I have a D-Link DIR-628, so I was able to "cheat" and use the button method to link this bridge with my router. You press the button on this, then press the corresponding button the router, and it's as easy as pairing Bluetooth devices. I've seen the issues with set-up in the comments, and it really is no fun when you have to go into the router or bridge IP address to make adjustments. The only trouble is that the 2 devices have to be very near each other while "pairing." I live in a mid-size city that has relatively frequent power outages for its size and development, sometimes just for seconds at a time, and it's enough to have to reset the connection. But I'm glad D-Link made this shortcut, even if it does only work with other D-Link devices. Once it's up and running, the speeds are phenomenal--like having my ethernet plugged directly into my PS3 and Netflix-ready TV. I was looking for something to go from a study to a lower-level finished area, about 40 feet away, through several walls, and down a floor, and this things does the trick. Recommended very highly. Stuff that used to take 45 minutes to download on a PS3 now takes 3 to 5 minutes, or even less. It makes that much difference.

I bought 2 and put one in my living room, one in the bedroom connected to my router. The living room unit is in bridge mode, set to join a 5GHz network created by the one in the bedroom (the bedroom one is in AP mode.) The distance from the bedroom to the living room is about 20 feet.I haven't noticed any problems with wired clients connected to the living room bridge (so far this includes my WDTV and my Panasonic DMP-BD65 Blu-Ray Disc Player (Black)). However, my laptop, which i use in the living room, drops its connection to the 5GHz network frequently. I've taken to just using my old 2.4GHz 802.11g network (Cisco-Linksys WRT54GL Wireless-G Broadband Router (Compatible with Linux) with Tomato firmware) for the laptop, even though the main reason I bought this unit was to have a better-than-G connection between my laptop and my bridged devices in the living room.This device is a failure since it can't even maintain a reliable connection with a device less than 20 feet away. My condo was built in the 90s and does not have thick walls. I don't have line of sight, but the doors aren't even closed in the rooms. That's just terrible range. What use is wireless if you have to stay in the same room?

D-LINK products like always are outstanding with great value for money , without any compromise on quality. The reason for getting this product was to connect my blue-ray player and sling box ,which was connected in my study and the main wireless router connected in another room. After connecting it I did run into some technical difficulty after updating the firmware , as we lost some functionality and the D- link technician couldn't figure it out and asked me to send it back for a replacement. But i was not about to do that , because i had sent too much of time working on it , so after i put the phone down i played with it and was able to change some setting to get it to work. So the only negative thing I have to say about the D-link would be that, they get better technical support for their products because they are probably costing them a lot of money asking customers to send the device back when they can fix it and resolve the technical problem.

I use the DAP-1522 to connect my home theater and entertainment equipment to my wireless access point on the second floor. It's running on wireless N. I have tried both 5GHz and 2.4GHz band on my access point and have settled for 2.4GHz since I can still connect wireless G and A devices like my laptop wireless. Before I had two wireless access points running together, one on 2.4 G and the other on 5GHz N but it really didn't seem to help so I went to 2.4GHz N/A/G. I also have another computer in a separate room on wireless N and it is used as a media server.On the DAP-1522 I have all four plugs occupied. On these four I have an xbox360, Sony Blu-Ray player, DirecTV HD-DVR, and Onkyo HT-RC180 receiver with network capability. I can successfully stream HD videos to the Sony or Xbox from sources like Netflix or my media server in the third room. I also stream high bitrate lossless music to the Onkyo and Sirius and Pandora internet radio to the Onkyo. I do all this and rarely have any issues. Also you can use the QOS (Quality Of Service) to setup each Ethernet port to customize what each do such as video streaming, best effort and background for devices that use limited connectivity.The web setup is the way to go, I'm not sure there is any other way. Although people with limited computer knowledge may struggle to do the setup but once you access the web setup you are good. You start by manually entering the connection information for the dap (IP address, gateway, etc.) under the network settings on the computer you are connecting to the bridge for setup. Then connect to your Ethernet on your computer you can access the web setup page with some luck. There you can enter the information of your wireless router you want the bridge to connect to, name and password and what speed to run at (N, N and G, etc.).It connects fast and often and has been reliable so far. I love it and it saved me so much trouble. Definitely would recommend it once setup correctly.

been using this product for coucouple of months now. the only reason its not 5 stars is issue i had during setup. it took a while to get sychronization down between device and D-LINK DIR 825 router. using it for xbox 360 and directv receiver. works wonderfully. every now and then, i think its when the devices connected to it are turned off, it wont connect to router. found that just resetting router always has fixed it immediately.

Took me over two hours to figure out how to connect the wireless bridge to my Netgear router. I tried using the Push Button Setup, but had no luck. The manual setup was difficult, it didn't explain it well. And honestly I still don't know what I did. It was a combination of messing with the settings and cycling the power on the bridge, router, and modem. But now its works perfectly and the speed is quite good. Only problem I had is when I lost power in my house and had to cycle the devices again.I didn't try the AP mode considering I already got an active one, but I imagine its good.Overall I'm happy with this product and would recommend it.

Once I got the product installed and configured, it has worked without a problem for the last 3 months. I have not even needed to reboot it on the occasions when we have lost the internet and each of the devices that I plugged into it (DirecTV, HDTV, PS3) recognized the connection and connected to the internet.My one complaint is in the setup. Fortunately, I am a reasonably techie guy, but for someone with limited knowledge of setting up IP addresses, this would have been tough to do on their own. As I recall, I needed to reconfigure my laptop to a static IP address and plug it directly into the router in order to configure it. Ideally, this device should work like our wireless printer, where it searched for a network, found it, asked for the password, and connected. With this, I needed to do the (temporary) reconfiguration of my laptop, connect to the router, run the browser admin utility, and then I was able to configure it to find and use our wireless network. I think with some small improvements, this product could be pretty close to plug-and-play for even the least technical person.

This item is not easy to install. Had to make several calls to tech support and download to get it to work. Speed is slow thru the wireless.

I have two DAP1522s and I'm using one as an access point and the other as a bridge. I bought the first one for use as an AP since I already had an 802.11g router and needed something to give me wireless access on the 5GHz band (the 2.4GHz band is so saturated where I live that the performance is horrible). This unit has been working reliably for several weeks with my unibody Macbook with no lockups or other trouble. Setup was pretty straightforward - I didn't use the wizard, but the manual options were pretty standard for a wireless device so I didn't have any problems.I recently built a home theater PC to connect to my TV, and rather than messing with a wireless network adapter I picked up a second 1522. Configuration in bridge mode was straightforward here too. Bridge mode setup has a nice "site survey" feature that scans for available networks and lets you choose the one you want to connect to. I have had no trouble with the 1522 in bridge mode - my new computer can connect to my existing network & Internet connection without any issues. Streaming works great and I don't notice any lag while using a Web browser.I have not had any issues with range - I'm in an apartment and the farthest I can get from my AP is about 30 feet, so I'm not really pushing it as far as distance goes. At 30 feet I get good signal strength and good network performance on both my laptop and on the HTPC via the bridge, and that's good enough for my purposes.The built-in gigabit switch is a nice bonus. It keeps you from having to use a switch if you're using the 1522 as a bridge and you have multiple wired Ethernet devices that you want to connect to the wireless network. I'm actually using one of my 1522s as the main switch in my network and I could use another port or two, but this isn't something I can really complain about.I have not used these devices on the 2.4GHz band so I can't comment on their capabilities there.Overall I've been quite pleased with my DAP1522s. They operate like good networking devices should: they sit in the corner and unobtrusively do their job. I'd recommend them to anyone who needs a solid 5GHz access point or bridge.

I purchased this about a year after it came out, hoping to setup a high-speed wireless bridge. I updated to the latest firmware and linked it to my D-Link 618 router. It failed to connect in 'N' mode. I tried and tried and tried to talk to tech support, even posting on the support forum, but no one could tell me if it was a cosmetic issue or an actual issue.Needless to say, I eventually gave-up on the unit and purchased a Netgear 'N' bridge and it has worked flawlessly (it links at 160 Mbps). The only caveat (and the reason I'm searching these Amazon wi-fi products again) is that the Netgear does not have gigabit LAN ports, and a faster-than-100 Mbps wi-fi link benefits from that.I do not recommend this product.

I am currently using this to connect to a 5ghz wireless-N D-link router. Documentation is poor, and your best bet is using the web interface ([...] by default) and working from there. However, there seems to be an unpredictable lag time between saving settings and their actually taking effect - it is easy to waste time trying to troubleshoot a problem that seemingly fixes itself after a few minutes.However, once set up, it works as expected. I used this to replace a wired gigabit connection so that I could move my media server to another room while still serving HD movies to my xbox.

i picked up an iphone 4 and it does wireless "N" and i wanted to take advantage of that but my old access point only supported "G" so i got this one at a great price at amazon. it was easy to set up, i set my selector to "access point" went into the software program, set up the devices in my home to "access by MAC ADDRESS only", installed the mac's of all my stuff, changed the default admin passwordand it was done everything entered by MAC ADDRESS worked perfectly and no other devices were able to use the access point. it has worked without incident or problems for the couple of weeks that i've owned it.my only complaint is that the indicator lights on the face are too bright, i mean glaringly bright. it can cause a terrible distraction if placed anywhere that it's viewable. i used a couple of pieces of painters tape over the lights to cut down on the glare and it's still kinda bright. too bad you cant dim them but the painters tape made the light levels tolerable. the bottome line is this thing works like a charm with my iphone 4 and the new USB wireless N adapter i got for my laptop. it will work wonders for my iPad when i get it next month, i can't wait!i do highly recommend this to anyone with a wired system who wants to add wireless into the system that exist or if you have a wireless system and want to "extend it/bridge it" for greater distance, this is your boy. my router, and two switches in my house are all dlink products i've been very happy with them and i am very happy with this one too.

We mainly use this for a bridge for our media center (xbox, PS3, other tv stuff) and have had no issues so far. It keeps a pretty good signal of around 90% through a few walls. We do have it paired with a DLink router so set up was a breeze with WPS (Wi-Fi protected setup). We have ours running on Wireless N but only at the 2.4Ghz range since we have a couple older devices, so we don't get top speed but it connects at around 50-75 Mbps. Once we got it connected I have not had to re-pair the device or reset it at all. Unfortunately there is that issue that if you unplug it sometimes you have to re-pair the box to the router but since it's all DLink here it's a breeze.

Had tech support install product after waiting over two weeks for it to get here. The product is not stable on many providers today. Called AT&T and they said the product would never be stable on their system due to the way in which they supply service.

I decided to purchase a D-Link DAP-1522 to use as a bridge and picked this product mainly because my router is a D-Link DIR-825. I figured I should have fewer problems if I used the same manufacturer. When I opened the box, I was happy to see there was a simple 5 step push button solution. Aha!! My sticking with the same manufacturer paid off....or so I thought. When I pressed the WPS buttons on the bridge and the router, no connection was made. When I tried connecting via a hard wired LAN connection, the system locked up on me and went into an emergency website mode. At this point I called D-Link's customer support. THEY ARE FANTASTIC, but I spent over an hour troubleshooting with the tech. We had to reset to factory default several times, reboot the bridge multiple times, and reboot the router twice. A very frustrating experience that I would have expected if the bridge and router were different manufactures. But apparently compatibility between D-Link hardware is not guaranteed.I am happy to note that the system is up and running. The performance is okay, but I expected more. The bridge is only 30 ft away from router and only goes through two walls. When I looked at other wireless bridges, they all had antennas. Sadly the DAP-1522 does not have antennas and I think they're range is therefore limited. If I had to do it all over, I would have done some more research to find the best wireless bridge available and not limit myself to D-Link.

I bought two of these as an upgrade to my current system. After one week of trying to get them to work with my Pioneer VSX-1020H, and calling/emailing tech support - countless hours, they still do not work. As long as either the AP or Bridge was plugged in, I only got 10-15 minutes before the signal was lost and the Pioneer had to be rebooted. After this frustration, I disconnected both devices and I am waiting for dLink product support to respond because the tech support bumped it upstairs to higher level people. I reinstall my old b/g system (Netgear and QWEST). I have had no problems.Updated: April 4, 2011:I just bought a TRENDnet TEW-637AP and it works fine on my network. After hours of messing around with d-Link, they could not get the units to work. I do not know what is wrong with these DAP-1522s but I now have two bookends. I will never buy a d-Link unit again. Their service and equipment is useless.

I have been running a DLink 614+ 802.11b router/access point for years, and finally decided I wanted better wireless performance. But I did not want to have to setup all the MAC filtering and port forwarding that works so well on the 614+, so I decided to try this little box in Access Point mode to just improve the wireless while keeping the 614+. Well, that was easy! Plugged it into a free ethernet port on my living room switch box and went to [...] and about two minutes later I had a wireless N network. Actually ran both wireless AP's for a while, one on channel 1 and the other on channel 11. Though both were on 2.4, they did not interfere with each other! Finally pulled the plug on the wireless on the 614+, and everything is working fine. Better speed, better range, security upgraded from 64bit WEP to WPA-AES, and a couple of extra ethernet ports if I need them. Very pleased.Update 2/9/2012: Had to drop my review a star. Although my computers connect and work well, I do have a problem with my Pioneer VSX-1020k receiver. If the DAP-1522 is powered up, the receiver loses its internet connection (for internet radio) after about 30 minutes, and requires a power cycle to get back. Turn off the DAP and the receiver's internet connection works fine. Understand, the receiver is hard wired to a network switch OTHER than the DAP-1522, so they are only connected peripherally by the network, not directly. Yet somehow having the DAP in the network is affecting the Pioneer receiver. Very frustrating.

Using it as a wireless bridge for PS3 and DirecTV. PS3 sits in a large wooden type cabinet which had a negative impact on wireless signal. Purchased this hoping it would be the answer.... It wasn't. (Device sits outside of cabinet in open air)Range is not much if any better. Seems I get a better signal from the PS3 alone. Will have the device configured and then it it "forgets" the settings and it has to be repeated. Paired to a D-Link Dual band router on 2.4 GHZ band only. This device can't even pick up the 5GHZ band. We live in a normal house, regular construction, nothing crazy. Literally has to pass through 2 walls on same floor, less than 30' away. Supposedly upgraded to D-Link from Linksys. Not impressed.And D-Link support gives me an ulcer. When you ask them something and they don't have the scripted response infront of them, the akward silence makes me never want to buy from D-Link again.

I got the Dlink DAP-1522 to use as a bridge for the PS3 and Xbox 360 specifically for streaming high def movies mp4 and mkv files from my computer hardrive without running a long cord across the floor to my Dlink Dir-825 router. I followed the instructions exactly and the bridge and router could never find each other until like magic just decided to link up. The manual is outdated with links that don't work anymore (as seen in other reviews on the web from 2009).HOWEVER....once everything got synced up I was able to easily stream mp4 and mkv files from my computer with zero stutter using PS3 media server. The speeds were holding pretty steady between 200-300Mbps . Much faster than the built in adapters which run around 54-108Mbps . If you are able to set up this adapter you will be very pleased with it's performace. I would recommend this adapter to anyone who is trying to use the same setup.

This bridge SUCKS!!! I bought one about 3 months ago, took about 6 hours (with about 3 of that on the phone with D-Link) to get it to work (my husband has a computer science degree by the way)! And if it loses its settings, forget about trying to get them back. Been working on it for about 3 days now, and still won't connect no matter what we do!!

I bought this unit so I could connect my TV and PS3 to the Internet for video streaming. The unit works well for this. I did find the initial setup to be cumbersome. For instance I had to put it in access mode to turn off the DHCP and then back to bridge mode to finish setup. The documentation wasn't very helpful either. It just gave basic information. But after getting everything set, the device works as intended.

I have used this device as a WAP/bridge only. It easily extends my pass phrase secured wireless network allowing my wired only Samsung flat screen TV to access the network and my wireless Wii and Insignia DVD player to access NetFlix and other Internet sites/services. Set up was incredibly easy. Just power it up, push a button and then push another button on my router. After a brief few minutes, the device was ready to go. I moved it to its final position behind the TV, plugged it back in and then started connecting. It connects easily and reliably even with 40 feet and three walls between the device and the DVD player.

I had to purchase this router to take advantage of a 50mbps internet connection. I had an older DLINK router that just couldn't handle the speed. I did my research and it came down to a bottle neck in the processor. Even some new Wireless N routers being sold today have crappy processors in them that can't process data fast enough for a 50mbps DOCSIS 3.0 modem. This router does not suffer from this bottle neck and has the adequate hardware to keep your bandwidth flowing.The only downer is that this router is not supported by DDWRT or other open source firmwares, so you are stuck with the DLINK firmware. If you are not an extreme tech nerd then this is not an issue.
