I got two of these to bridge some wired devices to a D-Link DIR-655 Extreme N Gigabit Wireless Router. Setup for me was very simple, and the wireless bridge works great with WPA2/AES encryption.I subtracted one star because the thing has one orange LED that blinks to indicate the wireless bridge is on - as in, a steady on/off just when the link is there, regardless of whether any traffic is actually going over the bridge. Really, it has to be blinking all the time? It's just a little annoying in my bedroom and near the TV. I would prefer that it stay solid to indicate the bridge is up, and blink only if there's a problem, if at all. Not a big deal - it does its job.

I needed to bridge my wifi to a room in the house to provide ethernet connectivity there for a laptop, and two separate IP phones. I was concerned since the DAP-1522 is marketed towards connecting up an entertainment center. I figured IP is IP so it should work. I flipped the switch to bridge-mode, plugged in the devices, and set up the WIFI part to connect to my home WIFI router. It worked the first time. That is a FIRST! Make sure MAC cloning is enabled (I think it defaulted that way).On the downside: signal reception was not as strong as expected. Seems like an external antenna would be a good design improvement. I had to put it out in the clear to get 75%, and that's just 3 walls (drywall) the signal had to go through. The laptop receives better.I definitely would recommend for bridging ethernet LAN across WIFI.

Works fine. Got it a few months ago. I got it set up and left it alone. Works fine for me.The only complaint is that it's got this stupid light that flashes on and off at the rate of 1/2 seconds to indicate that the Access Point is on. The flashing is completely pointless and annoying. So I took a pair of snips and removed it.Otherwise the activity light is very useful. It flickers with data transfer so that you can guess whats going on by the light show.It's in Access Point mode. I'm getting 55Mbits/sec downloads.I never used the easy connect button feature so I can't comment on that.I got it manually configured with WPA2 only mode. And n mode only.I like the low voltage.The parts inside remain cool to the touch. Yes, inside, I took it out of its case.I'm afraid to know why other people are having trouble with their network piece.I understand it can be confusing to configure all the features. I have no trouble at all. 15mins.

I bought 2 of these with one goal in mind: Create a high speed wireless link between my entertainment center (HTPC, Xbox 360, PS3, Roku) and my computer center (where my internet will be located and my file server) in my new apartment. As a test I connected one to my existing network and set it up as an AP. The other I took to the other side of the basement. That's about 30 feet through a solid concrete wall, a utility room, and a regular drywall/wooden stud wall...way more in between than I will have once I set this up in my new apartment (it will be near line of sight). They worked flawlessly to stream high quality video (note: not quite HD) to my netbook from my file server. The signal strength is clearly less than that of my WRT54GL...which runs my G network. Both were located in roughly the same position. The signal strength of this unit was 50 according to the site survey, while my WRT54GL was 68. Clearly the lack of an external antenna does affect range...but for my purposes it should be good enough. If you want to make a high speed link that is line of sight or near line of sight and no more than say 50 feet...I would recommend this unit. If you need to go through walls I'd say go for one of the routers with the external antennas. I really wish the media bridge version of this were still available, as I probably would have picked one of those up considering it has an external antenna. I think this will work fine though. Note: I didn't rate performance because I have not truly tested these out with HD video yet. I may update my review once I get moved and get these in their final places.

I am using this as a bridge for connecting my TV, Blu-Ray, and Dish Network 722 receiver to my wireless N network.The setup was easy, but I have a high level of networking experience.Once configured everything worked great as soon as I plugged in my devices. So far I have used it for Netflix streaming and updating the firmware on my Blu-Ray.Performance has been excellent, and I would definitely buy this product again.

I purchased two of the Dlink DAP-1522 to bridge two entertainment centers to my duo band network. First of all, you will face some difficulties accessing the configuration screens if you have a network that is not using 192.168.0.x ip. (192.168.0.50 and http://dlinkap don't work.) This is normally not a big deal if you don't need to access the configuration screen all the time. What about WPS? The DAP-1522 WPS is also extremely unreliable. It failed to connect most of the time. The bridge drops off once a week or so. The poor reliability and difficulty to configuration combo turn out to be a deadly waste of time. Those of you who are willing and able would be better off spending less money to get a basic router and replace the firmware with DD-WRT or Tomato. I did just that and couldn't be happier. Wish I can return the expensive bridge.

Followed the instructions, set it up, installed it, now have wireless at home. In addition was able to plug another cable into the back and have other computers on the network.

I wanted to something seemingly very simple.I wanted to network my PS3 over 802.11n (with my DIR-655) for better network speeds to stream movies wirelessly. The first DAP-1522 I received RATTLED out of the box and was quickly returned and replaced (thank you Amazon). The replacement one I received I was unable to get to work after scouring the documentation and forums and eventually met its end in a very satisfying (for me) pile of bits. The documentation is horrid. The quality is horrid 1st unit was broken out of box, the 2nd was completely non-functioning. This is the first online review I've written as I wouldn't take the time to do this unless I have been truly pissed off. This is the last Dlink product I ever purchase as even my DIR-655 router, the best Dlink product I have had in a long line of marginal products, has been a borderline POS from time to time.

Device never worked, and support has been unable to help with this. They simply try to get me off the phone, suggesting I bring my laptop to a Starbucks or McDonalds to make sure its wireless is still working. No promised call from a technical specialist either.

I bought this item a few months ago to add network capability to my media center area (media center pc and my xbox360). It worked great. Installation was a snap as well.I loved it so much, I decided to buy another one to network a second XBOX360 in the bedroom so that I can take advantage of the media extender capabilities in the bedroom. Everything worked well for about a week.Unfortunately, the first one has already died on me. It still works, but I am lucky to get a MB or two transfer through it in a minute. Even from just a room away, my ping response times are around 400ms. I don't live in a concrete bunker. So if that isn't broken, I don't know what is. Oh and yes, I have tried many firmware versions.Normally, I would consider this as just bad luck. However I've seen many other posts on other sites that have mentioned the same thing. Perhaps it is just bad luck because typically you hear complaints more than praises right? Regardless, do the research. It is a good product. I am a little concerned about quality over the long haul though.I am now in the lengthy process of trying to get my original one returned. Which means going through some tech support guy in another country that doesn't realize or care that I have 10 plus years in network administation and that I know what I am talking about.

Well I was looking to connect my new BD Player (Sony BDP-N460) and Dish DuoDVR VIP722 SAT receiver to the internet unfortunately I didn't have a LAN drop in my living room since my house was built 10 years ago. Sony recommended the Linksys WET-610N for the bridge but this have only one port and I dislike Linksys products due to bad experiences using their products (routers). Luckily I read one of the Sony BD player reviewers he bought the D-Link DAP1522 and it work extremely well....that is exactly what I was looking for. The D-Link has 4 ethernet ports so I can connect both my DVR and BD player as well as extra ethernet ports available for any other future network capable devices that I may acquire. The set up enable me to access my DVR and perform remote recording access function through the internet anywhere. I'm not a tech geek but this D-Link bridge was so easy to set up it took me less than 10 minutes to get this up and running as well as connectivity with my DVR and BD player right away, the product manual was straight and simple to understand the direction Not only that I have a Netgear WNR-3500 gigabit N router and the first time set up between the D-link and Netgear was smooth and worked extremely well between the two devices. HD streaming to my BD player was handled with no buffering or pausing issues. I highly recommend this product if you are looking to connect devices wirelessly to your router for internet connectivity!!!

Installation was a snap with my D-Link Gamers Lounge Router. Just pressed the button on the side of my router and the bridge was ready to go. Tested with my Sony Blue ray player that has internet apps. Played some HD videos from the web without a hitch. I highly recommend this Bridge!

I purchased to pair with the DIR-655 router and a DSM-750 media extender, both from Dlink. Depending on how you feel, this product could be anywhere from a 1 - 5 star item. The thing works great, which is the most important aspect to me. However, I would say that the range is less than excellent, thus a half star off for that. Another half star off because the reset button is pretty much useless. I'm taking the other star off for it being a massive pain in the butt to get it working - in bridge mode.AP mode is easy to set up. All you have to do is set the switch to AP on the back and connect it to your router with an Ethernet cable. You should then be able to access the configuration page by typing in 192.168.0.50 in your web browser. You can then set up the wireless broadcast as you see fit (enter in an SSID in the box (different from your router for a separate broadcast) - use a static IP address, set up the IP address of your router as the gateway address, etc). You can also update the firmware.Bridge mode is a completely different matter. Theoretically, you should be able to press the WPS button on your router and then press the button on your bridge and it will connect automatically (probably still helps to connect via Ethernet cable first so you can access the config page). Maybe that worked for some people, but it did not work for me. I tried push button connect, tried connecting using pin numbers, tried manually setting everything up, but nothing worked. I was tempted to think I had a defective unit, but it worked fine in AP mode, so I was sure the thing was functioning properly.Here is how I configured it to make it finally work in bridge mode. First, I reset this and my router to factory defaults. I set the switch on the back to bridge mode. I connected the bridge to the router via Ethernet cable. I turned on the router and then the bridge. I set up the router as before - broadcast in 802.11n only mode, 40MHZ and WPA2 (AES encryption), which enabled me to achieve 300 mbps network speed. I then went to the config page for the bridge. On the wireless set-up, I manually set it up to match the router. I selected the static IP. I left the SSID box blank and used the site survey to select the wireless connection from my router. I then de-selected the clone MAC box. As if by magic, the stupid thing finally connected wirelessly, and i have been pleased with its performance since. I was even able to unplug it and set it up in another location, and it was still able to connect.

We purchased a Sony W series TV so we could stream Netfix. Sony recommended the Linksys Bridge with only one ethernet port. The Sony TV also add the Linksys software already installed on the TV which is a bonus. So I purchased the D-Link Wireless 4 port bridge instead. I purchased the D-Link with 4 port so I could connect it to multiple ethernet enabled devices. I was initially frustrated with the set up for the D-Link. I had to change my IP address on my computer in order to set up the D-Link. After my first initial try to set it up, it did not work. After talking to an IT professional, I figured out that my SSID for my network had a capital letter, but when I set my D-Link I used a lowercase letter. Once I reset up my D-Link with the SSID with capital letter it worked. I can now stream Netfix and youtube right from my Sony TV. I also can stream pandora radio from my A/V receiver and update the firmware on my cablebox because I have the extra ethernet ports to do so. Over all it was a good purchase, but set took longer to set up than it should have intially. That is my only complaint.

I ordered the DAP-1522 and the Dlink DIR-655 so I can network together my growing collection of connected electronics. I had no issues getting the DIR-655 up and running. I am happy with it so far. The DAP-1522 is another story.First, the product I received from Amazon was USED! There was no plastic wrapping box and all the cables were undone inside. There was even somebody's handwriting on some of the documentation. I think it was his/her SSID. So this did not give me a warm and fuzzy feeling for the next step.I guess the reason this DAP-1522 was used is because it does not work. At first, I was able to connect to it hardwired through the DIR-655 using the 192.168.0.50 address. But for the life of me, I could not get the two to connect wirelessly. I tried everything that was suggested on all the forums including disabling the clone MAC address. Nothing worked. After a hour or so of trying, I suddenly could no longer connect to the DAP-1522 through the hardwired connection. Now when I power up the unit, it does not even know if it is a bridge or an access point, regardless of the switch setting.I have nothing bad to say about Amazon.com. I have been shopping on Amazon for over ten years and this is the first time I received something that has been broken by a previous person. Amazon has a great return/ refund policy that helps the pain a little. But given my experience with this product and the similar issues I have read on all the forums, I would NOT recommend DAP-1522.

I bought this DAP1522 to connect my Popcorn Hour A-110 media player on our sun porch to the D-Link DIR-655 router located in the kitchen (granted they're only 10 feet apart). The setup is very straight forward, the AUTO setting recognized the ethernet connection to the Popcorn Hour A-110 and set itself automatically in Bridge Mode. I had to make a few tweaks to the router's configuration to optimize throughput for video, but the results were great - I'm able to wirelessly stream 1080p HD flawlessly from a centralized home theatre Mac Mini on my home network through the router, wirelessly, to the Popcorn Hour (bridged to the DAP1522) on a Samsung LCD in our sun room. Amazon's purchase experience was flawless, as well - great price on the unit. Very pleased! :-)

Unlike some reviewers, I found that setting up this device was pretty easy, although the use of the unusual default IP address for the bridge was a nuisance. I needed to switch back and forth between the bridge IP subnet and my standard router subnet several times, and frequently overlooked that step. But taking that in to account, setup was straightforward.However, I could not achieve the high throughputs expected of the wireless n standard using the 2.4 GHz band. On the other hand, the 5 GHz band worked just fine, and I could get up to a nominal speed of 300 Mbps. Using the 2.4 GHz band I only got to about 1/10th that speed. Since I needed to go through a floor and a couple of walls to where I needed to locate the bridge, the 5 GHz band was not an option. It wasn't a problem with my router (a LinkSys device) since I could obtain the needed speed with another adapter at the desired location.If you only need a short range connection using the 5 GHz band, this bridge could work well, as it also supplies a 4 port switch included. But if you need the 2.4 GHz band, this device does not seem to work properly.

I've set up 4 of the DAP-1522's in bridge mode, 1 for me and 3 for friends and family, all connected wirelessly to D-link wireless routers (DIR-655 and DGL-4500) utilizing WPA2 encryption.WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup) makes setup a breeze if your router also supports WPS (you don't even have to access the web-based coniguration utility). Push the WPS button on your wireless router until it starts blinking and within 120 seconds, push the WPS button on the DAP-1522 until it starts blinking. Within a short time (less than a minute?), the DAP-1522 connects securely and wirelessly to your router.In my setup, I have a 2 standalone blu-ray players, a PS3 and a Denon 3808CI receiver connected to the bridge with Cat6 or Cat5e cable. My wireless router is located about 50 ft. away in an upstairs room. Both blu-ray players and the PS3 have wireless built-in, but I was getting better signal strength using the bridge. Also streaming Netflix (including Netflix HD), Pandora and YouTube through the blu-ray players. All four components can also stream media from any other pc on the home network.Where D-link fails is when you have to actually manually configure or want to update the firmware on the DAP-1522. The instructions, imho, are really unclear and dealing with D-link support over the phone is a test of patience. Basically, if you have a router and need to access the web-based configuration page of the DAP-1522, you'll need to connect it to an open router port. The switch on the back of the DAP-1522 should also be set to AP (access point). Once that is done, type in the ip address, 192.168.0.50, into the address field of your browser and you'll get to the login page of the web-based configuration utility.Other than the instructions, the product has been working as advertised and having 4 ports instead of 1 like other bridges is also a major plus.

I purchased this to connect my DirecTV DVR, BluRay player, and ROKU to my wireless network. I am using a Dlink 4500-DGL wireless router, which is located on the second level of my house, the access point is located downstairs and if I were to take a direct route to it would be about 900' away. The access point is extremely easy to set-up even for beginners. I had mine up and running in less than five minutes. I have not experienced any signal loss or "drop-outs", I am able to stream HD content to my ROKU box without any interruptions. I also use this for DirecTV's VOD feature, and experience excellent download times.The versatility of the unit sells it... Bridge Mode, Access Point Mode, or Auto... it couldn't be simplified!I have not complaints other than the stand that holds up in a vertical position is somewhat unreliable.

I brought this to use as a wireless bridge to connect my plasma tv and brue-ray dvd player to the internet. My entertainment system is two rooms away from my wireless router (about 50 feet) which is a Dlink DIR-655.Setup was relatively easy but I'm pretty knowledgeable in networking. I just changed the static ip address of my pc and connected directly to the dap1522 to bring up the setup wizard. After that I was able to configure the dap1522 to connect to my dir655 wireless router and configured it to use WPA encryption.Once I ensured that the dap1522 and dir655 were talking to each other I moved the dap1522 to the entertainment room and connected my tv and blue-ray player directly to the dap1522. The tv and blue-ray player were immediately able to access the internet and performance was great. There was no delay and the dir655 showed a speed of 98 Mbps!Documentation was a little lacking and not very clear but again I was able to figure out what it is that needed to be done. If you buy this and get it configured correctly, you won't be disappointed.

I am using the DAP-1522 as a bridge for my LD BD390 Blu-Ray player that I use to stream Netflix, VUDU, and stuff from my media Server over wifi. Prior to using DAP-1522, the BD390 used to get like 40-50% signal strength. After I hooked it up with the DAP-1522, the BD390's signal reception has gone up to 90-100%. Totally thrilled with the performance. But let me warn you that configuring the DAP-1522 prior to usage is a pain and unless you get the right trouble shooter from D-Link, you will be pulling your hair out trying to get it configured.

Instructions are kind of weak. But Dlink's support website is great.... Walks you through it with ease. after finding that site i was set up and running in 15 mins. great range great speed.
