I bought it for one reason only. It has a viewfinder. Hurray! No more guess work of trying to see what is on the picture or within the frame in sunlight.It has lots of features. Need to play with it for a while to write more in detail. But I do like it. Buy it if you are downsizing as I have done.I wish it had come with a storage card.

This was a great camera for me. I am digitally challenged, and still had no problem figuring out how to use it. It takes a great photo. It's a little slow, but not enough to make me regret my purchase. I was VERY happy with the person who wrote the review, about be sure to take the few extra steps needed to get the memory card! I almost missed that, much appreciated.

This camera has all the features I needed, easy to understand which was important for someone like me, older yet not the wiser when it comes to technology. Shipping was prompt and actually came before date promised.

I bought this as an "intermediate" camera - - in between my cell phone and 30:1 digital zoomer. It fits in a big pocket, or in a small belt pouch - take your choice. (Since I was traveling in pick-pocket areas, I put it in my pocket and kept my hand in my pocket too.)I am VERY pleased. It comes on almost instantaneously, and it also focuses quickly and shoots fast, recovering in less than a second for the next shot.Film speed is good, defaults to 1600. Not exactly for night photography, but low-light is no problem at all.The viewfinder (thanks Canon) is for me indispensable, since LED screens are so hard to see in daylight (not to mention having to get out my reading glasses). I wish other vendors would add the viewfinder back in, but Canon seems to be the last holdout.Another thing I REALLY like for traveling is the AA batteries. Yeah, you have to buy batteries, but you do not have to carry a charger around (and of course forget to charge your spare battery, as we all will eventually do). This only uses two AA's, and they last a LONG time, maybe 500-1000 (non-flash) photos or thereabouts.Highly recommended.

This is a very nice point and shoot camera and very easy to use. Not designed for a professional photographer but great for the casual user like me.

My girl friend bought this camera for me knowing my preference in the past for Canon optical viewfinders and AA batteries. Unfortunately while on a trip where replacement was impossible the thing began to overexpose in snapshot mode and no adventuring in its program subfolders could stop the problem. Movie mode remained ok so......I have a movie camera going back for repair/replacement. On the other hand I give Canon credit for having a very responsive customer contact staff. Tune in later for the outcome.

My old Canon stopped working and I held out till I saw one that could take it's place. Easy to use and still with a multitude of functions.

The camera is a good camera.I am sure that I can find a manual online, but it should have been included. I was disappointed that the camera came with no instructions and no download cord. I am stil trying to figure out some of the operations. I did however purchase a download cord separatety.

I saw one that my wife had bought for high school journalism and had to have one. It takes great pictures, sure not up to bigger cameras but not that far off either. I don't understand some of the critical comments such as poor pictures in low light. I just finished a set in a museum that didn't allow flash and they were fine. As regards the flash, I counted 5 seconds to recharge and take another picture. I consider that acceptable. With any camera you need to watch the battery usage. Turn down the LED display or better yet use the viewfinder and allow time for the batteries to tecover or carry extra batteries for All in all a great supplemental camera which may be all that some people will require.

The Images are Superb, with or without using the Flash. This begins my journey to the transition to a Professional 35mm DIGITAL Camera.

yesterday I reeived my camera canon powershot A1400 16.0MP Digital camera with 5x I was eagerly waiting to take a pic and you have provided 02 batteries but no memory card a bit disappointment ..

Good camera, but the lack of tactile controls is a little bothersome - modes are now only accessible through menus, which takes longer to access... But a good camera nonetheless!

This is not the very latest, but it is one of the few small cameras you can now buy which have an optical viewfinder, which I think very important outdoors when it is hard to see the LCD. I also chose it because it uses two AA batteries, so that my grandchild would not find it useless if she had forgotten to charge it. Of course, she can use rechargeable AA.

I finally received this camera this week. I bought a memory card and have taken scores of pictures. Suddenly today, after I take pictures, I get an 'unidentified image' reading. How can this be fixed? I am quite disappointed.

Can't really judge the camera because it came without the memory disc promised with the purchase. This was a gift for an older relative who has never used a digital camera. She was afraid to use it without the memory card. She wanted to take pics of grandson's first christmas and then take the memory disc to get pics printed. Exciting gift turned into an epic fail.

I needed it mainly for taking pictures for ebay and craigslist. I also use it for family pictures and I love to take nature pictures. It is a good size for me because I have large hands that have trouble operating the cameras with tiny little buttons.
