this camera was ok, at best. Not nearly as gooda their A630 which I'v e owned for a year and love. Before this camera came up with dreaded "lens error", rendering it inoperable, i found it to be fair at best, took average pictures, and had problems with many lighting conditions. I don't recommend it.

I was looking for a small camera to take to Europe that was not too expensive. The reviews I read on this one seemed favorable so I bought it. I was not disappointed. It takes great photos, is easy on batteries (about 300 shots per pair of AA's) and was easy to carry. Very happy with it.

I would recommend this camera to everyone seeking to buy their first digital camera. It is easy to use and takes fantastic shots. Get yours today!

Trade up! Go for the 600 Series. This camera has a v e r y s l o w flash recharge delay. My nephews unwrapped their Christmas presents faster than the shutter would engage. I have a lot of pictures of bodies flying toward blurred gifts. In frustration I gave it to the seven year old and he took outstanding still lifes. It is now his.

I bought this model after using the canon powershot A95. I was satisfied to find that the quality of Canon remained the same irrespective of the size of the camera. All the features that come with Canon were there and the ease of using the camera did not go down by even 1 iota. All in all I am a Canon customer for life.

The camera works fairly well. The only thing I would recommend is buying a tripod to go with the camera. It seems that many of my pictures were a little blury even with a steady hand. Other than that, the pictures were good. The manual mode works really well. The different settings are really useful and the the video mode works quite well.

I currently own a Canon 20D so I was looking for a high quality pocketable camera as a compliment to my "big rig".

The S80 is a nice size, although maybe a little heavier than expected, but still pocketable.

The manual itself is not up to the usual Canon standards, in my opinion. I found it difficult to understand the manual, which is kind of strange, since I was able to easily follow the manual for the 20D which is theoretcially a much more complicated camera.

The S80 powers up quickly, and has a very nice rear LCD screen. The viewfinder is sort of rangefinder like. The viewfinder follows the zoom, making objects appear larger and smaller as the lens is zoomed in and out.

Image quality is very good, however not truly stupendous as compared to images you might see on some professional review websites. I think the professionals find all the best light/photo situations to portray the camera in the best possible light.

A slight disappointment is the max ISO400 sensitivity. Already at ISO400 the image is somewhat noisy, which I would have expected more from Canon.

The controls and overall usability, however, is a class act from Canon, which is known for class acts.

All told it's a very good cam, but not truly an excellent one, in my opinion, so I only gave it four stars.

To be a top cam, it would need to give 800 or 1600 max ISO, even better image quality and a better manual.

Being able to shoot in RAW format would have been nice too.

I think Canon hit a nice level with the S80, but maybe didn't reach enough to call this a professional's second cam.

I think it was worth every cent...

First time canon user, a little tricky at first with the multy functions, but once you get a hang of it, it's all good.

Great size, great functions, and a great price for the brand and the 8 MP.

Give it a try you will not regreat it!!

This camera takes decent pictures half of the time, the rest suck!! The colors are off, people look darker then they are. Maybe the flash is not strong enough. I have seen pictures from 4 different occasions, mostly indoor, and 1/3 to 1/2 of the pictures come out right. It has an impressive list of features and I really like the design. I did a lot of research before getting it and looked at all the pictures online, but I am not very satisfied with it. I have used a Kodak, Olympus and a Nikon in the past and liked the picture quality on all of them, but the pictures from this camera do not come close to the other ones.

I owned an earlier model of this camera, which I was very happy with. It is pretty much the same except for higher resolution, bigger screen and it now uses SD cards instead of compact flash. I like the SD better since it is smaller and my laptop has a built in reader for it. My only regret is not waiting a little longer since the price keeps dropping.

Another lense jam problem. The lense cover accidentally slide open in my pocket, and the lense extended and jammed. This happened frequently with my old Powershot S30 but never caused a problem.

Canon said the warranty is void because there's a tiny dent on the front and back. They said ANY physical damage voids the warranty. I complained that the camera has an all metal body which dings easily. They gave me 20% off the repair.

I didn't even get a chance to test the photos this camera took when I discovered that the one I had has a tendancy to record the sound of the camera itself when making a movie. It would record the moving parts within the camera, so you get this weird clicking sound on top of all the static one normally gets...for me this was a bit too annoying. It is also a tad slow when using flash....but as a start up camera, for someone with larger hands, it should suffice....so I had to return mine. Hopefully the replacement I get doesnt do this....

Excelent camera for novice photograph. Little perhaft the two AA batteries and very good speed to shot.

I've owned this camera since July and after shooting a good few gigabytes worth of photos, I can safely say that the quality of pictures and the features are outstanding! The camera is well built and it even survived a drop from waist height (be careful that you've closed your camera pouch properly!) When you want to take some quick snaps, the program mode is fine and if you want to develop your creativity, there is a lot of scope for adjusting exposure settings. The flip out screen gives you the opportunity for some unusual angles and 7MP allows for some fairly heavy cropping. All in all I'm very happy with the A620 and also Amazon's service!

I won't mention any specs or camera features since Amazon already lists them; instead I'll just give my impression of the camera. At first glance the camera seemed a bit flimsy being made of plastic and the battery compartment being a tiny, tiny bit loose when closed, but I have to say despite that flaw, the camera is a great buy for the price. The pictures are very clear, the camera is very portable, although it is a bit thick, and the fact that it uses 2x AA batteries makes it much better than my former camera which uses a proprietary battery. I bought some rechargeable AA batteries and I'm good to go! It does only come with a 15Meg SD card, which I replaced with a 2Gig SD card I got for around $40 and now I have no worries about running out of space.

Overall, it is a great buy and does what a good camera should - take good pictures!

This camera is perfect for you - unless you want bulk, proprietary batteries, complicated operation. This little gem uses AA batteries, and has an AUTO setting that seems to work every time! If you feel the need to do your own settings, there are lots of options. (I can't comment on these, because it works so well on AUTO).

This camera is really great - especially for the price. I upgraded from a Kodak easyshare and it has better low light capability, optical zoom, etc. also love the big lcd screen.

My only complaint is that the menu functions are pretty complicated to use - I think more than they have to be.

This camera is one of the cheapest and it works great. I liked the rounded edge, gives you something to grip not like the flat cameras. The picture quality is great and it even takes video. there are different options so you can really be creative. I would highly recomend this camera. I even bought 2 for my adult children.

I have purchased 2 520's and 2 530's for my kids and inlaws. They are great little cameras - no problems with any of them, the picture quality is very good, and my 10 year old can use it. I have had battery life issues with the NiMH batteries I use in them - I am not sure if it is the camera draining them quickly or the battery quality.

It's nice to see a product you have used before, on Amazon for half the price of other stores locally or web. I was sceptical of such a great deal at first but after receiving the product in question I have been very happy! This is basically the same battery which came with my camera initially.

Great to have the mix of the good optical as well as digital zoom. Handy camera, light, and perfect for everyday type use.

I opened the box about an hour ago, and have been snapping flashes in people's eyes since. This is a superb camera, from my point of view. I haven't had many digital cameras, but have used my fair

share of them at graduations, parties, and other family events. This is by far my favorite of all the cameras I have used.

I love the quality of images, and feel of the camera.

Though it is a little more bulky than I barganed for, it isn't a, "Go put on a backpack to lug this thing around with."

The zoom is great, and so are the modes. I love macro, it's wonderful to use.

Movie capturing is good, although the speaker is nothing to write home about. Hard to hear from the camera, but on a computer, it's clear.

The only complaint I have is that the door to all the ports is very flimsy, so be careful when importing pictures.

I would suggest purchasing a larger memory card, because the one you get holds 15 pictures on fine quality (medium)

All in all, this is an excellent camera, and I would recomend it to anyone.

This camera is easy to use with automatic exposure settings as well as manual for loads of creative image creation. The LCD screen either flips out or folds flat against the camera. The point and shoot novice will enjoy this as well as the intermediate to advanced photographer. I highly recommend it.
