this, go for it. Otherwise, I think there are better products that support Upnp seemlessly. Tech support is always overseas and often difficult to understand. The wait is always long. Very frustrating. I'm getting a new different router. We are all so addicted to our internet.

This replaced my Cisco wireless n that got zapped by lightening. I am not a tech guy by any means, but the cisco was my first wifi router and I had it up and going in maybe 5 min. This d-link, well, spent an hour trying the step by step in instructions provided. No luck. Called their tech support and spent an hour on the phone before I could get properly configured and connected, but....the network name I entered would not show up...just "d-link". Also tried everything tech support offered for security enabling but pretty much anything in my house will connect without asking for the encryption code. Unplugged the power for about 10 seconds 2 days ago, and now the network shows a rtl8186- default name. Looks like I am in for another "fun" hour-long episode with their tech support. Best thing I can say about this router right now is I get a better signal through the house than the cisco I had.

Bought this router to replace my three-year-old Belkin WiFi-N router that was giving me some issues.The setup process was very easy, however, for some reason the router wasn't able to connect to the Dynamic IP Address/connect to the modem provided by my ISP.After a couple of factory resets and a soft reset of my modem, things were up and running!I added Google's DNS service as well as changed the channel of my router to prevent interference.Additionally, I am using my old Belkin router as a WiFi Access Point in order to further my connection throughout my home!Things work brilliantly and I am finally able to stream HD YouTube videos from the comfort of my desktop and room.The product itself was not too costly at all and the added Android app is a plus. As far as the app goes, I don't think that it's too useful for me practically. But I can see the appeal to some.

The instructions were pretty much pointless.I spent an hour reading how to get this thing to work when I've done similar projects a million times. It took a call to D-link and another hour to get the info that you need to change the addy from 168.192.0.1 to 192.168.5.1Two hours for one digit!It seems to send signal fine but all of my machines take far too long to connect to the network. even though it is in the memory of all and the only one within range.I didn't use (or care for) the cloud option just the speed, which seems to be decent once it gets connected.

I purchased a D-Link router from amazon for the purpose of connecting it to my Agasio camera. The camera was working fine at home. I took the camera to my cabin and connected to my D-Link router. It would not recognize the camera. I called technical support. They said I had to change the address of the camera, but I could not get to the camera to change the address. I had to drive 60 miles to home. I called technical support and they told me what to do. The result was I could not address the camera. I had to hire an export to fix the problems they caused. I will not by another D-Link router.

Bought this with my Motorola cable modem and it seems to work great! Strong signal in my apartment everywhere, PS3 and laptop connected right away without any hiccups. it can be a pain to get it to work if the power goes out and is restored. Im not sure if its this router or my modem thats being a pain but it will eventually start working if i cycle power on the modem and the router in the right order. Once its working it works great.

Great device! I had an airport extreme and could not get it to extend my network for my pc at the other end of my home. I don't know much about the network settings but the apple setup ask a couple of questions and extended the network. Yeah, it didn't work so well. The pc keep getting on and off the network. Even my Xbox would jump on and off the network. To make this long story short I chucked the airport extreme after installing this beauty! It took me through the setup and ALL my PC/Microsoft based equipment works like a charm.

I got this for my father and found the setup to be a little more difficult than the Linksys and Netgear routers I typically use. After cancelling the setup "Wizard" after three unsuccessful attempts and manually setting things up, I finally got it working. People unfamiliar with how to manually setup a router should avoid this product. I gave it four stars instead of three because it has worked flawlessly for the past month.

I like this product but found the admin pages to be clunky. I was able to do almost all that I wanted, so I guess it's just that the admin software is different than others. The main issue that I have with the admin pages is that the MAC filtering applies to all connections rather than just wireless connections. I could see that a business or public situation may need to block wired connections by MAX address but why would a home user want to block a wired connection?

I'm a technical guy and so I like to get a lot out of my routers. Normally I'd buy a cheap router that is DD-WRT compatible, but this time I purchased this D-Link because I needed it fast (and it was cheap).First, the good: it's a typical inexpensive 802.11n router. It seems to work OK in the 5 day's I've owned it.Now the bad. I seemed to freak it out by creating a password with funny characters like backslashes and the like, forcing me to reset it as I locked myself out. Also, it seems to go off-air after being up for a few days - it looks like the WIFI interface isn't the most stable.I assume that its failings are all software related - but sadly, there are no firmware patches are available yet.UPDATE: There seems to be a firmware upgrade for this now which addresses the password issue, and since it hasn't crashed in a long while, I will bump it up one star.

You had better know something about the internet and computers.This company makes it sound so easy to set up but the software is contractory.I installed it for the use of my tablet, the first time I used it, I needed a passwordwhich didn't work, so I had to go back in to set up a new one. It worked twice thenquit again, I hope the s*** heads get their s*** together

My home wireless router was broken. So I bouhgt Belkin router at first but this router didn't work well. My I pod and other device couldn't access wireless and sometimes even main computer loses access. I decided to find another router. Finnaly I chose D Link router. It was right decision there is no trouble after using this router. Any device I have can connect internet.Price is very reasonable.

I live in an apartment that is bogged down with other wireless routers. Using my wireless on devices that do not require a constant connection is OK (checking email, viewing web pages, etc...). Many people do not realize that most wireless signals drop out (at least for a fraction of a second). But, if you would like to stream movies over the internet to a television in another room, that is another story (especially if your television does not have sufficient memory to buffer). I purchased first the PowerLine router and added the PowerLine extender to do two things. First, to connect to my television by using the Ethernet port located on the extender. Second, was to extend my wireless range to my other devices. So far so good, I can use my television without interference and I have better range on my wireless signal. The only thing that I wish that this had was gigabit routing. It is rated at 10/100 which is older technology and only has three ports besides the internet connection. But, my internet speeds is only 20Mbs down, so it can work above what my internet speed can put out. If I was sending information between two computers on the same router it would be slower, but for what I am using it for it works great.P.S. There is a little confusion using the extender and router combination. You only need one extender while using the router. You do need two extenders if you do not have the PowerLine router. This system is a little pricy, but worth it in my case.Also, the support is great. I had to call them twice with a question and I was connected right away to a real person. Many people that have another well-known brand router say that their customer service is terrible (just read reviews about the other router companies).

I bought two of thes eto replace out G routers and my daughters and a friends house. One wouldn't connect to the internet and the other wouldn't even connect the router to the computer. I called tech support for the one that didn't connect to the computer and they insisted that the problem was with the internet connection, although when connected directly to the computer the internet connection was fine. Couldn't even get to the interface to check the settings.After going through the script the tech didn't seem to know where to go next.I returned them both and bought 2 Linksys E900 models. They work like a dream.I have previously bought 2 D-Link routers for myself, and although I finally got them working it was a struggle and tech support was useless. I should have learned my leason before, I sure have now.

I was reading all the reviews before post mine and that was come to my mind. I go this in 2007 and works flawlessly until 2010. like 3 or 4 DC's/reboots issues per year. yup, you read well, PER YEAR. and has really strong use. he has, via Ethernet a Lacie minidisk NAS, an HP695 printer with a dlink printserver, a win98/linux really old pc just for navigate on internet, and my PC with a really long cable (70 metres, IDK how many feet are that). via WIFI has 2 laptops. all of these always working and of course the occasional visits that I give them access via wifi to navigate on internet. and everything was flawless. so reading these reviews I think too "maybe Fisher Price must start to fabric wifi routers for these people?" XDI have this mania that when I buy an electronic gadget I normally don't open the diver disk. I just go to the website and download the driver which must be the last one, and then I get the latest firmwares. and of course I do the same with it. I even don't open the box when I was downloading the firmware. I assume that was my lucky shot. and I call mania because that not ends there. I check once a week for new drivers/firmwares and I'm constantly upgrading everything that I have.I got this because the DI-524 don't convince me. the range was really short and even a hollow wooden door makes me DC so I though was lack of potency. I got this and everything works perfect. then I got divorced and more than a half of the described gear was gone and of course I don't need the router anymore (I just have a laptop directly connected to the modem via Ethernet) so, I sold it and is being used in a house with one pc, one laptop and lots of WIFI cel phones, and I have not the single first complain yet.so, or it was a firmware matter or I am the luckiest man alive (after my divorce I could refuse that theory), or specifically my copy of the DI-624 was blessed by the god's. choose yourself.

I bought this to replace an old Netgear router, but it worked much worse than the old Netgear. Wouldn't connect to my laptop at all until I updated the laptop wireless card driver. As for my desktop computer, it would only connect occasionally. And both computers worked just fine with the old Netgear. Got rid of the Dlink and replaced it with a no-name brand router, and the no-name brand one worked with no problems at all and was also much faster than the old Dlink when it did work (no-name connected at 150 Mbps, while the Dlink only connected at 75 Mbps). The settings used for all 3 routers were exactly the same; WPA2 security.

In all fairness I need to say that the way my house is laid out no matter which router I bought (I tried 3) the signal was weak in my living room due to interference from my kitchen. This router probably would have worked fine if I would have moved my phone, Vonage router, modem and the wireless router to a different room (which I ended up doing after buying the 3rd router which had the same problem). Even a range extender wouldn't work or help. So this router would have worked fine and it was a lot cheaper then the one I have now but, it is a lot less range and speed.

I get great reception out in my living room and in my bedroom, which are both in opposite corners of the house from the office where the router is situated.Installation wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. I had to talk to the company and my internet provider before I could get it hooked up. But, once up and running I've had no problems.

For the price this is one of the best N routers you can buy. Very easy setup. When buying this item my main concern was if I would be able to disable the cloud software as I did not need it or like the idea of it. The good news is not only can you disable it but its not enabled by default so I was very please with this. I would suggest anyone needing a good value router consider this one.

Good connection when the connection worked, but this router crashed constantly and was hard to reboot at times. Maybe I set it up wrong...oh about that it was very difficult to setup. I even called D-Link customer service for assistance and then it wouldn't even work properly still.

There was a coupon for the router so I jumped and bought it to replace my aging Netgear router. When I installed it though it caused all kinds of problems - local network and Internet connections were intermittent and kept dropping. After taking this router offline and replacing it with the aging Netgear everything went back to normal. No other choice but return it. Very disappointing.

When I first got this router, it seemed that my laptop and desktop would freeze after the first few minutes for a minute or so. I thought it was the router and was going to return it. Fortunately I talked to a techie about something else and happened to mention this. He assured me that this was NOT the fault of the router, so I changed my mind about returning it. The freeze only happens once just after I turn computer on - still not sure what causes it, but isn't that much of a problem. I am impressed by the long range of this router. I am up one floor and on the opposite side of the house, a long rambler, and get very good signal, only 2 bars but fast and reliable.

i had an old router for about 7 years but had to "update" since the old one was making a very annoying noise and was disturbing my sleep..the range is not that goog compared to the old netgear..am getting same speed as the old one. Reason for buting this is because of ability to access to see who is connected to the router from anywhere..

The router shipped super fast and I had it up and running in just a few minutes. I am not computer savvy so this was no small feat. Since then, I have enjoyed a flawless connection so I can now watch neflix on the coach instead of at the desk. I would order this same product again should the need arise.Update: I have been using the mydlink for a few months now and this work horse has yet to drop a connection. It's by far the best router I have ever owned, and I've owned quite a few. I wouldn't think twice about buying this model again. I get a consistent 14-20 MBPS throughout my apartment everyday. I might buy another incase they stop making them.

I didn't give it 5 stars because the instructions were not very clear, and it took about 1/2 hour of trial and error to setup a secure powerline network. The unsecured powerline network worked right out of the box.But unlike other powerline products I have had, once set up, I have not had to reboot either of the two units in a month.

I use this router both wired (gaming) and wireless (laptops, tablets). The router has worked flawlessly since being installed and I have never once had the connection drop. Connected devices are usually in the same room, so I don't have much experience with testing the reliability with a longer range. Overall, for the price it is a cost-effective solution.

This was a great choice. It has excellent range and was very easy to configure in either manual or automatic setup options. Signal strength is very good within my 1000 sq. ft. apartment and no signs of server channel interference with the other 20 or so networks near by. Tried to use the mycloud option to see what kind of information is available, but it doesn't seem to really introduce that much more functionality other than being able to see your network remotely. The pricing of this item is just right. Overall if your in need of a new router with n-band capabilities and significant range, this might be the product for you

Worked good cheap price and easy set up, have Charter high speed internet and used this for wireless. With the 4 kids on it at the same time it really started to crawl it just couldnt keep up. I sent it back got a more expensive unit which handles the traffic no problem, so the slow speed was not my internet.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the seller, or the product. I was unable to get this router to work. I don't think it was defective, I think the problem was with my inability to install it.

Got this Gem for my Roku player. My wife took our home router with her for her easy installation, so I purchased this for myself. Step by step instruction to install on home computer, password is automatically generated or you can pick your own. This bad boy is a dream for the price!

I needed a faster router to take advantage of my higher internet speed and this one really has a throughput of around 85Mbps. given I get below 50, this one does the job. The extra cloud features allows me to see and also "listen" to my matching cameras. Nice.

I have just installed this router and could not be happier with the results. It was extremely easy to install with very clear instructions and it delivers a flawless wi-fi connection from the main computer in an upstairs office to a laptop in the basement. Every application so far from basic web-surfing to streaming video from Netflix has been perfect, fast, and error-free. I don't see how any router anywhere can be any better than this for a simple wireless internet connection. I recommend it completely and will most certainly buy this again should I ever need a another wireless router. Superb results.

While the product will work wired, which there is no reason it SHOULDN'T, the wireless signal is piss poor. From where it is currently sitting to my room, which is maybe 30 feet and 2 walls away, the signal is a shaky 30-50%. Sitting RIGHT ON TOP of the router, and I mean the router in my lap with the laptop in 1 hand, and a wireless device in the other, the signals are unstable. From 70-90%. I've tested both alone and both together.Using this for anything that requires a steady signal is laughable. On the plus side, I guess, the signal for just web browsing or chatting works fine. So long as you're stupid close to the router.

This router is pretty good. It's very simple to install and doesn't take up too much space. The signal that's produced is pretty linear but I guess it works for me. I'd recommend it.
