This device was advertised to be EASY to set up. What a farce! This unit proved to be so hard to configure it has been returned. Would definitly NOT recommend. This device had been purchased with the intent to mate a Panasonic Viera Cast TV and a Blu-ray disc player to the internet. The setup process was so encumbering I have decided to seek another route for this capability.

My goal was to allow a networked printer access to the LAN via a wireless link. I could have purchased a wireless print server, but instead choose the wireless bridge route as its more flexible, can support other devices, and about the same price as the print servers.Surprisingly, there aren't many wireless bridges out there in the consumer space. This one is fast, supports all the latest standards.Setup was easy. I actually used the wizard, which is rare for me. I had it working within 5 mins. I connected it to my dlink dgl-4500 with WPA2 key with absolutely no problems.IMPORTANT: The docs direct you to purchase a dlink bridge for the corresponding WLAN link, but this is not neeeded. I am not sure if it can connect to another brand of wireless AP/router in bridge mode (as I have only tried against DLINK), but I would suspect it can.Another great DLINK network component. I am a big fan of their products.

I've configured the DAP-1522 as a wireless bridge to a DIR-655 (2.5Ghz). I've got a PS3 and a Satellite DVR connected to two of the four ethernet ports on the DAP-1522. I have configured the 1522 to use WPA2 security as well.Setup was a little tricky, but it was my fault not the fault of the 1522. If you choose to manually configure the 1522 be sure you follow the directions and connect the 1522 to your computer and with your computer configured to use a static IP address in the 192.168.0/24 subnet. I mistakenly had my computer still trying to use DHCP when connecting to the bridge and it took me a little while to figure out what was wrong. My computer couldn't get an IP address and so Windows kept assigning an address from a different subnet, so I was not able to establish a connection to the DAP-1522's default 192.168.0.50 IP address.The 1522 works as expected. Performance is very good with a max of 162Mbps through 3 drywall walls (approx 40 ft) to my entertainment center as displayed on the DIR-655 console. I haven't run any local network bandwidth tests to verify the throughput yet, but I can easily stream HD content without blocking between a PS3 and a wired media server. Previously I was using the PS3's internal 802.11g network interface, and HD media was not viewable as it overwhelmed the 11g link.I did notice that the orientation of the DIR-655 and the DAP-1522 did make a difference in the reported signal strength and data rate as seen from the DIR-655 console. So after you've gotten things to work, don't forget to run some experiments to determine the best position for the devices to get the best performance possible.

Using two of them as bridges. The one thing that I didn't like about the DAP1522 is the flashing orange light on the front of the thing when it is used in bridge mode. Maybe a future firmware fix will get this thing to go out. Normally if you see a flashing red or orange light on something it would indicate some sort of problem. Not so here, it just means you are using it in bridge instead of switch mode. In switch mode the same light is a nice blue color. Personally I don't think you need a light at all to tell you what mode the thing is in. You should know this when you set it up via web interface.Other than the orange light on the front everything else worked perfect. It will get the job done.One tip: Broadcast an SSID from a linksys router or it may have trouble seeing your network.

I just installed this product last night. The speed of the connection seems wonderful.! I need some more time to rate the reliability but my initial impression was very good.However, the installation took me 3 hrs. I spent the last hour on the phone with D-Link's customer service.The instruction manual was incomplete and had missing information. The customer service was great though.They helped me to figure out how to set it up.I am happy overall.Update April 24The data transfer speed is awesome. It never drops a connection. Highly recommended.!

So, this basically replaces my wi-fi adapter for xbox360. The benefit of this item is it is much faster than a g wifi adapter, and allows me to use a high security network, wpa2. I know, its much to aggressive for residential use, but its much faster on my router. I wish the signal strength was better, and after some initial setup issues (setting Ip addresses so I could access the device) it works no problem. I have two of them, one in my entertainment center for my xbox 360, and my brother has one in his bedroom for his xbox 360 as well. Both work great, are fast, and have had no issues. My house does have some signal strength issues, but I hope to get a fancy antenna to add to my dlink 655 router, which should solve my problems.I recommend this itemUPDATE SEPT 3, 2008I have switched up my network a bit, as previously I had my router in a basement closet. I have moved my router to my entertainment center, and now use one of the devices for my desktop, which does not have a wifi card, and the other sits in a bedroom and is attached to a PS3, 360, and old laptop. Setup can be a huge hassle, took me a while for the first device, but the second one was no problem. Still fast, and now have a better connection, so even faster. Works great with all the other devices we have, such as a home server. My Dir-655 did not have the button to link the two devices so I did it the old fashion way with the menus and such.

This has the easiest setup. I was up and working in 30 seconds.Then I just had to configure it for my network. Which was also fast. It couldn't be easier. They work perfectly as a Bridge and also as an access point.The only thing that would make it better would be simultaneous 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz.EDIT: (9/10/2009)I've purchased several more of these DAp1522 units and they all have a very easy setup and excellent transfer speeds.I run one in AP mode at 5Ghz n and the rest in Bridge mode. I easily get 100mbs+ speeds when transferring PC to PC. And other wired devices connected to the bbridge works, exactly the same as if connected directly to my router.All my units are on a UPS and have never had any problems. They have all had 100% uptime so far.

If you are in need to connect blu-ray players, xbox360, and/or home theatre systems to your wireless network, then the DAP-1522 is a perfect solution.I already have a Dlink DIR-655 wireless N router, which made the setup to "bridge mode" take 30 seconds. You push the WPS button on the bridge, then press the WPS button on the router, and they find each other in 10 seconds, with wpa2 security enabled as well. You are done.I bought 2 of these for 2 media rooms and signal strength is awesome, averaging 70-80% all the time. I am able to stream HD to my xbox360, watch netflix on xbox360, and pull BD-Live content seamlessly.If you have a DIR-655 router, then this is the way to go.PRO:Easy to setup if you have DIR-655Easy to keep out of site, no attennasGood Signal strengthCons:Little expensiveLED's are very bright, livable though

I have 2 of these paired with the Dir 655. On paper what an awesome opportunity, the problem is, the real world experience doesn't live up to the hype.Clearly D Link have quality issues with regard the actual hardware, as I have updated to the latest firmware etc and my connection drops out and then reconnects immediately maybe 50 times a day - I now need to try and get an RMA.I asked tech support at D link for help - they didn't even bother to reply - not even an automated response - this is very disappointing, it doesn't take much to send an email to help a customer that has invested $400+ in your products.Buyer beware.

I use this with the D-Link DIR-825 and it works great for my Xbox 360. Setup was easy, I have it about 100 feet from my router and my connection speed for my 360 is the same as a wired connection. I can stream Netflix movies in HD with no problems. Worth the money especially since it has four ports. I also have my Directv receiver hooked up to it for on demand programs and it works great.

Easy setup. Good range in AP mode. Perfect stable communication in Bridge mode. Works great in both bands. I use to stream video. Never seen a frozen transmission so far. I use it in cojunction with the DLINK DIR-825 router

I bought this item to bridge my wireless network up a flight of stairs to my entertainment center. I have both an X-Box 360 and a Vista PC using it at only a few dollars more than the X-Box wireless adapter. When using the PC it can stream HD video while simultaneously downloading other content.I had difficulty configuring the bridge in Vista because of Vista's repeated attempts to 'protect' me. Once I decided to use an XP computer for setup I was up and running in less than 10 minutes.

Although a wireless bridge like the DAP-1522 isn't as critical a piece as your router, I cannot imagine my wireless network without it. I have this piece hooked up at my home theater for my XBMC, TiVo, and Dish Satellite. This thing can handle it all and then some. I have yet to have a dropped connection (owned for 3 months) - this thing is stable.I'm currently running it with a Linksys WPA54GS wireless router and it works no problem. (Of course, I will be upgrading that router to the D-Link DIR-655.) Also, for the price I don't see how this can be beat. It has 4 ports, most only have one, maybe two for the same price.I highly recommend this item. Anyone that has ever connected an ethernet cable to anything should have no problem setting this up. Enjoy!

Bridge works as advertised. Great speed as it is able to utilize the 802.11n signal from my Belkin router. I currently have my desktop and a server connected to it. Initial setup and instructions were a little confusing though. Novice computer users who don't know how to change their IP settings might get frustrated. I, myself, am pretty knowledgeable with computers, and even I found the instructions not as straight-forward as I would have liked. For whatever reason I was trying to change the settings on my router to access the bridge setup page, but I over-thought it and you can just as easily access the page by connecting the bridge to your computer and changing the local static IP address settings on your system (to 192.168.0.xx). Once I got everything setup, no further maintenance is required. I was amazed at the difference in speeds compared to 802.11b/g. Never going back there.

My initial problem began with me trying to find a bridge with multiple ports. This item was one of the few available out there to solve my problem of making my directv hd dvr and xbox 360 wireless (both items downstairs with router located upstairs). Once I figured out how to setup the device it worked perfect connecting to my wireless g router and i was downloading vod's and games on both devices with no problems. Although setup was a little difficult instructions were sufficient in helping me to get the job done. Awesome little device with not much competition out there. Looking forward to upgrading my connections to wireless n so i can make use of the faster speed on this device. Item keeps getting backordered so you know this item is one of a kind.

the product works as advertised. it fills a niche. the niche being a access point with a built-in 1 gig switch. takes about 10 to 15 minutes to create the config you want. then just plug and play.when you set this up, first connect with wifi (after plugging into an existing ethernet port), then access the the config with your browser.

Using this to bridge my wireless N netwwork (Linksys router) to a few wired devices in another part of my home. Setup was simple, and I think I've only had to reboot it once. The included ethernet cable wasn't crimped well and didn't work correctly. Only other complaints are that the documentation is kind of poor and the led lights on this thing are very bright.

This device is great! It practically set itself up once plugged in. All I had to do was press the easy setup button on this and my D-Link router and it took care of everything else. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a good wireless bridge.

I had nothing but trouble with this item. 1st was DOA, second worked after a major hassle to get it to connect.Checked the bandwidth throughput on my 360 media center tune network utility and never got a result better than "poor network performance", far worse then the wireless G enthernet bridge it was going to replace. 360 is about 15 feet from the router with little obstruction.2nd one is going back too. Blah!

I already have a wired router (D-Link DGL-4100 Broadband Gaming Router, 4-Port Gigabit Switch), so I bought the DAP-1522 to add Draft-N wireless connectivity to my existing wired network, through its ability to act as an access point. It is small, light, and has no projecting antennas, so you can put it just about anywhere. The built-in browser-based wizards made setting up the network easy - I chose to go with the 5 GHz band to avoid interference from our cordless phone and microwave oven, and to limit the network to draft-N devices only - and the results are really impressive. We carried a laptop all over the house, including upstairs in a two-story house, and it got the maximum signal strength everywhere. Internet access seems to be every bit as fast as over a wired connection, as I would have expected since draft-N connections are supposed to be quite a bit faster than the internet connection itself (via cable modem). Highly recommended!
