This is my first DSLR, although I have had excellent results for the past 3 years with the Canon G9. I am only beginning to explore the potential of this camera, however, in my case coupled the the Canon EF-S 15-85MM lens, I am already producing pictures with amazing results. First, the low light sensitivity of this camera is impressive. In dark settings with minimal light the camera produces images with stunning clarity and color, more so than can be observed with the naked eye. Second, the adjustable view finder is very handy when taking pictures at odd angles. Third, the video capabilities are also first rate with HD capture and excellent quality. The combination with the EF-S 15-85MM lens is an excellent starting point for a more advanced journey into digital photography. Just make sure to buy a larger capacity SD card with class 6 or greater speed, this camera will capture and deliver megabytes at an astounding rate, especially in video mode. A 4GB card will fill in 12 minutes at maximum quality settings. Overall, I would highly recommend this camera to those interested in exploring photography in a greater capacity.

This is a great state of the art camera with one major flaw. There appears to be a conflict between the hot shoe and the built-in flash. The hot shoe may be erroneously reporting to the built-in flash that an external flash is still mounted on the hot shoe. The bottom line is, there's no way to open the built-in flash. Google something like and you'll find an avalanche of 60D owners trying to figure out how to open and use their built-in flash. Many report fixing the problem by probing the tiny leaf springs beneath the hot shoe rails. I tried it, but not to vigorously because I was reluctant to possibly damage the two springs.In an email from Canon they had me run through every routine they could think of in hopes of resetting the camera. None of this worked so today I UPS'd the camera to Canon. It was $8 to ship to Canon 56 miles away and about $25 for $1100 in insurance. That's a total of $33.00 and your warranty won't cover it.Judging from various forums, the 7D has a similar problem.The 60d is a great camera, but Canon needs to wake up and pay more attention to engineering or they'll start losing market-share in DSLR's.

The Canon 60D is my second DSLR that I have owned. The first one I bought early fall 2010. It also was a canon. I was so pleased with all of it's features, image quality and versitility. After just 2 weeks with this camera I have had great success with this camera. It took about this 2 weeks to really get use to the controlls. However, I have spent sometime with the 60D and I have only good things to say. The controlls are all very accessible and easy to use once it the 60D been studied and gotten use to. The multicontrol pad and dials function very well with no lag. This camera is a joy to use. The digital screen on back makes taking video and photos at angles other than straight shots fun and exciting. The image quality is professional and very crisp. The build quality, while not magnesium alloy, is of high quality and great for all day shooting. I highly recommend it. I could have bought any camera except a hassel blaud 20K; the Canon 60D was the right choice for me and probably for may seeking a great DSLR that really fits and exceeds their needs and not their ego.

I am in love with my 60D! The photos are super sharp, the lighting excellent (and great even at high ISOs.). The video is hi-quality and very smooth (that is when I'm not moving it like crazy). I shoot professionally and bought this to replace my XSi. I already have a 50D. It only took me a few times on my 60D to get used to the controls being on the left (as opposed to the 50D which are on the right). Overall, I couldn't be happier!

If you're considering spending the extra money on a 60D over the T2i. Do it. It's worth every penny.I've owned both and on paper there's not much difference, but in your hand the 60D is massively better. The ergonomics and the features are a big leap up.I bought my 60D mainly to shoot video. There are a lot of great additions over the T2i like dialing in colour temperature and full control over audio (you can shut off Automatic Gain Control). The flip out screen is the most obvious addition which makes life a lot easier on a tripod.But I do take a lot of stills too and I've always been a Nikon shooter. The T2i and the 60D have been my first Canon cameras. I didn't like the T2i for stills, in fact, I stopped using it and it became a video camera only.For video, the T2i was great. It's small, light and easy to use, but for stills, I could never get the metering to play nicely without a lot of fiddling. Sometimes I'd just fire off shots and preview until I got it working right. I found it erratic and cumbersome.Now I'm sure part of that is switching Nikon to Canon. However, I've had none of those issues with the 60D. The ergonomics are great. It does what I want it to, when I want it to. The buttons are easy to get to and allow fast changing of ISO, metering type, etc. The top LCD screen is also a great addition that makes a big difference for stills.I loved my T2i, but I'm even more in love with the 60D; the ergonomics are better, no AGC and the killer feature (ironically) is that it's a great stills camera too.

I'm a Nikon still shooter (Nikon D700) but bought this because I wanted to try my hand at video and Nikon is not quite as far along as Canon in the HDSLR game.It isn't fair to compare this to a full-frame camera like the Nikon D700 and I don't want to give the wrong impression, but the images from this camera are not as nice as from the D700. There seems to be more noise at lower ISOs when shooting RAW. The focus system is not as quick. But again, this is not a fair comparison.If you want to shoot still images and this camera is at about the top of your budget, it will create fantastic images! If you're a pro and an additional $1500 is justified, you can get slightly better images out of any of the full-frame DSLRs.But if video is important to you, this camera is really impressive. The video files are really impressive with a stunning ability to create defocused backgrounds. The file is clean and artifact free, mostly noise free until you get up into the 1000 ISO range and higher. Even then, the file is still quite usable.I use the fotodiox adapter to use my older Nikkor lenses on this body and they work brilliantly (20mm f/2.8D and 105mm f/1.8 AiS.)If I could only keep either the Nikon D700 or the Canon 60D, I'd choose the Canon because it is more versatile (stills and video) and the stills are almost as nice as those produced on the D700.

The image quality of the EOS 60D is excellent and on par with the 7D for shooting the typical family or kids events. As an owner of the 30D, 40D and 7D - I find the 60D IQ, handling and overall performance makes it worthy of the xxD designation.Some reviews focus on the changes to body materials, but the 60D body is as solid as the 7D without any squeaks or flexing. The density of the material used is quite substantial and the hand grip feels comfortable. The articulating LCD display is smooth and closes tightly. The buttons and controller are re-organized to accommodate the moving display. The top display is easy to use. The flash and shutter mechanism operate like the rest of Canon DSLRs.The 60D's reduced weight, dimensions and lower cost over the 7D make the 60D a great choice for xxD owners. After using the 7D for a year, I find the 60D more comfortable in my hands. Not that 7D is bad, but it's increased weight and size always seemed to cross a comfort threshold when carrying around.The low light (high ISO 1600-3200) performance of the 60D appears to be superior to any Canon, including my 7D, that I have owned. The 60D WB performance in indoor lighting is in line with other Canons so similar adjustments can be made in your work flow. While the 7D AF specs are better than the 60D, images are just as good for normal situations.Canon seemed to know what was important to most users and put it in the 60D and their experience with the EOS line is ever present here.

First, I'm not a professional photographer. I bought the 60D because I was not happy with the quality of even the best point and shoots out there. The 60D offered a smaller and more lightweight body than the 7D. The 60D has a swivel screen which is fantastic when doing video. Trust me, it makes a huge difference. I don't photograph sporting events, so 5.3fps instead of 8fps of the 7D was fine for me. I bought a Canon 24mm 2.8 prime lens to keep the overall size of the camera reasonable for my needs. I take family shots, and closer up images, so a zoom just wasn't necessary. Image quality - Excellent! A prior reviewer said it takes the same images as the 7D, which is an extremely well reviewed and quality camera. So you get this camera for $300 or more less, the same exact image quiality, and more bells and whistles. Autofocus is very fast. Like night and day compared to any point and shoot. I like the dial lock as I was always moving the wheels on any point and shoots I've owned. No autofocus in video mode, which is a true negative. I hope they upgrade that in a future body. That said, you can manual focus during video which is silent and more accurate. Lots of talk about this being plastic vs. metal. Don't pay any attention to it. This thing feels great. Nice and solid. Plastics today can be made even stronger than metal, so the whole plastic vs. metal thing should not even enter your mind, not for a second. You get a camera that weighs less!! Try hanging a 4 pound piece of steel around your neck for 8 hours and see how fun it is. Lighter and smaller is exactly what people are looking for. All in all, this camera rocks. Excellent image quality in a rock solid body with a ton of bells and whistles. Well worth the money.

I am glad my husband went with the upgrade from the Rebels to this camera. Great view finder, and the control layout is intuitive. I couldn't be more happy.

Hi,I was looking for a camera that could help me to get a good clips for a reasonable price, because I'm learning visual effects, and I need to capture my own videos to learn better. I can start with any HD camcorder, but if I'm going to be a professional in this business as I wish, then I'm going to work with a professional camera.This Canon 60d was the answer and more than perfect for me. I mean with a appropriate lens, a good angle and a dolly or a tripod dolly combined with a good story and an actor, you can easily match any Hollywood movie out there.This camera can rock your world!.The only thing that make me rate it 4 stars is the ISO thing. I mean you need a great lighting to have a good picture at night or at dark places in general, just to get rid of the Grain it the clip. I was hoping to buy a Nikon D3S, but come on, there are like $2k difference in price between these two, just for this ISO issue ??? Besides, Canon 60d can capture 60fps in 1280x720, I just tested it and it was AMAZING!From the day you buy this camera, you just need to focus on lenses and have at least 3 of them for different purposes, because Canon 60d can handle any video or picture just like the way any other costly camera can do.It took me a month of seeking and thousands of reviews until I finally convinced that this is what I'm looking for.I may make a video review later.I really can't find any words to thank Canon for making my dream came true.

after reviewing cameras for weeks i finally chose this one. i dont regret it for a second. i am pretty much new to the slr and this is really easy to learn on. i love it.

i got curious and got a chance to read all the 1 star reviews, i guess they have bad luck from the hundreds of the 60D being sold. i was excited to receive my camera and once i got it boom out of the box, install the battery grip and let the batteries charge. Once done charging turn it on give it a try. The 60d gave me no troubles besides the camera went crazy thinking there's a external flash still fixed onto the body but that's a common problem for the 60d, all my lenses work my 75-300, 50 1/8, 18-135, and my 10-22. So far it's awesome! i love the 18-135 such a nice lens.

There's not too many reviews so I thought I would throw in my two cents worth. I wanted to upgrade from my XSi and the candidates within my budget were the 50D, 60D or 7D. I went for the 60D as it is latest xxD version; the 50D was only slightly cheaper and the 7D was quite a bit more expensive. I bought the "body only" as I have several canon lenses. I've only had the 60D for about two weeks now and love it, albeit I still have to learn some of the functions. I am mostly a landscape photographer and shoot mainly at dusk or dawn. I like the capability of the higher ISO's. Like any photographer, I try to shoot at the lowest ISO I can use, but photos I've shot up to ISO 1600 come out good. I didn't think the articulating screen would be a major selling point but it is. Shooting portraits in the Live View mode is great. Also, the LCD screen is protected when stored with the screen facing the camera--no more scratched LCD screens. I use the viewfinder while shooting outside. I haven't tried the movie function. I need to try it just to make sure it works, but I doubt I'll ever use it. I bought the camera for photos, not movies. I've posted a couple of photos (Sea Oats and Palm Tree) in the "View and Share Related Images" section on the main page. I'm pleased.

The purchase process was normal and the delivery was fast and they kept me informed about my item all the time.This camera is wonderful! Works as a charm and has many, many options that can be very useful at all times. Im an semi pro photographer and this camera is excellent for me, heavy work most of the time. Its fast, easy to use, responds great to all the commands. The menu screen is very easy to use.Image quality is excellent, very crisp, clear and brilliant, even at very high ISO (1600 and above). Anyway, you must keep in mind that as important as the camera, the lens you choose is. With this very same camera but a crappy lens the images could be disappointing, so try to get a good lens before you cant talk about the camera.The swivel screen was a key point when I made my choice and it's a wonderful feature once you try to take pictures in awkward positions.Battery life is better than I expected.I dont regret at all to had choose this one over the 7D. Same resolution, same video capacity and it has the plus of the swivel screen for less money.I recommend this camera a lot, but be sure to get good lenses (this goes for all cameras as well)

I have been photographing outdoors and nature for 11 yrs now and I have owned many cameras. I am not rich and cannot afford the high end stuff that everyone dreams of having, so I have to make my money count. I upgraded from the 40D and I loved that camera. I did weeks of reading and comparing before I made my choice and it was not easy. I was at a point where I felt like I had to make a blind leap and hit the buy now button. 4 months later, paired with a 24-105mm IS L f4 lens, I'm all warm and fuzzy with the feeling of knowing I made the right choice. This camera just feels "Right"

I was considering the 60D and the T3i, and I chose the 60D because of its advantages: build quality, dedicated screen on top, more cross-type AF points, better viewfinder, better controls. I don't regret my decision at all. Paid $1199 with a Canon rebate. As for the lens, having such a long range in a kit lens is great because you won't need to buy another lens unless you really want to.

I was deciding between the Nikon D7000 and the Canon 60D and made the obvious choice based on reputation, quality and value for the money. The 60D more than fulfills my needs as an advanced amateur. If anything, the newer DSLRs give too many choices. The camera and lens seem to be very robust. I am amazed when I read the adverse comments regarding the lack of a magnesium body. The Boeing 787 is a combination of metal and plastic, after all, and it is heralded as a technological advancement, which it should be. Besides, I never beat my equipment like others suggest they do. Interesting that the Nikon D7000 boasts a magnesium body, when it actually is only partially so. I am entirely satisfied with the camera and Amazon's service. Other companies would do well to emulate Amazon.

The Canon 60d is definitely a great buy. I was extremely impressed with the pictures and video it produced. However, the 18-135mm lens is honestly just average, which is expected for a kit lens. The quality isn't terrible, but if you're thinking about getting serious in the DSLR world, I'd suggest getting a better lens. I would still advise you to get the 18-135mm kit because the lens itself is around $400.

I had been using the Canon XTI for years, but was ready to step up the capabilities, functions, and quality of my amateur photos. I researched the Canon line, and found the 60D to be the number one choice. This was over the T2i and T3i, as the Canon lenses fit all three bodies. The overall focus ability is slightly better than the T2i and T3i, with the 60D delivering stunning in-focus (absent soft focus) results. I've also had absolutely no issue with using the Transcend 16GB Class 10 mem card. Very happy with the EOS 60D, 16GB mem card, and Amazon ordering/delivery of the products. I highly recommend the combination.

This is my first DSLR. I was choosing between 60D and T3i. Canon had a promotion and bought the 60D body for $900 (T3i with the kit lens was $800). Borrowed an 18-55 from my brother. Very happy with my choice. The camera is much more feature reach then T3i for almost the same price. The good pentaprism viewfinder of 60D was probably the most important feature for me. Don't use the camera for video much, prefer using the Flip.

I upgraded from a Canon Rebel XSi to the 60D a few weeks ago because I wanted the added features, and I am very happy with the results. It does it all, and far more than I am capable of comprehending at this point. I am continually learning its features. It is a complex camera, yet can be used to point and shoot as well. I am the "official" photographer for our church and am forced to take a lot of shots in low light. The higher ISO capability of the 60D makes it ideal for a "no flash" environment, in my opinion. Coupled with the Canon EF-S 17-55mm 2.8 IS USM lens I have taken some really sharp shots of baptisms, anniversaries, and social gatherings. The only criticism I have is the weight of the camera. After a couple of hours with it strapped around my neck it becomes noticeably heavy.

I have owned a T1i and a T2i which I used for semi-professional family shoots. I recently upgraded to the 60D and honestly was extremely surprised at the big upgrade it is from the T2i. For advanced users, it is more than worth the extra cash. It fits in my hand much better and the controls are easier to access. When using my 50mm 1.4 the 60D focuses much more accurately than my T2i does. I was having a lot of problem with the T2i front focusing, but the 60D has been spot on. I am also very pleased with how it handles my indoor lighting. Shots with my T2i usually turned out yellow when on auto-whitebalance, but the 60D seem to produce much better indoor color. Another surprise was how quiet the shutter mechanism is. It is much softer than the T2i which will be very nice with the wedding shoots I have coming up. There are so many more advanced options in the menus than you get on a Rebel. Another surprise for me was that it has ISO increments in 1/3 stops. For people considering taking the photography to the next level, I couldn't recommend this product any higher.

Wishing to be a serious amateur photographer, and wishing to enter the world of digital photo, I spent three months researching practically every day to decide what equipment to buy. The market has great options, which makes the choice very difficult. Finally I chose the Canon 60D and I can say it was worth it!! It is an amazing camera that I recommend to all those keen amateurs like me, and even professionals. Bought with the 18-200 mm lens which is another wonderful thing, it is a kind of an All-in-1 in lenses. For all these reasons I strongly recommend buying this product !!!!!
