This is the 3rd digital camera I've owned and by far the best in picture quality. Feature rich and yet easy to use, from fully automatic to full manual. Battery life (not using LCD) is very good. Light weight and pocket size. Great camera!

Loved the camera but both the originally ordered one, and then its replacement, had lens problems. The original had a nick/scratch INSIDE the lens. The replacement did not. The replacement DID have a very distinctly visible band of cemented glue ALL the way around the INSIDE of the zoom lens. The original did not.

Called Canon and their CSR apparently took a look at an A620 they have in their center and said he saw the same thing and that it shouldn't be a problem.

Whatever. I expect a purchased-new product's construction to be perfect. At least give me the illusion of quality control and standards.

Shame Amazon won't replace it again. Maybe the third one would have been the charm.

Amazon did send third replacement. But this one had noticeable vibration and noise when focusing and the "shake" warning came on with EVERY shot even when I sat it on a table to test it. Kept the one with the ring.

Bought this right before our vacation from Adorama Camera, delivery was prompt and complete. All of the reviews we read on this product are pretty much on target;

positives

- takes a great pic

- love the rotating LCD

- easy to use...put it in auto and aim and shoot

negatives

- the download cable interface cover is totally cheap and is bound to fall apart after a handfull of uses...get a SD reader and move images direct from the card (don't mess with the cables)

- LCD is very hard to see in direct sunlight

- every time you cycle power, it goes back to default settings (e.g. when the flash is disabled, power cycling returns it to enabled...but I'm sure there's a way to change the default settings)

tradeoffs

- it's physically a bit larger than some other cameras, but the CCD resolution is worth the extra size (7Mp)

This camera takes high definition shots that look great . The zoom is good enough to get detailed shots of alligators in the water or birds in trees.It is simple to us and so compact and light that I can take it with me every day. This was very useful when I was on vacation recently in South Carolina.

I also bought the rechargable battery pack as it goes through a lot of power, a 1gb memory card and a cary case.It's good to get these at the same time.

I will keep this short, but if like me you know little about photography but want to take some stunning pictures and video, buy this CANON A620 camera.Just returned from holiday and took this along with 1GB memory card and managed to get over 240 photos at high resolution (7.1MP)and about 8 dozen videos ( a couple of mins long each)on the one memory card and the best bit is the original 4 x AA Energizer batteries are still going strong.The pictures are stunning, I kept it in simpleton `Auto` mode apart from a couple of close up`s where I engaged the `macro` mode and this camera did not give one bad picture.Look around and the other retailers are selling this camera for as much as double the Amazon price,it arrived next days special delivery perfect condition WELL DONE AMAZON, WELL DONE CANON!

bought for college daughter. She loves it-easy to use, super, her friends all want one. She wishes she had the tripod for steadiness on pics at night that take a few seconds to shoot.

it's a great little camera! it takes super photos of the greatest quality. the only thing that stinks is the battery life isn't that great, but if you're out some place and you run out, you dont have to worry about re-charging, you can just purchase 2 double A batteries. :-)

This camera is very user friendly and easy to use. The viewing screen is easy to see and very clear. The pictures are clear and good color. Compared to other digital cameras we have used, this one if definitely superior and we would highly recommend.

Purchased this as a replacement camera for an older model. Have used it for a couple of months now and am very pleased with the pictures taken. Easy to use as a point and shoot, but has the option of changing settings for professional results.

Very pleased. I had a samsung w/out optical zoom, it ate batteries something fierce. The A540 went for over 300 pictures on one set of double-A's (rechargeable flavor). Very handy, got the gorillapod. Now the A540 is akin to a parrot with a photographic memory.

I was looking for a compact size digital camera with flexibility of manual controls. This camera has everything that I could have ever hoped to have in such a camera. Works great with Phoenix digital slave flash to take excellent night photos.

This is a wonderful camera. It has soooo many different options and the directions are easy to understand. I use it everyday with my family and the pictures come out beautifully. The screen is great and it flips and moves around.

I hoped to get the product ordered in the website amazon on time, in fact, I got it earlier. Good product, good service, which are so important, I am going to order other products from this website.

Great little camera. Replaced memory card that came with the camera with a 1GB card and we still are shooting away! Easy to use software and small size is great for travel! We took it to Florida and Ireland for our honeymoon and it took great photos with ease!

My only gripes with the camera thus far are (1) the date stamp ONLY works in the "auto" mode and (2) going from live view to viewing a taken picture is very, very slow. Otherwise, this is an excellent camera and I am very pleased with it.

I used to have Powershot A530, but after I lost it, I decided to go with A540 since its the closest to what I had and has higher MP. Overall, the pics are great and its simple to use too... the price is very reasonable for the camera you're getting.

I brought this camera as a gift. But I 'had' to play a little with it, to show them how to use it. the Screen IT's AMAZING!. the quality is great and I love the zoom.

If you are in the market for a reliable camera that takes great pictures, the Canon Powershot A620 7.1 MP with 4x optical zoom is it. It is easy to use, very accurate, and has such great color. I download the pictures directly to my computer and print the pictures on my photo paper and they look as good as as sending them off. I have no complaints about it and I love the fact that I can make action video's with it, it is a fun camera.

I decided to replace my Power Shot A95 (5 megapixels) with the A630. In comparing the two models the enhancement to picture quality with the A630 is incredible. Pictures are sharp. Colors are vivid and true. I am a point and click person...this camera is just the ticket.

A few days after I bought this camera I took it on a 2 week trip to Europe. I am very very happy with it. It functioned smoothly all the time and I got some great shots. Being able to reposition the LCD screen is a real benefit as you can use it to get a lower angle of view without having to squat down or otherwise contort yourself. True, some of the plastic parts seem flimsy but they only seem that way and everything held up really well. Only problem I had is that the shooting mode dial seemed to drift from setting to setting of its own accord and had to be rechecked regularly. The camera is a bit heavy to carry on a wrist strap. I bought a wide neck strap for it and was very comfortable.

after much research i got this camera for my daughter as a christmas gift. it takes beautiful pictures with ease and when printed out right on my computer printer, the images look great. I use it as much as she does. well, maybe more.

I purchased this camera for myself as a Christmas gift. I love it. It was cheap (although I did buy it from Ritz Camera) and takes excellent pictures. It is very easy to use even without the manual. I would recommend this to anyone looking for their first digital camera.
