Couldn't be more pleased with this camera! Vibrant colors, excellent automatic exposure with plenty of manual settings for those difficult shots.

The Canon Powershot A620 works perfectly for my uses. I was set on the A610 5.0MP, but then realized this is under ten dollars more! So I jumped in and got the 7.1MP. The only thing I am really not a fan of is the flip out screen. In time, it will be a good advantage, I just have to get used to it. The accent color mode is awesome, and shutter options impress me. I took a really cool picture of the night sky with a 15 second shutter and it turned out great. Canon did a good job with this one!

A friend recommended this camera to me, and so far I have been more than pleased. I am used to using Film SLR, so finding a camera that is fast and easy to use was important to me. I love that I can change the angle of the LCD screen to get the photos I want without having to crouch down, or climb on something! For special occasions, I will still use my SLR, but for snapshots and outings, this is a great little camera.

This is my first digital camera and I find it entirely satisfactory. The manuals are clearer than most. The pictures are very pleasing.

Good product quality, ease to use. I liked the ability to display the pictures on TV. Easy sharing althoug the software might need to be improved to allow similtaneous selection of pictures with the mouse instead of having to go picture after picture to select the ones you want to transfer. Very good battery life I shot +100 pictures using flash and lots of zoom and the rechargeable batteries (NiMH 2500 mA) still had enough juice for another +100 pictures on daytime. I'm very happy with this purchase.

When I was shopping for a New Digital Camera, I initially wanted to purchase one of the new SLR Digitals. Having used a Nikon FG camera for 25 years and an Olympus Camedia C-700 Ultra Zoom for 6 years, this Canon was not even on my wish list.
When I went and handled the cameras at Fry's and Best Buy, the Digital SLR's were just too bulky. So I was looking at the new releases and the Canon A620 looked too good to be true.
I came home and researched it further, comparing it to Nikon and Olympus, which I had been very happy with. The features on it and the ease of use, as well as the manual options which compared to SLR's sold me.
This camera can be as simple or as complicated as anyone can desire. The picture quality is excellent!!! I used it on a 2 week cruise and got some awesome detail shots.
All in all, I am quite pleased with this camera. It is worth considering in a decision between point and shoot vs SLR

I did a fair amount of research, reading reviews and checking prices and finally decided on this camera. The day after I got it, our company sponsored a class given by a professional photographer and she said this was a great camera -- the kind of thing she'd take on vacation, so I felt I had made a good choice. Since then, I have been photgraphing kids and grandkids, as well as the staff and volunteers where I work -- the pictures are great and stand up to being zoomed in on and cropped without getting fuzzy. I love it!

I brought this camera, looking for something I could take out with me to gatherings and social events, without having to lug my Canon DSLR. I got this camera online without first testing it out in the store. Everyone gave rave reviews on it so when I found a good price I brought it. (360 on ebay). I like the camera, but for me, it's too uncomfortable to hold. There's nothing to help grip or hold the camera besides the black grip string that attached to it on the side. I'm a woman, but I felt my hands were too big to hold this square and slippery camera.
I took images at all levele from small to large and still noticed a lot of grainy areas and they didn't come out really sharp.
Wasn't too impressed with the camera so I resold it on ebay for $390 and will look for something else.

I really don't know why William G. Oxenfeld ("shotsy") gave only one star to this item after praising it that much... specially since the item is GREAT!!
I strongly recommend getting the lens/filter set they sell on the same shop, and you'll be on your way to take great pictures, this kit is a great value, the camera is one of the best values in the market right now...no wonder why it's been running for weeks as #1 on Amazon camera sales!

Took Alaska cruise 1 wk after purchase. Most of 500+ photos are great considering most were from moving train, bus, or ship.

Just after buying this camera, I took it on vacation. I used the beach scene mode at the beach. Pictures are beautiful. I used the night-shot mode on a cave tour and got some unexpectedly good pictures in the low light. There were a couple occations I had to wait for the flash to recycle (a bit slow). At the zoo, it would sometimes focus on the bars instead of what was behind them, but most pictures have beautiful color and detail. I find the mode dial on top makes setting up a shot easy. Love the big LCD.

This camera is a great, great value for the price. This is not to infer that the actual performance of the camera is anything other than excellent i was just surprised how low the price was! It is a great camera and a great price and i recommend it highly but be sure to purchase a fairly large memory card also.

I agree with most of the reviewers. My Canon has worked great for me, with good dynamic range. Hey. The 7 megapix maximum value for photo resolution really came in handy on a few occasions- when i had a really detailed scene to snap. Hopefully, you wont need any larger photos to take.
The camera was also quite robust against some inadvertant rough handling.
The cost of $200-250 seems pretty reasonable if you're getting it new.

I bought the A95 a year ago but the shutter lag drove me crazy so I returned it. The A620 has much improved responsiveness due to the new DIGIC II processor. You press the ON button, compose your shot, and click the shutter within a couple seconds.
Get the A620 if you want a lightweight, fast, flexible camera, that uses conventional batteries, and has most of the features camera enthusiasts want for a great price, currently less than $300. The only thing more I would like is RAW output.

I walked into a store, picked up this guy. It took me about 5 minutes to figure out everything I needed to understand about this camera.
It uses AA batteries - no weird size that you have to buy specially.
It has a USB cord, and the software to get the pictures took about 30 seconds to install.
Ease of use, decent pictures, and price make this a great buy.

I have considered canon A610 and A630, and some SD brands. Finally, I chosen A630. The LCD are large, the only problem is that it has few pixels compared to the 2.5 inch LCD. However, the pictures are good!

This camera exceeded my expectations 10 fold. It may be lightweight, (perfect for traveling) but it is heavily armored. Its capability to act as a macro lens (2 inches from a subject) and 6 mega pixel, night vision, and cool feature "stitch mode" to create panoramic...and all for under $240---folks, it doesn't get better than this at that price. I specked this for an office camera. After using it, I bought one for myself!

This is my first digital camera. Although I love the darkroom, I'd been stuck in it long enough. This camera was a great way out. The 7 megapixels produces great shots and I absolutely love the macro feature as those shots dominate my portfolio. It would have been great to have more zoom...my 70-300mm lens became standard on my Nikon N75. Have not and probably will not use the video feature.
