The A620 was a replacement for a very dated 1.5MP camera that I use for general shooting and it's a real treat, fast shooting time and all the adjustments I wanted in a digital. It's too big to be called a pocket camera but having the additional controls is worth the trade off. All in all an excellent camera at a real bargin price.

The pictures at 8 megapixel are just bomb. And the video at 640 X 480 puts this camera over the top.

I am a photo professional and I previously used a Canon S40 for small carry around stuff of the kids while travling lite and now this just blows it away. This camera has all the tools you could want with absolutely top-notch quality. But keep in mind its not all about the equipment, you need to know how to use what u got. Dont expect to take much better pics just by buying this camera. you need to be able to take good pics urself. But this camera gives amateur and pro all he would want and it delivers on the quality. No wonder it was rated top camera by Consumer Reports as well as other photo experts...

I brought this camera to replace an old fixed focus olympus digital camera.
How technology has moved on, this camera has no perceived shutter lag, the response when moving around the menu's or viewing pictures on the LCD is extremely fast.
The swivel LCD is great and makes taking pictures at funny angles a breeze, it's 2" in size and very clear when viewing pictures or composing pictures.
Pictures seem to come out perfect when using Auto mode, this is good for point and shoot people but the camera has full manual controls as well if you wish to experiment with different effect, Auto is good for when the missus wants to take snaps as 9 out of 10 come out good which keeps her happy !!!
The colours are sharp, focusing is quick and the macro mode is amazing as it will focus down to 1cm.
Movie mode is good, much better than I thought it would be, you will need a big fast SD card though as it uses a lot of memory.
If I had to pick a fault with it I would say the zoom is quiet noisey, but not having used a digital zoom camera before I don't know if they are all like that or not.
Also don't forget this is not a super compact camera, I checked out some different cameras in a shop and there are much smaller cameras available, I prefered the slightly larger size of the A620 as it was easier to hold and felt right to me.
I'm sure a professional photographer could find faults with this camera but for me it is a great purchase, I highly recommend it for mr average who wants to take great pictures.

I'm very happy with this camera. The video feature comes out to a nice size on my 15 inch screen, it covers about 1/3 of the screen. The pictures are nice, too, and cover my whole screen.
My only complaint is that nighttime pictures/video require a lot of lighting. I took a video in a dim room and it was grainy, and a picture I took at night blurred. That is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.
However, overall it is a wonderful purchase!

Compact, sturdy, well engineered. Easy-to-manipulate controls. Thoughtful flash diffuser. Beefy silicon o-ring should last a long time. External mount will come in handy for tripod usage. Love the $150 price and free shipping with Amazon.

Cons: Size is a little thicker and longer than most compact digital cameras, but it it's loaded with so many features and power that it makes easy to overlook the size thing.

I must say that this camera is not only a great product, but it's a lot of fun too. With all of the options it has to offer (aperature priority, shutter priority, program mode, manual mode, scenes mode, auto & video) there is so much experimenting you can do.
The pictures come out gorgeous, with accurate color and clean detail.
Macro mode is really good, although the flash can be a bit harsh when in macro mode.
The video is another great plus with this camera; quick, easy, good sound pick-up.
LCD screen is not only a huge vivid screen, but displays accurate colors and detail of the image being taken.
I also love the rotating image feature depending on how the camera is held during playback.
Battery life is pretty good.
Another fun feature is the my colors function. I spent a whole day testing out that feature; I really got a lot of interesting shots that way.
The price may seem steep, but with it's sturdy construction, great performance, number of modes & features, and wonderful image quality, it is so worth the money!

4 AA batteries lasted about 400 photos, a few videos, and a lot of playing-with-all-the-features time. And the camera suffered no ill effects from being dropped and banged a few times at concerts and bars this summer. The camera is a bit large and not as chique as it's wafer-thin competitiors, but it has all the features of those cameras at a 40% discount. Also, while the LCD display is about 1/3 the size of the largest of the wafer-thin cameras, its colors are vivid, and I am able to see the pictures in sunlight. Video and sound are impressive, as is the incredible zoom capability of 7.1 MegaPixels. For example, the small print on a wine bottle 20 feet away was sharp and readable.

I have never been disappointed with Canon digital camera's. This new one, The Canon Powershot A620 7.1MP Digital Camera is no exception and meets and even exceeds my expectations. If that wasn't enough Amazon's price was the best deal on the web.

I just recently had a baby and we were using my husbands old Kodak DX4330 (3.1 mega pixels). After making prints we were not satisfied so we decided we needed a better but afforable camera. And after researching I found this to be the one. And I was right on! Great quality pictures! Easy to use! Awesome flip screen!! Just be sure to get a bigger memory card!

Excelent camera at an incredible price. It has literally taken me weeks to learn all of its countless features. I specially like the Macro setting which eliminates all need for special lenses when taking pictures of book's illustrations and that sort of thing. Recently took it on a trip to Europe and I can't believe how much more fun it made it. Only downside: the sad look on friends faces when comparing how much they paid for their own, lower pixeled and less equiped, cameras.

Battery doesn't last for one day. I have to change every day a new battery. I am looking into the options of returning it.
Even the prints are darker than what I see on the PC, I don't know if its the issue with the printing but it doesn;t happen with my other SONY camera.

We got this camera about 3 weeks back and it has delivered beautiful pictures ourdoors and decent ones indoors. The start up is fast and this is particularly helpful to me since I use it extensively to shoot pictures of our toddler who is always on the move and decides to do something new and interesting without a warning. With my old Samsung digital camera I missed capturing a lot of moments due to the slow startup. Also, in my old camera there was a lag between the flash coming on and the actual clicking. My daughter would invariably close her eyes after the flash and all her pictures came out with her eyes closed. Not the case with the A530. The color accent feature is very addictive. It does not gobble up batteries like many other cameras do and the video quality is good too. On the whole I would definitely recommend this camera. It is a steal for the price.

I have had a good experience with Canon -for me they outperforme similar Sonys and Nikons- I received this the S80 as a X-Mass present last Dec'05. The features of the Camera are good but mostly the same as the Canon Model 550 which is cheaper and that we also have. The only cons of the S80 is the size and weight, it's bigger and more expensive than the 550. The S80 is more techy but if you are not a pro like me, the 8 Mega Pixels are not worsted if you are not going to do major crops or large-prints. You could save some money by going with the Canon 550 which I also consider faster than the S80.

Easy to use right out of the box. Read the quick start manual and was able to start taking pictures and downloading to a computer right away. Has many more features some of which I may never use. Picture quality is very good. Would recommend getting a larger memory card. Highly recommend this camera.

Overall i find the camera to be a well balanced product. It looks nice, is easy to operate and does all it is supposed to do. The weak points are the cheap plastic cover for the accessory cables and the lack of a proper lense cover. Pity to finish off such a nice camera in such a cheap way

was encouraged to get it by an in-law. i like most things about it--the definition is great, the lcd screen is neat. i find sometimes the lag time between pressing the button and getting the shot is a little too long! and i haven't figured out how to zoom in to a shot i already took in review mode.

i think this Canon PowerShot A540 is a good choice for non-professional & low-budget photographers. When I opened the package, i was like "what!, It is very light." It is easy to carry and hold. Included software is good. Night shots are not so professional, but it's still ok. I think this is a reasonable machine.

After using a 1.3MP Canon A10 for several years, I was ready to own a camera with better resolution. After reading a number of reviews online, I decided on the Canon A620. I have a number of Canon products, including a scanner and a PIXMA printer and I have been quite pleased with Canons customer service, ease of product installation and durability.
The only problems I have with it are I have to hold it VERY, VERY steady to avoid blurring and I have to reprogram my preferred settings every time I turn it on.
Other than that it takes incredible photos and has a world of features. It is a good value for the money

I recommend this camera highly. Among its best features at this price are choice of shutter and aperture priority, and the tilting view screen. Its also nice to see a good camera still being made with an optical viewfinder, great for those situations when the view screen is washed out by sunshine and glare. The only reason to pay more for a non-professional mid-size camera is to get optical image stabilization, which would have been a real plus for this camera since the somewhat awkwardly located and designed shooting button has a relatively long "throw" (i.e., travel) which makes it harder to keep the camera stable when shooting.

I received the Canon a620 about a week ago, and honestly am astounded by the results. The clarity is amazing, and allows me to zoom in and crop quite a bit and still have perfect clarity.
The colors are brilliant, and perhaps the most useful feature I've found is the viewing window can face all directions. I can make it face up and take pictures from ground level or even take self portraits with my kids with the viewer facing us.
So far, I honestly couldn't rate this camera higher.

This is the best camera, EVER!! I love this camera; the quality is amazing and the pictures are so clear. If you have any doubts, DON'T! This is the camera you want and you will not be disappointed!!
