Product performed just as advertised. Easy to set up, small footprint and so far 100% up time! I use mine for the Bridge functionality which supports an Avaya IP phone. I am very impressed, VoIP perfectly clear. Definitely recommend this product...great value for the price and features!

Given other reviews i took a chance on this product. I was under the impression that anything hard wired to the bridge could get transmitted at 5ghz but that was not the case. It gave me the ability to hook internet to my dvr but no real change to speed increase for my other gaming systems.

I have been trying to come up with a solution to provide internet access to a Samsung blu ray player in an upstairs bedroom for some time now. I first went the route of a Netgear Powerline Adapter (85mbps max) and it worked, but I was only getting speeds of between 3-5kpbs. I tested the speeds with my MacBook Pro and Speedtest.net. On my wifi network I was reaching speeds between 25-30kpbs.I am using a DLink Dir-655 router, so after doing some research and talking to DLink support, I found the DAP-1522. It will work in either bridge or access point mode. I've seen some people have had a hard time with setup, but it was a snap for me. I plugged the DAP-1522 in close by the Dir-655 and pressed both WPS buttons. After about a minute or so they stopped flashing and it was ready to go. I then moved the DAP-1522 where I wanted it in my upstairs bedroom on the other side of the house and plugged the ethernet cable into my blu ray player. I tested the speed using my MacBook Pro and it showed 27kbps.So far so good.

I had considered purchasing D-Link products for years but I was just not that familiar with them. I usually stuck with Cisco or Netgear. I found that those routers were easy to configure and I could quickly get them up and running. This bridge was nearly impossible to get running. The instructions were incoherent. Out of frustration I called customer service at D-link to find out what was wrong. It was a long and convoluted process that took about 45 minutes. That did not include the hour I spent trying to get through.The service tech was vey helpful and experienced. I think his experience was due to dealing with a poor product. Last purchase of D-link products.

I installed this item to use as a bridge in conjunction with the companion D-Link DIR-825 dual-band wireless N router. Initially, I was unable to make the DAP-1522 connect either through the use of the automatic configuration via push-button or PIN. I called support and was walked through the manual configuration process which requires resetting the TCP-IP properties on an existing (Ethernet) LAN adapter to gain access to the web-platform control panel for the bridge/AP. Once this was done the setup was not difficult, although I would say the manual setup does require a minimum level of computer configurtaion experience or comfort.Unfortunately after this was completed, with the help of tech support, the DAP-1522 still was not connecting consistently. I was advised to return in for a replacement, which I did. The replacement unit arrived and when I then repeated the manual configuration process on my own, the connection worked perfectly. I am using the unit on the 5Ghz band to stream the output from a Slingbox Pro located a floor below and some additional distance away from the router, where there is no Ethernet connection. The wireless bridge connects consistently and provides a fast and reliable link allowing me to use the Slingbox with no apparent degradation of the video.By the way, the tech support from D-Link was excellent. You get through to them right away and (although they were apparently following a script) they provided useful support and spoke clear understandable English. I was given a follow-up case ID when I initially encountered my problem and when I called back a second time and referenced the ID, they knew what the problem was. Also, Amazon processed the return and the credit very quickly. They send you the replacement immediately and provide pre-paid shipping for the return of the defective item.

I recently ran CAT6 lines to each room of the house to distribute the high speed internet everywhere possible. My setup consists of an Actiontec Q1000 router/modem which is sending the internet to the rest of the house. It is also broadcasting it wirelessly, but from the very back bedroom... so little to no signal in the front of the house. So I did some research and decided to go with the DAP-1522 to create an access point in the living room to give us the best spacing of wireless throughout the house.Setup literally took me two minutes. I plugged an ethernet cable into the first port of the DAP-1522, flipped the switch on it to AP, plugged in the power cord, entered the IP address to access it's setup (192.168.0.50), gave it an SSID, entered my desired WPA password, chose my signal band and band mode, what channel I wanted (or leave it on auto), and I was finished! All of the devices in the living and dining room area saw the newly configured access point and connected without issue. Even the Mac Mini in the master bedroom was able to see it (though the wireless signal from the original router is stronger).It has not dropped the signal once or had any hangups. It's been perfectly solid.Only complaint I have is that it's not simultaneous dual band, it's either 2.4GHz or 5GHz... not a huge issue, just something you need to consider when setting it up with all of your devices.The DAP-1522 is working flawlessly for me and I am even considering installing a second one in another room!

After wrestling with a DAP-1562 4x4 AP bridge pair that constantly required constant resetting, I went for a pair of DAP-1522s to add to my DIR-655 router. My idea was to partition my network to use 2.4ghz for things like phones, portable game devices and to use 5.0ghz for high bandwidth devices like video streamers and PC's. The 5.0ghz range was so bad that a computer in the next room was lucky to achieve 54Mbs connections. Two rooms away, and there was no signal at all. If you are looking to add 5.0 GHz to your wireless network, just skip this device and spring for a Linksys e4200 or the high end Netgear dual band router. On top of the signal issues, it had the same issue as the DAP-1562 AP/Bridge. Settings were reset constantly.

I have been working in IT industry for over 10 years now. I always like to buy high-tech stuff. I currently have wireless N router from Linksys on the first floor and wanted to take my Linksys PAP2T phone adapter from first floor to second floor. I wanted to buy one bridge which I can use on the second floor so that I can connect the adapter to my wireless router via DAP-1522.I read reviews about this product and bought it in early June this year. The product came in on time (thanks to Amazon). Installation instructions were meant for those who also have D-Link routers. Remember, if you have D-Link router, your default default gateway is 192.168.0.1 but for other routers like Linksys (it is 192.168.1.1). So if you have different brand router, you will have to first connect the DAP-1522 to your computer, change your computer's IP to match with DAP-1522, then change the actual static IP address to match it with your router's IP convention.After trying different settings for about one week or so, I was finally able to connect my device to the internet using this bridge (which eventually connects to my wireless router). So now I had my wireless router on the first floor, the DAP-1522 was on the second floor. My Linksys PAP2T connects to the DAP-1522 (wired) and DAP-1522 connects to my wireless router. But the connection was not consistent. It used to drop the connection every few minutes. So when I am talking to someone over the phone, every few minutes or so the phone goes deaf and then it comes back on.Even after working in IT field and knowing more about networking, I couldn't get this to work. Forget about those who just want to plug and play. It was so annoying that I finally returned the device. I never really had this much bad experience in any other gadget that I have ever used.

I purchased this wireless bridge so I could stream movies. It was very difficult to set up and the instructions did not help. I had to call customer service several times because I either could not understand what they were saying or the instruction they gave me caused another problem. It took 2 hours to get this set up. By the time I finished, I didn't want to watch any movies.

No problems loading and executing this access point. Placed it in a Rectory for our priest, so his Blu-ray could download and play music on his HDTV....also used the wireless access for any company that the priest should receive in his living quarters. The wireless covers every room in the rectory! Will probably purchase this access point for my own home soon! Worth the money!

As of now I just found a D-Link product that is puzzling, intentionally crippled and of limited capabilities. I've been using D-Link routers for years (starting with the awesome DIR-600 all the way to the fancy DIR-825). This thing, like Porsche's Cayman (just a little bit faster than the cheaper Boxter, but hampered to be way slower than the top of the line 911 Carrera) is designed so you will have to rely on the more expensive bigger brothers to get the job done.As a bridge it is limited with the lack of an external antenna. No matter if the main router is the DIR-825 with big 2.4/5 GHz dual antennas; you will have to contend with a cosmetic and useless low range "internal" antenna.As an Access Point (AP) it gets worse, because is truly lacking nearly every single feature that people expect from a modern 802.11 N wireless router. No access scheduling, port forwarding, DHCP server, network filtering, access control, website filtering, nothing.The "auto" switch is as useful as an "economy" mode button in a V8 Corvette. You either intended to use the 1522 as an access point or a bridge. Not likely you will change its initial intended use any time soon afterwards. Probably never.

I'm using the D-Link DAP1522 as an access point in the back of the house. We live in a one-story that's spread out with the router (a Netgear) near the front of the house in my office. The signal gets really weak near the back of the house (through several walls) and so years ago, I took my old G router (also a Netgear), converted it to an access point and placed it in a back bedroom where I had run an ethernet cable (through the attic). The Netgear was "tempermental" (requiring occasional reboots) and the speed was so-so (OK for internet but not so great for transferring lots of large files over the LAN as I need to do now and then).After some research, I decided to replace the old Netgear with this D-Link box. I had a few glitches trying to get it set up. The 3-position switch (bridge-AP-Auto) was a little confusing as the box continually went to bridge mode when set to auto. So, I finally set the switch to "Access Point" and it works just as I want it to. The only other slight "minus" is the browser interface. Some of the information it displays could be "fleshed out" a little more. Specifically, on the page that shows attached devices (wireless), it identifies the devices only with the MAC addresses whereas my main router shows device names as well as IP addresses and MAC addresses. Of course, I do have the highest level of security turned on so I don't worry too much about someone outside the house connecting to my network. And I keep a list of the MAC addresses of all the network devices in the house (besides computers and peripherals, EVERYTHING you buy these days has built-in wi-fi - TVs, DVD players, etc.) so I can cross-reference what's connected to the D-Link with that list. However, it would be a lot quicker to spot an "intruder" if device "names" were displayed by the D-Link browser interface.Overall, though, I'm very happy with the D-Link. I've had it hooked up about 6 weeks now and I forget it's back there. It just works and has never required a re-boot. That only happens when we have power failures, which occasionally happen during bad thunderstorms.

Like many people, my family room is not wired for ethernet so I was faced with getting wireless adapters for all the gear that needs a network connection. I did this for the Tivo and the Xbox over time and it works but is frustrating since those adapters are specific and expensive. The straw that broke the back was getting a Blu-Ray player that also wanted a ethernet connection (wired) for Christmas.I decided to dump all the wireless adapters and get a bridge. I did some reading and this one (DAP1522) seemed like it would do what I wanted. It has four ports on the back so you can connect up to four hard-wired devices to it so they can join your network. I complicated matters a little bit by buying an Apple Air Port Extreme as my new router but my old microsoft router was no longer supported and I wanted to upgrade to N anyway.Basically, the thing works as advertised. Setup is a little confusing since there are a couple of ways to do it. I won't go into a lot of detail on the installation but overall, this is the procedure. I think they want you to connect it to your main computer (that already has a network connection from your router) but I didn't want to do it that way. I took my laptop to the family room and connected it directly to the DAP1522 with the included ethernet cable. I made sure to turn off the wireless card on my laptop so I could be sure that if I got a network connection, it would be through the cable and not via wireless.I set the DAP to Bridge mode via the switch on the back. The default IP of the DAP is 192.168.0.50 so I had to set the IP of my laptop to 192.168.0.25 (25 could be any number) with a mask of 255.255.255.0. I then hit 192.168.0.50 in the browser and the config screen from the DAP came up. I walked through the Wireless Wizard and set it up to match the Air Port that I had just previously set up. I wasn't really familiar with the WPS (Wireless Protected Setup) so I took the manual route. I found out later that I could have entered the PIN into the Air Port and I think they would have talked to each other and auto configured the connection. The only thing I really did was change the IP of the DAP from it's configured address to a DHCP address that the Air Port would provide. Once I did that, I set my laptop back to DHCP. Initially, I couldn't connect. I think it takes a little while to get a DHCP address so be patient. Eventually though, I was able to connect to the internet on the laptop. I then disconnected the Tivo's USB wireless dongle and connected a hardwire from the DAP. Tivo saw the connection, got a DHCP address and connected.I haven't hooked up the Blu-Ray player yet but I'm pretty sure that will work.All in all, I'm very happy with the device.

We now have three (3) DAP-1522s installed in the house. We use their wireless bridging capability instead of running cables to rooms within the house and then use wired connections to the built-in switch.We just added two more as the initial one has been working without interruption for over 3 years.

Device worked well out of the Box, easy to setup using the WPS button on the DIR-655 router. The only issue is that the Wall wart power supply failed after 4 weeks and it is very difficult to order the part from Dlink, found a compatible supply at local store and unit is working well. Steven

I got this to run simply as an AP and a switch, not a router. I've seen some issues where the wireless apparently stops working, but I don't notice because my main router also has wireless and the signal just makes it to where I have this positioned in my basement. Usually I just notice that my iPhone has a weak wifi signal and then go and check this AP.I'm running firmware 1.40, which apparently is not available on D-link's website, so I can't figure out if I should upgrade, or even downgrade. Hoping for some new firmware versions to clear these issues up.This works ok for me now, but I probably wouldn't buy it again unless the firmware got fixed.

Ordered this device to bridge my media (TV, BluRAY, XBOX360) with my existing wireless network.Setup was pretty easy using push-button-connect, my wireless settings were copied to the bridge and connectivity was immediately established.Unfortunately, the device does not properly handle Ethernet traffic and would seemingly at random bring down devices on my network with inappropriate ARP broadcasts. (In this case causing the client to believe there is an IP address conflict).Troubleshooting was difficult as the web GUI only supports Internet Explorer. I usually use Firefox, but with this browser several of the options are unavailable.I was told by support to try Google's Chrome browser as an IE alternative. The web GUI also failed to work properly in this browser as well.I tried two devices and both exhibited the same behavior. I also went out and purchased a DLink DIR-825 router (which supposedly works with this bridge per D-links website) to avoid any interoperability issues between manufacturers. (My previous router was a Belkin N+). The problem still persisted and I was forced to return the second device as well.

Bought this to put in great room entertainment center to connect TV, blue ray, game console and any other device that requires Ethernet vice it's own wireless connection to my existing wireless network. Streaming movies works very well, no lag in gaming. Was a little tricky to setup only due to how I have my wireless locked down. I had to unhide my SSID and remove MAC filtering (even though i already had the bridge MAC entered in the allow table) only long enough for the bridge to connect. Once it connected, then I was able to hide SSID and lock down the MAC filtering again.I would recommend this bridge vice spending an extra $100 for wireless in a TV or another $75 for a wireless USB for a blue ray player. Better use of dollars to get 4 connections with this bridge - for any device.

I got this wireless bridge for a custom built computer that switches between Mac and PC OS's. Out of the box, I'd say the weakest part about this package is the manual - it is extremely vague, sometimes appears to be missing steps, and is just generally confusing and unhelpful. The customer service on the other hand was quick, courteous, and provided very detailed instructions. If they copied the customer service reps e-mail to me and pasted it in the place of the old manual I wouldn't have a single complaint about the product.After setting it up (roughly 30 feet from my router and through about 4 walls) it has worked flawlessly on both WIndows 7 and Snow Leopard, maintaining connection and speed. I also have it hooked up to my Xbox 360 instead of the ridiculously overpriced and underperforming official wireless peripheral and I've no problems there either. I can't see any reason why I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone who needs an ethernet connection but it out of range of a router/modem.

This little unit is quite good. I bought it for use as a bridge and it worked quite well, and then 6 months later I was having problems with my Cisco WAP being killed by the microwave, so I fired up the D-Link in WAP mode at 5GHz and no more problems.My only complaint is that you have to be on the same subnet as the router to configure it, so that's tricky if you don't read the instructions fully before trying to use it. Your computer has to have an IP of 192.168.1.x and subnet of 255.255.255.0 to do the initial setup.

Two issues spoiled my experience with this product:1. 5GHz bandwidth doesn't support invisible SSID but 2.4GHz does, go figure it yourself as documentation is mum about this at all2. Firefox and Webkit based browsers do not show Setup->Wireless page correctly, you are left wondering where are the #$%^ settings? Documentation says nothing about browser compatibility, you just have to guess it must be IE compatible only.As for using button to setup device it is "marketing sugar", not really helpful, but this one is imho as others may like it.Performance is good ~7-8 MBytes per second from DLink NAS on 5GHz and 802.11n (with DIR-825 as router)

Setting up this product to work in Bridge mode takes me about 15-30 minutes. By default, the bridge's IP address is set hard coded in the 192.168.0.x subnet. So if you have a wireless router that isn't in this subnet, you need to set up the bridge to grab it's IP address via DHCP. To do this, you need to connect a node and manually set it's IP address in the 192.168.0.x subnet and set the IP address via a web browser. D-Link should have made the setup of this product easier.The range of the bridge isn't very good, and it works terrible with D-Link's DIR-665 wireless router (which has some of the poorest wireless performance I've seen in a router).Also, I've noticed the lights on this thing are a little too bright. You can almost light an entire room in the darkest night with this thing.

I purchased two to use in my office as public access points for the public. So far I've had zero issues. I'm very familiar with setting up wireless routers and while this was a tad bit trickier than most it wasn't difficult. Granted I nor my staff are using these devices to access the internet so I can't speak to their reliability in that regard but I've yet to have someone from the public come in and have a problem with logging on or connection issues.
