Yes, it's everything people say - an incredible amount of camera in a very small package. I can't overstate how useful the swivelling LCD is - it makes candid photography possible. No more strained and overposed family photos!
True the USB port cover is a little "soft", but a more solid cover (like the one on the card) would make the camera bigger. If you make sure you press it well into place when you close it, it seems to stay secure.
I'm amazed with the battery life on alkalines - I have a set of NiMH standing by, but haven't got to them yet! Obviously you need to budget for a "real" memory card, and I'd recommend a fast one to get the most from the camera's amazing continuous and movie modes.

I searched and read a lot of reviews especially on cnet.com (great site). for 7megapix it was a super value. Plus a 4x optical zoom. There were a lot of higher priced smaller camers.. but they were only 5-6 mp. For me i wanted the highest mp. We bough this for my father and I ended up buying one along with my sister. Our family now owns 3 of these. I would recommend a higher sd card. 1gb will hold about 300 pics at the highest settings.

This was a birthday present and I have had it two weeks. I love it love it. Have taken hundreds of pictures this is second digital camera for me. This is awesome camera.....If I could find a complaint which is hard, it would be the side flap to connect cord to the computer it is a bit flimsey....

This is a great digital camera for the price. It takes beautiful pictures and is very easy to use. You can take it right out of the box and start shooting great pictures, or if you're like me and need to know every ability of the camera, you can take a minute and read through the manual. The manual is not long and is very easy to understand. I don't know why some people have such a hard time reading instructions... Anyway, this is a perfect point-and-shoot camera. The only thing I would change is the size of the LCD.

Camera has good amount of features. It very easy to use. This is especially important to me who knows virtually nothing about photography. I used it on vacation and the quality of the pictures was still excellent even when blowing up them up to 11 X 14. The camera seems to be about the same weight as my old small point-and-shoot and it fits nicely into a small camera bag. The reference book is also easy to understand. I will be using this camera happily for many years.

I got this one to replace my S110 and also to take to places where I cant take my D70. Overall, the camera takes good pictures. I will focus on the cons. For this much price, I would like to see following improvements:
1) Thinner and slightly smaller than what it is so that I can fit it into my pocket (its not a big deal but a wish list)
2) The LCD resolution is _BAD_ for a camera in this price range. I seriously seriously wish that Canon fixes it. Some people may not mind, but for me, reviewing the picture is important and low resolution LCD just doesnt cut it for me
3) The dial wheel on the right should have a mechanism to "lock it". Whenever I take my S80 out of its case, the wheel has turned to another mode. I always have to remember to reset it. Bad mechanical design. The least they could have done is "provide a way to lock it"
4) Ditto for lens cover. Sometimes, the lens cover moves too easily (while sliding the camera into its case). I could buy a bigger case but that loses the point of buying a small camera !
5) The flash shouldnt have been a pop-up flash to reduce red-eye.

This camera is definitely a great buy for someone who wants a quick action camera with remarkable picture results.....For a 7mp I think the price was great.......just bought my camera last week and it is just as I thought it was....it is a bit bulky but then very comfy to hold when taking shots.......I also bought a 1gb San disk card which can take upto 515 pics on highest resolution.......which is good..........movie quality good too
so far so good i am satisfied

Amazon was $200 cheaper than the office stores. I would
highly recommend purchasing this camera from amazon!!! It is easy to use it was not eat batteries like some of the other

It is not campact, but it is small enough for me to carry it around. I like the fact that it is 6MP with 4x optical zoom. The quality of picture is awesome. Besides, the stitch sofeware that comes with the camera is very intuitive and easy to use. In fact, the stitch sofeware helped us to create a fabulous paronomic photo of Grand Canyon.

This is my first digital camera, and I am really satisfied with this purchase. I used the camera in my recent vacation in Mexico, and it was very easy to use (point and shoot), and gave excellent quality photos.
I really recomend this camera.

The camera provides excellent feature,great image quality, and reasonable price. I bought the camera one month ago. The ease-of-use and fast operation make it a very competent midsized camera for beginners. I have not explored all its functions at different photographic situations,but till now everything is ok and I have nothing to complain about it. Based on those excellent features, I think it is a very successful digital camera.

This camera is perfect for me. I am a novice and the camera is easy to use, has good manuals, easy software and is OK for for my hands, which are big. I bought a 1 GB SanDisc Ultra II SD card which enhances the storage and is quick. The pictures are very good. Make sure you have a card reader, it's easier than the cable.

This camera is my first digital and I am very pleased with the results. The features are great and the shooting modes help you capture the photo you want....All and all a great product and great price! The only con I have is the battery life...but then again they are easily replaced with 2AA batteries!

Using this for almost a month now and thus far i haven't found any thing terribly lacking or wrong except image stabilization. I wish this camera had an optical image stabilizer. It's not that easy to take good photos of moving objects. Other than that the camera is OK.

I love this little camera. After originally owning a Canon, when I wanted to update, I bought a Kodak thinking there couldn't be that much difference and I would save some money. There is no comparison between a Canon and a Kodak.
This camera is easy to use and takes great pictures. I will never stray from the Canon name brand again. Sorry Kodak!

This is a terrific camera for a modest price, easy to use even for a beginner like myself. I was "forced" into digital photography when it became more difficult to get film and film cameras. This camera has made me wonder what took me so long! My only complaint is the paltry memory that comes with the camera, but I bought a 1G memory chip for about $40, so no problems there. I would recommend this camera to anybody.

I already have a Canon EOS300D SLR but I bought this as it's easier to carry around. My wife has a digital Ixus but I find that too small to hold comfortably. Overall, I'm very impressed so far.
Positives :
- Great design ergonomically. It's nice to hold
- Full manual control is good
- It is quite responsive - especially if you pre-focus
- Excellent photo quality
- Folding LCD is quite handy
- Great price compared to my DSLR
- Battery life with 2500 NiMh batteries is excellent
Negatives :
- Image noise at higher ISOs
Thoroughly recommended.
Positives :

So far I am very pleased with this camera. It's been a while since I've taken pictures, but the ease of use, and the ability to delete images which don't come out well, have garned me quite a few "keepers." The ability to download to my Mac computer is a real plus as well.

I am a novice photographer and found this camera extremely easy to use and get started immediately. However, it comes with an additional book for for advanced skills that you can grow into. It also has the capacity to add extra lenses and even an underwater case so that as I get better I can expand my knowledge and skill.

although it's still a little bit weighted than I expected, but it is still a very good camera. the only thing I think cause it's heavier is that it needs 4 AA batteries.
just as the other canon camera, it couldn't mark the date and time on pictures, the only function that you can mark it is while you print it out. so if you don't care about it. just go ahead and check it out.

Good outdoor pics. Terrible, grainy indoor pics. Not a camera to buy if you take lots of indoor pics.

This camera is positively EASY to operate and takes fantastic pictures, even for someone who is virtually picture-illiterate. I am thrilled with it. Read another review if you wanted technical details; I can only tell you it's a great camera.

In the past, if I had any problems with a Lenmar battery, their customer service department responded in a positive manner where customer service was considered number 1, second to none. They will do whatever it takes to satisfy the customer. The price of their batteries are great and their warranty outstanding.
