My old PowerShot died and it was time to try to get a camera that would take pictures of the grandkids at their school functions and graduations and at concerts we go to. The 14X Zoom is awesome compared to the old 3X zoom. Somehow instead of a blurry dark picture I can actually recognize the kids, it's a pretty good picture for me, a point and shoot type guy. I do need to go over the user manual for a couple of things when I have time. The on/off button is tricky even for my wife, I like the Zoom button, and the single button for showing card photos I just took is excellent. The dark shots turn out as well as my old Olympus Digital camera with it's larger lens. Did I say the 14X zoom is really nice, works well and better than the last PowerShot. I don't usually use the digital zoom but tried it out and got some usable pics of birds and plants etc. so that I could recognize them, they were pixalated, but much, much better than the old camera. I haven't figured out how to play the movies yet. I take it everywhere and take pictures of whatever interests me even if it does take a minute to get ready, I also drive my friends crazy. I probably take about 5,000 shots a year. Many blurry, and missing the kids that were there 2 seconds ago. I thought about a digital SLR but this is just too convenient.

I have been taking pictures for over 40 years and this is the best camera I have ever had. It takes the sharpest pictures, has the best metering system I have ever experienced, and the flash is great. The controls are easy to access and the menus are very well designed. I leave it in Program mode all the time and easily access the menu choices from the rotating dial next to the LCD. The battery is a champ and charges very fast (in about 45 minutes). I have a fancier, more expensive camera, but I haven't taken it out since I bought this little wonder. Also,it is small, but not too small. I have big hands and have returned smaller cameras that get lost in my hands. This one I can use and still stick it in my pocket if necessary. You will not be disappointed and at today's special price, I am thinking of buying a second one!

Great camera! I looked around for months for the perfect one to take on my study abroad experience for the upcoming semester. LOVE the zoom. This nifty little camera can do so much! It so far has taken amazing pictures, better than my boyfriends nine hundred dollar camera. All the functions and options you can do with this camera are perfect. The one thing I don't like is where the flash is positioned. It flips open and is exactly where your finger would be when you normally hold a camera to take a picture. Luckily, canon has built the flash so that you can open and hold shut the flash manually without breaking it. I would definitely buy this camera for your wife, husband, son, daughter, or even parents. Top Camera for the 2010 Christmas season. Anyone would love to have this under their tree.

I was looking for something to replace my Powershot SD600 which has finally started having problems after being a great point and shoot for over 6 years. The SX210IS was easy to use right out of the box and takes GREAT pictures, even for someone who doesn't use all of the features. I had thought that the (lack of) view-finder would be difficult for me, but I guess that the occasional use of cell phone cameras has moved me into the way of the future, because that is not a problem.The automatic pop-up flash took a little while to get used to, but for a novice photographer, I acutuall find the ability to (gently)close the flash without going through the menu a plus - choosing to take shots without the auto flash was never really considered before, but now I get the chance to play with that.Very satisfied with the camera!

This is a great camera. I chose it because of the enormous zoom and the HD video recording. There are many useful and fun features to keep life interesting. The only thing that could be better is the flash which is a pop-up arrangement. It's no big deal but if it was just inbuilt and not another moving part it would be better. In all other respect though it is well worthwhile.

An incredible little camera with fabulous features for on-the-go shooting. As a die hard Nikon fan I was hesitant to purchase this Canon. But the 15x zoom, 14 mp and small size put me over the edge and I'm glad I made the switch. It's not as great as the DSLR's or the full feature digitals but it's excellent for everyday use and quick, high quality photos. This little Canon also seems to be designed much better then simlar cameras from Nikon, Sony and Samsung. Pros - size, zoom, ease of use, design, photo quality and cost when compared to other camras with the same features. Cons - flash is a little awkward but easy to work around, LCD screen has no protection from potential scratches (sleeve or case is necessary). Overall, highly recommended and loving it!

I've owned this camera for a few months now. It's got some nice features but one issue that really bugs me.The good:* Great Zoom* Great pictures* Great 720P video, even while zooming* Lots of control options. It's not a DSLR but probably the next best thing for control.The not so great:* Flash is right where you want to hold the camera* Microphones are right where you want to hold the camera.* If you're narrating, the audio seems to vary a lot.* Autofocus is pretty slow if you're using the camera for video.* Not sure if image stabilization works for video, but if so, it does not work well* Zoom motor noise is obvious in videos.The bad (IMHO):* This camera is not dust proof / resistant and dust gets into the optics really easily. It would be one thing if it were easy to clean but, it's impossible as far as I can tell. So, once it happens you're stuck with sparkles in every shot that has sunlight coming in from the side, lighting up those dust specs.It's a shame that a couple o-rings weren't thrown into the design to make it more "pocketable".joe

The lens are not dust proof. After a few months of normal use (no beach), dust gets inside the camera lens, being impossible to clean them up, unless you send the camera for service.

I was excited about this camera after reading all those positive reviews about it on amazon and before i bought it. finally after i received and used it for 5 days, i was pretty disappointed. the face recognition only works on certain modes, and doesn't work in AV and TV and program modes. for AV and TV modes, it only can be focus on the center, and you have to recompose it after focusing. so that means the focus can be off sometimes, depends on how far the focus is off the center after recomposing. i use AV a lot for my older canon camera, so this is a big blow for me. so i shifts to auto mode. when i use auto mode, the flash fired off a lot, which kills a lot of my indoor pictures. i hates flash. to me the auto mode is not that "smart", or i don't like the result of the photos i took with the auto mode. sometimes the depth of field is not what i want. low light mode work pretty well (i think it can only focus on center too). but you have to dig into the menu to select it.when you get a memory card, please get a "class 6" or higher. bigger video files will not be able to download to your computer if it is lower than class 6. for video shot, if the subject is moving a lot, the camera's focus sometimes will be soft and focus, soft and focus as it tries to look for the face of the subject that is moving. so this is not good either.all things consider, i am thinking about returning this camera. i like panasonic lumiz FZ-35 better. at least it doesn't have the focusing issue.

I expected this camera to give crystal clear pictures. In truth, my 10 year old Olympus takes a better quality picture! Also, the flash mechanism was right under where I normally hold the camera, so it wouldn't automatically raise and had to be done manually most of the time. Loved the color, which is why I considered the camera in the first place (dumb reason!), but expected it to be state-of-the-art quality after reading the write-ups as well. I returned the camera and received a refund (this portion of the transaction was perfect).

First my daughter wanted me to go in with her on this camera for Christmas for her Marine son who is going to Afghanistan. I did. On Thanksgiving at my house I found out my Montana granddaughter wanted a camera for Christmas & I was asked again to help. I did. She & her mom went shopping online & found this one for her in gold. After they left I bought a black one for me & one for my daughter in Texas for Christmas. Since then, one of her daughters got one for Christmas also. I have had 2 digital cameras. This one has to be the greatest! We bought 5 in less than 2 weeks. Fast & Fun. Small, lens protected, image stabilization - love it..

This little camera is amazing! I had been slowly working my way up to owning a professional camera with the hopes and dreams of becoming a wildlife photographer when life threw me for a loop and suddenly i'm going to be living pretty much out of a suitcase for a very long amount of time. So i packed up my beloved old camera and sold it and then wanted a new camera that was small, had lots of settings, good megapix, a great zoom, and that i loved. This camera is so perfect, i couldn't be happier with my choice and with the photos that it takes! just took my family pictures last week, and will be taking some engagement/wedding photos with it this next week!

I love love love the photos I have taken so far. The low light are fantastic, and the zoom is incredible. The only con I can see is where the flash has been placed as my finger is always there when I start it up. Its going to be just a matter of getting used to holding it differently.Almost over a year later and I still love this camera even more than my rebelsIt's over 2 years old and still works well and delivers great photos even in low light.

Overall, the camera is very good and has many very nice features. When I purchased it, I really thought that it would be much more compact in size. It is quite large compared with many other point and shoot digital cameras with similar features. I actually had problems finding a case that would fit it properly....they were either too small or too large. Even though I like it, I'm not sure that I would repurchase this item.

Reviewed a lot of point and shoot cameras before selecting this one.Pros: Takes great pictures and has a great zoom for a such a little camera. And, it's good in low light.Cons: This is not a great action camera...not fast and a little fuzzy. Have to get used to holding it without covering the flash. Just have to get used to it.Overall:Very easy to operate and takes very good pictures. I have a NikonD5000 which is fantastic for action shots and takes great pictures but, it doesn't fit in my pocket like this one does. I'm really happy with it. It does what a little camera should do really well and is very cute. i got the purple which shows the print on it better than the gold.

With the newest release of PowerShot models Canon has changed the recording format of the videos from Motion-JPEG based.AVI files to Quicktime.MOV files. According to them this was done to reduce the file size and improve the quality of the videos.You can use the ZoomBrowser software to convert the files to other format types and save them:It takes about 15 to 60 minutes to convert the videos, but I only need to convert the videos that I am e-mailing to friends that don't know about QuickTime.1. For detailed information, click the [?] button and refer to the Help displayed.5. Click [Finish]. I have owned and operated the Canon SX 210 IS for approx a year. Have noted marked inaccurate color distortions when shooting inside in AUTO or EASY mode...which must be corrected by manually adjusting white balance, light metering, etc.to achieve anything close to accurate colors...but takes time and often miss the photo op.The same thing often occurs outside, in natural light, with neutral objects (like straw hats, clouds, etc.) taking on an unnatural yellow color...even skin colors often take on the colors of the surrounding objects. Very frustrating...something expected from a much less expensive camera...this problem with untrue color reproduction is beneath the acceptable quality of a good camera...this is not a good point and shoot camera...photographer must constantly work to correct color distortions manually.One wonders if Canon did any quality control testing with the SX 210 IS ??

I bought this camera specifically for a trip to National Parks in the southwest. The pictures turned out great. I also brought along my old camera and my husband took pictures with it (Sony Cybershot). His pictures didn't have the clarity and color that the Canon had. The one major problem is the placement of the flash. It's so annoying because you naturally put your finger in that position which stops the flash from popping up. So you have to turn the camera off and then on again.Another issue I have with them is that they don't give you a printed user manual, it comes on a disk. Who's going to print off 180 pages so they can have the user guide to take along on the trip? Exactly! Come on Canon, when you pay this much for a good camera, you need the hard copy of the user manual, don't be so cheap! Send us the user guide.

I can't say I've looked too in depth into the manual, but I did have quite a time trying to set the settings on the manual mode. I can't blame the equipment yet because I'm not extremely familiar with the terms. I didn't give it a full 5 stars because one of the reasons I got this camera was for the supposed excellent indoor photo quality. while yes, it does take really good photos when its all indoor lighting, the quality change is pretty drastic if there is any amount of natural light involved as well. I tried playing with indoor and outdoor modes for this and it seems pretty difficult to find a medium. Perhaps someone with more experience would be able to figure it out more but as someone who purposely chose a point and shoot over an SLR for ease, it's a little disappointing. I read some complaints about the bottom right corner being darkened because of a "lense shadow" in indoor closeups, I haven't had any problem with that. Overalla very nice camera, excellent photos when zooming far in, just have a steady hand when taking them.

The best part of this camera is it has a wonderful display. The interface is very good, navigating wheel on the right bottom corner is very useful. The picture quality in broad day light is amazing but night shots are okay. Any slight movement of the camera in the night mode will blur the image. Specially many might be reluctant to take gold one but i bet its 1000 times better looking that the black one. My friend and me bought around the same time he got black and i gold, he still feels bad for his choice. The battery life is pretty good. I would say its worth for the money.

I was skeptical at first when I first purchased this device, 14mp with a 14 zoom made me feel like every other feature on this device would be no good. I was quite wrong.The device itself has a stunning array of features. What I enjoy the most is the clarity of the pictures I take thanks to the high mega pixels, good optics, and huge zoom that is provided by this camera. The camera even can recognize and interface with my Eye-Fi Card, something I have not been able to do on previous point and shoots. I would highly recommend this camera.

I had a Casio Exilim before this which was small, fun and easy. I was looking for something similar when I stumbled upon this based on someone's review. I am not disappointed. It's way better.I took this on vacation to B.C. Canada and the photos are amazing. The other couples I was with had $1000 cameras with 15 megapixels and my images are just as good. The zoom is amazing, I shot a bald eagle way up in a tree and its crystal clear. The video is great too. I bought a 4g card and near the end of my trip it was full so I suggest getting a spare. I guess b/c of the higher resolution. The only drawback was the battery life. It wore out in 2-3 days of use. I knew that going in b/c of the reviews but bought it anyway so my next trip I will bring a spare with me. I got the purple one so it would stand out in my bag and be easy to find. Don't get it if you dont like purple b/c it is PURPLE. I like the fact that the flash pops up but my finger got in the way the first few days until I started to remember to not put my finger in that spot. Overall, the camera is easy to operate, takes great photos and I highly recommend it for point and shoots.

The zoom on this camera is amazing! Takes great pictures. Less red eye problems compared to older Canon Powershot cameras. A little bit difficult getting to the menus for Beach, Aquarium etc. especially since it isn't written in the manual. Otherwise, very happy with the purchase.

Very simply put, I'm technologically challenged. I can work my cell phone and do a few tricks on the computer, but when it comes to cameras, I'm about as knowledgable as a great-grandmother with dementia. All I know is to push the shutter button and smile.I love this camera. Tired of the typical Walmart $100 buys, I splurged and recieved a piece of machinery that makes even my pictures look fantastic. Listen to no one else; this is the best camera you can get for $250.

This is a nice looking camera with a large feature set. However, the pictures that it took were awful. Especially in low light. I only had this camera for about two weeks before returning it. Side-to-side comparisons of auto-mode with my old 3 Mpixel Nikon E3100 were very interesting. The colors were much worse every time with this camera, the pictures were always overexposed, and this camera always seemed to choose an unnecessarily slow shutter speed resulting in blurring of the picture.

...because the shutter lag in taking a photo drove me crazy. I'm hoping some of my dissatisfaction with this camera was because I didn't use it enough, but the issues I had were: shutter lag, location of the flash (every time it tried to open, that was exactly where my finger was, and I didn't know how to get it to reopen without turning off the camera and starting over), and as a personal note, I didn't like the feel of it in my hands. My guess is, should I have kept it longer, I would have enjoyed it much more.

I've been using this for a few weeks now, it works amazing! The only downfall this camera has (in my opinion) is the location of the flash. You will get used to where it is, not a big deal. Other than that, this camera has excellent features with amazing image quality. The zoom is superior, 14x optical with 56x digital. One note, i figured that the digital zoom would be lousy, I was wrong. The super zoom does focus even at 56x! This keeps amazing me! But camera I've ever owned!

I purchased this camera at $199.00 on an Amazon Daily Deal. But after receiving mine, I am seeing 3 spots in or below the lens glass that won't clean off and that is not good.It means that the dirt was in there in the factory, caught between the outer lens and the inner lens in the focal area. I am feeling that these units were offered as a deal for that reason and not mentioned to the purchaser. Cannon "Must" have quality control and this is a major inspection point. Now I have to return mine and get another one.

I had a sony DSW55 for about 2 years, did the job really well, but lately was getting all blurry, so I decided to do some research before getting a new one. Since I cannot afford a DSLR at the moment I chose this one, and I love it. The only down side I would say that it is the position of the flash and sometimes the auto mode doesn't do what it is supposed to do. But if you actually take your time and try to learn about its features I am sure you are not going to be disappointed. It is a excellent camera.

I bought this camera to have a compact point-and-shoot that would fit in my purse, the zoom and pixels are fantastic for this size of camera, I wanted to like it more. I love Canon's products but this one doesn't seem to fit the bill. The focus is slow and if you're trying to be quick (like you need to be with kids and pets) 1/2 the photos turn out blurry. The features are nice. The location of the flash is very annoying. The video is great as well as the audio. I can't decide if I'll be keeping it yet but I recommend going to a store and testing the camera before buying.

I did quite a bit of research before purchasing the SX210. For the price, it had all the features I wanted and then some. The big bonus; it fits in your pocket! I had just returned an Olympus SP-800 14mp 30x zoom camera which shot great outdoor nature scenes but did a terrible job with indoors and basic family photos. The SX210 does it all. The 14x zoom is plenty for 99% of what most us will need. I shoot everything at 14mp so I can get the extra zoom by simply cropping tighter. Smile detection is a lot of fun to use. Video is not bad and the software that comes with the camera even has pretty good editing capabilities. I purchased an extended warranty because of the poorly placed flash that pops up when you turn it on. Just about everyone that picks it up has their index finger right on the flash and you hear a click as the camera tries to open the flash. I'm told by Canon technical support that they do it all the time also but have yet to break the flash on any of their cameras. Apart from this one flaw I'd have given it 5 stars.

Perfect slim camera with a powerful zoom. Small & lightweight. I have a large camera with a 14x zoom. It is bulky and too large to slip in your purse. This camera has it all for the quick photos you do not want to miss, just point and shoot! For the everyday photos you can not go wrong. The flash placement is awkward and taking some getting use to, other than that I can't say enough about the overall quality of this camera.

I received this camera as a gift to replace my 4 mp Olympus. I took many pictures indoors and out zoomed and not using my old and new camera side by side. I'm sure if I had to blow up the pics a lot, I would see a difference. Since I don't do that, I just judged the pics as they were and my old Olympus far outperformed the new Canon. I didn't like the way the flash was located right where you put your left hand when holding the camera. I also couldn't turn the flash off when I tried. I thought the worst part of the camera was a lot of pics blurred.

I was looking for a really reliable camera for clear photos and videos to record the growth of our new little baby. I was willing to pay more for the Canon PowerShot SX2101S because I thought it would be a great camera. Some times the photos I've taken have turned out great and I've been really pleased. But other times the photos are blurry or the lighting is off. Also, the video goes in and out of focus (even without using the zoom).

I bought this camera for my honeymoon to Europe (it's not 'til September), and I absolutely LOVE it. It's really lightweight for a camera that takes such amazing photos. It's definitely worth the price. I have a blog, and I've had readers commenting on my picture quality...I used a Canon Rebel digital SLR for my blog before. I highly recommend this camera to anyone who wants an easy-to-use, lightweight camera that takes really beautiful, high quality images.

This camera is great especially when you consider the reasonable price. The zoom is amazing for a small digital camera so you can get up close from far away without being conspicuous. Such a plus when traveling in foreign countries when a fixed zoom lense screams tourist and paints a target on your back with pickpockets. I highly recommend this camera.

I love Canons and when I decided to upgrade my "purse camera" as I like to call it...I immediately looked to Canon. I have the Rebel T1i and love it so I wanted a compact camera with good quality. I heard mixed reviews, looked at different brands and even different models within the Powershot family. SO HAPPY with my choice! I have no complaints! Btw, I take approximately 5,000 pictures a year...so many of them are with my Powershot!

Many of the features, as noted in the other reviews, work well, However, the compartment holding the battery and memory card is very difficult to open. The "latch" is so small that it's hard to push and slide to open the compartment. Very frustrating.If you get the gold color camera, as I did, you may find that the icons on the mode selection button are hard to read. The white icon against the gold does not have enough contrast to be easily readable under various conditions. Wish I'd gotten a darker color.The other issue I have with this camera is that a remote control is not available. So, if you're connecting the camera directly to a TV you have no way to fast forward, reverse, etc. There should be a remote available, at least as an accessory.

I bought this camera wanting a small point & shoot that I could carry with me to take videos & photos of my kids. I have a camcorder (Sony HDR-CX500V) for home. I really wanted to like this camera, it has everything I wanted in a camera. I ended up having to return it though due to video mode. Videos were often going in & out of focus and the exposure would change for what seemed to be no reason. Outside did not seem to be too bad but at home it was awful. I tested the video mode in the exact same low light & low movement situation with other cameras that I already own (older Canon SD1000 & Canon S2IS that only do VGA video) & the video was actually worse due to the focus problems. Maybe I received a defective unit? I really purchased this mainly for video, the zoom, & size factor so after finding out the video did not work for me, I didn't really check out it's photo capabilities. I did not have any immediate problems with any other aspect of the camera including the placement of the flash. I realize at this price & for this size of camera everything will not be perfect but I really wanted the videos to be better than my older cameras.

Великолепно

The zoom is wonderful and the camera itself has many good features. It has a solid build and pop up flash. The only problem I have with the camera is the position the pop up flash sits. Once you get used to it however the flash is a non issue. The best way to use this camera is not in the auto position, but rather the adjust the settings and take time to get perfect shots. Great camera overall. I purchased for $200 on black friday.

Well it is great choice and I am very happy with my camera, but few things set clouds over my happiness:Here it is:Cons:Very easy gets dust inside lenses, always use with care, protect and try not shoot when windy.Very easy loses focus when filming.No international coverage of the warranty.In video mode zooming and wind can be heard in the clip. Do not zoom often in quite environment.Almost useless flash, possible it is the worst thing in the camera, it makes handling difficult and when in use under artificial lightning it sets wrong white balance (pictures are yellowish), very short range.Pros:Outstanding good pictures in good light conditions.Great focusing and zoom capabilities.Compact and easy to use (except handling, caused by the pop up flash).Very fast start and ready to shoot.Overall experience is good, but looking for way to get the dust out of the lenses if someone can advise me how (currently abroad).

Still have tons to learn in the operation of this camera but so far It is the most liked camera I own. Once I am more aquainted with the operation, It probably be my only choice. The only problem I have at the moment is I keep putting my finger on the flash door and inhibit it's opening. This is a small design flaw worth getting used to for a camera of this caliber.

I bought this camera and used it for a family vacation to France. I put a premium on mobility and so tend to carry cameras in a pocket (otherwise empty, not with keys, etc.) This hasn't been a problem with previous powershots, but it is with this camera--within a week, detritus had worked its way into the lens mechanism. I know I'll be blamed for not getting a case - and that's true - but the lens also isn't flush with the surrounding metal, and there's lots of moving parts here. (The camera rattles if you shake it gently.) So get a case, and be aware this item isn't all that robust or spontaneity friendly.Picture performance is on par with other point and shoots. At this price-point it's worth thinking carefully how important mega-zoom and video are to you. dSLR really is night-and-day better, and though more money obviously, at this price point you probably are considering saving for one, and I'd think hard about that.Last note: stabilization is pretty good for still pictures, a bit less so on video. I get successful, non-blurry pics at maximum zoom, handheld.

ORDERED THIS CAMERA BASED ON POSITIVE REVIEWS THE FIRST ONE WAS REALLY BAD IT WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN A CLEAR FOCUS HOPED IT WAS A FLUKE (or lemon) RETURNED IT AND REORDERED THE SECOND ONE IS MARGINALLY BETTER BUT FOCUS IS NOT REALLY CLEAR AND IS INCONSISTENT IN QUALITY SOME FAIR PICS MANY POOR PICS AM RETURNING IT ALSO NEVER HAD PROBLEMS WITH CANNONS BEFORE WHATS UP ????
