This camera has been everything I could ask for. It was priced right, with all the features I needed.

I don't want to trash the reviewer from Florida, but reading the manual will take care of all of your problems. The flower icon is for the Macro setting. There's an easy-to-read chart of icons in the manual and if you can't figure out the icon from a chart that shows all of the icons it's no wonder that you found an actual written manual too complex. The macro produces crisp pictures with excellent color.

I also use this to take pictures for eBay and it works wonderfully and needs no additional lighting. I have a simple 200watt soft light and the flash doesn't go off when I shoot items. Turning off the flash is even easier - it's just one button to push and I can't fathom why anyone can't figure that out.

The ISO 800 setting is much better than on the previous PowerShots, but still isn't perfect. However, this is a point-and-shoot camera and is adaquate for almost all needs if you remember that. I shot some wonderful pictures in a dark concert hall and got excellent clarity on about 80% of the pictures - the rest had some slight blurring.

I enjoyed the various settings, especially the stitching, and found them all easy to use and useful. The videos are of pretty decent quality as well, though it's not a video camera.

For the price, this is an excellent camera for everyday use and special occasions.

The PowerShot A620 that I used this with has excellent battery life with Lithium or rechargeable Nickels, so, while the power adapter works well, it's not worth it unless you're doing a lot of shots or are doing a lot of flash-intensive work from a fixed location (near an outlet).

For about half the price, though, this product would feel much more justifiable for a purchase.

This jewel of a camera is a steal at as low as $165.00 online. I've got several more expensive Canon digital models like the S3 IS & SD550, but none of them seem to take pictures as sharp as this one does. You can dress them up with all the bells & whistles you want, but in the end, image quality is what matters to me & this one just gets it done. Plus it is a pleasing compromise in size between the tiny easy-to-shake Elphs & the larger Canon models that you can't carry in a pants pocket. And even though it's the bottom of the line price-wise, it still gives you the option of attaching a wide-angle lens to it. And it runs on AA batteries/rechargeables for even more flexibility. In this case, cheaper is better.

I bought one of these for my wife to use exclusively underwter with the Canon underwater case. It worked so well, I got the same outfit for myself. It is a simple but versitile camera to use with its underwater case. Photos are excellent. There are conditions where the underwater mode cannot automatically adjust quickly, but these conditions would also lead to poor photos anyway, i.e., murky water.

i am having more fun with this than most of the camers i've used for 60 odd years.

The adapter arrived within six days after the order. It was new and I used it the day it arrived. Every thing worked A-OKAY. I downloaded two hundred thirty-six pictures from the camera without a single problem. Best product, best price I could find any where. Thanks Amazon.

It is easy to use, not too big, neither too heavy. High quality of a picture, very high resolution makes possible to crop pictures as much as you wish. It is possible to make a good quality portrait from a regular photo. It is close to professional level of performance, but with very prudent price.

I was hesitant to spend the money on this camera but after I did, I was very pleased and would have spent another $50-100 on it. So many options to use, great picture quality, and the rotating screen very helpful for taking pictures of yourself for webpages and other uses. If you take a picture and view it while turning the camera sideways the picture will rotate anyway you turn the camera except the upside down position. Any otherway the picture will rotate with you, it was something I was in aaahhhh about the first time I discovered it. It caught me off guard the first time I discovered it since I never read directions anyways.

this camera BROKE after 4 months of light use, I used it for business and kept in my brief case.

I was visiting a store I have in Wisconsin and the lens no longer functioned. No big deal send it in for service. I send it in 10 days later I get an acknowledgemnt saying It will be returned FIXED in seven days. 14 days later (with no communication) I call and ask what the hey? They inform me that they are not going to fix it due to water damage! I explain that the camera has been no where near water. They say it could be HUMIDITY! What !!!!!! I was speachless. I said I live in Florida and only use it for business in fact it stays in me briefcase! All I do is take pictures of retail displays and stores. Perhaps it should not be marketed in Florida or Georgia or frankly anywhere! if humidity is an issue.

I'm Pissed!!! Camera performed well until it broke. I assure you It was not dropped or any where near water except for Humidity!!!! That I am guilty of, living in Florida.

A completly BAD Experience with their quality and service.

I love the camera, however it seems to be a bit on the fragile side, based on the fact that it has a lens error and I never dropped it or had considerable damage done to it. It is currently on its way back to the manufactor to get repaired.

However I love the options, and it's fairly easy to operate. I was also slightly dissapointed that there are no waterproof cases available for my model. Maybe in the future?

Upgraded from Olympus Stylus 300 and what a difference a few years makes. Shoots pictures fast, and has an amazing amount of settings. We really like the color shooting mode where on one of the features you can focus on just 1-color and everything else is black and white. Took some amazing red-only 4th of July pictures with my kids.

I was worried about battery life since it didn't come with a rechargeable battery but the set that came in the camera lasted about a month taking several hundred shots. Purchased Energizer rechargeables and they are working great to avoid purchasing new AAs each time.

There are 2 cons with this camera compared to say the Canon SD450, the first is size, it is a large camera - but it is worth it for the quality of pictures it takes. The other con is the screen size, the SD450 has a much bigger screen size and is much smaller. If you're looking for a great camera that has most of the bells and whistles of this camera but is smaller choose the SD450. If the highest quality shots is your number one priority, then buy this camera.

I bought this to replace my Canon A75 to increase from 3.2MP to 5MP and go from a 3x optical zoom to a 4x optical zoom as well as move a smaller sized camera. All that is good, but my one dissappointment is that I have to wait much longer between shots (up to 15 seconds) before I can take another photo! I assume this is for the flash to charge but it is really annoying when there is the fast action of Christmas and other activities and I am continually waiting for the camera to take the next photo.

I love this camera. I was switching over from a 35 mm, which I've had for 20 years, and used Consumer Report as a guide. There are a lot of little picture-icons on the readout screen on the back of the camera, which take some memorizing to get straight, but at the same time, you can do as much or as little "fancy" as you like, and still get pictures that look really good. This is a camera to grow with. I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone.

Easy to use, and very flexible with many features. I am used to single lens reflex cameras, and depth-of-field calculations. But you can use this camera as a simple snap-shot camera, or by-pass the automatic features for more creative work. Also, good for letting your kids try out digital photography with low risks (technical and financial). A great investment for <$140., and a great, new toy for me. The software is very easy to use; you can email your photos almost at once.

Great camera for the money. Canon is always good quality and this is no exception. I'm very happy with the shots I've taken and I haven't even had the time to go thru the book and see all that it will do. It has lots of options in addition to just point and shoot. Highly recommend it. My single complaint is that Canon cut corners by putting on a flimsy little piece to open for the AV/DC in-out. It's no big deal, but it doesn't match the high quality of the rest of the camera.

I've spent the last 20 years being an enthusiastic amateur photographer. I currently have a Canon EOS300D SLR but I bought this as it's easier to carry around. My wife has a digital Ixus but I find that too small to hold comfortably and have been disappointed with the picture quality. Overall, I'm very impressed with the A620 so far.

Positives :

- Excellent photo quality. Easily enough for 10"x8" prints.

- Great design ergonomically. It's nice to hold and the controls are logical.

- Full manual control is useful together with numerous automatic modes.

- It is quite responsive - especially if you pre-focus

- Folding LCD is great

- Great price compared to my DSLR. (The DSLR cost 5 times as much!)

- Battery life with 2500 NiMh batteries is excellent

Negatives :

- Image noise at higher ISOs

- Plastic body marks easily. (Though the DSLR is the same.)

Thoroughly recommended. For the price, it's hard to believe how they could improve it.

Gotta love it - easy to use, simple instructions make even the most complicated setting a breeze. Love the pivoting viewer - makes lining up the group shot easier and never a worry about scratching or cracking it. Wish it was smaller but then again the size is due to the batteries (AA) which last surprising long and for the forgetful charging impaired you are never too far from somplace that sells them. Videos are amazing - clear video and audio - sorry I didn't buy it sooner

For travel, this camera is light weight and easy to use. I love that I now have a camera that i can dowload to my canon printer and/or computer.

Great Camera, not quite professional photos but very clear and very good for vacations and family events

I bought this camera as a second camera for traveling. It is fantastic! The picture quality is great, the first set of batteries lasted the entire trip and even my husband could figure out how to use it. The only thing I needed to purchase was an additional (much larger) memory card.

I have always owned Canon digital cameras and see no reason to try anything else. Canon makes great digital cameras and I actually prefer using this camera to our digital Rebel for many of pictures we take while traveling.

I was not quite satisfied with my buy becuase the camera takea a long time before it can snap the next photo. I am not sure if this just with my camera or a generic problem.

I absolutely love this camera! It's my first digital, but its performance has far exceeded my expectations. My pictures are crisp and clear and using the various exposures, I've taken great low light pictures as well as full-light pictures. I've recommended it to two friends, who have also purchased it and who have been just as excited over it as I am. I highly recommend it.

After using the camera for less than a month the on/off button stopped functioning and now there is now way to turn on the camera.

This is an outstanding little camera. It's so user friendly that my 4-year old can operate it. The picture quality (6 megapixels) is outstanding, and the interface between the camera and computer is as easy as 1-2-3. I recommend the Canon Powershot (no matter how many megapixels) for any beginner or family camera. You will not be disappointed in any way, especially with the "price to quality" ratio. Great camera for a great price.
