I'm a amateur for sure but this camera makes me look like a pro. I'm amazed at the picture quality especially from distance. In the zoom mode while reviewing photos I can pick up detail from far away. I wish the manual had more explanations on how to use the all the features. Auto mode works good for now.

well this camera is fantastic , i absolutly love it , very easy to use , really compact , it fits and my smaller bag, it's reat if this is just first camera timers.

I bought this camera as a second camera for our vacation to the Grand Canyon. The camera performed exceptionally. The picture quality is unbelievable. I store photos from both cameras on my laptop and it is very easy to distinguish which pictures are from the new camera.

The only concern that I have with this camera is that it must be held very still to get a good photo. Pictures from moving vehicles or those quickly taken do not come out at all.

The auto flash is a little flaky, but this problem may be operator error on my part in not taking the time to really study the manuals. Overall this is very good camera at a very good price.

i like this camera because it is easy to use. you don't have to be an expert to use it. everything is there for you. just press the button and that's it.

In my opinion the only problem is the Flash, which takes to much time to be ready and it is not very powerfull.

Don't know why, but there are two separate entries for this camera on Amazon. The other one is the "main" entry with the most reviews. Do a search for S80 and you will find both, choose the one with the most reviews.

I'm a Canon fan. What can I say... Great amateur camera. All the modes and features let you play almost with no limits. Picture quality great and I think it's a reasonable price-value ratio.

The housing worked great. Took it to 80ft scuba diving and with the flash on the colors came out ok. No leaks and access to all functions a plus.

Im a graphic design student in college, so i really needed a camera. I decided on this one and i am really glad i did. The pictures are nice and clean. The camera itslef is a very sleek looking one and is very compact. The only downfall to this is that it eats batteries pretty quick, but i just took them out when i wasnt using them. Buy this camera.

Takes really good pictures and It's easy to operate. The software that comes with the camera is pretty good also. I got this with a 1 gig memory card and a card reader. I hardly use the card reader b/c the camara downloads my pics really fast. If you want great pictures, easy to use software, and fast file transfer, this is the camera for you. for the price it's hard to beat.

Item was DOA out of the box because it the focal length adustment wouldn't function. Amazon quickly returned it for a full refund and I found it at another vendor for less money.

The pictures taken indoors are bad. Too many red eyes , despite using red eye reduction. Will not recommend this product for indoor use.

I love this camera. Canon is always our camera choice brand. Well worth the money. Its also very user friendly.

I'm a real estate appraiser and use my camera every day. I have been through a lot of cameras and this is by far the best I have had. Batteries last in it, Photo quality is great for family stuff and it takes a lick-in and keeps on ticken. I love the turn-able screen because it can be shut to keep it safe. Amazon had an awesome price on it and I'm very happy I purchased it.

This is a great starter camera for anyone. Canon is a great user friendly camera. You can take this camera further if you wish, or you can aim and shoot.

I purchased this camera for my 14 year old daughter. She loves it!! Iwas ready for her to use right out of the box. I wish now I would have ordered 2!!

it is practices, light but it needs accessories like carrie case, but is fantastic for family vacations, easy for used by kids

only recomendation i'd make is to buy a SD card that is rated for higher speed writing. Taking pictures at 6mp creates large files that take about 3 seconds to write to disk on a slow SD card (2gb normal speed).

When it comes to cameras (same for other gadgets), you always have to choose between price and quality or between size and function, so it's really great when you find that special ones don't compromise any characteristic.

That is this camera! is not as expensive (below US250!) and have very good specs (7.1 Mp, 4X optical zoom, 2 inch vari-angle display), is not as big (perfect size for the hand) but have a lot of features (20 shooting modes!). Besides, if you are a newbie and too many options scare you, the AUTO mode and the basic modes are so "point and shoot" and take so great pictures that you'll think you suddenly become a better photographer.

This camera takes great quality photos. However, it doesn't offer a RAW format; this camera takes .JPG only photographs.

Also, I've noticed that the camera has a little trouble focusing when using autofocus. For example, sometimes there's a person in front of me, and the shot should be trivial. But after I take the picture, I see that everything's blurry. Other times, if there's a branch in front of me that's just barely in the picture, the camera will focus on it, and it's a hassle to get the camera to not focus on it.

The movie mode is OK. It's not super quality. Blown up, there's a bunch of artifacts, but it's good enough for the web.

The interface is similar to the other cameras in the PowerShot series. I think it's very intuitive.

This camera takes excellent photographs. It's a great choice for those who don't want to drop substantial amounts of cash for a digital SLR. If mine broke, I'd buy another.

We bought this abt two weeks ago and since then have been itching to use this. Need to carefully understand the functions to use it to its full potential. But I had some nice moments where we both went aha! The macro is my fav setting. I was awed by some of the pics in the sample images and realised it is very easy to spend an hour with this camera and nt realise it. It would be great with a tripod, coz it has a shaky camera icon which shows unstability and the pic then arguably doesnt look that good. Else so far we have nothing but praise. It looks pretty good too. before this we had all canon cameras, A60, A70 adn then have also used A30 I think.

I was so psyched when I ordered the camera, every single day I was anticipating to receive it & finally I did. I ran across the room, screamed & jumped from happiness. Guess what? The camera wasn't even working. I did everything on instructions & installed correctly, even waited for 4 hours to charge lithium battery in the camera, but the lens wouldn't open. No pictures shot. So now, I'm gonna waste some more of my time, finding a post-office, sending an item back for exchange, waiting until it arrives again. It's just so annoying & frustrating! My mood is totally ruined.

I'm not even sure if the camera will operate correctly when the replacement arrives & if it will, that it will shoot properly. Very sceptical now.

As far as bang for your buck, I don't think it gets any better than the Canon A620. The image quality is second to none, while it also offers an amazing array of features of settings to be as creative as you want when taking photos. It is a little bulky, so if you're looking for a camera to take out on the weekends to clubs or bars, I would recommend something else. However, if you're an aspiring photographer, or just someone who wants to take amazing photos, buy this camera. I would consider myself a novice when it comes to photography, but this camera makes my photos come out looking like I'm a pro. The camera also offers a great macro feature if you're into that.

All in all, you can't find a better camera for this price range.
