I purchased this item in order to connect my devices that does not support 5GHz in my entertainment center about 6 months ago. Currently, Samsung (UN60D8000YF) and LG (BD690) devices were using 5GHz connection through my wireless router (DIR-855) along with my NAS server (RNDU2220) and my custom-built desktop. However, the Panasonic (DMP-BDT220P) was unable to support the 5GHz connection. In order for me to fully utilize the speed of my house network of 300Mbps, I had to make sure everything is using 5GHz and disable the 2.4GHz on my wireless router (DIR-855). Hence, I purchased the DAP-1522 and had it mirrored the setting of my router and directly connected with the Panasonic (DMP-BDT220P). Thus far, everything is working fine and if I purchase something that does not support the 5GHz connection in the future, I can connect them directly into my DAP-1522, such as receiver, media player, and the game consoles. The reason that I gave 4 stars was because of the setting difficulty. As others have mentioned in their review, the setting on DAP-1522 was tricky and took me about an hour to figure it out. But other than that, it is a great device and it is still working fine after 6 months of usage.

I bought this to connect my xbox 360, blu-ray player, Tivo, and HD-TV, all of which reside in my living room, to my Trendnet wireless-N router which sits in my bed room. It took me almost SIX HOURS to successfully get this thing on my wireless network. Here's where I went wrong: I followed the directions. The directions state that all you need to do is hit the WPS button on the unit and the WPS enabled wireless router - they should automatically sync - sounds easy right? This absolutely was not the case.Instead, this is how I was finally able to get the box online... First, I connected the Dlink bridge/AP to my laptop via an ethernet cable. I then typed in the default IP (192.168.0.50) into the browser addressbox and hit enter. If nothing happens you probably need to change your IP to 192.168.0.XX (where xx is any two numbers) or else your computer will not be able to see the router. To change your IP address (on vista) you need to go to bring up the windows menu (bottom left of screen) and click "Network", right click on the "Network" icon in the list of folders and choose "Properties". This will bring up the network and sharing center. You then need to hit "Manage network connections" on the right, this will bring up a window showing you your wireless and ethernet ports. Right click on "Local area connection" which is the ethernet port, and choose "properties", this will bring up the ethernet settings. Select "Internet Protocol Version 4" and hit the Properties button. This is where you can set your IP address. Change your IP Address to something like 192.168.0.55 - the last two numbers can be anything (but not 50 because that is the default IP of the D-Link Bridge) and set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0 . Now go back to internet explorer (make sure the d-link bridge is plugged into your computer via the ethernet jack) and type in 192.168.0.50. This should now bring up the D link control panel.Once you have successfully pulled up the control panel you can log in, the default is user: admin pw: (leave this blank). Now follow the wizard to link the WPS enabled router and the bridge. For me this required that I go into my router settings (refer to your router manual to see how to do this) and hit a virtual button that allowed me to do the "Push button setup". Both the WPS button on the bridge and router will blink and then turn solid when they have successfully synced. Note, in order to do this I needed to open up a wireless connection on my laptop so that I could control the router and bridge at the same time.OK, once you get the two boxes to link up the battle is almost over. Now you need to UNPLUG your computer from the bridge and RESET THE ROUTER. I cannot stress this enough. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO ACCESS THE INTERNET FROM THE BRIDGE USING THE COMPUTER THAT IS WIRELESS ENABLED OR HAD EVER BEEN PLUGGED INTO THE ROUTER because the router has already assigned that computer/Tivo/Xbox360 an IP address, and the bridge will try but fail to assign a second IP address, so you MUST MUST MUST unplug both the router and the bridge, this will reset all of the IP addresses on the Router. Now plug the bridge in and plug anything you want into the bridge to test the connection. If you are testing the bridge with a computer that is wireless enabled or connected to the router you need to disconnect that computer from the router and/or turn off the wireless BEFORE YOU RESET THE ROUTER or else you will be assigned an IP address by the router and you will be unable to connect to the internet through the bridge. That's basically it. If you reset the router then turned on the bridge then connected your computer to the bridge the bridge will assign your computer/xbox360 etc. a new IP address and you will be able to connect to the internet.Cons: The setup is a NIGHTMARE.Pros: Once setup is complete the D-link is awesome. I checked the ping and it basically has zero effect on latency, connecting strait to the cable modem gives me a ping of 12ms to [...] and connecting to the bridge (which has to go through the bridge THEN router THEN to the modem) only adds 2ms to the latency - which is Awesome. Period. Plus the connection is FAST and (so far) reliable.

I don't have much to add for the 1522 device review that hasn't already been said. The device works well once setup, but the setup process is awful. As a computer engineer, I usually ignore any review that states that setup is complicated. As it turns out though, the setup of this device in bridge mode really is complicated because it just doesn't setup like it should. The router I used with the DAP 1522 is the D Link DIR 655. To get bridge mode to work, you might as well not even try the automatic WPS button setup. It never worked. Other reviews stated you can get it to work if you reset your router, but I was unwilling to do that. The first thing you need to do, as mentioned in other reviews, is connect a computer to the 1522 and manually set your computer's LAN IP address to 192.168.0.x (x <> 50 or 1). Once complete, you should be able to get to the 1522 setup screen by typing [...] in a web browser. If you can't connect, you may need to turn off your firewall. The next thing I tried was manual setup. Even after entering all of the correct information manually for my router into the 1522 using the web browser, it would still not connect to the router. The only thing that eventually worked was to temporarily change my router settings to broadcast the SSID. Once my router was broadcasting the SSID, I was able to go into manual setup on the 1522, click the site survey button, and select my router. Only then would the device connect. No matter how many times I entered the SSID manually with the router not broadcasting the 1522 would not connect. Once the 1522 connected, I set its MAC address as a reserved IP address in my router settings. You may or may not actually need to do that. The last step after the status page on the 1522 setup site says it's connected is to take the device to the location you want. Be sure to plug in a test device that has not previously connected to your router wirelessly (my old Xbox 360 in my case). If you need to connect a device that has previously been connected wirelessly, you may need to unplug your router and/or cable modem for a minute to get a new IP address. When you are done and everything appears to be working fine, you can change your router settings back to not broadcasting the SSID if desired. In my case, the 1522 worked fine after all that.

1st flaw: doesn't work with all common browsers. I was using Chrome until I finally realized it only works well with IE (on Chrome, you can't even see the "wireless" settings at all).2nd, changing the settings on this bridge (or the DIR-825 to which it is connected) is extremely unreliable. That is, you can make a change, even a simple one like changing from 20MHz to Auto (20/40MHz) channel width, and the system will generally choke: either it will not take it (stay on the old setting), take it but break something else (like not finding your network anymore), or some other random issue. Very rarely will it actually take your change AND work flawlessly in one go. Generally you'll have to make the change over and over, perhaps resetting before it finally works.3rd, not all devices work properly with this bridge. I have a PC, Blu-Ray player, and TV connected (wired) to it. All the devices work when the PC is on. But when the PC shuts down or sleeps/hibernates, the bridge "loses" the TV and Blu-Ray, and won't renew their IP lease. Ok, technically, I think the bridge still sees those devices (they generally still show up as connected devices) but it doesn't appear to be forwarding packets from them to my router. How do I know? Because the apps and test tools on the TV and Blu-Ray report no network connection. If I leave those devices on, then turn the PC on again, after a few seconds my TV and Blu-Ray apps start working. Well as you may guess, that's really annoying, because I don't want to keep turning on my PC just to have those other devices connected. I haven't figure out what's causing this but I'm not even sure where to start (and I'm an engineer, and networking is not new to me).4th, you can only do one or the other: bridge or wireless access point. You can't do both. That is, you can either connect it wirelessly to your existing wireless network, but at that point you can only plug in ethernet clients (no wireless clients). OR you can make it broadcast an SSID and set it up as an access point, but at that point you either make it an independent network (not attached to your old network) or you hardwire an ethernet cable from this device to your old router. It seems the wireless card within the device can only communicate in one fashion: either to your old router (precluding you from attaching new wireless clients to the DAP), or as a true access point (precluding you from wirelessly talking to your old router). So is there anything good? Sure. When connected and finally set up correctly, it works well. I've been running it at the 5GHz, N-only, Auto bandwidth mode, and my attached PC flies. Communicating between my 802.11N laptop and my PC is also faster than before on my old G network, but still not quite fast enough to stream HD between the two. Well, I can do it, and it works fairly well, but every so often it will stutter the video or audio. Much better than before, but not quite perfect (let's just say my wife would get annoyed). Both systems are on the 5Ghz network with excellent signals, so interference isn't the issue. It's just capacity. It seems the DAP and DIR will burst at high speeds, but every so often the throughput dips. If enough dips occur frequently, the video/audio buffer on my client runs out of data and I get a choppy stream.Btw, once the device is actually working, I don't have to reboot it. Which is great. But I do have to occasionally reboot the DIR-825, so not all reliability with D-Link is still a huge issue.

I paired this with a Linksys E4200 and, after some trials and tribulations, got everything talking. I used manual installation and configured everything through the web interface.Once everything is setup it works fine but that should be true of any bridge; once its setup you should never have to think about it again, so I don't really consider that a "pro" for the bridge.I selected this one for the gigabit ethernet connections to my home theater consisting of a PS3, XBox360 and AV Receiver.Installation: Setup was a bear. The web interface is straightforward enough, but in bridge mode most of the wireless options are greyed out on IE but appear selectable on FireFox but don't actually allow you to select them. Nothing properly connected until some extensive googling revealed that I should disable Wireless Protected Setup and Wireless MAC Cloning. My 2.4Ghz N network showed up in the browse list but NOT the 5.0ghz network. Manually entering in the 5.0ghz SSID did establish a connection but sometimes you have to do a power cycle of the bridge before the settings will take effect (but not always). If you're not comfortable setting IP addresses and manually configuring network equipment you might want to look elsewhere. HOWEVER, now that I know what to do, I'd have no problem configuring another one. (I didn't try Wireless Protected Setup)Usage: The bridge performance is reasonable but testing for speed is difficult. I forced the PS3 into a Gigabit connection but there's no feedback on the web interface or the front panel of the bridge to denote the ethernet connection rate. I had a connetion to my 5.0ghz router at wide spectrum which should've been providing more throughput but didn't seem to have a significantly faster connection than my WRT54G that I had modded into a bridge with DD-WRT. Again the bridge has no indicators or connection rate to the router (and neither does the E4200). Otherwise the connection is solid and I don't seem to have any drop outs.Ultimately the most annoying thing is that the front panel uses bright blue LEDs for connection indicators and a successful connection to the bridge is indicated by a blinking orange light. Not a steady light, not a blinking green or even blue light... a blinking orange light. (The back of the router says this should be a solid orange light)This isn't a bad bridge, it does the job for a reasonable price. I'm just not sure I'm getting all the performance out of an N-bridge that I should.(Note, if you do use the Linksys E4200 and use DHCP reservations, be warned that in firmware 1.0.01 on the Linksys, devices that connect via the bridge that get DHCP's via the reservation will NOT be able to access the internet! - this is true of ANY bridge, not just the DAP-1522. Static IPs and normal DHCP'd devices on the bridge will work fine... just not DHCP reservations.

Although quirky, I didn't have too much trouble getting it set up as an AP.It seemed to work well for a few months, but now I can't get it to hold a wireless connection for long. Sometimes it works for a week or so, and other times it drops out after only a day. The wired ports continue to work however. It needs to be unplugged to reset. If you look around the internet a bit, you'll find this behavior is frequently reported with this unit.I'd look elsewhere for an AP, and I'll be replacing this shortly. I've gone back to my 8 year old Linksys router and set it up as an AP for the time being. That device is rock solid - just no "n".

I bought the D-Link DAP 1522 to provide a bridge for my D-Link DIR-655 wireless network system. In particular, I wanted internet access for my PS3 and Sony 52XBR9. The Sony PS3 had built-in wireless G connectivity that allowed me to access HD (not 1080P) movies from Netflix. However, I anticipate that 1080P will be available from Netflix and I put a Roku box on another TV (2 TVs to a Netflix account is the maximum) so I needed bandwidth and speed. The XBR9 also called for network access for firmware updates, and had Netflix and other services preprogrammed. The DAP 1522 would provide ethernet connectivity for both the XBR9 and the PS3, I hoped at faster n rates. Because both the 1522 and 655 were D-Link Xtreme N Duo products, I expected easy connectivity. The first problem was autolinking the devices by means of "blue" buttons on the sides of the devices. Half the time the blue button on the 1522 would not light. Once the button became jammed in the down position which was a hastle to fix. Finally, there was no feedback as to when or how or if the units actually linked (the "signal" of the lights going out was as likely to be for timeouts as for a link, even with the units within two feet of each other. I also tried the same connections using internet access to the menus through my hardwired desktop. After several hours I achieved a connection that I could confirm. I connected the XBR9. The Roku box (about 15 feet closer to the DIR 655 and in another room, was hitting bursts close to 54 at 90-100% signal. My laptop (using N) hit close to 100 with 60-90% signal a foot above the 1522. THe XBR 9 through the 1522 was running 20-50% strength with rates in the teens. Netflix directly on the XBR was not watchable (to be fair, the Sony software on the XBR lacks a lot, but that's another story) I redid the connection of the XBR repeatedly (auto and manual) with no good results. I tried the PS3, switching from the built-in g to a hardwired connection to the 1522. Terrible. I read all the documentation on both the DIR-655 and DAP1522. No hint except that using a mixed network might degrade performance. Ah but my HP laptop communicated at a rate near 100 with a strong gn signal sitting next to the XBR9 and PS3.I went on line to chat groups and got suggestions about changing channels and resetting switches in the DIR-655 to increase the "likelihood" of n-rate communication. Well and good. I read the documentation and worked my way through every menu I could think of. These switches were not available. I went to the D-Link site, and got email support and described the difficulty I was having locating the menu options (which I thought should be obvious in the wireless menus). They gave me the same suggested settings that I was trying to achieve, but completely ignored my request for where I might find the switches. Desperate, I tried the setup menu. Auto did no good. I tried manual and was led through several layers of menu which threatened me with dire consequences if I did not know what I was doing. I stopped and searched elsewhere. No good. Now I have been on the project more than five hours. I try the setup selection on the DIR655 again and press ahead through several layers of menu despite the warnings (I am ready to disconnect and return the unit). Voila, toward the end, I reach a nice screen where I can make all the adjustments I need. I make the adjustments that attempt to force the DAP 1522 into n mode. The connection power goes to 60%, but now the XBR9 and PS3 are considered to be directly connected and I get little hint about speed except for the indication of gn (like my laptop). However, the Netflix connection through the PS3 seems adequate for HD movies, but I am not convinced that it is better or faster than the built-in wireless g. The connection to XBR9 is adequate for me to update the firmware, but often stalls on the myriad of built-in connections that Sony provides. Sometimes the XBR9 dowloads music and slideshows from my network great, sometimes it says it cannot find the network. I do not know whether the blame rests with Sony, D-Link or both. The PS3 performs well, but I think it did as well with the built-in g for Music, Slideshows and Netlix. We will see when Netflixs releases 1080P movies over the net. At this point I am operational, and don't want to start over, but I am not happy with the performance or convenience of the D-Link products and interface.

I have a dual band N router in my home office upstairs, and downstairs have a wirelessly networked HTPC in a cabinet under my plasma TV connected to the TV via HDMI. A gigabit switch connects my router to a growing number of NAS devices with many terabytes of x264 encoded video from bluray (mkv files) and lossless music (flac files). So the problem is getting a flawlessly smooth wireless connection between upstairs and downstairs so I can stream high bitrate files (20+ mbps for some 1080p action movie rips). There is nothing that destroys the home theatre experience like a movie or music file lagging or skipping at random moments.Over the last few years I have tried three well reviewed routers and two different wireless cards in my HTPC, all without finding a solution that could make me confident that any file I chose to stream would do so as if the NAS devices were hard wired on ethernet rather than connected wirelessly.Sorry about the long intro. But the punch line is, get a dual band N router (I have a Netgear WNDR4500) and the little box being reviewed here (D-Link DAP-1522 Extreme 4-port gigabit dual-band wireless-N Bridge/Access Point) and dedicate the 5Ghz band exclusively to connecting with the HTPC. The rest of your network running on the regular 2.4 Ghz band will also run much faster than it ever has before.I have experienced absolutely no lag ever since setting this up, even with the microwave on and my city high rise neighbors are all home with their wireless networks fired up.Not a notably inexpensive solution, but it is rock solid and works. You will never be bothered with streaming problems again.

I had been staying away from D-Link for over 5 years because of negative experiences with their networking products, but decided to try again. I am again disappointed with this product and D-Link is back in the doghouse for the foreseeable future.I'm using this product in Bridge to extend my network wirelessly from the router to my home office location, which has a few computers and networked devices.I used to have a regular hub, also connected to the router via powerline network adapters (the kind that plug in wall sockets and use your home electrical wiring to run the signal). That was okay, but the powerline would drop the connection (for a few seconds) once in a while and freeze entirely every month or so, requiring unplugging/replugging each adapter. Also, I wanted a Gigabit-Ethernet network in my home office (so speed-up access b/w computers and to a NAS drive in particular), so I thought this would be a good device to replace both my hub and the powerline equipment. It works overall, each device can connect to the router and access the internet, and the setup was decent. The wireless connection was easy enough to get setup. I'm using 802.11g, though, not the dual-band 11n so I can't comment on that, but the effective bandwidth appears decent .I have two important problems with it, though:1) The 4xGBit ports cannot see each other! Each devices connected to it, can see the router and talk to it (the router can ping each one of them too), but not to each other. I checked the IP/subnet/gateway settings on each and all are fine. So This is useless as a Gigabit switch in my home office: I had to purchase a Gigabit switch separately to connect all my home office equipment IN FRONT of the bridge. For me, that was the big selling point for this device, since most bridge don't have 4xGBit ports.2) About EVERY HOUR, the line will go dead for 2-3 minutes at a time (so I loose internet connectivity). This is maddening and very inconvenient. UPDATE: now using a 802.11n Dual-band router, and the connection is faster AND stable, so this problem goes away in 11n (using the 5G band at least). I would update to 3 STARS.Of course, DLink support requires more time and determination that I'm willing to find (mission accomplished might they say), so that was no help. I believe that I understood all of the settings on that thing, so anyway, what to expect but to have this unit replaced ?

I have (had is a better word). I found the setup to be reasonably easy. Both units worked fine for awhile but just out of the blue they simply would not connect to my wireless network. After about two months of completely normal operation the one in the master bedroom constantly would not connect to the network. Several times I hooked it up to a PC to check the configuration which all configuration data seemed to be correct but I saved the configuration data back to the unit again just to make sure. At one point just resetting the unit seemed to work but other times I had to reset the unit several times to get it to work. The one in the den worked for about three months then started exhibiting the same problems as the one in the bedroom. All of my other wireless devices work just fine with my network(s) (router, ipad, Acer tablet etc.).I just gave up and stored them in my parts boxes for another day. I never called tech support since I have been dealing with wireless networks for years and have a pretty good idea what I am doing. D-Link's tech support has a pretty bad reputation so I just did not bother with them. I have had them long enough that I probably would be wasting my time asking for a refund. It is far too frustrating to deal with them any more.I installed AC line ethernet adapters and all the problems went away.Don't buy these things.

I've had my DAP-1522 for going on three years now. As others have mentioned, setting the device up as a bridge is a frustrating process. It shouldn't be this difficult. If the device is shipped as a DHCP client as default, you should be able to move the switch to bridge mode, log in via the web app and log it in to your router (or use WPS, which isn't recommend due to possible brute force vulnerabilities). No additional setup should be required unless you require advanced configuration. Most users shouldn't have to deal with the hassle and frustration.Once I finally got past the frustrating part, the thing has been as solid as a wired connection for almost three years. I haven't experienced any speed or range issues.Fast forward to today. In an effort to increase the security of my wireless network, I have been trying to disable SSID broadcast and enable the wireless MAC filter on my Linksys WRT610N. With Firmware version 1.22, the DAP-1522 would work with the SSID hidden after some tweaking and tinkering, but refused to work with the MAC filter enabled. All of my other wireless devices (six total) had no issues. So I upgraded to firmware version 1.41, and now the DAP refuses to work with SSID broadcast disabled. There have been firmware updates for the DAP released to address hidden SSID issues, but it appears that it's been broken or not thoroughly tested with this latest version.

UPDATE 3/20/13I have been using this device for some time now...over a year. And while it is still not the easiest to configure, Once I saw a video on youtube on how to set it up, I have not had any issues with it. It's been running steady for the past year or so very well providing my slow WinXP rig at max internet speed test. I just recently upgraded to a 1000 GB LAN NIC, and saw improvement. I plan on connecting my NAS to this device so the NAS remains wired to the desktop, but wireless for all other devices.I just bumped the stars from 2 to 4 given that is has been very reliable. I reduce a star because it is not very user friendly!____________________________________________________________________________________________________I consider myself pretty tech savvy. I have setup many home networks in my day, but this this device has been the most painful setup ever.I purchased this to be able to connect a desktop, a printer, and VoIP device via wireless connection. I connection kept dropping off making the VoIP device unreliable. I had to disconnect the phone from my home office, and connect it in the family room hard wired to the router (I have not had any dropped calls since). The printer never worked properly using this device...it was more of a hit/miss thing. Dropped the printer connection and went to a wireless connections directly from the wireless router in another room, and no problems since.I currently only have my desktop using the device. I had so many dropped connections, and low performance that I bought a new router (Netgear WRDN-3700). This device Has 5 bars everywhere in my townhouse. My laptops, and cell phones all connect even on the second floor with nearly 100% signal strength. This device still drops signal every few weeks. While that is not really a problem, the fact that you have to do so many tricks and work around just to get my PC to recognize that the device is connected, not to mention the actual setup.Every time the device drops connection, it takes me 3-4 hours to get reconfigured. I don't have that amount of free time to fight with a device every few weeks. This thing is getting boxed up and stored or e-bayed, but I have had enough.I do have to say, when connected it's pretty fast, but this is not worth the hassle. D-Link support documentation does not provide a guide that make sense....according to them it's plug and play...but in truth..it's far from it!

Used this to upgrade from a 802.11g Linksys access point. My wireless N devices are happy now. I agree the instructions were not clear but once you get to the setup wizard it's smooth sailing. Auto WAP push button setup worked great for my newer devices (including a Microsoft tablet and laptop) and manual setup for the older ones (couple iPhones and a laptop) worked fine too. I'm seeing sustained n connections around 120 mbps at 2..4ghz. Range is great, I can get signal even in my back yard, while the ap is set up in the second floor office.

Pros: Easy setup. Eady to administrate. Easy to set up with as an access point, bridge, etc. DHCP can be enabled or disabled. Security seems fine. My new favorite since Cisco bought Linksys. At close range without obstruction I get 270-300Mb/s as claimed. Does not drop connections. MAC Filter works great.Cons: If you want Guest Zone you must make sure you have hardware version B. You can't tell until you open the box. This is a major feature omission in my mind, and should be noted in the sales specs. The other, expected one is that range is shorter with internal antennas. And it is, believe me. A lot shorter vs. an older Linksys we have that has external antennas. Unfortunately there are no external antenna ports to improve things.Other: One N-band only. But that is disclosed up front.I'd buy it again, but only if I were guaranteed the "B" hardware. You can't enhance the "A" hardware vis FW update to enable Guest Zone. If that or long-range is a deal-breaker for you, steer clear of this unit.

I used this to add wireless coverage to the upstairs of my house. I put it into bridge mode, plugged it into my computer to configure the SSID and security the same as the other access points in my house, and then connected it to my router via built in wiring in my house. It has totally solved the wireless coverage problems I have upstairs. I no longer have issues with iPads and iPhones getting marginal reception, and it's even greatly improved the coverage in my back yard. With the same wireless configuration as the other access points, my devices move seamlessly between this and the other two access points. I was impressed with the ease of configuration and how much of a difference it made.Note that if you are buying this device, you need to have a router somewhere else in your network.I should also point out that I have not tested the bridge mode at all; only the access point mode.

This device is great for extending a wireless network to additional wired devices. I am using two of these to connect to the network wirelessly, as an alternative to the more costly adapters.

I just purchased and received the product to use as an access point (AP) to provide better wireless coverage in our home. I connected the AP through a hardline to our DIR-655 router in the basement. I switched it to AP mode on the back and connected directly to a by ethernet. I changed the computer IP to what is stated in the manual, and had immediate access to the AP set up webpage. I configured the wireless network and password. I powered it down and then connected to the router and was on wireless internet immediately.I was concerned about set up based on many of the comments in the reviews of the AP. The whole set up took me about 5 minutes and it is working great. So, if you are planning on using this as an AP (and in my case with a Dlink 655 router), set up and functionality is flawless.

I actually gave the automated wizard a try using PIN code and worked the very first time. Set it up in my office, turned it off to take it downstairs and connected my TV, cable box, and blu-ray player all without a hitch. My wireless router is on my 2nd floor directly above where my entertainment system sits on the first floor, and wireless strength is not an issue. Watched a couple of shows in HD and there was not one glitch. Very happy so far on day 1!Not sure if this made a difference, but before I tried anything, I reset the router to factory settings.

I bought this product to use as a wireless bridge with an existing D-Link router I have. It worked very easily with no real configuration necessary. I've been using the bridge to stream HD video to my TV through Amazon Prime with no problems. I was concerned it may create interference with my wireless speaker system but it worked perfectly. I would definitely buy again.

Considering the price and functionality, this product certainly does deliver and seems to be pretty consistent and having no dropped connections. However, i could not maximize the 5 ghz because i have other wireless devices that could only do 2.4. So i had no choice but to use the 2.4ghz. Just wish this one can broadcast both at the same time so i don't have to a manual switch between 5 and 2.4.

This Bridge works as expected and provides fast ethernet access to a few devices in the family room that aren't able to take advantage of wireless signals. The bridge has about 20 feet and 2 walls between it and the wireless router without any noticable slowdowns. The setup was not as straightforward as you might hope, but it did not take long to get it set up and working flawlessly. It has been working as advertised for the past few months.

Let me first just say that I have a D-Link router which I love. That being said... this thing is a piece of crap. The first one I received worked for about a week before it died. The 2nd one lasted 2 days. If you are going to buy a bridge device, look somewhere else.

This has to be one of the most frustrating electronic devices I have ever owned, in 20 years of using computers and 15 working as a software engineer. It really needs to be stated here that the easy "WPS" setup of this device just does not work as described in the manual. The Push Button Control method does not work, period, against either D-Link's own DIR-655 router, or Cisco/Linksys newest dual-band E-3000 router. Even with all devices updated to latest firmware as of 12/15/2010 . The WPS "PIN" method did work once against the E-3000. But there is not much point to it. Once you have gotten to the point where you can access the device UI, you might as well enter the entire Wireless password.D-Link really needs to include a proper manual for the "advanced" setup method, which is the only one that works reliably ! And that manual needs to be in hardcopy, not buried in a PDF on the CD. Since WPS is so unreliable, that should be the first method listed in print, also. I would give -1 stars for ease of installation, and -1 for documentation if I could. So, just forget that this device has a Push button at all, and that your router or other device might also. Ignore the CD that comes with the device also. Justa) connect the bridge via the Ethernet cable directly to your computerb) make sure the computer is not connected to anything else. Disable the wireless card in particularc) setup the computer's network interface with an IP in the 192.168.0.xxx range such as 192.168.0.100 . netmask 255.255.255.0 . The procedure for this varies by operating systemd) connect to the router at [...] in your browsere) choose the Setup tabf) select wizardg) click Launch wireless setup wizardh) leave the device name alone (unless you have more than one bridge) and click next.i) select a new password and click nextj) select MANUAL and click nextk) click SITE SURVEYl) hopefully your router's SSID will show up with decent strength . Select it and click next .m) select security mode . Hopefully WPA2 (some routers call this AES)n) enter the SSID passwordo) wait for the router to connectp) check under the STATUS page that it is connected to Wifi . Wireless radio should say "Enabled", status should be "Connected".If not, try againq) disconnect the computer from bridgel) reset your computer's ethernet interface to DHCP (or previous settings)m) reconnect the computer to your network, either via Ethernet or via wirelessn) make sure the computer can still ping 192.168.0.50 and access the bridge UI over HTTP . This is going over wireless now .o) If you weren't in the desired location for the bridge, move it to your desired location and wait about a minute for it to come back up. The delay is important .n) make sure the computer can still ping 192.168.0.50 and access the bridge UI over HTTP from the computer . This is going over wireless now . If so, you are good to go.o) don't thank D-Link for not writing the doc.
