The pictures taken indoors are bad. Too many red eyes , despite using red eye reduction. Will not recommend this product for indoor use.

I'm a real estate appraiser and use my camera every day. I have been through a lot of cameras and this is by far the best I have had. Batteries last in it, Photo quality is great for family stuff and it takes a lick-in and keeps on ticken. I love the turn-able screen because it can be shut to keep it safe. Amazon had an awesome price on it and I'm very happy I purchased it.

This is a great starter camera for anyone. Canon is a great user friendly camera. You can take this camera further if you wish, or you can aim and shoot.

I purchased this camera for my 14 year old daughter. She loves it!! Iwas ready for her to use right out of the box. I wish now I would have ordered 2!!

only recomendation i'd make is to buy a SD card that is rated for higher speed writing. Taking pictures at 6mp creates large files that take about 3 seconds to write to disk on a slow SD card (2gb normal speed).

When it comes to cameras (same for other gadgets), you always have to choose between price and quality or between size and function, so it's really great when you find that special ones don't compromise any characteristic.
That is this camera! is not as expensive (below US250!) and have very good specs (7.1 Mp, 4X optical zoom, 2 inch vari-angle display), is not as big (perfect size for the hand) but have a lot of features (20 shooting modes!). Besides, if you are a newbie and too many options scare you, the AUTO mode and the basic modes are so "point and shoot" and take so great pictures that you'll think you suddenly become a better photographer.

This camera takes great quality photos. However, it doesn't offer a RAW format; this camera takes .JPG only photographs.
Also, I've noticed that the camera has a little trouble focusing when using autofocus. For example, sometimes there's a person in front of me, and the shot should be trivial. But after I take the picture, I see that everything's blurry. Other times, if there's a branch in front of me that's just barely in the picture, the camera will focus on it, and it's a hassle to get the camera to not focus on it.
The movie mode is OK. It's not super quality. Blown up, there's a bunch of artifacts, but it's good enough for the web.
The interface is similar to the other cameras in the PowerShot series. I think it's very intuitive.
This camera takes excellent photographs. It's a great choice for those who don't want to drop substantial amounts of cash for a digital SLR. If mine broke, I'd buy another.

We bought this abt two weeks ago and since then have been itching to use this. Need to carefully understand the functions to use it to its full potential. But I had some nice moments where we both went aha! The macro is my fav setting. I was awed by some of the pics in the sample images and realised it is very easy to spend an hour with this camera and nt realise it. It would be great with a tripod, coz it has a shaky camera icon which shows unstability and the pic then arguably doesnt look that good. Else so far we have nothing but praise. It looks pretty good too. before this we had all canon cameras, A60, A70 adn then have also used A30 I think.

I was so psyched when I ordered the camera, every single day I was anticipating to receive it & finally I did. I ran across the room, screamed & jumped from happiness. Guess what? The camera wasn't even working. I did everything on instructions & installed correctly, even waited for 4 hours to charge lithium battery in the camera, but the lens wouldn't open. No pictures shot. So now, I'm gonna waste some more of my time, finding a post-office, sending an item back for exchange, waiting until it arrives again. It's just so annoying & frustrating! My mood is totally ruined.
I'm not even sure if the camera will operate correctly when the replacement arrives & if it will, that it will shoot properly. Very sceptical now.

As far as bang for your buck, I don't think it gets any better than the Canon A620. The image quality is second to none, while it also offers an amazing array of features of settings to be as creative as you want when taking photos. It is a little bulky, so if you're looking for a camera to take out on the weekends to clubs or bars, I would recommend something else. However, if you're an aspiring photographer, or just someone who wants to take amazing photos, buy this camera. I would consider myself a novice when it comes to photography, but this camera makes my photos come out looking like I'm a pro. The camera also offers a great macro feature if you're into that.
All in all, you can't find a better camera for this price range.

I have this camera for 6 weeks.Great right out of the box. No problems what so ever.For the price this camera takes amazing photos.I never had a digital camera before.After reading the instructions i started to take photos. Amazing is all I can say. Even on auto it takes great pics.I would recomend this camera highly. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

Like other persons I did intensive reviews on all available forums, websites even speking with professional and 80 to 90% recommended the S80. The major cons suggested is the lack of a RAW format,but that is made up by the fact of the superfine JPEG format, my recomendation is to just spend the money and buy at least a 1GB SD card. Some suggested that it is too noisy at ISO400, but thats ok for me because proper camera management you can take excellent pictures at that ISO level.
If you are planning on taking it off auto-mode try buying some books that can assist you, but be patient it takes time to master, and play around like hell, that how you would learn to use the camera. I also recommend purchasing a tripod, so if you are not planning on going manual, I recommend the Canon's SD and A series.

I bought this just before Christmas for my husband and just one day later we are in a position to give the camera rave reviews.
1) the camera is extraordinarily easy to operate - it took the two of us about 5 minutes to cover all its basic functions - a nice thing when it's Christmas morning and one wants to get pictures of the nephews before they start getting too wild!
2) picture quality is amazing. I transferred the first dozen photos to my Mac's iPhoto application and the resolution, color integrity, balance, and focus were all stunning.
3) transfer takes about 10 seconds with the USB cable included in the kit.
4) we even tried a movie (of my mother demonstrating her hula hoop technique). Excellent quality and sound. I didn't get this for its movie functions, but it's nice to know the capability exists so we can capture those, well, rare moments of mom with a hula hoop.
5) the camera has a great feel - solid, heavy, and substantial in size - these might be cons to some, but since the last camera apparatus I lugged around regularly was a manual Nikon, portable tripod, telephoto lense, and various filters, anything less than 7 pounds is pretty darn small to me.
We haven't started playing with all the advanced features this camera offers, but have read about them online and are looking forward to many happy experiments.

This is second Canon I had in last 2 years. I like it very much. The big LCD is a plus. The manual controls gives me a feeling of SLR.
